that is N600Billion in 4 years!! |
Lagos— THE Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Deputy Governor (Financial System Stability), Dr Kingsley Moghalu, says the apex bank spends about N150 billion annually to maintain the naira. Moghalu, who disclosed this at a public forum in Lagos, said the amount was used to produce, store, transport, protect and destroy the naira notes every year. He said the cashless policy, being promoted by the CBN, would offer opportunities to trace movement of funds. Moghalu said investors’ fear about constant systemic crisis in the banking sector was responsible for inability of the troubled banks to resolve their crisis immediately. He said the CBN should be allowed to sort out the problems associated with mergers and acquisitions in some these banks, adding that CBN was not interested in liquidating any bank. The CBN deputy governor said that the mergers were still on track, adding the apex bank had made various options available to them. |
spyder880:* From my Attached drawing 1, note that the total space between the door of the said Visitor's Toilet to the right end of the Dinning room is a wooping 4.65m. What this mean is that no matter the volumes of shi.t downloaded at the visitors toilet, with the door closed, an eating person will not smell or even hear. * From the second drawing, I've fixed the dinning table in the most apropriate corner. So it is clear that there is ample space to walk and even run around. But I like your concrete finishing. Esp the bottom of your slab. No obnoxious exposure of reinforcements after the removal of formworks.

spyder880:I think Spyder 880 is not totally right here. 1. There is no room in the house that doesnt have its own toilet/Bath. So the visitor's toilet will be one of the most idle rooms in the house. In say a month, Eating at the dining Table and usage of the Visitors' toilet may coincide say 1 time or none. After careful study of the configuration of the plan, it will be rather clumsy if u want to retain that configuration and u alter the Visitors' Toilet position. 2. The only thing u can do is to make that central Dinning position a kind of big lobby and take part of the Parlour for Dinning Area. But I think this is rather unwarranted. 3. Someone mentioned that there is no cross ventilation or sufficient air-inlet to the Kitchen. I feel, the kitchen as it stands is in order. The window of the Kitchen is wide enough and to make it better, it flows directly to the dinning area via a standard door. So the circulation of air within the house is great. 4. As for the Movement within the house which the dinning seems to obstruct, I sort of agree with spyder 880 on that. In engineering, we design for the worst case scenerio. Imagine (God forbid) there is a fire outbreak and people must run out at the shortest possible time. Then one can fall into some chairs. Or if there is no NEPA and one has to locate his room. To minimize this, ensure the Dinning Chairs are just 4 rather than the complete 6. For the 4 set of chairs, the table will equally be smaller. But come to think of it, the area of the dinning area is 10.32 meters sq while the area of a standard 6 chaired dinning is not up to 1/3 of that. So there is enough space to dance around with. |
You should rather ask why did the government appoint a Liquidator?? Usually, when a liquidator is appointed, it is a dire situation and the Liquidator will do his work within the shortest time possible so he can earn his fees and move on. So the word "Forced" is relevant. Guy, I studied Civil Engineering so I have a good appreciation of cost of putting up structures as well as valuation of any civil engineering work. I also visit that building often and know it like the back of my hand because my stockbroker - Resort Securities occupies the 10th floor. You don't do costing with emotions. Check out my analysis again. Do you honestly think that the average cost of a floor would be more than N100m? N100m is no small money o!
I am a high-rise Specialist. I have designed and supervised some high-rise buildings. It is wrong to devide the total money by the number of floors. The last one I was part of, the registration with Lagos State at just one stage was N100 Million. That one is just 26 floors. Total registration is about N300 Million. Not to talk of Land, court cases (necessary), Piled foundation, Etc Etc Etc |
efisher:Are you sure you aren't getting this policy totally wrong? |

If Kidnappers snatch someone's mum, and demand N5M cash, how will he/she pay (if s/he has)? That will be about 34 days of consistent withdrawal of N150k daily. ![]() |

11 communities sue CBN over daily withdrawal limit On June 13, 2011 · In News By Ikechukwu Nnochiri ABUJA — Eleven communities in the riverine areas of Delta State have asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to declare the directive issued by the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mallam Sanusi Lamido, to all financial institutions in Nigeria, limiting cash withdrawal by individuals and corporate bodies to N150,000.00 and N1,000,000.00 respectively, as null and void. Sanusi Lamido The plaintiffs are specifically praying the High Court for an order of perpetual injunction, restraining the CBN and its governor, from implementing such policy, pending the hearing and determination of their substantive suit. The communities behind the suit are Akpakpa, Ogidigben, Madagho, Ijalla, Kantu, Omadino, Ogheye, Dheghe, Ajudaibo, Obaghoro and Okrigho. The plaintiffs who contended that going ahead with such plan would amount to an infringement on their fundamental rights as enshrined in the 1999 constitution as amended, equally joined the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation as a defendant in the suit. Among other reliefs they are seeking from the court includes, “a declaration that the policy/directive issued by the 1st and 2nd respondents to all financial institutions in Nigeria to charge a punitive fine of N100.00 for every N1,000.00 withdrawn from such financial institution, is excessive, punitive, derogatory and a breach of the fundamental rights of the applicant under the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended 1999 and is null and void. As well as, “an order of perpetual injunction restraining all the respondents whether by themselves, their servants, agents, privies or other representatives, howsoever called, from implementing the policy/directive limiting cash withdrawal by individuals and corporate bodies to N150,000.00 and N1,000,000.00 respectively.” Canvassing their arguments through an affidavit deposed to by a leader of one of the communities, Mr. Ayiri Emami, the plaintiffs maintained that implementing the directive would cause them severe economic hardship. Emami averred that more than 50 per cent of workers under his employ in the community earn their wages on daily basis whilst the rest earn monthly salary, adding that he pays over N1,500,000.00 to workers on daily basis, except on Sundays. He argued that the proceeds from all his businesses, which he deposited with various financial institutions within the state, are his property, insisting that he should statutorily have the exclusive right to determine the volume of withdrawal to make at any point in time. |

David Mark warns on 2015 presidency: Don’t campaign for me On June 12, 2011 · In News BY PETER DURU Senate President David Mark has cautioned his supporters and leaders of the Benue South Senatorial district against campaigning for him in the 2015 presidency. Mark warned that it was morally wrong for anyone to embark on such a campaign for him when he did not commission anyone to do so. Speaking in Otukpo at a special luncheon he organised at the weekend to express his gratitude to the people of Benue South district for electing him back to the Senate, Mark asked Idoma leaders to support him to complete his second term as Senate president, rather than expend energy on presidential campaigns. He said: “Please stop the campaigns; no more further campaigns for what will happen in 2015. The time has not come and we cannot afford the distraction”. Mark urged the Benue South to offer him the complete support he needs to successfully carry out the duties of his office. While appreciating Nigerians for their support for his leadership of the Senate, the Senate president particularly expressed gratitude to President Jonathan and wife, Dame Patience, for backing his re-election from the very day he declared his intention for his fourth term |
