Mrs Omowunmi Isaac’s tenure as Commissioner for Finance in Ondo State has, in recent times, become the subject of intense scrutiny in the public space. Yet, a closer and more objective assessment of both her role and the structure of public financial management raises important questions about the fairness, accuracy, and underlying motives of such criticisms.

A UK trained chartered accountant and member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Mrs Isaac brings to office a depth of technical expertise shaped by years in the financial sector. Before her appointment, she served in key capacities including leading the State’s Bureau of Public Procurement, where she gained practical insight into fiscal governance and regulatory compliance. Her emergence as the first female Commissioner for Finance in Ondo State is not only historically significant but also reflective of a broader shift towards inclusive leadership.

However, the current wave of online attacks directed at her appears to overlook a fundamental reality. Public finance in any democratic setting is not administered by a single individual acting in isolation. Under the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the preparation and presentation of the state budget fall within the authority of the Governor, while the House of Assembly is responsible for legislative scrutiny and approval. Ministries, departments and agencies execute expenditures within their mandates, and the Auditor General provides independent oversight of public accounts.

Within this framework, the Commissioner for Finance functions as part of a wider system rather than as its sole operator. The suggestion that one office holder should singularly account for every financial inflow and outflow on a monthly basis reflects a misunderstanding of how governance structures operate. It also risks distorting public discourse by assigning personal responsibility where there is, in reality, institutional accountability.

When measured against tangible outcomes, the financial management of Ondo State under the current administration presents a different narrative. Salaries and pensions have been paid with a regularity that many other states continue to struggle to achieve. Infrastructure development is visible across the three senatorial districts, with road construction, rehabilitation projects and improvements in public services forming part of an observable pattern of expenditure. Security interventions and other government initiatives further reinforce the impression of a system that is functioning, even if not without its challenges.

These outcomes are not abstract claims but developments that residents can see and experience. In this context, transparency is not confined to verbal explanations or public statements alone. It is also reflected in the delivery of services, the execution of projects and the consistent fulfilment of financial obligations.

The performance of the state has also attracted formal recognition. The Debt Management Office of Nigeria recently rated Ondo State highly in its handling of public debt, placing it among the most disciplined in the federation. Such an assessment points to a deliberate approach to borrowing and repayment, one that prioritises sustainability over short term expediency.

In addition, the decision to release billions of naira to settle outstanding gratuities owed to pensioners from previous years signals a commitment to addressing inherited liabilities. For many retirees, this intervention represents more than a financial transaction. It is an acknowledgement of service and a restoration of dignity. The consistent payment of contractors has similarly ensured that projects do not stall, contributing to a cycle of economic activity that benefits both the public and private sectors.

Against this backdrop, the tone and focus of certain criticisms invite further reflection. Why has the spotlight been directed so intensely at a female Commissioner performing within an established institutional framework, while broader questions about governance are either overlooked or selectively framed. The pattern suggests that factors beyond policy and performance may be influencing the narrative.

There is also the question of method. Nigeria’s Freedom of Information Act provides a clear legal pathway for citizens seeking access to public records. It is a mechanism designed to promote accountability through formal engagement rather than speculation. Resorting instead to unverified claims circulated in the digital space risks undermining informed debate and replacing it with conjecture.

It is important to recognise that governance, particularly in the management of public funds, demands both scrutiny and fairness. Constructive criticism has a place in any democracy, but it must be grounded in fact, context and an understanding of institutional roles. Where these elements are absent, criticism can quickly become counterproductive.

Mrs Isaac’s stewardship should therefore be assessed within the realities of the system she operates in and the outcomes that have been achieved. Her professional background, her record in public service and the measurable progress recorded under her watch provide a basis for evaluation that goes beyond rhetoric.

At a broader level, her experience also speaks to the challenges faced by women in leadership within political environments that are often intensely competitive. The expectation that women must not only perform but also withstand disproportionate scrutiny remains a persistent issue. In such circumstances, support from other women and from society at large becomes not just desirable but necessary.

Ultimately, the management of Ondo State’s finances is a shared responsibility embedded within constitutional processes. It is neither accurate nor productive to reduce it to the actions of a single individual. What remains essential is a commitment to evidence based discourse, institutional accountability and a recognition that progress, however incremental, is best judged by its impact on the lives of citizens.

The Office of Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, SAN, typically does not engage in public exchanges of this nature. However, in the interest of setting the records straight and ensuring that due recognition is accorded to all those whose efforts contributed to the realization of the Ore-Ondo-Akure Federal Road Dualization, it has become necessary to respond to the claims made by the office of Hon. Abiola Makinde, member House of Representatives, representing Ondo East and West Federal Constituency of Ondo State.

