Hey Mr. so because your dad was a deadbeat we should discourage other men from helping their wives do the house chores eh considering that this is Africa where boys are made to believe that house chores are meant for the girls only.

I HAVE ALWAYS MAINTAINED THAT THE SECTARIAN
CONTRAPTION CALLED THE APC IS NOT A POLITICAL PARTY
BUT RATHER MORE OF A PRESSURE GROUP. WHICH HAS FAILED
WOEFULLY TO PROVE TO NIGERIA BEYOND EVERY DOUBT THAT
THEY SHOULD BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. I FOR ONE KNOW, AS ALL
ENLIGHTENED MINDS DO THAT WHAT WE HAVE, IS JUST A
COMING TOGETHER OF A HANDFUL WHO HAVE HAD ANY
REASON WHATSOEVER TO COURT EVEN AS LITTLE GRIEVANCE
AGAINST THE RULING PARTY; AND AS SUCH WILL NOT STAND
UP TO THE CHALLENGE OF SALIENT ISSUES BOTHERING ON
NATIONAL INTEREST AS HAS BEEN SHOWN SO FAR. IT IS
NOTEWORTHY THAT IN THE PAST FEW YEARS A NUMBER OF
SUCH PRESSURE GROUPS HAD ARISEN AND HAD
SUBSEQUENTLY METAMORPHOSED INTO FURTHER ENLARGED
PRESSURE ASSOCIATIONS, OF WHICH THE APC HAPPENS TO BE
THE GRANDEST SO FAR. IT IS ALSO NOTEWORTHY THAT
CERTAIN ILLICIT ACTIVITIES OF THIS GANG-UP AT MOST HAS
ONLY HELPED BOLSTER THE HYPE AND MORALE OF THE RULING
PDP WHO SEEM SO FAR WELL PLACED BY ALL INDICATIONS TO
WIN THE MARCH 28 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. THIS IS MORE
EVIDENT AS THE PDP IS CLEARLY DICTATING THE PACE AT
WHICH THE POLITICKING AT THAT LEVEL IS DONE. THE MUCH
WE MAY PROBABLY SEE OF THE OPPOSITION AT THE END OF
THE ELECTIONS IS A CALL TO MASS CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE,
WHICH THE RULING PARTY IS ALREADY BEING SEEN TO BE
CALCULATING TOWARDS. THIS THEREFORE IS NOT TO SAY
THAT THE RULING PARTY HAS NOT BEEN RATTLED AS MUCH AS
CAN TOPPLE EVEN A SOLIDLY STRUCTURED IDEOLOGY BUT HAS
ALSO ENGENDERED IN THE COMMON MAN THE SENSE OF HIS
POWER TO MAKE AND UNMAKE. BUT THEN THE RULING PDP
STILL MAINTAINS THE STRATEGIC UPPERHAND AND WOULD
THUS GO ON TO RETAIN THE NIGERIA NUMBER ONE SEAT OF
OFFICE.
God bless you for this one!!!

Christianity EtcRe: Before, immediately Or After Faith? Wen Do U Receive The Gift Of The Holy Spirit? by oncheckent: 12:46pm On Nov 16, 2014
datguru:
STEPS TO RECIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT

1. Salvation: At this stage, a sinner is convicted of his sins and ungodly life by the power of the holy spirit, then he or she repent of his sin and comes to Christ.

2. Sanctification: After salvation, there is still a tendency to sin, because the desire is still there. That is why you find out that some people will be touched by a particular sermon and you see them crying and running to the altar but immediately after that, step on their shoes and the next thing that comes out of their mouth is "id*iot". The person inwardly will be sober and be like " why did I say this ? , oh God forgive me". The reason for this is because the root of sin is still in that person because at salvation, God forgave him of the sins he committed but the sin of adam was still in him, its is called the adam nic nature, the inbred sin. The person needs to pray very well to be sanctified, it is at this stage after the person is sanctified that he will be able to live a holy life, if you knew the person before, without been told you will see that something has happened to him and the seed of God is now in him, that is why the bible said that he that is born of God can not sin because the seed of God is in him. Hallelujah! This experience of sanctification prepares one to receive the holy spirit, it is after you are sanctified that you can be filled with the spirit of God.

