Career / A Younger Boss Doesn't Have To Be A Problem....Find Out How by omorolani(f): 10:13am On Oct 21, 2013
Ever worked for a younger boss? How was it really, In Nigeria where the issue of respect is highly valued, how do you feel saying Sir, Madam to someone's who's 10 or 20 years younger? Maybe, like me it doesn't really matter to you, but a lot of women find this a rather daunting challenge. With this tips you can look forward to work and age being nothing but a number.

1) THERE'S NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED ABOUT: What matters is that you are doing something productive and meaningful with your life and also, the fact that you have a vision and direction concerning your future. The situation will not last for ever so make the most of it. I know a lady who was transferred to another unit within her organization and found herself in this situation. She worked for her 11 years younger boss for 6 months before she was moved again.

2) RESPECT YOURSELF: Try to avoid situations where you'll need to be put in your place in a way that will make you feel small or uncomfortable. E.g report to work at the appropriate time, take permission when you need to go out, don't engage in social networking during work hours etc.

3)DON'T RUB IT IN: Avoid any body language that will suggest to your boss that the age factor is a big deal to you, or that because you are older, you need to be respected automatically. Sure, everyone wants to a measure of respect but forcing it may lead to resentment and actual disrespect from your boss. You will have to earn that respect with maturity and proper conduct.

4)GIVE A 110%: Firstly, this will help you feel better about yourself and will also earn you the admiration of your boss even if it's not shown. Be proactive and show initiative. Portray a serious woman that knows what she's doing and you won't have to be directed or corrected all the time.

5)UNDERSTAND THE 'LANGUAGE' OF YOUR BOSS: This will go a long way in reducing conflicts and tension. Finding out their likes and dislikes will help to pave the way for a better working relationship. The fact the your boss is younger may mean that there will be differences in approach to tackling day to day issues but it can be smooth if you adapt to their management style. Learning your boss' language will also help you to know how to approach him/her and get positive feedback, when you need to discuss certain issues.

6)I'M ON YOUR SIDE BOSS: Finally, look for avenues to let your boss know that you identify with their vision and desire for success and you're willing to co-operate to see it achieved.

Fashion / Top 6 Reasons Why Your Skin Cream Isn't Working by omorolani(f): 2:46am On Oct 19, 2013
1) IRREGULAR USE. Use at least twice a day, morning and night.

2) IMPROPER APPLICATION. Try to use it right after a proper bath. Don't just take a quick shower, ensure that dirt, sweat and grime that clog the skin pores are removed as you bathe so your cream really penetrates. Also, don't mop up all the water from your skin after bathing, leaving some water on your skin allows the cream to absorb better.

3) SUN EXPOSURE. Too much exposure to the sun's rays puts alot of strain on the skin and will hinder the effects of your cream from being visible, make sure your cream has adequate sun protection factor(SPF) of at least 15.

4) YOUR DIET. What are you stuffing up on? Eating right (fruits and vegetables and staying away from unnatural sugar) boosts your skin's radiance from within. Oranges and apples especially, are loaded with powerful and natural anti-oxidants that helps prevent your skin's collagen from breaking down.

5) IMPATIENCE. Creams that boasts of 'instant results' usually have harsh chemical components. It usually takes time for your skin to adjust and respond to the products. Try more natural based products instead and stop changing creams constantly.

6) BATHROOM ROUTINE. Please use a gentle cleanser or a beauty bar for your face instead of the regular bar soaps and try to use lukewarm water instead of cold water. It helps to keep your skin's protective layer from being stripped away.

Fashion / What Is A Wardrobe Malfunction? by omorolani(f): 1:55pm On Oct 01, 2013

Fashion / Re: If You Got Beautiful And Glowing Skin Please Share Your Routine Here by omorolani(f): 4:43pm On Sep 27, 2013
DIET: The radiance of one's skin is a direct reflection of what we eat. Avoid too much sugar because the effects of sugar once it's digested results in a dull skin.

Take a lot of fruits and water, especially oranges and apples because they contain natural anti-oxidants that help to strengthen collagen production( collagen in the skin is what reduces dull aging skin and sagging)

SKINCARE: Avoid using creams and soaps with harsh combinations. They may give you that quick glow but it's temporary and will only give you a weather beaten look in future. Go instead for products that are natural or herbal based.

Always use sunscreen when outdoors. The rays of the sun usually reduces the skin's glow, causes discoloration and gives the appearance of a darkened rough look.

Never forget to moisturize. Because your skin is an organ that breathes, it needs continous moisture to boost radiance.

EMOTIONS: Be happy, worry less. A broken spirit affects the body. Forgive quickly and avoid bitterness and you'll look 20 years younger.

Fashion / Re: Pls,does Being Fat,means You Are Ugly? by omorolani(f): 2:27am On Sep 22, 2013
My sis, you are as beautiful as you feel. Inspite of what magazine covers depict, what truly matters is how YOU feel about yourself.

Could it be that you're questioning your self worth based on your size? You are too precious to do that. God sent His son to die for you. even if you had been the only one on earth, He would still have sent His son just for you.

You are a truly special pearl. I used to have this issue before, I felt I wasn't beautiful because I was very very skinny and it affected me a lot but I'm so over that now. How? I just learnt to base my worth on just ONE reason alone-that I'VE BEEN CREATED IN THE IMAGE AND LIKENESS OF GOD.

This goes for you too.God never makes a mistake, he created you in His image and saw that it was good.

You are indeed beautiful.

3) Women are more prone to feeling sleepy during the day because their quality of sleep at night is usually fragmented.

The above is really true. One thing is sure, most of us need it. Pregnancy, age, being less active etc have one way or another made most women add extra pounds that can be very difficult to lose. With the Body Shaper, you can fit the body into a slimmer more shapely form by taking inches off your size thereby allowing you to fit into smaller sizes though you haven't really lost the weight.

Romance / A Smile Is The Most Beautiful Curve On A Woman' Body? by omorolani(f): 11:22am On Jun 06, 2012
Most women would agree but I wonder if men would also affirm this statement. I believe this is just to provoke thought. There' more to a woman than what she look like on the outside. Men take note as you go about your search for "Mrs Right" and ladies, apart from your looks, which I agree is very essential, invest in other areas of your life. Shikena

Family / Re: Please Help Ayomide - An Abandoned Child by omorolani(f): 11:38am On May 03, 2012
It's sad. Children the world over are the most hit by the evils of this world. They are abused, abandoned, raped, killed etc. On my blog recently, I wrote about the customs of a particular tribe that allows kids as little as 10 to get pregnant and have children. Ihttp://sistasconnect..com/ I started the piece by stating that children who should still be playing with dolls are actually acting out real mother roles. We can all make a difference by reporting such cases to at the nearest police station. It is the Police that now contacts the nearest orphanage and makes arrangement for them. No orphanage is allowed to take a child in without a Police report and permit.
