Former Federal Commissioner for Information
and South-South Leader, Edwin Clark, is de@d.
According to a statement released by his family,
the chairman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum,
PANDEF died on Monday night,February 17. He
was 97 years old.


The statement read,

“The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of
Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, wishes to
announce the passing of Chief (Dr.) Sen.
Edwin Kiagbodo Clark OFR, CON on Monday
17th February , 2025. The family appreciates
your prayers at this time. Other details will be
announced later by the family.”

Born in Kiagbodo, in the Ijaw area of what is now
Delta State, late Clark attended primary and
secondary schools at Effurun, Okrika and
Afugbene before completing further studies at
the Government Teacher Training College, which
later became Delta State University, Abraka.
Thereafter, he worked briefly as a school teacher before traveling abroad to earn a law degree.


He worked with the administrations of military
governor Samuel Ogbemudia and head of state,
General Yakubu Gowon between 1966 and 1975.


In 1966, he was a member of an advisory
committee to the military governor of the Mid-
Western Region province, David Ejoor and was
appointed Federal Commissioner of Information
in 1975.

So recently, some Northern influencers held a live meeting online to discuss how to stop the Tax Reform Bills brought forward by President Tinubu’s administration. These young people said they are rejecting the bills because their clerics, community, and political leaders says it goes against their religion and it is anti-North.

Remember late last year, in the news, prof. Usman Yusuf, the Borno governor spoke angrily against the bills.

Bauchi state governor Bala Mohammed even threatened President Tinubu, saying if he continues with the bills, there will be anarchy. He warned they will "show their true colours" and will fight for it!

It’s not just these few – many others from the North are boasting and using their population strength to threaten the government. They are even saying Tinubu must listen to them because their votes alone put him in power, and if not, they’ll remove him come 2027.

But here’s my question: where were these same people when their brother, Buhari, ruled for 8 years? He filled key government positions mostly with Northerners and Fulani people, ignoring other regions. He even built a railway to Niger Republic while there are non in the South-South and South-East region.

Nobody threatened Buhari back then. So why now? Is it because it is not their brother that is in power this time?