3. Holy spirit baptism: Being sanctified is not a guaranty that the Holy spirit is coming, you have to make an extra move by praying for it, you desire it like food and pray earnestly for it, when at last you are filled, signs will follow. You will speak in a new tongue, you see yourself praying longer than you do, you get committed in the things of God. Occasionally you hear God speak to you, there are many gifts that comes to a person after he is filled with the spirit, the gift of healing, vision, teaching and lots more. The spirit of God in the heart of man is something more than gold, its something un merited
As sound as what you have just said now is, it does not change the fact that it is not true. Tell me where sanctification was talked about outside salvation in the epistles. Upon believing in the heart and confessing with the mouth one is saved and all that the spirit has to offer is present in that believer. You should know that the reason God decided to send jesus to the world was to put an end to our adamic past and become born again, born as if we just began existence and that nature that was of adam is no more. You don't pray for the gift of the spirit, you don't attend bible classes to receive it, its in you, let go of what you were taught in the past and search the scriptures yourself.

PoliticsRe: Ken Saro Wiwa's Last Words Before His Execution On 10 Nov. 1995 by oncheckent: 8:27pm On Nov 11, 2014
Ymodulus:
Ken Saro wiwa is an epitome example of how a country and its government should not let a foreign company exploit them all in the name of Oil, money. Its a trajectory case of an economic prophet seeing the harm a non indeginous company can wreck on indigenes of the location where the company So-Sits.

While I never knew Ken saro wiwa. Having x-rayed his non-violent campaign and struggle for light for his people and the way he his not been imortalised. I am soo worried and had to ask myself several questions about PDP , APC, Nigerian Masses

1. Has Jonathan read about Ken's history?
2. If yes then why has he not used this opportunity to effect change and actualize that goal Ken Saro Wiwa wanted. Why has he failed to realized that this is the time he needs to look beyond Umbrellized covering, so as to do something great for his nation
3. Why has the People Democratic Party not made shell face up for its crimes? Even the united state in 2009 made shell faced for the court for ken saro wiwa killings

Looking at ken saro wiwa struggle and the way he was killed, coupled with the fact that the Nigerian leaders had Saro Wiwa and his movement sentenced to death without option of Appeal all for money, I am troubled that A PROGRESSIVE WILL NEVER RULE THIS NATION

KEN SARO WIWA was a true progressive like GENERAL MUHAMMAD BUHARI. Ken was recognized, valued and cherished by the international community at larged, same way General Muhammad Buhari, Tinubu, Fashola have been worshipped and valued by the international communities.

For a country whose oil resources could have lead it to become one of the wealthiest in Africa, the Niger Delta region remains an impoverished conflict zone and is still dominated by the transnational oil companies which continue to pollute the area’s water and resources.

The memory and the courageous efforts of Ken Saro-Wiwa would live on. I know if he was alive he would have been a member of the All Progressive Congress. Sir Ken, i would like to tell you that even at your death you are already a member. Saro wiwa I love you. But the APC Progressives love you most.

Fellow Nairalanders, the story of ken saro wiwa is a valid reason as to why we need to vote APC to power come 2015. Let me live you with the modified words of a heroic progressive by name Chinua Nkelom Achebe

"There was a progressive" - Albert Chinualumogu Achebe.

Did he or did he not commit the offense he was accused of? You guys should have your facts right before you allow sentiments and not reason guide your words. He was guilty and the law was oblivious of his many virtues.
PoliticsThe First Election by oncheckent(op): 7:47am On Sep 25, 2014
I remember the day dreams I had before admission into the university on who a great social reformer I would become. The reality was mind blowing. I bowed out of my first election, won my second by an hair breath, told to step down for my third and was compensated with an appointment on my fourth. I did not partake in politics in my finals but looking back I sometimes think I shortchanged myself I could have gone ahead to be the faculty president but who knows...
What challenges did you face or are you facing in the murky waters of school politics?
Christianity EtcThe Issue Of Tithe. by oncheckent(op): 11:18pm On Sep 24, 2014
I had always treated the matter of tithing very seriously. When I received my first salary I wanted to gave all I had but somehow I did not and it bothered me for a long time. Whenever things did not go well with me I thought it was because I did not give my first fruit offering. On my second month salary I was unable to pay my tithe talk much less of giving all I had for the first offering cos I was knee deep in debt. With time I started paying my tithe every now and then, sometimes I would skip a couple of months and feel really bad with myself and during the months I paid I was always expecting abundance simply because I had given my tithe.
It took me years but I now understood. I changed churches and I began to see things by myself, I realized that when God told the jews to pay 10% of their earnings to the levites it was actually meant for the levites! Not to the pastors of the new generation but to the levites of the old order. I realized that no where in the new testament was the injunction given by Jesus or any of the apostles to pay tithes and the only place apostle paul made reference to; money, giving and the church was in timothy where he told timothy to make the affluent in the church to give. My pastor aptly puts it, if your pastor could prove beyond all reasonable doubt that he is by genealogy from the tribe of levis then you could pay him 10% of your income and observe the first fruit offering.
Gods blessings are not precipitated by our actions, they are not as a result of our deeds but by his grace. He blesses who he chooses to bless. No actions of ours can move God, it is by faith and by faith alone that our supplication's after being known are answered. #mythoughts

