PoliticsRe: BREAKING: Solar Panels Now Need PERMIT In Lagos! Nigerians React by OMBIIGA: 6:36pm On Apr 23
owobokiri:
APC is a political party that was created by a set of shylocks whose total orientation towards contemporary governance is deeply rooted in the primordial "TAX and SPEND" culture of some ancient Kingdom in Nigeria.
It is the culture, stewpid!

Whenever we try to draw the attention of the general Nigerian public to this anomaly, we are branded as ethnic champions. But the fact will always hunt reality. Everyone is a product of his or her immediate cultural environment, so are APC adherents..

Some people were raised under a primordial cultural environment where the "kabiyesi" or the "sultan", the "emir" or the "oba", is always stretching his hands for more taxes, more gifts and more donations from his totally traumatised people.

When folks from his kind of environment find themselves in modern executive mansions as rulers, they start to feel and act like the new "kabiyesis/Obas/Sultans/Emirs"! Albeit, unconsciously. They will tax you to death if you don't shout..

To them it is normal.
Subjects have to pay taxes and then bow sheepishly to the feet of their traditional stools. That's how it was/is done in their ethnic enclaves, so they too as the new overlords expect same feom the teoubled masses...

APC as a political movement is unhinged! They will tax everything if you allow them. It may sound like a hyperbole, but these confused bunch are ready to tax the air we breath if we allow them..
Including the Igwe's and Warrant Officer progenitor!!

PoliticsRe: Buhari With Subsidy Borrowed N87trn, Tinubu Without Subsidy Borrows N151trn by OMBIIGA: 9:41am On Apr 18
Ofunaofu:
Buhari with subsidy, borrowed N87trn, but Tinubu without subsidy, borrowed N151trn in 3 years—Melaye

Dino Melaye, a former senator and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, has criticised Nigeria’s current economic trajectory, comparing borrowing levels under former President Muhammadu Buhari and incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking in a video shared ahead of the 2027 general elections, Melaye argued that Nigeria’s debt has risen sharply within a short period under the present administration. His remarks come as opposition figures, including Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, are reportedly working towards forming a coalition to challenge the ruling party.

Melaye questioned the impact of key economic reforms, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy, which was expected to ease fiscal pressure and reduce borrowing. According to him, this expectation has not been reflected in the country’s financial records.

He claimed that during Buhari’s administration, Nigeria accumulated about N87 trillion in debt while the subsidy regime remained in place. In contrast, he alleged that under Tinubu’s leadership, the country has recorded approximately N151 trillion in borrowing within three years, despite the removal of subsidy.

Using the comparison, Melaye raised concerns about the government’s fiscal policies, suggesting that the nation’s debt burden has worsened rather than improved. His comments add to growing public discourse on economic management, government spending, and the long-term implications of rising debt.

The development comes amid increasing political tension as the 2027 elections approach, with opposition groups intensifying efforts to present a united front. Meanwhile, debates continue among stakeholders, with supporters and critics offering differing perspectives on the effectiveness of current economic reforms

PoliticsRe: Dangote Refinery Hikes Fuel Price To N1,245/litre by OMBIIGA: 10:37am On Mar 21
I'm
treesun:
Nigerians and Petroleum marketers are bracing for another round of price increases after the Dangote Petroleum Refinery announced a fresh hike in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol), citing escalating global geopolitical tensions.

In a notice sent to marketers on Friday night and obtained by our correspondent, the refinery disclosed that its ex-depot (gantry) price had been raised from N1,175 per litre to N1,245 per litre, while the coastal price was also adjusted upward.

“Please be informed that due to the current global geo-political situation which has further escalated, the PMS gantry & coastal price has been reviewed and updated as outlined below,” the notice read.

The document showed that the gantry price increased by N70 per litre, while the coastal price rose from N1,512,648 per metric tonne to N1,606,518 per metric

According to the refinery, the new pricing regime will take effect from midnight on March 21, 2026.

“The refinery raised its coastal price from N1,512,648 per metric tonne to N1,606,518 per metric tonne, while the gantry price increased from N1,175 per litre to N1,245 per litre.

“Please note that the revised price will apply to all unloaded gantry and coastal volumes and is effective from 12am on the 21st of March 2026,” it stated.

The refinery also clarified that marketers with existing supply arrangements backed by bank guarantees would still be allowed to lift products under previous approvals, subject to certain conditions.

