IslamTeach Them by oniguguru(op): 6:41am On Dec 30, 2013
Their ignorance is not only their own making.
That fact has been known a long time ago
It would even continue, or get worse
For their eyes, ears and hearts have been sealed
As the more convenient way of life suits their mundane lust

They only have to pray at least once a week
And 'God' after all isn't in their socio-political life
Some even branded it laicite
It's not mandatory for them to fast

But in the midst of the darkened minds
Glow a ray of hope towards light
For He directs whomsoever He pleases to the light
So teach them
Teach them our huduud isn't as bad as their own
Let them appreciate how human rights are guarded
Show them the wisdom against alcohol, gambling and usury
Tell them what Qisas means,
Imbibe in them the true spirit of the deen
Make them realise how virtuous Muslims should be
And how the deen protects women and children
Teach them the art, for it is more than what meets thier eyes and ears.
Don't be let down on your little reservoir
Iqra' is still and existing command, read more and learn more and above all, teach more.

IslamHaven't We Lost It? by oniguguru(op): 7:45am On Nov 17, 2013
Haven't we lost it?
These lines have been playing in my
head...
They were about to torture my brain,
hand and pen, till I got forced to
write...
To some, a deliberate attempt...
We have subconsciously created a
'rival' for the Quran....
Despite clear warnings, havent we
failed?....
The rivalry had come through
preference and a matter of choice...
And the space they battle to occupy in
our heads....
Music and Quran now fight on our
Mp3 players, DVD, Mobile phones, cars,
radio, even on the streets....
A war of superiority, but clearly, music
is winning...
And it was said, a very long time ago,
that the holy book will be wept
away....
It sounded like fiction, a farce...
But behold, this is happening, and we
are all witnesses to our failure...
I am not spared in this sin...
But my conscience wouldnt allow me
breathe...
Haram or not, Music has eaten us up,
we've given a part of us to it, not the
quran....
As absurd as it would seem...
To imagine an Imam sing and dance to
the latest hits....
Right in front of us, while giving
sermon during a prayer...
Much have been said, my pen is just a
wanderer....
But truth be told, when death comes
and we are to account....
Quran will be there to shield us,
protect us...
And music, well, I have seen no hadith
that even the so called 'islamic songs'
would be of any help....
It is not 'some peoples' duty to read
the quran, understand it and bring it
to your brains to swallow...
It is every muslim's duty to learn it, a
command from Allah (swt)
..... And fear that day, when we'll all
return to Him....
Agreeing with these lines is also a
matter of choice...
My thoughts would allow me rest now, I've
done my part....
Poems For ReviewEmptiness by oniguguru(op): 7:25am On Nov 17, 2013
Emptiness
The pretty things our minds crave for
The beautiful faces our hearts adore
The ugliness and irritation that others bore
And the truth in things we'll rather ignore
Emptiness in all, like a forgotten dream

The fear of losing and the taste of victory
The blood of the innocent and a killer's
misery
The vanity in lust and a thief's supposedly
bravery
And that stolen loot from our public
treasurey
Emptiness in all, no matter how real they
seem

The call for the head of another being
The monsters in us we deliberately cause to
be seen
The things we cause to alter the truth to win
The love we turned sour that was hitherto
green
Emptiness in all, that all boils down to our
cries for a greater self esteem.

EducationRe: UNILORIN Student Gets First-Class In Law by oniguguru(m): 4:10pm On Oct 31, 2013
Tunsbobo: Smh, this just shows how dumb most ilorin law students and graduates are! No 1st class in law since d inception of the school? That's not an achievement
I think the report is a bit misleading. There have been 1st class students from the Common law department. Kazeem only happens to be the first from the combined 'common and islamic' law department.
