Celebrities / Dehadza Homes CEO, Dije Gave Me The Name 'dejon' - Alternative Singer Dejon by Omonaijablog: 12:04pm On Jun 03
Dehadza Homes CEO, Dije Obadje Gave Me The Name 'DeJon' - Alternative Singer DeJon

Jonathan Ogbonna, also known as DeJon, is born into the family of four children; an elder brother and sister, and two younger sisters.

A graduate of Geology from the University of Ibadan. Jonathan is a Christian with a passion for music and married to the most amazing woman in the universe. He is also blessed with a daughter.

In this chat with SHABA GBENGA, the Publisher of Omonaijablog.com.ng, DeJon, an alternative singer spoke about his life, his career and music. He also revealed what he can't do to 'blow'.

He revealed much more, so much more.

Tell us about your journey into the entertainment industry.

My first encounter with music was as an eight-year-old boy. I was merely influenced by my mother, who was to release an album around that time. In primary 6, I started playing the keyboard for my Church and making melodies. During my 100 level in tje HigherInstitution, my friend and roommate, Toba, advised me to get lyrics for my melodies, instead of just letting them waste; so I wrote my very first song then. Of course, I did not release it, I was supposed to present it for the University of Ibadan Fresher’s Welcome Program at the Chapel of the Resurrection, The Youth Forum. However, I told myself, maybe I will still release the song, unedited so the world can see the growth.

How do you come about the name DeJon?

How do you come about the name DeJon?
People call me Jon for short, but my mom calls me Dee Joe or Dee Jon (which translates to Uncle Joe/Jon) when she is pleased with me and wants to pet me to do something for her. I liked the name; I decided to concatenate it and write it as DeeJon. After I met Spellz and started working with him, his wife- Dije Hadiza (CEO of DEHADZA HOMES) after listening to some of my songs, she asked me my stage name and told me to adopt the name DeJon which was better. To my surprise, I found out there is an actual name like DeJon which means 'God is gracious', often found among African Americans. I adopted the name, more so because of the meaning of the name.

What has been your experience since you started?

It hasn't been easy, but it hasn't been unbearable either. There have been moments of both joy and pain, but through it all, one thing has been consistent - growth. My experiences have shaped me and given me new perspectives on life. They have also reshaped my understanding of the music industry through what I have seen and heard.

What is your genre of music?

I am an alternative singer.

As an alternative singer, who are those who inspired you to do music?

I have been inspired and influenced by lots of musicians. The first is my mom, although her songs were never released nor published. I believe I got my musical talent from her. I was first inspired to write my first song by my roommate Toba. He believed in me and told me that my melodies were worth listening to if only I would find words for them. I have also been inspired by the likes of Jon Bellion, Jon Legend, Rihanna, and Justin Bieber. Bringing it home, in no particular order, I have also been a lover of Rema Music, WizKid, Buju, Davido, and Burna Boy.

Who is your greatest inspiration of all time?

Of all the big celebrities in the music industry, Spellz happens to be the only one I have come close to, beyond studio sessions. He has inspired me to be a better version of the Me he first met and given me a better perspective on success in the music industry.

He has taught me a lot about the music industry, he gave my music exploration a definition. He has shown me music is beyond the studio room, and that the real life of an artist starts after he is done with his studio sessions and performances.

How do you source for inspiration to sing?

I take a walk, I sleep and receive melodies in my dreams sometimes, and I drive out in an open space enjoying nature and the breeze. Sometimes, I eat and take a shower. Some other times I see a movie or have a fun time with my wifey.

What's that unforgettable thing you ever found yourself doing?

I remember a time in school when I took the punishment for my younger sister. As she was a girl, I didn't want her to be punished. At the time, I was a prefect, and school rules prohibited public punishment of a prefect. I went to the principal, handed in my badge, and offered to take the punishment in her place. My sister appreciated and respected me even more for it. The school management was surprised and returned my badge to me.

Can you do a Sugar Mummy to grow?

No, please.

Why?

Apart from the fact that I’m married, I don’t see reasons why I need to do a sugar mommy to blow. Music is art; people love good art and are always drawn to it, just like an ant is drawn to sugar. If you have a good craft, and the right support system, the people will accept you. There is only not so much you can achieve as an artist if your foundation in the industry is sugar mommy. I would rather develop my craft to blow.

