Afeni: Yes, many men are verbally abused. But I have no pity for a man that is being physically abused by his wife. |
Romance › Re: Is 25 An Ok Age For Marriage? by omogenaija(f): 11:38pm On Jun 03, 2006 |
Afeni: Omogenaija, are you denying that physical abuse in Nigerian marriages is not prevalent? I would say it happens so often that the police won't even persecute you for it. i aint denying it. i'm just saying that its not only nigerian women that get abused, some of them might be getting abused. |

Romance › Re: Is 25 An Ok Age For Marriage? by omogenaija(f): 11:31pm On Jun 03, 2006 |
Afeni: omogenaija, the question is meant to inform you of the choice that many Nigerian women that are in abusive relationships face. Don't assume that they can just pack up and leave their abusive husbands.
Hence, if they waited till they got their lives in order, they would be more able to leave since they won't be depending on the abusive man for money e.t.c. well, i would leave an abusive man. physical abuse can lead to mental illness or it could even lead to death. and not only nigerian women get abused by their husband. it can happen to any woman or any race. so afeni i advise you to get your statements together the next time you want to share them. |

Romance › Re: Is 25 An Ok Age For Marriage? by omogenaija(f): 11:21pm On Jun 03, 2006 |
Afeni: I am not joking. Wait till your 30s to get married. Use your 20s to get your degree and your life in order. If you rush into marriage before you are set (stable job e.t.c.) if things don't work out in your marriage, you are stuck. Ever wonder why Nigerian women stick with abusive men? Think about it. Afeni where do u get ur sterotypes from first u say yoruba people are cowards , and now nigerian women stick with abusive men. I hope u know thats not always true. |

Any age is ok, as long as your mentally and emotionally ready. Plus its a good idea for females to get married before they reach the high risk pregnancy age which i believe is 35+ |
