@ Orpelin, Airport to the Karaye camp is about 1.35 mins if you take a drop straight from the Airport. The city is a commercial city, they can be very nice to visitors, though there are religious bigots, but not everybody really. Let me know when you come in, if I can help in anyway for your posting. The atmosphere is not as bad as people outside think about religious tolerance and protection. Kano is safe as I'm talking now.

It was yesterday's newspaper; I forgot to say that!

The story reported by This day Newspaper "Kano: Two Students Killed, Four Wounded in Robbery Attack" was a blatant lie. The reporter must have got his story from a passer-by. Stating the facts:
1. It was not an armed robbery attack, as nothing was neither stolen or attempted to be stolen
2. It was a terrorist attack, though facts may not be there if it is directly sponsored, carried out or initiated by Boko Haram
3. The attack was not carried out at any shopping area, but in front of the house of one of the victims
4. Five students were severely shot at and two killed brutally instantly
5. The victim at whose house the attack took place was a Pastor's son (The father is my friend, we were with the families of the 2 deceased yesterday), so he was the main target while his friends staying with him were just unlucky to be there at the time
6. Other similar incidents have occurred and keep occurring that show straight act of selective assassination
6. Since no statement was made by the police, I think it is quite misleading to attach the Police Commissioner's picture to this story.

Nigerians should learn to begin not to believe everything read in the Newspapers as trustworthy really. This is about the 3rd story I have personally found out reported in the Newspaper (not Thisday alone) to be total lies within the space of 2 weeks. Can someone tell them to always thoroughly investigate their stories.

Kano: Two Students Killed, Four Wounded in Robbery Attack

Authorities of the Federal Government College (FGC), Kano on Tuesday confirmed killing of two of its students by unknown gunmen but they said the attack was carried out outside the school premises.

It said contrary to the media reports that gunmen attacked the school Monday evening, the school authorities admitted that although its students were the victims of the attack, the incident, however, occurred at a shopping area in Na’ibawa Quarters.

It was gathered that the killings might be as a result of robbery attack that occurred around the area at the time.

It was gathered that while two students were killed, four others were wounded in the attack contrary to a report carried by an online news agency.

According to the school authorities the affected students were day students and were attacked after they left the school around 6.00pm.

“We don’t know yet what precipitated the attack but certainly two of our students were killed while four others were wounded outside the school,” a source said.

The Vice- Principal (Admin), Mrs Elizabeth Kasuwa confirmed the incident Tuesday and said that the students have been de-boarded from the school after completing their final examinations.

According to her, all of the affected students were males.

She explained that the school Management had visited Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) where corpses of the two students were deposited in the mortuary while the other students, who sustained injuries in the attack, were receiving treatment in the emergency ward of the hospital.

Kano State Police spokesman, Assistant Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rilwan Mohammed confirmed the attack and said that the killings took place around Yar Akwa area, near some shops.

He said that gunmen, suspected to be robbers, might be responsible for the attack which led to the killing of two persons and wounding of four others.