What do you consider a success in the entertainment industry?

It is being who you want to be in the industry without sacrificing your personality or breaking your rules to attain it. For me, success in the industry is attaining a position where I can freely relate without restrictions; my music to a stream of audience willing to vibe hard with me, and not sacrificing my persona. That is success to me. I want that freedom of expression. I do not want to lose myself or become whoever the market wants me to become in order to blow.

Why do you think most young artists find it difficult to succeed?

First success is relative. They have to define what success truly entails for them. Talent, persona, and a strong management team have a strong impact on the market value of an artist. When the artist lacks these things, they might suffer in the industry. However, there are no simple ways of explaining these things, as some people have succeeded without the obvious requirements and some have also not seen success although they have it all.

Lyrically, what are some of the works you have done. And what are you working on presently?

I am currently working on a couple of songs with Spellz.
Two of the songs are ready and we will be sharing with you all very soon. I am so excited about the project because we created something very spiritual.

OK. What do you do to relax?

I listen to music, I watch movies, I eat junks, take a shower, I take a walk, and I play with my girls.

What are some of the things most people don't know about you?

I love eating food that I did not cook and I enjoy being in nature. I cherish life, and love, and believe that men should always love and protect the women around them.

Can you share your social media handles with us?

The surgeon's reputation for excellence is not tarnished by this mistake; instead, it is enhanced by his willingness to be humble and accountable. This real-life example illustrates the transformative power of humility.

Crime / Minister Of State For Defense, Matawalle, Commends Nigerian Army by Omonaijablog: 11:09am On Dec 12, 2023
The Honourable Minister of State for Defence (HMOSD) Dr Bello Muhammad Matawalle has commended the Nigerian Army in their recent efforts in operations around Tungar Mangwaro in Niger State.

The exploits carried out yesterday the 10th of December 2023 led to the neutralization of over 30 armed Bandits amongst which were 2 notorious bandits, Ali Kawajo and Shehu Rakef were hit and killed.

It could be recalled that it was Ali Kawajo who masterminded the train bombing attack and the kidnapping of over 100 passengers last year 2022 and also the recent kidnap of students of Federal University, Gusau in Zamfara State.

Both Ali Kawajo and Shehu Rakef have also been behind most Bandit activities in Kaduna, Niger and Zamfara States general area and most especially along road Abuja - Kaduna axis.

The Honourable Minister of State for Defence (HMOSD), Dr Bello Matawale particularly congratulated the Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen TA Lagbaja and Nigerian Army in general, for this major achievement and encouraged them not to rest on their oars in their efforts in fighting insecurity in the country.

Politics / Matawalle’s Vision Brings Prosperity As Zamfara Soars With 10.2b Ng-cares Windfa by Omonaijablog: 11:02am On Dec 12, 2023
MATAWALLE’S VISION BRINGS PROSPERITY AS ZAMFARA SOARS WITH 10.2 BILLION NG-CARES WINDFALL

In the dynamic era of Governor Bello Matawalle’s leadership, Zamfara emerged as the frontrunner, securing an impressive 5.2 billion from the Federal Government’s NG-Cares funds, solidifying its status as a beacon of progress.

During Gov Bello Matawalle’s tenure, Zamfara stood out, leading the pack as the Federal Government generously distributed 45.3 billion NG-Cares funds to states, with the state showcasing exceptional performance in the initial tranche aimed at mitigating the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact.

Receiving a staggering 5.2 billion in the first round, Zamfara’s judicious handling of the funds and strategic investments paved the way for even greater success in the subsequent allocation of over 135 billion to states, where the state now received a substantial 10.2 billion.

Despite the monumental achievements orchestrated by Matawalle’s administration, detractors and political pundits seem reluctant to acknowledge Zamfara’s windfall.

The 10.2 billion, a testament to Matawalle’s relentless efforts, remains overshadowed by critics who, in their blame-game, risk obscuring the state’s triumph.

As the so-called rescue team takes charge, the spotlight is on Zamfara.