jmoore: Anyone who says virginity is lack of opportunity can be compared to a pig who says being clean is lack of opportunity to be dirty.

Go and date more prostitutes and marry one of them. I have made my choice to marry a virgin, your opinion doesn't count!!!!!
Young man I have been married for 5yrs now and I still find my wife attractive even after a serious loss of shape and two kids. I would never have any extramarital affairs cos it will hold no excitement for me. Once again for a guy being a virgin is a serious lack of openings and opportunities.
RomanceRe: 13 Advantages Of Virginity by oncheckent: 10:11am On Sep 24, 2014
Rapture4real: Very very very correct. Experience from marriage psychology shows that majority of problems in marriages today stem from sexual errors of the past of either party. God knows what He is doing when he says we should stay away from premarital sex. The aftermath pains are far greater than the pleasure. A virgin has no ground to compare your sexual performance to anybody. It reduces tension. From my marriage counselling experience as a pastor, many women who have engaged in such youthful exhorbirance are blaming themselves. But in case you are not one, God's mercy is available for you to cleanse you and restore you Jeremiah 31:1-22. Every impression nolliwood and the world give about sex is a big lie. Follow the Bible, you will be glad you did.rapture is real.heaven at last.remain blessed.
This is the dumbest thing I have heard in days? Did the bible not also tell you not to lie? Did it not say something about not stealing even in the subtlest of ways? What makes pre-marital sex a higher sin? Is an homosexual to be more condenmed than a mere backbiter? The reason haters like you are so vehement about it is cos you never had the opportunity of getting free sex unlike your friends. Am not saying its right but remember this no sin stands on an higher pedastal before God, so all should be condenmed accordingly.

Tear rubber all the way!!!!!!!! wink

Reasons why I will marry a virgin
1- Virgins are brand-new, untouched. I get to commission her. wink
2- No abortion, I don't want to marry the mother of dead children .
3- I don't want to see her ex releasing a new album titled "I hit her first".
4- Free from Stds.
5- It is a sign of self-control which means she has a higher chance to remain faithful when married to me.
6- An Incredible Wedding Day and Night + honeymoon.(A night of two virgins)
7- A great role model for our kids.
Do you know why you are still a virgin? Lack of opportunity!!! And its very sad. What's the big deal about being a virgin? Does that mean she can cook, does it mean she would be respectful? And how are you not sure that once you enter the place you would be able to satisfy her sexual urges? Guy if you don't have a girlfriend that would allow you sleep with her, go carry olosho once and for all, make u know as e dey go. Its not an issue of being a virgin or not, its about character.
I once dated a reformed prostitute and I could have married her but things happened and we broke up due to no fault of hers.
PoliticsRe: British Parliamental System Of Government Vs The American Congressional System by oncheckent: 12:28pm On Sep 22, 2014
bushdoc9919: Well, here it is briefly

In the British system....the people vote for their representatives, who take their seats in parliament, the equivalent of our national assembly.
Then said representatives from the Party which has the higher number of seats choose the Party Leader(who is also a member of Parliament) as the Prime Minister.(If the majority Party does not get above a certain threshold of seats...it may either form a minority government...Labour's 1976 govt, or a Coalition government....the current Conservative-Liberal Democrat Government).