Hon. Makinde did, in fact, sponsor a motion regarding the dualization of the Ore-Ondo-Akure road during the 9th Assembly. However, the actualization of a project goes way beyond moving a motion on the floor of the House of Representatives. It is, however, a laudable step.Legislative intervention as it relates to getting the Executive arm of Government to approve and execute any project, involves varios steps such as getting the relevant MDA to buy into the project and for the Executive arm of Government to provide for its funding. The Legislature itself recognises this, hence the use of the word "urge" in such motions. Urge, as we all know, means to persuade.The executive arm of the government, therefore, has to be persuaded to approve and execute any project, the subject matter of a motion.

Despite Hon. Makinde’s efforts in the 9th Assembly, the project was neither approved nor implemented at that time. The matter again gained significant traction in the House of Representatives, when Hon. Festus Adefiranye moved a similar motion. Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, SAN, on his part, elected to approach the actualization of the said project from a different angle.

In ensuring the actualization of the project, Senator Adegbonmire played a critical role in ensuring that the project moved beyond legislative discussions to actualization. As a member of the Appropriation Committee of the Senate , he had the strategic leverage to lobby for the necessary funding. Understanding the fiscal constraints involved in executing a project of this magnitude, he held the view that a phased funding approach would be the best option. This would entail first getting the design for the project funded and then lobbÿ for the project to be funded through a special intervention fund. This strategy, in his opinion, would ensure that the financial commitment required for the project was sustainable and achievable.

Senator Adegbonmire, in pursuance of this strategy, made direct appeals through official correspondence to key decision-makers.

On Monday, 13th November 2023, he sent a letter to His Excellency, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, President of the Senate, Federal Republic of Nigeria. The letter, titled:

"A PASSIONATE REQUEST FOR A GRANT OF N600,000,000 MILLION UNDER THE 2024 APPROPRIATION FOR ONDO CENTRAL SENATORIAL DISTRICT, ONDO STATE",

requested the inclusion of N600,000,000 in the 2024 Appropriation for the design of the dualization of Ore-Ondo; Ondo-Akure Road under the Federal Ministry of Works

On Friday, 15th December 2023, Senator Adegbonmire sent another letter to Senator Adeola Solomon Olamilekan, FCA, Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, titled:

"REQUEST FOR INCLUSION OF PROJECT FOR ONDO CENTRAL SENATORIAL DISTRICT, ONDO STATE IN YEAR 2024 BUDGET."

This letter specifically sought the inclusion of a N1 billion allocation for the design of a dual carriageway between Ore to Ondo and Ondo to Akure under the Federal Ministry of Works.


These concrete legislative actions and persistent advocacy led to the successful inclusion of the project in the 2024 Appropriation Act under the code ERGP202460004, securing an initial allocation of N250,000,000 for the project.

Senator Adegbonmire then embarked on the second leg of his strategy by lobbying for the funding of the project through a special intervention fund. These steps have now resulted in what we indigenes of Ondo State now all celebrate.


It is, therefore, misleading and unfair for Hon. Makinde to claim sole credit for the project. Legislative success is rarely the work of one individual. It requires collaboration, negotiation, and the strategic involvement of multiple lawmakers. If the original motion from the 9th Assembly was sufficient, why did the project not commence then? The reality is that it took renewed legislative effort, strategic lobbying, and direct engagement with decision-makers in the 10th Assembly to secure funding and push for its execution.

A relevant example is the upgrade of Adeyemi College of Education to a University of Education. The bill was first sponsored by Hon. Iranola Akinlaja, a former House of Representatives member representing Ondo East and West Federal Constituency. The bill, however, didn't receive the assent of the president before the end of the term of Honourable Akinlaja. It was only when Hon. Makinde reintroduced and championed it in the 9th Assembly that it succeeded.

Senator Adegbonmire is not interested in engaging in a battle over credit. His focus remains on delivering effective representation and ensuring that the people of Ondo Central Senatorial District benefit from meaningful infrastructure and development. However, it is important that history records events accurately. The dualization of the Ore-Ondo-Akure road was achieved through collective effort, and it is improper for anyone to distort the facts for personal political gain.

The Chairman and management team of Ifedore Central Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Ilara-Mokin has as part of her resolve to deepen the Light Up Ondo State agenda of the state Executive Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, procured and installing Thirty (30) Solar power street lights for the communities within the LCDA.


While giving the breakdown of the distribution, the Transition Chairman of Ifedore Central LCDA Hon. Richard Adetoye Adetanmi informed the SUNSHINETRUTH News that, Ilara-Mokin got 15 of the solar light, Ibule-Soro community received 5 while Ipogun community received 10.

