favoredgal: When you wean, night feeding will most likely reduce.
My baby used to wake up 4/5 times to feed, so at 10 months I started giving her cereal when she woke up. It was more stressful for me but it paid off because her waking up reduced to 2/3 times
At 11 months I stopped bfeeding completely and she started sleeping 12 straight hours
Sometimes it's the thought of the 'snack' that wakes them up, when they know there is nothing worth waking up for then they don't
And also bmilk may not be enough to hold them thru the night Thanks alot |

Kimoni: No, I prepare it very hot before I go to bed. That's like 11pm or 12am. I use the big Tommie tipppee bottle and store in a handy food warmer or I wrap it in some very thick clothes, it's sometimes more effective than the warmer. Thanks so much dear, will definitely try it out. |

Kimoni: My DS too wakes up like twice or thrice every night but I have a bottle of formula ready to give him cuz he stopped bf a long time ago. Each feeding process is usually about 5 -10 mins so it's bearable for me as I just tuck the bottle in his mouth. But what I also observe is that sometimes it's not really food he wants, he probably woke up due to some other reasons and needs only petting to get back to sleep. So before i feed him, I try to pet him back to sleep before introducing the bottle.
2)Sure, but avoid the one with lots of sugar and icing. Crackers works well for me. Thanks dear, please one more question, do you prepare the formula when he wakes, or you prepare and keep? |

babythug: Try and ensure you give him a heavy* meal of cereal at night. it will help sustain him till morning.
Initially you may have to offer the baby water or milk during the night when you wean. Some children nurse during the night out of habit and not necessarily hunger.
There are some baby biscuits you can give your son. Though many mums give regular N5 biscuits and cheeseballs too Thanks dear, I think my DS is trying to form waking up severally at night as a habit, because I ensure I feed him well before he sleeps. |

rezzy: Humm, I don't taste baby's food. It's always irritating to me. For the egg and pap, I learnt it from my aunty. I mix the raw egg when cooking the pap and also add formula when feeding him.
He takes fish and meat. He doesn't allow me to feed him (rice, indomie and spaghetti.) he turns the plate upside down and start picking them.
If I dare put any other food in his mouth, he will spoil his face and start shaking like someone that wants to have convulsion. .
I will keep giving him. Thanks ma Have you tried giving him mashed sweet potato mixed with stew? |

if you can get the pap(3 in 1) from a reliable source i.e prepared in a neat environment, you are good to go, just add your baby's formular to it with maybe a little sugar and feed your LO. I don't give my baby cereals, just pap and formular and he is as healthy as can be. |

Megilicious: Abeg I wanna wean my DD soon, ow do dy do dis kindda pap, I Dnt knW ow to make it, cn u pls teach me ow to, n wat 2 do. Tnks Ingredients 1 mudu of guinea corn 1 mudu of millet 1/4 mudu of maize (yellow or white) Method To make raw paste; 1. Wash the guinea corn, maize and millet and soak in a clean bucket for two days, making sure you change the water every 12hours (This allows the grains to ferment). 2. Then take the grains out of water, wash properly and take it to the commercial grinder for grinding. Grind the grains very soft and smooth. 3. Wash your hands properly. Using your fingers and a clean sieve, pass the grounded paste through the sieve to separate the soft and the harder parts of the ground maize, adding clean water to aid the passage. 4. After about 30 minutes, the smooth paste settles at the bottom of the container, and the water is up, gradually pour away the water and keep the smooth paste in a refrigerator for your use. Note: Mudu is the measurement bowl used in the local markets. One mudu is equivalent to about seven milk cups. Storage: if there is no electricity, you can add clean water to the mixture and store in plastic bowl with a lid. Do pour away the water and pour in some clean water to the bowl containing the corn paste every 24 hours. |