“For customers with a valid Bank Guarantee with DPRP, loading will continue with existing ATCs/PRN (if any) provided the BG credit balance covers the price change differential,” the notice added.

It further explained that the cost difference arising from the new pricing would be recovered from marketers.

“The corresponding debit note will be passed in your trading account with DPRP. Payment evidence for the price change differential will be required by Monday, 23-March-2026,” the company said.

The latest adjustment is expected to ripple across the downstream sector, with pump prices likely to rise in the coming days as marketers pass on the increased cost to consumers.

The hike underscores the continued vulnerability of Nigeria’s fuel market to international crude oil price volatility and supply chain disruptions, despite the coming on stream of the Dangote refinery, which was expected to stabilise domestic supply.

The development comes amid heightened global uncertainty driven by ongoing tensions in key oil-producing regions, particularly in the Middle East, which has pushed up crude oil prices and freight costs.

The refinery, however, maintained that the adjustment was necessary to reflect prevailing market realities, stressing that the pricing review was driven by external factors beyond its control.

FG should wake up from her sleep and slumber, thereafter fix the state owned refinery to guarantee energy security for the citizens.

PoliticsRe: Reno Omokri Dedicates First Day Of Mount Kilimanjaro Climb To President Tinubu by OMBIIGA: 9:29am On Mar 07
[quote author=joandavidleonha post=138690087]Nigerian diplomat and former presidential aide, Amb Reno Omokri, has dedicated the first day of his climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro to Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Omokri announced the dedication in a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, stating that the opening stage of his climb of Africa’s highest mountain was in honour of the Nigerian leader and the country.

The former presidential spokesperson said the symbolic gesture reflects his appreciation for the President and his commitment to promoting Nigeria on the global stage.

The Kilimanjaro expedition forms part of Omokri’s broader campaign to project a positive image of Nigeria internationally. The author and social commentator has said he intends to hoist the Nigerian flag at the summit of the mountain during the climb, which typically takes several days to complete.

Mount Kilimanjaro, located in Tanzania, stands at 5,895 metres (19,341 feet) above sea level and is the tallest mountain in Africa, attracting thousands of climbers each year.

Omokri, who previously served as a special assistant to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has in recent months expressed strong support for the Tinubu administration. He recently praised the president’s leadership and credited him with helping reshape his understanding of patriotism and national unity.

The climb also comes shortly after Omokri’s diplomatic appointment by the Nigerian government. In March 2026, President Tinubu approved his posting as Nigeria’s ambassador to Mexico, a role in which he pledged to promote Nigeria’s interests and strengthen international partnerships.

Omokri described the Kilimanjaro climb as both a personal challenge and a patriotic act aimed at showcasing Nigeria’s image abroad.

The multi-day expedition is expected to culminate with the raising of the Nigerian flag at the mountain’s famous Uhuru Peak, the highest point on the African continent.

I'm
truthera:
The Take It Back Movement (TIB) acknowledges reports of recent military action conducted by the United States against ISIS-affiliated elements operating within Nigeria.

We recognize the grave threat posed by terrorist groups whose activities continue to claim innocent lives and destabilize communities across the country. While we support genuine efforts to end terrorism in Nigeria, it is important to note that we do not welcome bombing of our country by a foreign power done in the guise of fighting terrorism. We have seen the result of US led interventions in Iraq, Afghanistan, and witnessed the devastating outcome. But we hold the government of Bola Tinubu fully accountable for inability to defend Nigeria’s territorial integrity from internal insurgents (Terrorists, bandits), and foreign aggressors, Donald Trump!

Last year, the EndBadGovernance protest called on the Tinubu government to end terrorism in the country. But the government responded with arrogance, and with brute force. Reports documented over 40 deaths, and 2000 arrests nationwide. Children were jailed for 30 days, and were to be tried for treason, a capital offense. Court recently dismissed a treason charge against 11 activists that were jailed for several weeks for participating in the protest. The Tinubu government violently dismissed genuine public concerns on escalating poverty, and insecurity in the country. That Nigerians are unfortunately cheering the ongoing violation of our national sovereignty is a vote of no confidence on the government of Tinubu.

Even the constitution of our country, despite its limitations, some of which we have always pointed out, acknowledges that security, and welfare shall be primary purpose of government. But the Tinubu government clearly lacks capacity to deliver on this objective. Sovereignty belongs to the people from which the government derives power. The Tinubu government have also displayed utter lack of capacity to defend the sovereignty of the Nigerian people. There is no reason to keep the government of Tinubu in power. He must go!