According to Hon. Adetanmi Richard, this is the first phase of the project as other communities and the benefiting ones will still get more; adding that “This is just the tip of the Iceberg.”


Hon. Adetanmi appreciated the traditional rulers, community leaders and the people of the LCDA for their unparalleled support and cooperation.


He most especially, saluted the leadership qualities of Governor Aiyedatiwa and described him as a pathfinder and pace-setter judging by His Excellency’s top notch good governance and infrastructural development evident across the length and breath of Ondo State.

••• Says naming Uncompleted Project after Akeredolu is Insincere


Babajide Akeredolu, son of the former governor of Ondo State has asked governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to complete all Projects stated by his father if the governor genuinely wants to honour the late Governor.

Babajide Akeredolu also questioned the sincerity of Aiyedatiwa by naming a yet-to-be-completed project after his late Father.


However, a top government official who pleaded anonymity told Roving Reporters that Babajide Akeredolu’s claims were untrue.


In a statement made available to Roving Reporters on Monday, Babajide Akeredolu also described as ‘lack of courtesy and respect’ for the state government to organize a memorial lecture for his father without involving any member of the Akeredolu’s family.

The Statement reads, “It is important to state unequivocally that Governor Aiyedatiwa was aware of the Akeredolu family’s plans for the remembrance.

“My uncle and head of the Akeredolu family, Prof. Wole Akeredolu, personally informed the governor at his monthly praise night in November at the Dome in Akure.

“The governor acknowledged this and affirmed that the state government would be a part of the event.

“Furthermore, an official invitation letter was delivered to the Director of Protocol, Government House, Mr. George Asonja.

“The letter was duly received and acknowledged. At no point did the governor or his representatives indicate any conflicting plans or suggest that the state government intended to organise a separate event.

“It was, therefore, both shocking and deeply disappointing to learn about the state-organised event through social media, just three days before it was held.

“Even more disappointing was that no member of the Akeredolu family was invited to this event. This lack of courtesy and respect is unheard of and unbecoming, especially for an event meant to honour the memory of a former governor and patriarch.


“While we recognise that the state government has the prerogative to organise such events, basic decency and protocol demand that the family of the deceased be informed and included. This glaring oversight leads one to question if it was intentional mischief or based on erroneous advice from the governor’s aides.

ON THE JUDICIAL COMPLEX AND MISPLACED PRIORITIES

“We acknowledge and commend Governor Aiyedatiwa for performing the groundbreaking ceremony for the proposed Judicial Complex, a project initiated by Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

“As a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a passionate advocate for the judiciary, this project was dear to his heart. However, the current politics surrounding the project are glaring.

“Naming a project after someone before its completion is both premature and insincere.

“True immortality lies in completing the project and ensuring its functionality. If the governor is genuinely committed to honoring Arakunrin Akeredolu’s legacy, he must demonstrate this through actions, not empty gestures.

HOW TO HONOUR ARAKUNRIN AKEREDOLU

“As a former Head of the Project Performance and Implementation Monitoring Unit (PPIMU), I am well informed and involved to advise Governor Aiyedatiwa, if he truly wishes to immortalise Arakunrin Akeredolu. As a matter of urgency, Mr. Governor should prioritise the completion of key projects initiated by our late patriarch:

1. Upgrade Rufus Giwa Polytechnic to a University

All preliminary studies and recommendations for this upgrade were completed during Akeredolu’s administration. The governor should expedite this process to fulfill his predecessor’s vision.

2. Complete the First Flyover in Akure
The flyover at Onyearugbulem Junction, a turnkey project meant to be completed within 18 months, is crawling at a snail speed. Its completion would be a fitting honour to Akeredolu’s commitment to infrastructure development.

3. Address Abandoned Road Projects
-The road construction behind SIB in Akure has been abandoned, Residents are groaning during both the dry and rainy seasons.

– Ijoka Road has deteriorated into a nightmare due to neglect.
– Even the shoddy work done on Oda Road since Governor Aiyedatiwa took over pales in comparison to the quality delivered during Akeredolu’s administration.

4. Support Civil Servants
– Address the glaring discrepancies in salary payments. The so-called minimum wage in Ondo State falls short of the lesser wages paid in other states. When deductions are considered, the high tax element compared to other SouthWest states has made nonsense of the minimum wage.


– In Ondo State, the minimum wage table is short of what was promised and announced by the governor. Even after the approval of the table, Mr. Governor still directed further reduction of the amount again. This is not Akeredolu’s legacy to the civil service.


– Resolve the issue of unpaid deductions, and the lack of funding for ministries and parastatals.

