Crime / Unlawful Arrest, False Implication And Illegal Detention Of Lateef Jamiu And Efe by opideda: 2:29pm On Aug 08, 2016
Mr. Femi Owolabi, a Journalist, Rights Advocate this morning took the open letter below to his facebook page saying it ought to be public… Read what he had to say and His Open letter

I a m on my way to the NPF Zonal Hq in Lagos and I thought I should make this letter public. I may not take it easy on them until I get results. Anything could happen, so be informed.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police,
Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Headquarters,
Onikan, Lagos

08/08/2016

UNLAWFUL ARREST, FALSE IMPLICATION AND ILLEGAL DETENTION OF LATEEF JAMIU AND EFEBELI LAWRENCE BY ARMED POLICEMEN FROM ZONE 2 (SARS OBADA)

This is to bring to the attention of your office the above subject matter for immediate investigation and further necessary action, should the claims be confirmed to be within the limit of law and fundamental human rights.

At about 1300hr on Friday 5th August, 2016, four armed policemen stormed [a gated] Anuoluwapo Street in Odi-Olowo LCDA of Lagos State. According to eyewitnesses, the armed policemen who were in black t-shirts with “POLICE” imprint arrived in a “jeep” and “sienna space bus.” It was gathered that the policemen were led in by a masked man, a possible informant, who was seen pointing to a particular house where it’s believed that some suspected criminals do stay.

The policemen broke into one of the rooms and picked 30 years old Mr Efebeli Lawrence, who at the time was sleeping. According to Efebeli’s elder brother, Francis– who was inside the room– the policemen grabbed his brother when the masked man pointed at him saying, “that’s him.” Mr Efebeli, who is into catering services, suffered the humiliation as he wasn’t even allowed to put on his clothes before he was handcuffed and dragged out. “I have to beg them (policemen) to allow him put on his boxers at least,” Francis explained.

Upon entering the Street, 30 years old Mr Lateef Jamiu (popularly known in the neighbourhood as Oba Aanu) who owns a video-rental service shop by the gate had been picked. Mr Jamiu, like many other small-scale business owners in the Street, do sleep over the night inside their shops, and on this night, he had come outside of his shop to sleep at his neighbour’s, a spacious salon.

“Lateef always sleep here with me because there’s not enough space in his own shop,” Mr Jimoh (popularly known as Pa Jimmy), the salon owner, said. “It was getting cold and he got up, went outside to his own shop to get a cover-cloth and that was how the policemen picked him,” Pa Jimmy added.

Pa Jimmy further explained that the policemen came with Mr. Jamiu inside the salon where they met him and his friend, Mr Tajudeen, sleeping. “They woke us, searched everywhere inside the shop, and seeing nothing implicating, they took Lateef away,” he said.

It was gathered, however, that the policemen claimed to have found a gun in an abandoned apartment close to Mr Efebeli’s. Place.

Mr Jamiu and Mr Efebeli were handcuffed together and driven off. “Meet us in Zone 2,” was the only message they left for Mr Tajudeen who made an attempt to plead with the policemen.

Since the incident happened, more than 70 hours now, families of the two subjects have been moving from one police station to the other after they were told at Zone 2 that no such operation was carried out by them.

After a rigorous but fruitless search of their sons, on Sunday, 7th August, 2016, the families reported at the Police Control Room in Lagos where the O/C radioed all the divisional police stations in Lagos to check for detainees bearing those names and none of the stations has given a positive feedback.

Further investigations, however, have revealed that Messrs Jamiu and Efebeli are being held at a Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, police division in Obada area in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
“The Obada SARS was created few weeks ago, and they are probably hunting for ‘customers,'” a source disclosed.

In the light of the above, and since the Obada SARS, Ogun State operates under this zonal command, we, therefore, demand the following:
1. Immediate inquiry into why the subjects have been detained for days without allowing them get in touch with their family members/lawyers so they could know the state of things and especially where they are being held.

2. Immediate call on the O/C SARS, Obada, to transfer the subjects back to Lagos for a full scale investigation of their alleged crimes.

3. Immediate re-orientation of men and officers of SARS, Obada in line with global best practices of policing.

Find attached, photographs of the subjects.

Phones / The Android Phone With The Best Battery Life [july 2016] by opideda: 11:55am On Jul 06, 2016
Nothing is worse than finding out that your phone needs a charge at lunch time because it’s almost out of juice. That’s why battery life is an increasingly important attribute for any Android phone, and one that you are likely to take into consideration when making your purchase.
Usually, a phone lasts a full work day with moderate use. But if you use it heavily, you'll need to recharge it more often. Batteries also lose steam over time, running down faster the longer you've owned it. The specter of losing battery -- and therefore losing your communication hub -- is frightening and real.

