EnterPRO:Yes, as reported on the bank's twitter handle @gtbank_help. |
It appears the banks reduced their limits and stopped the use of their cards outside of Nigeria in reaction to regulatory directive to ensure that their rates are close to the interbank rate. Today, Stanbic and GTbank are communicating to customers on twitter that their indicative rates for the dollar is 320 naira. The Honeymoon is over for them. I am sure they made so much money while it lasted. |

Day11:I just thought to lend my voice to the issue, I do hope it is not belated. I have dealt with Day11 and I didn't have any cause to doubt him. Let me declare my bonafides, I am a newbie on this platform. You can call this an endorsement; Day11 was straight with me when I dealt with him. Cheers |
Mariesio:Let me know if you can do 410. I have got some funds and I can use naira right now. |
Maitommi:how much are you looking at sending. I live in Tanzania. I might be able to help out. |
worry359:Yes, I do intend to hold the documents when I submit my application next week; just in case. I look forward to sharing my experience whether the documents are requested for or not. I am curious to hear the experiences of others in the forum that are also participating in the pilot. Nonetheless, it is such a huge relief knowing that one might not be asked to submit the documents and that the process could be expedited for both applicants and their dependents. |
[ Krimsonkorra:I think QCF_NQF7 would do. Congrats on getting into Cambridge. Are you aware of the new pilot visa rule for those heading into Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial. They are not required to submit financial statements or academic documents in their application. Do you plan to apply under the new rule? |
Greetings Folks, Is anyone getting into any of these four schools: University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, University of Bath or Imperial College London). You might want to check the update to the Tier 4 visa guidance. The update takes effect from July 25 2016. It is a pilot program so it means that those that are eligible do not need to submit both their academic credentials as well as financial statement. Annex 6 Tier 4 Pilot 1. If you are applying to study a Masters course for 13 months or less (excluding the duration of any pre-sessional course) at the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, University of Bath or Imperial College London, you are eligible to participate in the Tier 4 pilot. This includes if you are applying from both outside and inside the UK. 2. Participating in the pilot allows you to: - stay longer after the end of the course - the total length of stay you are allowed is the full length of the course plus six months after the end of the course; - submit fewer evidential documents with your application – you will not be required to submit certificates or documents showing your previous qualifications or transcript of results and documents showing you meet the maintenance requirements. I am reading along with my Book Club http://pulpfaction.org.ng/, two books which were selected for the month of the August: Lola Shoneyin 's 'The Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives' and a new biography of Chief Obafemi Awolowo written by Olufemi Ogunsanwo titled 'Awo: Unfinised Greatness' They are two great reads. |
I have since noticed that Nigerians have made a past time of deploring the pervasive apathy to books and matters of the intellect. Rather than join the fray in nendless jeremiad, I chose to join a group of young people who have created time out of their rather busy schedule to promote the reading culture. There is an online book club called Pulpfaction Book Club http://pulpfaction.org.ng/ that I am associated with. The club has a monthly literary meeting called Book N Guage and its profile is growing by the day. It is kicking off a non fiction group as a follow to the modest success that the fiction book reading events have enjoined. To flag off its inaugural meeting, the club will host Mr Olufemi Ogunsanwo, author ‘Awo: Unfinished Greatness’ (find synopsis for the the book below) for a discussion of his book. The non fiction group is a closed group that will admit 30 people who will commit to reading selected works of non-fiction (Biography, Politics, Management, Leadership , History, Memoirs and Autobiography etc) and be available for monthly discussions with other group members. The inaugural discussion will hold on Saturday 20th August, 2011 between 3-5pm. The venue of the event is Debonair Bookstore, 294 Herbert Macaulay way, Sabo, Yaba. Copies of the book ‘Awo: Unfinished Greatness’ can be procured in fine bookstores around you. Alternatively, the Club can also deliver copies to interested persons. You can reach ‘Damola on 07032487012 and Muyiwa on 08053455929 for enquiries. http://pulpfaction.org.ng |

Chief Obafemi Oyeniyi Awolowo etched his egalitarian standard on the political landscape of Nigeria as premier of the Western Region and carved his niche in “progressive” politics on a plateau which future practitioners of the game will have to ascend to draw inspiration one hundred years from now. He was a legend in his own lifetime. This book, about his career from 1947 to 1987, testifies to his high profile and pedigree. In eight years, he transformed the economy of the Western Nigeria into the “El Dorado” of West Africa. He brought the first television network to Africa’s footstep in 1959 before quitting office voluntarily. No leader in Nigeria has come close to his record of service to his nation since his death in 1987. Twenty years after, his immortal legacy is still the yardstick for measuring political correctness in his country About the author The author, Olufemi Ogunsanwo, grew up in Lagos with primary education at Holy Cross School, attended King’s College, Lagos, and is a Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) graduate of Oxford studied journalism at Columbia Universittty, New York. A former political editor with the Daily Times of Nigeria, he lives a quiet literary life in Abuja, the federal capital city. His other books include General Yakubu Gowon – The Supreme Commander; The Sunday Times – the first 25 years; and his own memoir, Baptism of Fire. |