These are the meaningful ways to honour Arakunrin Akeredolu’s legacy. His love for Ondo State and its people must not be diminished by retrogressive policies or political gimmicks.

Governor Aiyedatiwa must halt the vindictive and divisive acts of punishing or ostracizing anyone associated with Arakunrin Akeredolu.

True loyalty and respect for the late governor cannot coexist with disdain for his policies, family, or vision. It is hypocritical and unbecoming of leadership that claims to want to honour the legacy of its predecessor every time the opportunity presents itself.

Let me quickly congratulate the Governor on his victory at the recently concluded governorship election. We urge the governor to take a cue from his predecessor’s courage and conviction.

Lead boldly, stand up for the people, and prosecute your convictions with courage. Politics and governance are mutually exclusive and an everlasting legacy is hinged on effective governance.

The place of governance must not be desecrated with murky water of politics. Leadership demands strength, not a lily-livered approach. Only then will you truly earn the respect and admiration of the people.

We extend our appreciation to the Deputy Governor, who represented Governor Aiyedatiwa at the remembrance event in Owo and at numerous other events that the governor has been “unavoidably” absent. Your presence did not go unnoticed, and we are grateful.

To the people of Ondo State, we remain forever thankful for your love and support. We assure you that we will continue to uphold the legacy of our late patriarch, speak truth to power, and hold leaders accountable.

The Chief Press Secretary to Late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, Mr Olatunde Olabode Richard has rejected the appointment of his name into a Sport Committee in the State.

Reacting to the news of what appears to be his name in the committee list, Olatunde Olabode says he neither hold, nor will he ever hold, any position in Aiyedatiwa-led government.

His full statement:

I have been overwhelmed with numerous calls and messages from family members, friends, and colleagues, both far and near, regarding the recent Sports Association Committee list released by the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye.

It has come to my attention that, under the Gymnastics Committee, there appears a name: "Mr. Olabode Olatunde." For clarity, I am not a member of any committee or team constituted by the state government or the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The individual listed as "Mr. Olabode Olatunde" must be another person who, by sheer coincidence, shares the same name as mine.

I kindly urge my family members, friends, and colleagues to take note of this distinction. I neither hold, nor will I ever hold, any position in this present government-constituted body or committee. Please kindly take note of this and put any further concerns to rest.

Making waves and becoming a technocrat in a chosen profession requires a great deal of hardwork, dedication and zeal. Making impact in his chosen profession is the major driving force for Wale Akinteriwa, an Accountant, and a well grounded Politician.

Adewale Olumuyiwa Akinterinwa, a native of Ile-Oluji town, Ondo State, was born to the family of Mr. Moses and Mrs. Agnes Akinteriwa on 12th of December 1962. He had his Primary education at K. Kotun Memorial Nursery and Primary School, Surulere, Lagos, from where he gained admission to Government College Ibadan in 1974.

Adewale was in GCI from 1974 to 1981, where he obtained both his WASC and HSC. He later proceeded to University of Ife, Ile – Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) where he obtained BSc (Hons) in Accountancy in 1986.

As a certified Accountant, Wale Akinterinwa started his career with the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, where he had his National Youth Service and also worked with Afro Continental Nigeria Limited as an Accountant.
The Ile-oluji born Accountant cum Politician has distinguished himself as a professional both in the public and private sectors. He worked as an Assistant Accountant at Afro Continental Nigeria Limited and also joined Triumph Merchant Bank Plc where he worked at various positions in the organization as an Accountant.


Meanwhile, in 1999, he became the Special Assistant Finance, Investment, and Strategy at Lagos State Development and Property Corporation where he was till 2002.

However, very vibrant and energetic Wale Akinterinwa was sworn in as Commissioner for Finance in Ondo State in 2009 by Dr. Olusegun Mimiko where he displayed exemplary professional skills as far as the issues of finance were concerned. He worked on the Internally Generated Revenue IGR) of the State as it was and recorded great success even though he resigned his appointment subsequently over what had to do with his integrity, yet, he was adjudged to be a prudent financial manager that left billions of naira in the Government accounts.

Notwithstanding, Akinterinwa was re-appointed into the Ondo State Cabinet as the Commissioner for Finance in 2017 and 2021 respectively, a position he holds till date.

As it was during his first stint as the Finance Commissioner, he has been adjudged to be a prudent financial manager, who in the face of stringent financial position of the State has ensured that the present administration has been meeting all her financial obligations as and when due. One of the first things he did was to block every loop hole where Government funds get to private purses.

Also, one of his landmark achievements while in office presently is the restructuring of the State Development Bond to ease some funds for the State. The State Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) has also been experiencing a steady growth under his watch as the Commissioner for Finance.

