SportsDesperate Arsenal Boss Arsene Wenger Ready To Seal £35.5m Transfer Of Benzema by Online4u(op): 7:24pm On May 21, 2015
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger reportedly remains desperate to seal the £35.5million transfer of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

The Gunners boss is desperate to add quality recruits to his squad for next season and the French striker is his top target.

Benzema has bagged 22 goals in 43 games this season and is seen as a guaranteed source of goals.

Wenger knows that he needs to provide competition for Olivier Giroud and his compatriot would be a viable option, according to Fichajes.net.

Madrid are ready to cash in on the French star and Arsenal are first in line to complete a deal.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Cesc Fabregas Gets Sent Off, Blows Chance Of Beating Thierry Henry’s Record by Online4u(op): 2:20am On May 19, 2015
Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas ruined his chances of breaking Thierry Henry’s Premier League assist record by getting himself sent-off versus West Brom.

The Spanish midfielder was on course to overtake legend Henry’s record of 20 assists in one season, but this is now impossible.

Fabregas, who was on 18 assists for the season, will miss the rest of the campaign as a result of his petulant red card for the Blues.

This will make Arsenal fans very happy, after ex-Gunner Fabregas broke their hearts by signing for bitter rivals Chelsea last summer.

SportsRe: Host Selection Process Kicks Off For Rugby World Cup 2023 by Online4u(op): 9:50pm On May 18, 2015
Rugby cannot grow when the country's focus is mainly on football. Even the football now, is a problem to qualify.
SportsHost Selection Process Kicks Off For Rugby World Cup 2023 by Online4u(op): 10:11am On May 18, 2015
The host selection process for Rugby World Cup 2023 has officially launched, with interested Unions having until 15 June 2015 to officially express their interest in hosting rugby’s premier global event.

With the Rugby World Cup brand going from strength to strength ahead of a record-breaking England 2015 and ground-breaking Japan 2019 tournaments, formal interest is anticipated to be high and geographically wide.

As announced in March, the Rugby World Cup 2023 host union will be selected in May 2017 following a phased process. The successful country will have six years to work with tournament owners Rugby World Cup Limited to deliver the event and maximise the benefits of observing the delivery of Japan 2019.

So far Ireland, South Africa, Italy and France have publicly announced their hosting interest and with the process now officially open, World Rugby invites unions to confirm their interest.

World Rugby Chairman Bernard Lapasset said: “Today represents an exciting and significant milestone in planning and preparation for Rugby World Cup 2023 and a date that officially kicks off starts the bidding journey for interested potential hosts unions.

“We are delighted with the strong level of interest from unions and governments at this early stage, which underscores the enormous hosting appeal of Rugby World Cup in the global sporting market place and we welcome further interest in the coming month.”

To assist with the process, World Rugby has invited interested parties to attend a two-day information-sharing briefing in London on 4-5 June, 2015 and the biggest official observer programme to date during England 2015.

Previous Hosts:

1987 – New Zealand and Australia
1991 – England (pool games in Wales, Scotland, Ireland and France)
1995 – South Africa
1999 – Wales (pool games in Scotland, England, Ireland and France)
2003 – Australia
2007 – France
2011 – New Zealand
2015 – England
2019 – Japan
2023 – TBC

Italy and Argentina are the only Tier 1 nations to have never hosted a Rugby World Cup match. Of the current applicants, South Africa, who have won twice out of the five they competed in, last hosted in 1995, so you would think they could be a sensible choice.

Who do you think it should go to? Qatar is not an option.

SportsRussia's President Vladimir Putin Scores 8 Goals In Hockey Game by Online4u(op): 10:31pm On May 17, 2015
President Vladimir Putin of Russia was in action during an exhibition hockey game at the Night Hockey League tournament in the Black Sea resort of Sochi, Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has played in an exhibition hockey game and scored one goal after another on assists from retired NHL players.

Putin's team won 18 to 6, with eight of those goals made by the 62-year-old president, most of them on assists from NHL stars Pavel Bure and Valeri Kamensky.

Three of the remaining goals were scored by Russia's defense minister.