Matawalle’s supporters hope that the funds will be harnessed for their intended purpose, steering the state towards unprecedented benefits. However, there’s a stern warning – any misappropriation will not go unnoticed, and those responsible will be held accountable.

As Matawalle bounces back in Sha Allah, the future holds promise for Zamfara under his leadership, with the hope that prudent use of the funds will elevate the state to new heights. In Sha Allah, Matawalle’s impending return signifies a potential chapter of prosperity on responsible stewardship of the newfound financial opportunities.

Despite Matawalle’s stolen mandate, he did not derail in his mission as Zamfara people are in his mind. He bequeathed this money as contained in the records handed over. This is the appropriate time I felt this should be explained to the public. Because the faultfinders were only busy making unnecessary noise in an attempt to smear the hard earned reputation of our Principal.

Politics / Atiku Abubakar Would Run For President In 2027 " -zamfara Gov. Dr Dauda Lawal by Omonaijablog: 1:27pm On Dec 06, 2023
"Despite the political robbery being plotted against him, Atiku Abubakar would run for president in 2027 " -Zamfara Gov. Dr Dauda Lawal

In an unexpected emergency meeting called by the governor of the Democratic Party-controlled state, the executive governor of Bauchi, Senator Bala Mohammed, presided over a discussion about the opposition party's beliefs in the nation. However, based on reports, the meeting resulted in divergent viewpoints among the participants.

Some sources revealed that, the meeting which took place on Thursday of last week at the residence of a PDP governor in Abuja. Following the opening prayers led by Senator Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, the agenda included a meeting with Atiku Abubakar, the country's serial presidential candidate, to advise him to stay out of politics and assume the role of an elder statesman following his defeat in multiple elections and to recommend a trusted candidate to take on the APC in 2027.

Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, was informed by Zamfara State governor Dauda Lawal about the meeting agenda. Lawal informed Abubakar that some unpatriotic PDP governors were plotting to have him retired from politics, which would be a grave act of political suicide. As a result, Abubakar should not schedule any meetings with Nigerian PDP stakeholders or any PDP governors.

According to the report, immediately following the meeting, former vice president Atiku Abubakar summoned the attendees and candidly revealed to them what governor Dauda of Zamfara State had informed him about their villainy meeting. He also gave them his word that he would still run for president in 2027, comparing himself to Gen Muhammadu Buhari, who as fate would have it, had contentested three times and before securing the office of the president.

“I am Sorry; I don’t Know What Came over me – Chioma Egodi Jnr Tenders Apology to Erisco Foods Over Misleading Facebook post

Facebook user, Chioma Egodi Jnr, has again come out to tender her apology to ERISCO Foods for her distorted claim against the leading indigenous food processing company.

“I apologise for any discomfort or inconveniences my actions may have caused by its release on the social media loop,” Egodi stated.

But her apology has elicited mixed reactions: while some condemned her for misleading Nigerians, others believe she may have been paid to bosh the image of the leading indigenous food processing company.

It will be recalled, on September 17, Egodi had alleged on her Facebook page, highlighting the high sugar content in the tomato paste and inviting her followers who might have used the same product to share their opinions.

In her apology letter, Chioma Egodi said she realized that she made a weighty mistake by lying about the product. She said she was deeply sorry for the harm she caused to the company, its customers and the public. She also said she would retract all her earlier posts on the matter immediately and do anything within her power to rectify all the things she did wrong.

Crime / Bank Fraud! Tribunal Slams N120m Fine On Demola Sogunle Led Stanbic-ibtc Bank by Omonaijablog: 9:53am On Jul 14, 2023
Bank fraud! Tribunal slams N120m fine on Demola Sogunle led Stanbic-IBTC Bank

The Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal (CCPT) sitting in Abuja on Thursday imposed a fine of N120 million against Stanbic-IBTC Bank over the bank’s failure to complete a transfer request for a customer.

In a split decision of two to one, the tribunal convicted the bank for contravening the provisions of Section 130(1)(a) of the FCCP Act, 2018 and Section 5(2)(cool and (9) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Regulation on Instant Interbank Electronic Transfers.

The tribunal said the fine was imposed due to the bank’s failure to comply with the 10 minutes or at most one hour mandatory timeline for failed transfers to be reversed as provided by Sections 154 and 155 of the FCCP Act, 2018.