Wale is a corporate finance professional with strong Managerial strategy, Finance and Accounting background with more than 28 years of excellent training, strategic leadership, mentoring and entrepreneurial prowess in diverse areas of investment banking, project finance management, real estate development, finance and management consulting and public sector engagement.

He is a member of Board of Directors of Gideon Trust Micro Finance Bank with its headquarters in Lagos.
He has also demonstrated remarkable success in implementing strategic initiatives in, and with, several private and public organizations (from Banking to public corporation and institutions) which consistently improved their financial fortunes and market operations performance.

The Ondo State Commissioner for Finance has pioneered and provided leadership for start-ups which have grown to become viable and competitive and has been involved in the restructuring and repositioning of a government parastatal into a very efficient, productive and profitable, self-reliant organization.

Wale is accessible even though very principled but straight forward unlike many politicians who easily renege on their promises. Whatever Wale tells you he would do, he will definitely do come rain come sunshine. He is not the type that pretends, he is always very factual not minding the results.
Meanwhile, to say that Adewale Olumuyiwa Akinterinwa possesses management style and reliable leadership skills is an understatement. No Governor would taste his professional skills and wouldn’t want him again evident from his re appointment by the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu as the State Commissioner for Finance.

He played a pivotal role in the restructuring and the reorganization of the Lagos State Property Development Corporation for improved performance, and this has birthed most of the Government housing estates that changed the landscape of Lagos State during the Administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and subsequent administrations, while ensuring that the existing ones were efficiently managed for profitability.

Wale has severally served in various Governments and party committees both in Lagos and Ondo States in different capacities and it is on record that he always gives his best whenever and wherever he is beckoned to serve.

Wale, a member of Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria attended both Nursery and Primary Schools in Lagos from where he proceeded to Government College, Ibadan. He is an alumni of University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) where he had a first degree in Accounting and MBA and also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.


Wale Akinterinwa had attended various courses at home and abroad on banking, finance, leadership, management and strategic planning.
He was once the House of Representative candidate for Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo/Odigbo Federal Constituency under the Alliance for Democracy in 2003. REVEALED: Ondo Deputy Governor Colludes With Some Commissioners To Circulate Fake Stories About Akeredolu’s health



There is a noticeable unease among the members of the Ondo State Executive Council as the deputy governor reportedly moves to battle the governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, over the governorship seat.

Sources within the government have revealed that the governor has become aware of the deputy governor’s lack of loyalty, Politics Nigeria reports.

While the deputy governor has not officially declared his intention to run in the 2024 gubernatorial elections in the state, his campaign is said to have begun some time ago.

The trouble began when Governor Akeredolu went on vacation and entrusted the deputy governor with the responsibilities of the governor’s office.

During his short stay as acting governor, the deputy governor, it is alleged, prioritized his personal interests over the state’s and the governor’s.

Furthermore, some members of the Executive Council have pointed fingers at the deputy governor regarding the circulation of stories about the governor’s health and subsequent rumors of his demise.

The Exco members, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, revealed that the deputy governor had sparked rumors about the governor’s health.

Expressing disappointment with the governor’s choice of deputy governors, one of the Exco members clarified that Akeredolu’s health was not deteriorating.

He explained: “The deputy governor is behind all these circulating stories. What actually happened was that after the Cabinet meeting three weeks ago and the subsequent courtesy visits, the governor decided to take some time to rest.

“Then, last Sunday, he left Akure for Ibadan in the hope of getting some much-needed rest. The governor has been advised to deliberately spend quality time resting. So, the deputy governor went to Ibadan to visit him and brought along some files.

“However, he didn’t inform the governor or his close aides about his visit. Upon reaching Ibadan, the governor signed the files, which were then returned to him. But the governor didn’t wait to talk to the deputy governor.

“When he returned to Akure, he started telling some of our associates that the governor should transfer power to him. He even attempted to persuade Exco members to support his position.

“He deliberately initiated these rumors about the governor’s health to gain public sympathy and support. The deputy governor lied to us. It was only when we started contacting the governor ourselves that we learned the truth.

“Just last Monday, the governor signed the May 2023 salary. The fact that the ministries are functioning should assure you that the governor is in charge and actively involved. At present, he is upset and pissed with these false stories.”

In a related development, a group called the Renewed Mandate Progressives Forum (RMPF) has accused the Deputy Governor of plotting to cause confusion and seize power from the governor’s office.

The group, in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Maxwell Olajuni, alleged that the deputy governor is inciting other members of the cabinet against the governor.

However, a government insider revealed that the deputy governor has already formed a group within the cabinet.

