The Federal Government has approved the establishment of three Almajiri schools in Oyo State.
The Minister of State for Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike, made this known in Ibadan on Friday during a courtesy call on Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
Wike, who was in the state to assess the progress of work at the construction site of the schools, said the one in Oyo town would be ready in May.
He, however, said the contractor handling the school building in Ibadan had been ordered to leave the site because of the poor quality of work.
The minister said the construction of such schools across the federation was in line with President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign promise to make education accessible to all children.
He also said the N1.09 billion Universal Basic Education fund allocated to the state in 2011 and 2012 had not been accessed, adding that this would be deployed to boost the education sector.
Responding, Ajimobi said his administration was determined to access the UBE fund before the end of April.
The governor, who commended the minister for approving the Almajiri schools in the state, urged the federal government to increase the number to five in order to cater for the many nomads in the rural areas of Oyo North.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the minister was accompanied on the visit by senior officials of the Universal Basic Education Commission.

Onlytruth: Nobody says otherwise.
I'm worried about the much I read so far. The man either doesn't have a Masters degree or he did not complete the National Youth Service Corp (which is equally serious! ). So, which is it? How can he be CBN boss with either first degree or dogded NYSC?
He can't win either way. cool
Aside Soludo, Isong and Ogwuma, how many other CBN govs hold a second degree or higher?
Chiroma even has only a first degree in History and he was the CBN gov.

A good first degree in a relevant discipline and considerable experience suffices, IMO.

ekt_bear: Nchara. What I do is basically something related to applied math.

The 'data' for us is some simulation that we run that shows that our theoretical result in fact coincides with real life.

When I wrote the conference paper, I had a certain result. Ran some simulations to show that my theory matches reality.

By the time I wrote the journal version (which expanded and cleaned up the conference results), there was no reason to regenerate the same plots. That I obtained a sharper mathematical result doesn't mean I need to re-run the simulations again.

Heh.

I understand that this is difficult for you to comprehend. After all, you have a crop production brain, not a brain like mine cheesy
Then: ''I used same data for two published papers''-Dapo Bear
Now: ''I used data from a conference proceedings to write a published paper'' - ekt_bear.

Remember also you claimed to be helping illegal immigrants.

You are a fraud and a fraudulent liar.

ekt_bear: huh

wtf?

I wrote a conference paper. Then wrote a journal paper which was an expanded version of the same thing. The journal is in fact published, and references the conference paper.

Since the journal was a superset of the contents of the conference, of course they'll contain the same plots. Would make no sense to regenerate the simulations...

I am not an experimental scientist like you (you are a crop production dude, iirc) where running a biology experiment is the main contribution of the paper...

Simulations demonstrate the empirical performance of what you developed, and aren't the key aspect.

Anyways..
You claimed you used the same data (presented in a different form) for your published papers. On that basis, you are a big fraud. Anyways, no need to waste my time with you.

Onlytruth:

CBN's website describes Sanusi as having degrees in Economics and Islamic law. Not precise what degrees (BS, MS) are those? On that basis, he has a leeway to obfuscate the facts of his qualifications.

http://www.cenbank.org/AboutCBN/RetiredExecutive.asp?Name=Mr.+Sanusi+Lamido+Sanusi+%28CON%29

But again, the new WB head has no Economic/Banking degree. Thus, difficult to fault Sanusi based on his degrees.

I am not saying, "you are not permitted to say that up is up in this thread."

I am saying, "if you believe that up is in fact down (as Nchara does), let's discuss that in another thread."

Anyways..
Then you are also a fraud. I recall you wrote here how you manipulate your data to use same data in more than one publication. Yours is even worse.

LG discovers carpenter’s name on scholarship list
April 24, 2012 by Femi Makinde 1 Comment

The Caretaker Chairman of Irepodun-Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Major Tajudeen Awe (retd), has uncovered a fraud in the award of scholarships to indigenes of the state.

Awe, who said this in an interview with journalists in Ado-Ekiti, said that he was shocked to see the way the fraud was carried out before he assumed office.

The council boss added that he was surprised to see his carpenter’s photograph and name as one of the beneficiaries of the scholarship.

Awe said the council had lost some money to the scholarship fraud before his appointment, adding that he had to fashion out a way of curbing the crime.

He said, “Immediately I sighted the name of the carpenter I suspected a fraud in the whole arrangement. It was not hard for me to know that the man (carpenter) was not qualified for scholarship. I know him very well, he is a carpenter and he works for me.

“I accosted him and he told me that somebody just asked him to submit his passport photographs to process scholarship.”