The lead judgement delivered by Hon. Sola Salako-Ajulo also ordered the bank to pay the claimant, Mr Clement Osuya, the sum of N1 million as cost of filing the action.

“The tribunal holds that in as much as the defendant (IBTC) failed to comply with the two instructions of the claimant to transfer the sums of N500,000 to another account in Access Bank, as no transfer took place at both times, defines that the defendant breached the banker-customer contractual relationship between the two parties,” Ajulo said.

The tribunal, however, refused to award the sum of N5 million to Osuya as compensation on the grounds that he failed to prove any injury he suffered as a result of the failure of service delivery by the bank.

Hon. Ibrahim Yakubu concurred with the verdict of Salako-Ajulo while the presiding judge, Hon. Chuma Mbonu disagreed and gave a minority judgment.

Mbonu in his minority judgment held that the tribunal lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the petition.

According to him, the tribunal has the powers of appellate jurisdiction and not of original jurisdiction and he consequently struck the suit out for lacking in merit.

The News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) reports that Osuya had filed a petition against the bank  challenging the failure of the bank on two occasions to transfer the sum of N500,000 from his IBTC account to his Access bank account.

He claimed that the money was for the payment of school fees for his children.

He told the tribunal that on Sept. 8, 2022, he filled out a form under NIS Instant Payment option for a transfer of the sum of N500,000 to his Access Bank account.

Crime / Akinola Taylor Led Heritage Bank Head Of IT Diverts N49B, Disappears by Omonaijablog: 1:17pm On Jun 14, 2023
Akinola George Taylor Led Heritage Bank Head of IT Diverts N49 Billion into Separate Accounts, Disappears

Heritage Bank led by Akinola George-Taylor, one of Nigeria’s lending establishments is once more engulfed in the web of severe crisis shaking it to its very roots.

Fresh information from informed sources at the bank indicates that Heritage Bank appears to have seen better days as this is as ENigeria Newspaper reports that among the catalogue of issues currently hanging around the lender’s neck as the proverbial hangman’s noose includes, a serious boardroom crisis which has seen the edging out of allies of its former Managing Director and Chief Executive, Ifie Sekibo from the board of the moribund bank.

Further investigations by this newspaper revealed that apart from the issues of “Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) and the Liquidity Ratio (LR), the commercial bank is also grappling with many other crises that tend to threaten its survival. One of them is its poor services which are staring its customers in the face. Already, most of the bank’s branches are awash with complaints of unsatisfied customers whose singsong is their plans to close their accounts due to the long hours they experience to get services from Heritage Bank staff.

There are also strong indications that the lender which is currently on life support is only an inch away from the harmer of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Heritage Bank’s Boardroom crisis worsens, Ifie Sekibo’s loyalists edged out

You would recall that, months ago, ENigeria Newspaper reported that Ifie Sekibo, a banking legend and boardroom guru who was the founder of the bank bowed out upon the expiration of his tenure in line with the directive outlined by the apex bank.

This Newspaper exclusively reports that since his exit, things have reportedly further degenerated on the watch of the new helmsman, Akinola George-Taylor who is said to have allegedly connived with other members of the board to frustrate loyalists of his predecessor.

Even though George Taylor is faced with the huge challenge of reviving the fortunes of the ailing bank and drive growth, sources say he has instead, allegedly, instigated multiple internal crisis, in an attempt to rid the bank of those suspected to be loyalists of some board members, and employ his own people. This is according to an account by a reliable source in the bank.

“Some key members of the board, connived with the MD (George-Taylor) to sideline others who are considered to be loyal to Ifie and as for other members of staff who are in the same category, they have been sacked with immediate effect and that includes, Rilwan Dabiri, head of IT department in the bank and over 70 others”, the source concluded.

On the other hand, another source who spoke to us on the condition of anonymity said, “Although many have been sacked from the Bank, most of them have been indicted in one fraud or the other, thus their sacking by the new management is justified”. The source further stated that only a few who were hit by the mass sacking are victims of circumstance.