“The deputy governor has promised the Commissioner for Mines and Energy, Rasaq Obe, that he would be his deputy if their plan to remove the governor from power succeeds. Furthermore, he has assured the current Chief of Staff, Gbenga Ale, that he would appoint him as Secretary to the State Government.

*“Unfortunately, the duo of Rasaq Obe, Wale Akinlosotu (Commissioner for Culture and Tourism), are all vying to become Aiyedatiwa’s deputy governor.*

No fewer than Two thousand (2000) youth drawn from across the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State participated at the first of its kind Progressive Youth Festival held on 5th February, 2022 at the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital

The festival, organised by the All Progressives Congress National Youth Lobby Committee under the auspices of the Office of the APC National Youth Leader, Hon. Ismaeel Ahmed, brought together not less than 30,000 young people from the six South West states and Kwara State to demand for better representation and galvanize more young people to contest for political offices starting from the party convention and the 2023 general elections.

The outing for the Sunshine State Youth was packaged and powered by the Progressive Youth Stakeholders (Ondo State Chapter) under the leadership of it's National Coordinator, Engr. Babajide Akeredolu, who doubles as the Director-General, Performance and Project Monitoring Implementation Unit (PPIMU) in the state.

The event attracted various commendation from the youth who described the event as unprecedented which no doubt will spur them to actively engage more in the political activities of their respective communities.

Furthermore, Ondo state youth who attended the event also applauded the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN for his youth-friendly government which they explained has continued to give youths in the state the much needed platform to thrive in many sectors of the state.

Also speaking at the event, the State Cordinator of the Pentagon Movement Group (PMG) Lulu Fawehinmi stated that the time is now for youths in the nation to step into the light by actively committing themselves to politics, he also stated that the youths in the nation must take leverage of the rising momentum of youth advocacy in Nigeria to reposition themselves for the year 2023.

Akeredolu is one of the most underrated Governors in Nigeria's history. He has been greatly exceptional in the area of infrastructural development, Industrialization and security. I hope he put more focus on Salary payment but i understand the present economic challenges of the country. - Ondo state government has reduces school fees of AAUA

- The institution's acting registrar, Opeoluwa Akinfemiwa, made this known in a statement issued on Thursday, August 27

- Akinfemiwa said the reduction of school fees was to cushion the effect of COVID-19 on the parents.

Following the economic hardship occasioned by the novel coronavirus pandemic, the management of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) Ondo state, has reduced the school fees of the institution.

The Nation reports that the information is contained in a circular issued by the Acting Registrar of the institution, Opeoluwa Akinfemiwa, on Thursday, August 27, in Akungba Akoko.


Legit.ng gathered that Akinfemiwa said that decision of the management of the institution to reduce the school fees was to alleviate the economic effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on parents and students.

The statement read: “I write on the directive of the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga E. Ige to inform all returning students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko that following an earlier appeal by students, and in view of the economic effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on parents and students, Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu, has directed that the university should consider a reduction in school fees in a way that quality education can still be sustained.


It further stated that the returning students of the Faculty of Sciences would now pay N120,000 instead of N150,000 while the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences returning students would pay N120,000 instead of N150,000.

“The returning students of the Faculty of Arts will pay N80,000 instead of N100,000.00, the returning students of the Faculty of Education will pay N80,000 instead of N100,000 and the returning Law students will still pay the old fee of N150,000,” the statement read.

The statement urged the students of the institution, therefore, to take advantage of the reduced fees by paying their school fees and registering for their courses without any further delay. (NAN)

Governorship aspirants who participated in the July 20, Primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have come together to work for the re-election of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in the forthcoming October 10, gubernatorial poll.

Leaders of the party including Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN and the deputy Governor designate, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa met on Sunday to strategize ahead of the August 22nd local government and the October 10, governorship elections in the state.

The Governorship aspirants include; Olusola Oke SAN, Chief Segun Abraham, Isaac Kekemeke Esq, and others who were represented.

Other leaders of the party at the meeting were; Senator Ajayi Borrofice, former Vice Chairman of the APC (Southwest) Chief Pius Akinyelure, immmediate past Vice Chairman (Southwest) Mr. Bankole Oluwajana Esq, Dr. Paul Akintelure, Prof. Bayonle Ademodi, Chief Bode Sunmonu and the state chairman of the party, Engr. Briefing newsmen after the closed door meeting, Kekemeke who spoke on behalf of the leaders said the meeting was a clear demonstration that leaders of the party in the state have returned from the battle field to work together.

He said they have all decided to work together as a party so that they can jointly win both the local government and Governorship election together.

Kekemeke stressed that leaders of the party have resolved that there is no other home than the APC and that there is no other candidate than Governor Akeredolu.