The game was played Saturday in Sochi, the city that hosted the 2014 Winter Olympics, and concluded shortly before Russia played the U.S. in a semifinal of the ice hockey world championships.

During his 15 years as Russia's leader, Putin has frequently displayed his athletic skills, most notably in judo and swimming. He took up hockey only in recent years to promote the sport.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Everton Line Up Loan-transfer Of Manchester United’s Nani by Online4u(op): 10:09pm On May 17, 2015
Everton are reportedly lining up a loan-transfer for Manchester United’s Nani.

The 28-year-old winger is currently on loan at Sporting Lisbon, and has performed well for the Portuguese outfit, scoring 11 goals in 30 appearances this season.

Nani’s form has caught the attention of Roberto Martinez, who is ready to take him on loan next season, according to reports.

Sporting would love to take Nani on loan for another season but cannot afford his £110,000-a-week wages – he would be an ideal signing for Everton who are looking to improve their squad after a difficult season.

Manchester United have made signing Paul Pogba their number one transfer priority, according to reports.

United, who have plans to spend £101million on transfers this summer, are looking for a dynamic central midfielder.

And the Guardian says attention has focused on re-signing Pogba from Juventus, with United making him a priority signing.

Pogba is valued at £70m but recent suggestions say Juve would accept about £58million – having decided to cash in on a major asset.

Barcelona, Chelsea, Arsenal and Real Madrid will all offer competition for the Frenchman.

Queens Park Rangers fans staged a bizarre pitch invasion after their 2-1 win against Newcastle – despite already being relegated from the Premier League.

The Rs were consigned to the Championship after last week’s hammering at the hands of Manchester City, and the mood around Loftus Road was expected to be dreary.

However, goals from Matty Phillips and Leroy Fer gave the west Londoners all three points, and the crowds on the pitch afterwards took to singing; ‘We are going down, we are going down.’

Perhaps they just wanted to celebrate a rare three points? Some Twitter users weren’t quite as understanding, though…

SportsYoung Defender Becomes First Chelsea Player To Leave This Summer by Online4u(op): 11:08pm On May 16, 2015
George Brady wasn’t the biggest signing Chelsea made from Ligue 1 in the summer 2012, but he still arrived with a decent bit of fanfare for a 15-year-old. He even got a blurb from the Daily Mail! He was also 6’4″ already, so in a way, he was actually pretty big.

That’s Michael Emenalo on the right. He’s 6’1″.

Brady, a center back, was a mainstay of the Chelsea U18s a year later and was rewarded with his first professional deal last summer. But this season he had only made 10 appearances while battling a few injuries, and earlier on Saturday, U18 manager Joe Edwards confirmed that Brady has left the club.

There’s no further hint of how or why this decision was made, but good luck to George in his future career!

Bale is the man that would undoubtedly turn Manchester United into title contenders and the hope has to be that he simply gets fed up with his treatment at the Bernabeu.

It will undoubtedly be tough to convince him (and more importantly, Florentino Perez) to give up on his Madrid dream but if Ed Woodward can get it done then he gives Louis van Gaal one of the most potent weapons in European football.

A Bale at the top of his game could even make United into European challengers once again in what would be an era-defining signing.
SportsChelsea To Battle Bayern Munich And Atletico Madrid For Transfer Of Ajax Talent by Online4u(op): 8:36pm On May 16, 2015
Chelsea are keen on exciting Ajax winger Anwar El Ghazi. Anwar El Ghazi (born 3 May 1995) is a Dutch professional footballer of Moroccan descent who currently plays as a winger for Ajax in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid are reportedly set to battle it out for the signature of Ajax talent Anwar El Ghazi.

Dutch newspaper De Telegraf report the trio will send scouts to watch the 20-year-old at Toulon Under-20 tournament later this month.

El Ghazi has enjoyed an excellent season with the Dutch club and has been crowned their young player of the year after scoring nine goals and providing eight assists.

The paper adds Ajax do not want to part with the youngster but there is the prospect of Chelsea buying him and loaning back to the Dutch side for a season or two.

