RomanceRe: I Will Never Love Again! by onmyown(m): 6:01pm On Oct 31, 2007
felt that way a couple of months back.

1. get in touch with your self and get a life. its hard cos your world must have been revolving around her. open opportunities for new friends, learn something new musical instrument, new language etc, group activity, volunteer work etc.

2. get things that get you back in touch with her out of the way. photos, gift items etc. it helps in speedy recovery.

3. wash her smell, scent, voice out of your system for the old needs to pass away for the new to come.

4. focus on things you had sacrificed to be with her and aim to achieve them.

in no time you will be on your way moving on.

HealthRe: My Girlfriend Is HIV Positive But: by onmyown(m): 9:03am On Oct 29, 2007
hi Robert,

The fact that your girlfriend tested positive to HIV does not mean its the end of the world.

1. If you love her you can go ahead and marry her.

2. As she has tested positive she should go on for councelling and other medical tests so she can know her cd4 count and know if she is due for retroviral drugs.

3. Both of you will have to get used to the fact that you will be using condoms except when you decide to concieve. She will be on a batch antibiotics to reduce her viral load so that unprotected intercourse between you two will not put you at dierect risk to infection.

4. It is a life long situation which can work out and I believe it will as you care enough to stand by her.

Above all I wish you both the best.

FamilyRe: Pets As Part Of The Family? by onmyown(m): 8:46am On Oct 03, 2007
hi every one,

we must understand that some pets, especially dogs, are naturally pack/ group animals. they find their position in the the group or family . some breeds will enforce the authourity of their position or protect members of their pack to death. that is why some breeds are not too good with children whom they see as subordinates and wiil attack if challenged by a child whom they feel is lower in position than they are.

i had a very intelligent shepherd who passed on 10 weeks back. i had it from the age of two months for almost three years. it will tear anything that seem a threat to me in any way to shreds and will defend our teritory to death. it just refused to be consoled that i was away for a week on course and refused to do anything where it was boarded while i was away. even my speaking with it on speaker phone made it worse as the handler said i should fly in so it can sight me and maybe come alive and sustain a few more days. it passed on the day before i returned. just lay down and refused to wake up. i wept as the text msg came through. my colleagues read it and to their amusement, it was only chelsea - that frisky bitch.

whether you make them part of the family or not they are.

CultureRe: Northerner Has Spoken by onmyown(m): 2:21pm On Oct 02, 2007
hi every one,

i have, for the past few weeks been reading the interesting contributions from all sides. i also marvel at the level of critique and arguments.

i have been opportuned to live in different parts of nigeria for the past 18 years and my experience has been thus.

1. the niger delta people have a right to the resources that is being generated from their back yard. this is no way to support the spate of kidnappings and killings that have been going on. their reaction is that of a man that has been pushed to the wall. the situation will continue untill their fears of being marginalised, which is true, is sorted out.

2. the north have failed to articulate a way forward for themselves even in the midst of the resources that abound in the region. they seem to, like insunuted by the guy from the UK, that they hold the magic wand and that the rest of nigeria owe them a responcibility to help them develop even when they have always celeberated mediocrity. in one of my stints as a development worker i was shocked at their reluctance to embrace development for their people. when i retired to my living quarters every night i wept as i rolled over at their lack of commitment to any course to take their people forward. they would not show up for meetings neither will they feel any tinge that we as a project came with genuine interest at the cost of the organisation and donors. i resigned and left in bitternes turning my back on a very well paid job because my heart bled for the preventable diseases and situation that could be helped by a simple desire for a change for the better.

3. we as a people do not have to mark time if some wish the status quo be to the detriment of others. i have advocated severally that even those that do not believe and hound people who engage in business from where VAT IS GENERATED ARE ONLY HYPOCRITES TO EARN FROM SUCH. It  is only double speak that is not only annoying but an insult to the rest of the country. every one is free to associate with anyone as two cannot work together except they agree. the unity of nigeria is not championed by the north because they are more than patriots. it is only because of a lack of vission, mission and commitment to stop celeberating mediocrity in any guise.

SportsRe: Exodus Of Fans From Chelsea by onmyown(m): 8:49pm On Sep 26, 2007
jose maurinho is what i call a leader of men, though be it in football terms. he brought so much belief in a group of players that wouldnt have minded if they came in second best not only at chelsea but at porto. made some of them household names today eg carvalio, deco, drogba etc.

it must be said and recognised that a lot of those that rail at him not for his underachievement but because he was not on their side and demystified them all in his short but eventful stay at chelsea. man You, asernal, liverpool and co had to wake up because of the new kid on the block that knew his onions well, was unconventional and did what he had to do to scratch wins when nececessary. that has brought in belief in teams like spurs who i believe have what it takes to ruffle quite a few feathers.

i have seen damian duff huddle through a match as there couldnt be any more subs. john terry will come out of a concussion three times over and still play if allowed. joe cole will play with a broken toe and break an arm to deliver the goods. stradle along fereira playing on a bad pitch stradled in utter tiredness to overcome a champions league defeat. that is what a true leader can bring out of his men. they can die for the course.
now he is moving on. such movement will not go unnoticed. chelsea will build on that and move up. how long that will take i don't know but the dynamics will take us back there.

wow. what a coincidence. i am currently preparing a paper on performance based compensation and to while away the time i came to see whats happening on nairaland. i do not agree that compensation based on performance will not give any better job results. yes there is the nigerian factor of he is from my village bla bla bla but if dont pay for performance then what are you paying for?