He said:”We have decided that our party is bigger than all of us. We have applauded the Governor for his address today wherein he titled a new beginning. We have a bigger party . It can only be better. We, as stakeholders have resolved to appeal to our candidate that all internal cleavages are resolved.”

Kekemeke said the unity in party was the beginning of what the people of the state should expect, stressing that the party is ready and prepared to win the coming elections.

"We have resolved to work together for our victory in the August 22nd, local government election and the October 10, governorship election. We will win better than we have ever won before.” Kekemeke stressed.

Earlier at the meeting, Governor Akeredolu called for a new beginning where party cohesion and unity will be the watchword with the ingredients of democratic enterprise inculcated and imbibed.

“Persuasion, negotiation and consensus-building should be the hallmark of the new improved All Progressives Congress in Ondo State. It must be emphasised that we have a lot to benefit as long as our party remains in government in Ondo State.” Akeredolu noted.

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, Operation Amotekun, has announced the commencement of its recruitment.

Amotekun Corps Commandant in the state, Chief Adetunji Olu-Adeleye, who made this known on Tuesday in Akure, said the recruitment form would attract no charges.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Amotekun is a security outfit based in all the six southwest states and aimed at curbing insecurity in the region.

Olu-Adeleye advised interested indigenes between ages 18 and 70 years, with minimum qualification of primary school certificate, to apply for employment.

According to him, the deadline for the form is June 19.

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN has reiterated his confidence on Ondo-Linyi Industrial Hub in solving unemployment in the state and Nigeria.

This was made known via his Twitter handle today on the significant progress recorded at the Ondo-Linyi Industrial Hub in Ore, in Odigbo local government council area.

Akeredolu noted that, with more investors and companies springing up in the state, it will provide more employment opportunities for the teeming youths and aid the overall growth and development of the state.

“The Ondo-Linyi Industrial hub with its many industries has continued to show promise in addressing the unemployment issues plaguing the country. With more industries there will be more jobs, contributing to the overall growth and development of the state.”

It will be recalled recently that, a Chinese automobile company has started the assemblies of trucks, among other production factories in the industrial hub.

NDDC audit report: Ondo Rep BTO fingered in Sharp Practices


Member representing Akoko North East /North West Federal Constituency at the Green chamber, Hon. Bunmi Tunji- Ojo has been fingered in the corruption practices rocking the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Tunji-Ojo is the chairman, House Committee on NDDC.

The executive Director, Projects of the interim Management Committee of the NDDC, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh in a television interview disclosed that Tunji - Ojo once brought a ghost training while claiming the sum of N3. 7billion to be paid to him.

Dr. Ojougboh said the Commission refused to pay the money because it was discovered that the lawmaker never did any emergency training that may have warranted payment.


Tunji-Ojo parades a retinue of Special Assistant across the state and he is currently being touted to be the likely Deputy governorship candidate to Chief Olusola Oke, SAN.


The executive Director, Projects said "The chairman House Committee on NDDC (BTO) came up to us. And I give you an example. This is proof. He brought out a training program. Emergency training program for N6. 4billion and said he has met the first milestone that he needs us to pay him N3. 7billion. And we say look, this milestone you are talking about can not be paid because you have not done it.


"He said the job belong to the speaker. And we said we were not paying. We went to meet the speaker, the Speaker said he is not aware of anything. Then it was not in the budget at all. When they now passed the 2019 budget, the Chairman House commitee now included it as an emergency project and line by line items that we must pay the money. We said we are not paying."

The immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief John Odigie-Oyegun on Thursday passed a vote of confidence on Edo and Ondo Governors, Godwin Obaseki and Rotimi Akeredolu.

The Governors, he said, should be given the party’s ticket for re-election.

According to him, they have “performed creditably should be returned unless they do not do wish”.

Odigie-Oyegun said his call for the support for the two Governors was informed by the agreement reached to settle the leadership crisis at the national level that threatened its existence.

He however cautioned the party’s leadership from imposing candidates, calling for free and fair primaries in both states.

According to him, should other members showed interest, the party should accept other aspirants.

“Our democracy of course has no room for imposition so the party must accept and also present any member that offer themselves to serve in the positions being occupied by the incumbent governors,” he stressed.

The former Edo Governor, in a signed statement, specifically warned that the nature of the governorship primary election in Edo State would determine the shape and survival of APC as a political party.

He maintained: “It is of critical importance that the primary be seen even by a blind man, to be free and fair otherwise there would be political consequences.”

According to the APC Chieftain, the party’s governorship primary “will show Nigerians and indeed the world whether APC is a party of truth, change and progress, driven by the principles of fairness, social justice and equity, or it has become a party that believes and promotes business as usual!”