Even though phones these days can be charged to full in just over an hour, it’s still important to find one that doesn’t need an emergency top up in the middle of the day. Our list of the Android phones with the best battery life surfaces devices which are sure to last as long as your day does, and — in some cases — longer.

It’s only right that a phone with one of the biggest internal batteries we’ve ever seen tops this list. But even phones with smaller batteries have a lot of tricks up their sleeves to make sure you can go all day. Be sure to take a look at all the contenders with the link ahead.
Note: These phones have been ranked by battery capacity, but that is not the only factor we considered for being included in the list.

1. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
Samsung is the first company to bring its 2016 flagship smartphone. The phone maker has updated the specification sheet, and refined the whole glass and metal design that was introduced with the Galaxy S6 range in 2016.
The phone is now waterproof, and allows microSD cards of up to 200GB. Samsung has used an all new Exynos 8890 SoC on the new Galaxy S7 Edge, and there is 4GB of RAM along with 32GB of internal storage. It features an AMOLED display with 2560x1440-pixel resolution, but the screen size has been increased from 5.1 inches to 5.5 inches.
This has allowed Samsung to increase the battery size from 2600mAh to 3600mAh, which allows it to offer better battery life. The biggest change in the phone, though, is the new 12MP Dual Pixel camera, which shoots amazing photographs even in low light.
Battery: 3600 mAh
Key Features:
• Fast performance
• Great camera
• Top-notch build quality

2. Nexus 6P

The Nexus 6P is Huawei’s first attempt at a Nexus device, and they knocked it out of the park. This is the first time a Nexus can truly claim the title of best Android phone. It has an excellent camera, beautiful, big display, and a charming design. If you don’t mind big phones, this is the one to get.
Battery: 3450 mAh
Key Features:
• Great camera
• Insanely fast performance
• Beautiful display

OnucheAdams:

It may be a bit exaggerated, but I can say for a fact that the quality of minds marshaling The Kogi of today leaves a lot to be desired. And the talk of corruption isn't far fetched as it's crystal clear that Government appointees have turned the state into a car shop and a huge construction site...

it is actually underreported. Never in the history of Nigeria has any Governor played the kind of prank yahaya Bello is playing on Kogi. He is the first Governor to open unauthorised accounts for civil servants and the first Governor to issue cashless alerts. the selected civil servants received alerts on their phones only to meet empty account. A governor that withdrew 260 million on a daily basis as security vote in the first few weeks. he turned around and sacked the permsec of government house when premium times news broke. what is sad is that this same Governor has the support of the abuja anti corruption forces. Arbitrary arrests and forced confessions are the order of the day now. He is now using the dss to harass innocent citizens. People are being locked up in underground cells with terrorists and boko haram in lokoja until they confess to what he wants. it is avery sad situation in Kogi. it is even very sad that all this is being done with the tacit support of the first lady- a woman who should be mother to all.

Phones / Download Contacts From Iphone To Mac by opideda: 6:08am On Jun 22, 2016
The improvements in technology are making people a bit lazy. There was a time when you had to rack your brains or search your phone book for recovering the phone numbers of your contacts. Nowadays, the mobile phones have made it very easy. You can store a large number of phone contacts in these mobile phones. Today, practically every second person residing in the US owns an iPhone. A majority of them might have a Mac at home too. There are chances of losing the data on the phone due to a variety of reasons. It is better if you transfer the contacts to your Mac and store it these for safety.

We shall discuss three different ways of downloading contacts from the iPhone to the Mac.

Via iCloud:
Everyone might be having an account in the iCloud. In case you do not have one, acquiring one is very easy. Once the initial process is over, you have to switch on the Wi-Fi and connect your iPhone to the internet. Go to Settings and select iCloud. Use your Apple ID to sign in and ensure that the Contacts is on. In case it is not, you have to swipe to the right.

There are two options. One is to save the iPhone contacts to Mac as a V-card file. You can do this by selecting the Export V-card option. You have another option to save the contacts to Mac Address book. Go to system preferences and log in to iCloud. Select Contacts (Address book) and you will find all your contacts in your Address book.

Direct saving:
Many people have a complaint that saving contacts through iCloud is a tedious process. There is an easier method to do so. That is directly saving the contacts from the iPhone to the Mac.

You have to download and install iPhone Recovery on your Mac. This tool will enable you to save your contacts directly. You have to connect your iPhone to the Mac via the USB cable. Click the ‘Recover from iOS Device’ button.

Now you have to scan the phone. The program will scan all the files on your iPhone.

You would be able to preview as well as export your contacts to the Mac. On previewing, you can check the contacts one by one and then click ‘Recover’ to export the contacts to Mac.

Once the contacts enter your Mac, you can sort them out into groups and save it in the Address book.
