Celebrities / Why I Featured Zlatan In My New Song, Banga – KINGP by Opeyemiadura2: 6:27pm On Oct 20, 2019
After a brief hiatus, Nigerian-American singer and founder of Bugatti Recording Group (BRG), Ilebor Promise, popularly known as KINGP has revealed why he featured Zlatan in his new song.

This time, the US-based songwriter and singer with multiple hit songs have teamed up with reigning afro-pop indigenous rapper, Zlatan on the song entitled Banga, one that many people can’t wait to listen to.

Having teamed up with Gongo Aso crooner, 9ice on the hit track, Agbero three years back, KINGP said he reached out to Zlatan to show his fans that his music career remained alive and banging.

Speaking on the song and his record label BRG, KINGP said the collaboration with Zlatan could not have come at a better time now that the music industry seemed to be in tune with his style and vibe.

BRG has remained a very strong music group and has done well over the years with a number of collaborations and songs. We are still committed to turning out good songs like Banga and more. We are just starting,” he said.

The song was produced by popular music producer, Tefa. This is another hit song that will surely rule the airwaves and get people dancing once again.

Celebrities / Regina Daniels Opens Up On Her ‘initiation’ Into Aniocha Women’s Cult by Opeyemiadura2: 6:14pm On Oct 20, 2019
With 40 years difference in age, Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, has been repeatedly vilified by all and sundry over her marriage to billionaire businessman and lawyer, Prince Ned Nwoko.

And people’s shock over the marriage turned to bewilderment when the then-teenager, now 20 years was initiated into the billionaire’s traditional cult for women, the Aniocha’s women’s cult which is presumed to keep a woman away from ever marrying another man or engaging in any extramarital or face some dire consequences.

Here’s is the excerpt of her response to questions sent to her in Dubai through her media manager, Ifetayo Adeniyi by Potpourri, shedding light on the initiation and other intimate things about her husband and life.

Your (Regina Daniel) initiation into Aniocha women’s cult, what does it entail?

First of all, I will not call it an initiation, it is more like being welcome to womanhood and for you to be part of that group. It’s an elite group, you must be married and be a woman of substance. I will say I’m even privileged to be part of that group.

As a billionaire’s wife do you still play with your age mates?

Well, I have never actually liked hanging out with my age mates. I go for people that are far older than me so I could learn something from them or people who are bellow so I could teach them something and being married to my husband hasn’t stopped me from relating with those people.

What do you love most about your husband (Ned Nwoko)?

His honesty. He’s the most honest person I have ever met. In short, I love his honesty.

What’s the next level for you (Regina Daniel) as an actress?

Business, producing, directing and of course, Hollywood.

What are the things marriage has robbed you of?

I can’t think of anything because when I was single, my life was always about acting, schooling and I didn’t have time for a party but now that I’m married I could go out for parties. I can even say I’m more privileged to have more opportunities now to do things than when I was single.

Can you (Regina Daniels) leave acting at the behest of your husband?

The question is, will he ask me to leave acting? First of all, I never thought about that but the man I married will never ask me to leave what I love.

Celebrities / Why I Went Back To School – Baba Ijesha by Opeyemiadura2: 9:19am On Oct 19, 2019
Popular actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has opened up on why he returned to school to get more education.

According to him, he didn’t take a break from acting but decided to concentrate on his studies. The actor said, “I am back in school, studying Theatre Arts at the University of Lagos.

I didn’t want to be acting and schooling at the same time, because acting requires a lot of attention. However, I didn’t take a break from acting.

I have been careful about the kind of movies I appear in. These days, I read comments online from fans complaining about the quality of our movies.

Being educated is the best investment one can make in life. Though education is not necessarily the key to wealth, it is needed to be respected in our society.

Education didn’t make me successful; my talent did. I went back to school to be able to enlighten myself and step up my game. I am in part four currently and it’s a five-year course.

Speaking further, the actor urged his colleagues in the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Producers Association of Nigeria not to get frustrated, adding that positive changes are coming soon. “Our people shouldn’t get tired. Change is gradually coming.