Odigie-Oyegun then prayed that a consensus be built behind Governor Obaseki but added in the absence of this, “everything must be done to ensure that the persons in the leadership of the party at the center who are part of the contrived crisis in Edo State must not even remotely be allowed to plan, participate or supervise the primary election.

“Allowing any member(s) of the national leadership who have been involved in the contrived crisis in Edo State would equate making such person or persons judges in their own case. This is contrary to the principle of natural justice and will be naturally resisted,” Odigie-Oyegun warned.

The former national chairman of the party also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to prepare for free,fair and crisis-free elections in the two states.

Governor Akeredolu’s broadcast on Coronavirus Pandemics

My dear good people of Ondo state, as you are aware, the world is currently experiencing an outbreak of corona virus (COVID-19) infection. This is a highly infectious disease spreading all over the world.

The disease is easily transmitted from one person to another. Our country Nigeria has not been spared of this attack.

In the last few weeks, the fear of its presence in our country has been confirmed.

The major symptoms of this viral attack are fever, cough, sore throat, sneezing, runny nose and difficulty with breathing. Any individual with these symptoms especially those who have recently travelled to areas where there is a serious outbreak should embark on self-isolation for a minimum of 14 days.

Such individuals should also in the interest of our corporate existence, report in any of our healthcare facilities nearest to them or call any of our emergency lines that will be released for assistance if they develop any of the symptoms.

On our part, this administration had taken the following steps to ensure that the health system is ready to manage the situation effectively in collaboration with the federal government and our development partners. These steps include:
Equipping the state infectious disease hospital as a treatment center for the disease.

Upgrading the state disease surveillance network to be able to identify cases and ensure proper community surveillance
Roll out a sustained media campaign on the COVID-19 infection.

Ensure a seamless collaboration with federal government and other development partners
To further strengthen our capacity to respond effectively to this emergency, we have set up a high level inter-ministerial committee to coordinate state’s response to the COVID-19 challenge.

The committee which is chaired by the hon commissioner for health, has members cutting across relevant institutions and MDAS.
The main term of reference of this committee is to activate, coordinate and drive the state response protocols.

The committee will engage all stakeholders and explore all means possible to curtail the threat of covid-19.

In furtherance of this, we have also directed the closure of all primary and secondary schools as well tertiary institutions in the state as from Friday 20th, March, 2020 until further notice.

This measure is to harvest our children into the safety net for proper monitoring and care.
There is no doubt that this global pandemic poses a real challenge to all nations, yet if we all collaborate effectively, we will overcome it successfully.

One major advantage that our state has is the experience and expertise we have developed over the years from our fight against Lassa fever and other infections.

We believe this will place us in good stead at this critical period. It is therefore important for members of the public to remain calm, avoid panic and spreading of inaccurate information.

We therefore wish to use this opportunity to call on all residents of Ondo state to obey and observe the simple, time tested and internationally accepted precautionary measures to fight this debilitating virus.

We urge us all to fully embrace the hand washing exercise at every interval of our daily activities. We must avoid hand shaking and unnecessary social embrace.

We must reduce or where possible, postpone, until further notice, ceremonies and other social gatherings.

We urge us to avoid staying in overcrowded areas and avoid any unnecessary travels outside the state.

It is important we engage in improved self and family hygiene as well as mobilise our community service providers including traders, drivers, butchers, bank workers, health workers to make use of face mask to cover the mouth and the nose when engaging in their daily activities.

To ensure that all measures stated earlier are totally successful, we hereby task our community leaders, political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, heads of educational institutions, Nigerian medical association, association of general medical practitioners and other health workers, leaders of traders association, women groups, youth groups, transport unions and others to urgently commence a deliberate and comprehensive mobilization of their members to observe these precautionary measures.

Please let us take these measures seriously so as to wage the war against corona virus together and win.

My dear people, contrary to the misinformation and mischief set to create panic among our people, I wish to stress that no death has been recorded in Ondo state on account of corona virus so far. The situation as at today is that a suspected case is under intense observation and comprehensive test.

This process of surveillance and management currently ongoing in this isolated case is part of the standard procedure in dealing with infectious disease outbreaks. We urge us to ignore the unauthorized and unconfirmed statements.

Every epoch in history comes with its own challenges. We believe this corona virus pandemic is another test of our resolve to preserve our existence, we will win by the grace of almighty god.

As I end this speech, let me reassure you again that Ondo state government will do everything and all things in its power, knowledge and capability to protect and preserve our well-being. It is our duty and commitment to ensure that Ondo state people live a healthy and fulfilled life.