The council boss said he introduced payment of scholarships with cheques to curb the criminal act.

Awe explained that he would not stop the scholarship because he also benefited from a scholarship when he was a student.

He denied interfering with the election of the students’ union body in the local government.

The Oyo State Police Command, Eleyele in Ibadan have paraded two suspects who allegedly killed a 42-year old woman, Mrs. Sekinat Emiola.

One of the suspects, Asimiyu Ayantayo the lover of the deceased allegedly beheaded her and cut off her two hands after making love with her.

PARADE: Asimiyu Ayantayo, who allegedly beheaded his lover, Mrs. Sekinatu Eniola, (right) and his alleged accomplice, Isiaka Akalei, at the Eleyele Police Headquarters, Ibadan,

But the suspect claimed that the deceased died as a result of the killer charm(magun)that was placed on her by another man.

According to him, after love-making with the deceased, she, possibly, under the spell of magun, somersaulted and died.

But, when asked why he beheaded her after killing her, he said he never wanted to use her for rituals but to make it impossible for residents in the area to identify her.

He said: “She was my mistress. I contacted magun on her during love-making. She wanted to summersault but I helped her. Then she started vomiting after the act and she fell down from the chair and died. It was then I beheaded her and cut off her two hands. I don’t need the body parts for anything and I did nothing with it.”

His accomplice, Mr. Isiaka Akanbi, also denied involvement in the act, saying his friend only sent him to buy a sack for him but did not know the purpose for which he needed it.

The parade of the suspects attracted many sympathisers at Eleyele area who thronged the State Police headquarters to catch the glimpse of the suspect and the gory picture of head and the hands that were severed by the suspects.

Speaking with newsmen on the incident, the Oyo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Tambari Mohammed the neighbor of the deceased alerted the police about a headless body dumped in the area.

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspected ritualists, Asimiyu and Femi. The suspects were arrested on Sunday at Oke-Aremo, Ibadan, after they allegedly killed a mother of four, Mrs Sekinat Emiola (42).

The state Commissioner of Police (CP), Tambari Yabo Muhammed, while addressing journalists at the Eleyele headquarters of the command, said the suspects had confessed to the crime and would soon be charged to court.

According him, Asimiyu was having affair with the deceased and after having sex with her last Thursday night, Asimiyu allegedly killed her by chopping off her head and hands, and used a container to collect her blood.
Asimiyu was said to have cut the head and the hands of his victim, put them inside a sack, while he hired Femi to assist him in burying Emiola in a shallow grave at Oke Aremo cemetary, Yemetu, Ibadan.

The residents of Oke Aremo later found the lifeless body of the woman and reported to the police at Yemetu Police Station.
They were said to have taken the lifeless body to a mortuary but it was rejected by the hospital.
Police were said to have opened the sack and discovered the lifeless body of the woman.
According to the police boss, it was after this discovery that investigation into the matter began on Sunday, leading to the arrest of the suspects.

The suspects later took policemen to the cemetery where the head and the hands were recovered from the shallow grave.
On investigation, Muhammed said Asimiyu opened up that he killed the woman because her husband had laced her with traditional medicine (Magun) and since the medicine did not affect him, somebody had to die.
Asimiyu confessed that he used cutlass to cut the woman’s head and hands before taking them to the cemetery where they were buried.

Muhammed therefore called on residents of the state to be wary of those they called friends and report every suspicious person to the police before any harm could be done.

Five arraigned for assault with faeces
April 24, 2012 by Agency Reporter 8 Comments

The Police in Lagos on Monday arraigned five persons before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court for alleged assault and pouring of faeces on three persons.

The defendants are: Joke Usanni, 40; Monday Joseph, 24; Aminat Ajetumobi, 25; Friday Ogunji, 32; and Bakare Lukman, 21.

However, they pleaded not guilty to a six-count charge of conspiracy, assault and breach of peace.

The Prosecutor, Fola Takunbe, said the accused assaulted Messrs. Abioye Adeola, Abioye Adekanmi and Ologbenla Adepoju, by pouring faeces on them.

The accused, he also said, assaulted two police officers, Augustine Olatunde and Tibiebi Johnson, while they were performing their lawful duties.

Takunbe said the accused conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of public peace.

Magistrate Ademola Adesanya granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until May 5.

Meanwhile, an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, on Monday, issued a warrant of arrest on two defendants and their sureties over their non-appearance in court.

Adesanya said the warrant was issued on the defendants and their sureties based on their absence in court.

“The court cannot wait for the defendants but the defendants ought to wait for the court; a bench warrant is hereby ordered against the defendants and their sureties,” Adesanya said.