Under Akinola George Taylor, Heritage Bank’s Head of IT Diverts N49 Billion into Separate Accounts, Disappears

Meanwhile, ENigeria Newspaper also learned that Rilwan Dabiri upon exit handed over the IT department to his successor who is simply identified as Akin. Since resuming his new position as head of IT, Akin had allegedly been engaging in serious insider fraud which includes unauthorized transfer of funds from the bank’s coffers into private bank accounts which he secretly operates without the knowledge of his employers.

According to the bank’s structure, only the head of IT has sole access and operates the Finaco platform which is solely used for online transfer of funds in the financial sector. For this reason, Akin who has unfettered access to the platform seized the opportunity to initiate multiple transfers of about N49 billion into six accounts domiciled in six commercial banks in Nigeria.

His escapades were soon exposed following an internal audit per the instruction of the bank’s MD, George Taylor which reportedly exposed the mega fraud. Upon further interrogation, he was only able to drop one of the six accounts before disappearing and switching off his phones.

The management of the bank is afraid of inviting the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to open an investigation for fear of stirring up the hornet nest.

It remains to be seen how the new leadership of Heritage Bank Plc under the watch of Akinola George-Taylor intends to steer the lender off troubled waters, but key indicators suggest that things are not good.

Meanwhile when we contacted Ozenna Utulu, head of Corporate Communications of Heritage Bank on Wednesday morning for official reaction via SMS, she neither acknowledged receipt, nor responded to our message sent to her MTN line.

Crime / TINGO Boss, Dozy Mmobuosi On The Run, Lagos Office Shut by Omonaijablog: 1:28pm On Jun 10, 2023
TINGO boss, Dozy Mmobuosi on the run, Lagos office shut

Tingo Group has been in the news lately over hoax claims of stream of bogus investment as exposed by Hidenburg.

The news coming out now is that the founder Dozy Mmobuosi has escaped to south America country to evade arrest and prosecution. A source said the choice of his destination is to avoid a possible extradition.

While no one can concretely defend Tingo with verifiable data of his thousands farmers and mobile telephone subscribers, the LAGOS office in Marina has been shut and staff asked to stay away.

Tingo’s voyage into the Nigerian entertainment business last year was said to be an eye opener as to the capabilities and dubious nature of the acclaimed multi-billion empire. The company was said to be major sponsor of WONDERLAND in Lagos while its payment platform claimed to be the best was no where to be found to execute the project. It was a smokescreen for many that Tingo after all may be another Ponzi laundering scheme.

Hindenburg alleged on its website: it came to the knowledge that Mmobuosi, the founder, falsely professed to hold a PhD in rural advancement from a Malaysian University in 2007 after the school said no such name features in its record.

The 43-year-old is the chief executive at Tingo International Holdings, the parent company of Tingo.

The investment research house stated that Mr Mmobuosi claimed to have created Nigeria’s first mobile payment app. In contrast, the actual developer of the app has described the assertion as “a pure lie.”

Politics / Zamfara Returning Officers Threatens By Abuja Inec Staff Over Change Of Gov Resu by Omonaijablog: 5:18pm On May 07, 2023
ZAMFARA RETURNING OFFICERS THREATENS BY ABUJA INEC STAFF OVER CHANGE OF GOV RESULT

Information reaching news men had it that some officers at the INEC national headquarters Abuja had invited some ad-hoc staff that participated in the conduct of the 2023 governorship poll in Zamfara were invited to Abuja for them to sign some suspicious documents related to the conduct of the Governorship election.

The invitation according to a source, is connected to the plan by some staff members of the Commission to alter with the results of some local governments ahead of the commencement of the Governorship election petition proceedings.

The alleged action is being masterminded by one of the relations of the Zamfara PDP gubernatorial candidate Dauda Lawal who is also a staff of the legal department of the INEC in Abuja as he vows to ensure that he will uses his connection to favour the PDP candidate Dauda Lawal against the popular decision of the people who voted legitimately for Governor Bello Matawalle.

The PDP candidate Dauda Lawal has became scared of the grounds established by the APC at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal and he is working tirelessly with some unpatriotic INEC staff to get the Maradun result and other results from the rest of the local governments altered

Those invited to Abuja include the State returning officer for the Zamfara Governorship election, collation officers for Anka, Bakura, Maradun, Bukkuyum, Tsafe, Zurmi, Shinkafi Gummi, Gusau, Bungudu, Maru, Birnin Magaji and Kaura Namoda.