Iyabo Ojo recently spoke on the issue and I respect her views. Every association has its flaws, and it’s just because we are in the limelight that ours seem so noticeable.

Mr Latin’s leadership will lead to changes in TAMPPAN. I know him and his attitude. Let us forget about the past rifts. You will agree with me that changes are gradually being felt in the industry,” he said.

Sports / Cristiano Ronaldo Makes More Money On Instagram Than Playing For Juventus by Opeyemiadura2: 10:33pm On Oct 18, 2019
Fresh reports and data have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo apparently earns more from Instagram than he does from playing soccer for Juventus.

The 34-year-old pockets an annual $47.8 million from paid Instagram posts, according to a study by social media firm Hopper HQ on Buzz Bingo. In contrast, his salary at Juventus is reportedly $34 million, according to Goal.com.

Ronaldo's reported income from Instagram makes him the platform's highest earner, ahead of Lionel Messi and Kylie Jenner.

Receiving a reported average of $975,000 per advertised post, Ronaldo's Instagram earnings far eclipse the world's biggest celebrities, including Kylie Jenner, Selena Gomez, and Emily Ratajkowski. He also beats footballing rival Lionel Messi, who is said to have earned less than half of Ronaldo's total with $23.3 million.

Cristiano Ronaldo makes more money on Instagram than playing for Juventus - New Report

Amongst the brands Ronaldo has represented on Instagram are Clear Haircare, Nike Football, and Six Pad Europe.

"Ronaldo is the most followed human on Instagram (with 186 million followers) so companies are paying almost $1 million for posts to access his insane reach.

Due to his status as a celebrity and football star, his earnings from Instagram break away from typical influencer partnerships, as many of his promotional posts will be part of wider sponsorship deals, such as Nike.

You only need to go on his Instagram to see how many paid partnerships he does outside of the sports market" Hopper HQ marketing executive Nicola Cronin told Business Insider.

Crime / I Didn’t Conclude The Act Before I Was Caught —rapist by Opeyemiadura2: 4:35pm On Oct 18, 2019
A 30 year-old water vendor caught defiling a nine-year-old girl in Adamawa has pleaded for leniency on the grounds that he had not “concluded” his act before he was apprehended.

The suspect, Mohammed Babangida, who was paraded by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on Friday, told newsmen that he was a first offender, and that he regretted his act.

This is my first time of doing this thing and I didn’t even ‘conclude it’ when my door was knocked, forcing me to stop.

I want to beg for forgiveness as a married man with children. I am based in Bauchi; I don’t want this shameful thing to wreck my family.

“The whole thing started some days ago when the girl begged me for N50 to buy cake, claiming she was hungry, which I gave her.

Another day, she also begged for money and I gave her N20; she again came to my house and I gave her N50 and we entered the room,” Babangida narrated.

Speaking earlier on the arrest of the suspect, the State Commandant of NSCDC in Adamawa, Nuraddeen Abdullahi, said Babangida was apprehended in Damare Ward of Yola town, following a report from residents of the ward.

He said that the victim had been taken to the Yola Sexual Assault Referral Centre for treatment and compilation of needed evidence to prosecute the suspect.

The suspect will be charged to court for prosecution after the intervention and advice of the Director Public Prosecution,” Abdullahi said.

The commandant, who expressed concern over incidents of rape of minors, urged the public to do away with the culture of silence by reporting such incidents for necessary action.

Our Command has a Humanitarian and Gender-Based Violence Unit, whose statutory duty is to handle this type of cases.

We are always ready to handle this type of cases and therefore urge the public to always speak out on rape and other gender-based violence,” Abdullahi pleaded.

Politics / Poland Offers To Support Nigeria In Preserving Artifacts, Monuments by Opeyemiadura2: 9:16am On Oct 18, 2019
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced on Thursday that Poland has offered to support Nigeria in preserving the nation’s cultural artifacts and monuments,

The Minister made the announcement in Abuja when he received the Polish Ambassador to Nigeria, Joan Magdalene Tarnawska.