SportsEmanuel Ortega, Argentinian Footballer, Dies At Age 21 by Online4u(op): 8:52am On May 15, 2015
A 21-year-old football player has died in Argentina after colliding with a concrete wall that surrounded the pitch.

According to a report by Argentinian news agency Clarin, Emanuel Ortega was declared dead in the early hours of Thursday morning, after fracturing his skull in a match two weeks ago.

Ortega, who played for San Martin de Burzaco in Argentina's fifth tier, went shoulder-to-shoulder with a player from Juventud Unida but crashed head first into a concrete wall just a meter from the touchline.

Ortega had emergency surgery on a double skull fracture last week, but the news has been confirmed by staff where he was being held.

Video of the harrowing incident exists, but we have chosen not to include it.

On the day of the incident, San Martin manager Cristian Ferlauto said it was "crazy" and "a disgrace" to have a wall so close to the pitch.

"The wall is just a metre from the line. It's crazy, there's no protection," he said. "The security measures are taken thinking about the fans, and the fence is so high so that they can't throw stones, but something are more important.

"It's a disgrace."

Ferlauto also absolved the opponent of blame, saying he had "no intent" to injure Ortega.

And while it's not uncommon to see such strict security measures at Argentinian stadiums, this tragedy will hopefully lead to a thorough discussion and measures that ensure player safety—both from the fans and their environment. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and team-mates.

It was supposed to be a routine end-of-season home win that would send Arsenal back into pole position for second place, and somehow, via a Swansea winner from substitute Bafetimbi Gomis, it ended up full of the same old bitter recriminations that can plague the gunners.

Arsenal fans took to Twitter to blame goal line technology, after conceding a last-gasp goal to Swansea at the Emirates on Monday night.
The match, which was largely panned on Twitter for lack of action, took off in the second-half – a string of impressive saves from ex-Gunner Lukasz Fabianski kept his old side at bay.

Bafetimbi Gomis’ header in the 85th minute looked to have been saved by David Ospina, but the referee’s magic watch disagreed and the goal was given.

Gomis’ goal was a header from a cross from Montero after a break from the substitute Modou Barrow. As Ospina protested, referee Kevin Friend gestured helplessly at the screen on his wrist where the decision was communicated – and everyone knows it is pointless to argue with the technology these days. At times like this all the old fears grip the Emirates stadium which, at the end of a long unbeaten run, saw their team’s vulnerable side again.

The Welsh side were able to hold on to their 1-0 lead, and some Gunners fans unbelievably blamed goal line technology for losing the match.

SportsWhy Tiger Woods Loses 3 Days Of Sleep Since Breakup With Lindsey Vonn by Online4u(op): 12:11pm On May 06, 2015
Tiger Woods struggles at this time of year, which marks the anniversary of his father’s passing. His recent breakup with Lindsey Vonn makes it even tougher on the 14-time major champion.

Tiger Woods conceded Tuesday that he has not slept much heading into Thursday’s start of The Players Championship — mostly since this week is the anniversary of his father’s death and because of his recent split from Lindsey Vonn.

“It obviously does affect me. It is tough, no doubt, I’m not going to lie about that, it is tough,” Woods said during a press conference at TPC Sawgrass about off-course issues having a impact on him inside the ropes. “And on top of that, this time of year is really, really hard on me. This three-day window is really hard.

“I haven’t slept,” said Woods. “These three days, May 3rd through the 5th, today, is brutal on me. And with obviously what happened on Sunday it just adds to it.”

Earl Woods passed away on May 3, 2006 and Woods and Vonn announced their breakup on Sunday. Despite dealing with such emotions, however, Woods said he was able to concentrate on the task at hand.

“Once you’re inside the ropes, it’s time to tee it up and time to play,” he said. “You go out there, and, for me, I focus. I get into my little world, my little zone and do the best I possibly can for, well, it used to be four hours. Now it’s five-hour rounds, a five-hour time period, grind it out and win golf tournaments, because at the end, to me, that’s what I want to do at that particular week is win a tournament.”

Woods will play his first event since his comeback at the Masters alongside Adam Scott and defending Players champ Martin Kaymer on Thursday at 1:49 p.m. ET.
