uzziii:Hi Uzzi. On the contrary, I reckon most of the successful applicants in this forum got positive assessment using their 1st degrees from Nigeria, especially the Engineers. For architecture, am not aware. But I believe you'll get a positive response. Try it out Uzzi. You and hubby should write to the appropriate assessing authority. Send them an enquiry email and ask for their requirements. All d best |
uzziii:Hello bro. No such criteria for a Permanent Residency Visa 189 or 190. However some states require POF before nomination is given under visa 190. I had a Nigerian degree but I also have an Australian bachelor's degree. Your Nigerian degree can be assessed as meeting up with Australian Qualifications framework. I scored 60points on skillselect. |
akinnawou:Thanks so much. Wishing you success all the way. |
Esty4eva:I didn't assess my wife's skill cos I wasn't claiming points from it. Besides she's a medical doctor yet to register with the Aussie medical board. For medical doctors, it seems like a long process. But you could have your spouse assess his/her skill with the appropriate authority. He/she will have to meet the English Lang. requirement of the authority also for you to be able to claim the 5points. |

Thanks Funkyjo. Wish the same happens for you. It was exactly one month (31days). Na God. |
princey83:Thanks princey83 |
lizybos:Thanks lizybos |
eddypaki:Don't know much about fees for assessing authorities. I think the fees lie within a range of $500-$1000AUD. IELTS in Nigeria should be about 45-50k. Am not too sure anymore cos I sat for mine in 2014. I studied online by subscribing to ROADTOIELTS. Some other people buy study materials from British Council. There are so many online resources. |
Jetspeed:Thanks jetspeed |
catchdwind4rmkd:Thanks so much for your efforts in guiding people through. |
eddypaki:5 persons will be Main applicant 3600+ dependent spouse1800+each dependent child(900x3)=$8100AUD. |
oknee:Hoki doki |
chuckdee13:It is settled for you. We only await the good news. |
oknee:Oknee, I am presently onshore in Australia. I did my medicals here. It cost $1905aussie dollars intotal for 2 adults and 2children <5years of age. |
sunvick:Thanks sunvick. Keep coming |
bblessed:Yes I did claim work experience points. My assessing authority gave me 8 years and above for work experience but whilst filling up my EOI, I indicated only 5years (10points). This is because 5years out of the 8years given is verifiable. One of the companies i worked for has moved from Nigeria. Didn't want to take chances. |
joyuzo:Basically, there's no fixed requirement for work experience. It varies. Some folks who grab maximum points from English Test don't bother about claiming experience points like our bro Jukeblam. The number of years of experience however can contribute to adding points when its 3years and above. So it all depends. Conduct a point test on your case now and determine where you can get points to add up to 60 and start working on it. Just a word of advise, whatever you want to do, don't hesitate as laws change everyday. Some occupations have already been flagged for possible removal from the SOL List by July 2017. Mine is one of them. So make hay while the sun shines. I also graduated from FUTO 2003. Assessing authority will depend on the nominated occupation. POF will also depend on the visa subclass, but is common with state nominated visa 190. Some states are not stringent with POF. e.g Tasmania. They only require you to declare that you have sufficient funds to settle in when you arrive. Different states have their own criterion. Visa 189 does not require POF before a grant is given. Best of luck |
Ibiyemiara:You'll get it. Just put your documents right, simple and umbigous. You'll fare well on 60points. |
@ibiyemiara: 60 points |
@bellong: Didn't get you quite clear. You asked why my skill assessment spanned a year right? Assessment was submitted in 25.05 and received positive assessment 03.06 (a week). |

@Egbabie, I am in Tasmania - Launceston to be precise. You may hola at me |
Greetings House. Please through what means does the Case Officer contact the applicant? Is it via email or phone number? I am onshore and had a missed call from a number I don't recognise. True calling back but it would never go through. |
@Cecegal: For AMSA skills assessment. Go to AMSA Website and download Form No 12. Complete the form and send with supporting documents. However, AMSA insists that before positive assessment is given, the applicant must be holding a COC issued by one of the countries Australia has bilateral ties with. You may check this on the Amsa website and confirm your brother's COC will be recognised. If yes, then he will have to sit for oral exams conducted by AMSA in Australia before +ve assessment is issued. If not, he may have to upgrade in Australia. |
Thanks Bellong |
I received my positive assessment from AMSA on 6th June 2016, Submitted EOI on same day 6th June. Invitation received 2 days later 8th June. Lodged application on the 10th and now on bridging visa. Meanwhile, I have a question. Will immigration verify employment information given even after skills assessment has been issued by an appropriate authority ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Nice thread guys. Am so pleased people take their time to ensure others are well informed. Well-done people. |

Going by some person's comments, its obvious they have neither come to contribute nor seek advice, rather they have come to spoil this beautiful forum. Friends, there is no competition here. You visit the thread, get blessed and bless others too. WE NEED TO STOP MAKING DEROGATORY STATEMENTS AND ASSASSINATING THE CHARACTER OF PEOPLE. Let's be matured and kind enough in our comments please. BOSSLADYMO, I greet to specially. You're the LadyBoss and you're always appreciated. |
bossladymo1:Welcome back bossladyMo.... |