Others invited include ward collation officers for Damaga/Gama Giwa, Kaya/Dosara , Faru/Magami, Gora and Janbako wards.

The source added that Maradun is becoming a source of concern to the PDP and indeed the INEC staff accused because it has constituted the basis of the petition filed by the APC challenging the victory of the PDP at the 2023 governorship polls.

The source said arrangements for setting up of a new result sheets have been made although the same INEC has issued a certified true copy of the result sheets for Maradun and other local government areas.

It was also gathered that, monetary inducement has been made to influence the returning officers to accept the new deal and alter the result sheets as planned.

INEC national headquarters need to take a thorough check at the shoddy deal allegedly taking place within its legal department hence someone within its legal team is masterminding the alleged change of result of Zamfara Governorship poll due to his family relationships with the PDP Governor elect.

Properties / 'adron Homes Is Fraudulent' -customers Drag Company, Share Dreadful Experiences by Omonaijablog: 9:05am On May 06, 2023
Adron Homes has been called out, as its customers took to social media to lament their awful experiences with the real estate firm.

The customers, who had purchased properties from Adron Homes, complained that the company failed to deliver on its numerous promises, including the allocation of lands even after payments had been made.

Some of the customers also accused Adron Homes of using deceptive marketing tactics to lure customers into purchasing properties, such as promising unrealistic returns on investment.

”Adron Homes is a fraudulent company. They allocated a piece of land in Shimawa, near the RCCG area, and gave a complementary bag of rice and keg of groundnut oil. Shimawa had experienced a developmental boost due to the presence of the Redeemed church. However, years after almost completing the payment, Adron Homes reallocated the land to an entirely different area, a proper tropical rainforest. This action seemed like a breach of agreement, so we decided to back out and requested a refund. Unfortunately, their terms and conditions booklet is heavily loaded in their favor, which protected them. They charged a huge percentage of the money as a default fee and even demanded we return the bag of rice and keg of groundnut oil we received before they refunded a ridiculous amount…” one of the customers, @Engr_Series, wrote.

Adron wey collect money for my hand and tell me told me to oay 1.5m for development fee on half plot i just kuku dash dem d money Adron na fraud,” @vantundenani wrote.

However, while many people continued to share their awful experiences with Adron Homes, others spoke glowingly of the real estate firm.

”Actually I have seen, both local and overseas guys that buy and build. As an architect I have also designed, supervised and built houses for clients in Adron homes. I think the best advise is just pay your money in full, collect your land where you paid for and start building,” @aramitunji wrote.

Another Twitter user, who ruled out insinuation that Adron Homes is fraudulent, attributed people’s bad experiences with the real estate company to their inability to ask questions and read their terms and conditions.

”In simple truth, Nigerians love the idea of living in an estate, and, the state of the earth’s infrastructure and the serenity of the real estate company puts in place drives them to buy. In the case of Adron Homes, I personally took families and friends to go buy from them after reading carefully the terms and conditions. I went there and saw massive infrastructural work and I asked how the company manages to put all these amenities such as concrete roads, drainages, dedicated power supply, and other amenities I saw when I was taken on inspection I was told one has to pay for the infrastructural charges to build and I agreed cos I can see what I’m paying for and why it was necessary. I intend to build and resell some acquired plots of land just when it’s ripe for reselling. The problem is that people don’t ask questions,” @Bodmas18_ wrote.

In response to what he described as an unestablished accusation of Adron Homes, one of the company’s marketers, who pleaded not to be mentioned in this report, told BizWatch Nigeria that a lot of people don’t have an idea of how real estate works.

When asked if it’s true that people don’t get their lands allocated to them after payments, the marketer explained that Adron Homes has a policy that only those that are ready to build get their lands allocated to them.

”We don’t allocate lands to people until they are ready to build, and this is a transparent policy. It is clearly written in the documents we present to our clients. This is because we marketed these properties with the promise to provide social amenities, and security, amongst other things. Tell, how do you want us to provide security for someone who has a house in one of our estates, but is surrounded by bushes because the land owners that are supposed to be his or her neighbour aren’t ready to build?” he queried.