Also, the British system is bi-camereal...two houses...the House of Commons which is (commonly)referred to as the Parliament or just plain Commons, and the House of Lords , which is made up of the hereditary Lords (or traditional chiefs, roughly speaking). Commons chooses the Prime Minister...who is then approved by HM the Queen.(in a formal ceremony known as kissing of hands). Lords used to be more powerful and could overrule the Commons, but reforms brought in in the 90's have reduced its powers.(one of Tony Blair's good ideas).you are very wrong, I mean so so wrong. The said change was way back in the time of king George1. Go and read your books again for the year.

The Americans have Congress, which is bicameral...the House of Representatives and the Senate. The Representatives and Senators are chosen by direct election. The President of the US is chosen by a separate election. Unlike the UK...the President need not come from the majority party in Congress....and the majority party in the Senate may be different from the majority party in the House. (Like right now...the Democrats control the Senate...and the Republicans the House)

I have no preferences. Though in the Nigerian setup, the American system works better because the Parliamentary system unfortunately gets easily compromised by tribalism. The American system also forces the Opposition to compromise with the Ruling party or vice versa.

Op nice piece. You write pretty well. Have you ever wondered if completing the university, graduating with a first class and getting that great job is the perfect step? I know that with a little hard work graduating with a 4.6 gp is not difficult but is that it?
I studied law, graduated with a 2.5, refused to go to law school and NYSC but I got a job with a law firm two weeks searching. I stayed there for a while, switched jobs and although am presently not employed I know I can get a job anytime I feel like it. Yeah they would not be multi nationals, oil firms or the heavy players in the financial sector but there is something they give me that I will never get working with the big boys, INITIATIVE.
I ask my friends about their jobs and what I have found out is that almost everything done is monotonous. Take the guy working in a bank, he can't give a loan no matter how realistic a proposal is except it meets a standard. The guys in the stock brocking firms can't take a leap except the bosses scrutinize and approve it.
What am saying this, what's wrong with getting that great grade have a number of certificates and fellowships here and there but instead of working or going into business try out something creative, outside the norm. Society has dictated to us that having the job, putting a little aside, getting that car, building that house, and retiring with that handsome balance in mutual funds is the ideal pattern. I refuse totally to be compliant, I refuse to be just another guy. We are not original even in our innovations, we say its 'something new' but the idea is an embellishment of something seen or heard somewhere. We talk about opportunities abounding but we still find shelter in the established wood work. We attend schools that teach us little or nothing that would be useful, we slave at jobs that gives little opportunity to be creative, we just go through without making that impact we dreamed about when we were children.
My elder brother is a first class accounting graduate, overall best in his ACCA finals, has numerous fellowships to his name, has this wonderful job but yet lacking in one area, knowledge of the world outside his sphere. When I look at him I tell myself, no child of mine will ever be like him.
I have a friend who does not have a degree but is well sought after by telecommunication companies on a scale that's mad. Erricson offered him a starting salary of 450 that would be reviewed after three months knowing his academic deficiency and he refused. My immediate elder brother has a first class in something that has to do with maths a masters to booth but do you what he does for a living? Public relations!!!
I want to see the youths refusing to allow themselves follow foolhardly societies precepts. Put your brain to better use, see and do things differently and know that destiny is not prescribed but handwritten.
CultureRe: Ile-ife, Final Rest Place Of Oba Of Benin? (picture). by oncheckent: 8:35am On Jul 03, 2014
Orlando Owoh: According to Prof. I. A. Akinjogbin and Prof. E. A. Ayandele in "Yorubaland Up To 1800" in Groundwork of Nigerian History, edited by Obaro Ikimi, page 133, " . . . a living oba of Benin was prohibited from seeing Ile-Ife and why only his corpe (some say only his head) was brought back to Ife to be buried a place still called Orun Oba Ado (the heaven of the kings of Benin) in Ile-Ife.
"The present Oba continue to observe this eewo. In 1937, during an Oba's conference (pelupelu) held at Ife, he refused to stay in Ile-Ife. Instead he remained in Modakeke, outside the Ife wall for the duration of the conference."
What you have just said is untrue, it is a taboo for the oba to leave benin city, so there is no way he could ever have been in modakeke. For you all to know that tradition still stands. And one more thing the benin kingdom was way before ile-ife, and what the yoruba's gave to them was a royal lineage, none of oduduwas sons ever ruled benin.