The highlight of our discussion this morning is Her Excellency’s offer that Poland is willing to assist Nigeria in giving us the technology to preserve some of our artifacts and our monuments and we are looking forward to the formal proposal from Poland because this is one area where I think there can be mutually-beneficial relationship,” he said.

Alhaji Mohammed said many of the nation’s artifacts and monuments need to be restored and preserved, just like many historical pictures.

He expressed delight at the Ambassador’s interest in Nigeria’s culture and tourist sites which, he said, has motivated her to embark on a tour of such sites.

Her Excellency is quite passionate about Nigeria’s culture and she is looking forward to visiting many of our tourist sites. She knows many of them by name but she’s not been there,” the Minister said.

He noted that Nigeria and Poland signed an agreement on Cultural and Educational Cooperation and Exchanges in 1976, and both countries have enjoyed active relations via various exchanges in music, dance, literature as well as exhibition of arts and crafts.

Before then, Poland and Nigeria shared a very long history as can be evidenced in the number of Nigerians who have studied in Poland and, as a matter of fact, the Ambassador just informed me that a Nigerian even became a member of Parliament in Poland. That shows the level of relationship between Nigeria and Poland,” he said.

In her remarks, Ambassador Tarnawska paid tribute to some Nigerian literary icons, having studied African Culture at the University of Warsaw, specializing in Africa literature.

I am honoured to be here in Nigeria, the home of Chinua Achebe, Wole Soyinka and of course Chimamanda and many other great literary figures,” she said.

The Ambassador said Poland has a thriving tourism industry and expressed the hope that both nations will collaborate to deepen the cultural ties between them.

Religion / Nigerian Pilgrim Slumps, Die In Saudi Arabia by Opeyemiadura2: 7:51pm On Aug 11, 2019
The Lagos State Amirul Hajj, Dr AbdulLateef AbdulHakeem, on Sunday confirmed the death of a pilgrim from the state, who slumped and died early on Sunday.

The deceased, identified as Alhaja Folashade Lawal, from Oshodi Local Government Area of Lagos State, died while heading to Jumarat to perform one of the Islamic rites, throwing pebbles at 3. a.m.

We were told she slumped on her way to Jamarat to throw pebbles but unfortunately she gave up from that point.

Doctors told us that she had high blood pressure,” AbdulHakeem told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Mina, Saudi Arabia.

The amirul hajj could not immediately confirm if the 56-year-old woman was receiving medical attention before the incident.

He disclosed, however, that all pilgrims from Lagos State made it to Arafat, saying that even a lady who had brain surgery was brought to Arafat in an ambulance to perform the religious obligation.

You know when death comes, there is nothing you can do. We always told them to be mindful of their medical situations and avoid whatever that will bring stress to them.

Islam is religion of peace and Allah has made things easy for us in the performance of hajj.

That’s why when it comes to throwing of pebbles you can delegate. It is one of the assignments that you can delegate. You cannot delegate Arafat but you can delegate throwing of pebbles.

You cannot blame anybody for going to throw pebbles and dying along the road. Death will come when it will.

As Muslims we believe that Allah knows why He has taken her life. We believe that she has gone at the best time, even though we desired Allah had prolonged her life because her sins had just been washed away.

If you perform Arafat, you are coming out from Arafat like the way your mother gave birth to you.

While she is in a state of Ihiram, Allah took her life. So we commiserate with the members of her family and pray that Allah will grant her Al janat Firdaus.’’

The amirul hajj announced that arrangements were in top gear for the performance of funeral prayer for the deceased at Ka’abah, where the Lagos State contingent would be in attendance and thereafter take her body to the cemetery in Makkah.

AbdulHakeem said that the Lagos contingent would start returning to Nigeria from Aug. 17.

He said that the hajj operation had been successful so far, praising Islamic scholars, who had been enlightening the pilgrims on various religious obligations and how to conduct themselves.

On the return journey, Lagos contingent will be the first to be airlifted back to Nigeria. So we expect the first flight to depart by 7 a.m. on Aug. 17.
