The recommendations for cancer survivors are no different from the recommendations for anyone who wants to improve his or her health: Exercise, eat a balanced diet, maintain a healthy weight, avoid tobacco and limit the amount of alcohol you drink.
But for cancer survivors, these strategies have added benefits. These simple steps can improve your quality of life, smoothing your transition into survivor-ship. Here's what you can do to take care of yourself after cancer treatment.

Exercise
Regular exercise increases your sense of well-being after cancer treatment and can speed your recovery.
Cancer survivors who exercise may experience:

Increased strength and endurance
Fewer signs and symptoms of depression
Less anxiety
Reduced fatigue
Improved mood
Higher self-esteem
Less pain
Improved sleep

Adding physical activity to your daily routine doesn't take a lot of extra work. Focus on small steps to make your life more active. Take the stairs more often or park farther from your destination and walk the rest of the way. Check with your doctor before you begin any exercise program.
With your doctor's approval, start slowly and work your way up. The American Cancer Society recommends adult cancer survivors exercise for at least 30 minutes five or more days a week. As you recover and adjust, you might find that more exercise makes you feel even better.
Sometimes you won't feel like exercising, and that's OK. Don't feel guilty if lingering treatment side effects, such as fatigue, keep you sidelined. When you feel up to it, take a walk around the block. Do what you can, and remember that rest also is important to your recovery.
Exercise has many benefits and some early studies suggested that it may also reduce the risk of a cancer recurrence and reduce the risk of dying of cancer. Many cancer survivors are concerned about cancer recurrence and want to do all they can to avoid it.
While the evidence that exercise can reduce the risk of dying of cancer is preliminary, the evidence for the benefits of exercise to your heart, lungs and other body systems is substantial. For this reason, cancer survivors are encouraged to exercise.

Eat a balanced diet
Vary your diet to include lots of fruits and vegetables, as well as whole grains. When it comes to selecting your entrees, the American Cancer Society recommends that cancer survivors:

Eat at least 2.5 cups of fruits and vegetables every day
Choose healthy fats, including omega-3 fatty acids, rather than saturated fats or trans fats
Select proteins that are low in saturated fat, such as fish, lean meats, eggs, nuts, seeds and legumes
Opt for healthy sources of carbohydrates, such as whole grains, legumes, and fruits and vegetables

This combination of foods will ensure that you're eating plenty of the vitamins and nutrients you need to help make your body strong.
It's not known if a certain diet or certain nutrients can keep cancer from recurring. Studies examining low-fat diets or diets that contain specific fruits and vegetables have had mixed results. In general, it's a good idea to eat a varied diet that emphasizes fruits and vegetables.
While it may be tempting to supplement your diet with a host of vitamin and mineral supplements, resist that urge. Some cancer survivors think that if a small amount of vitamins is good, a large amount must be even better. But that isn't the case. In fact, large amounts of certain nutrients can hurt you.
If you're concerned about getting all the vitamins you need, ask your doctor if taking a daily multivitamin is right for you.

Maintain a healthy weight
You may have gained or lost weight during treatment. Try to get your weight to a healthy level. Talk to your doctor about what a healthy weight is for you and the best way to go about achieving that goal weight.
For cancer survivors who need to gain weight, this will likely involve coming up with ways to make food more appealing and easier to eat. Talk to a dietitian who can help you devise ways to gain weight safely.
You and your doctor can work together to control nausea, pain or other side effects of cancer treatment that may be preventing you from getting the nutrition you need.
For cancer survivors who need to lose weight, take steps to lose weight slowly — no more than 2 pounds (about 1 kilogram) a week. Control the number of calories you eat and balance this with exercise. If you need to lose a lot of weight, it can seem daunting. Take it slowly and stick to it.

Students of Abraham Adesanya polytechnic Ijebu igbo, Ogun State, have cried out foul of a fellow student identified as Lesi Folashade who was battered by soldiers (OPMESA) allegedly hired by the Rector of the institution, Prof. Jumoke Bilesanmi-Awoderu.

According to an eye witness account, this happened yesterday on the insistence of Folashade to write her first semester exams having paid her complete school fees of sixty one thousand five hundred naira.

Some students of the institution who spoke on anonymous bases disclosed that it all started when a part of the CISCO office in the institution got burnt in last month which resulted to the suspension of the examination and closure of the school for the month of March for students to resume the suspended exam on the 11th of April.

On resumption, students were mandated to pay damages of 10,000 naira which was later reviewed to 5000 naira on the intervention of the SUG. The management however insisted that students will not be allowed to write the exam without payment of 5,000 naira damages.

The rush by students to meet up with the Friday 15h April deadline set by the school and the limited admin staff available for the exercise made a number of students unable to pay up. According to some affected students, they were also on campus last Saturday but were disallowed, hoping that they will be able to make payment on Monday morning.

Folashade, married, who fell into this category of students was in school with her ATM card on the examination day, Monday, but was denied entry alongside hundreds of other final year students.

The refusal of the affected students to leave the school entrance gate warranted the security men to rough-handle Folashade and other students who could not make the payment in due time.

Despite several injuries inflicted on her with metal wipes, the soldiers refused to release her. They also denied her medical attention and threatened to charge her to court instead.

There are speculations from eye witness that the convulsive bleeding coming from her undies may be an indication of a miscarriage.

Insiders however disclosed that having informed the Rector of the situation, she was indifferent about it.

Folashade was later deceived into entering a vehicle with the pretense of taking her for treatment, was led by the Director of Student Affairs, Miss Jokotagba to Topan Polic Station and was detained for almost eight hours with bleedings from her injuries unattended to.

As at the time of compiling this report Folashade was bleeding and pleading with men of OPIMESA to release her in order to attend to her health.

Students, concerned individuals and sympathizers have called on the government and relevant human right advocacy groups to intervene and ensure that justice prevails.

About five hundred migrants from Libya to Italy drowned when their boat capsized in the Mediterranean, according to 41 survivors who talked with BBC - although there is no official confirmation by the coastguards in the region. The survivors were transferred to another vessel when it sank in the middle of the night.
The survivors, from Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan and Egypt, spoke to the BBC from the southern Greek city of Kalamata, where they are being held after their rescue.
According to the group, about 240 migrants left the Libyan port city of Tobruk heading for Italy.
Muaz from Ethiopia insisted that about 500 other migrants died when their boast capsized. He said:

"My wife and my baby drowned in front of me,". "I was one of the few who managed to swim back to the smaller boat,"

Abdul Kadir, a Somali said:

"Two-hundred-and-forty of us set off from Libya but then the traffickers made us get on to a bigger wooden boat around 30m in length that already had at least 300 people in it,"

The survivors were then picked up by a cargo ship, whose crew told the BBC that the migrants initially refused to be handed over to the Greek coastguard as they were determined to get to Italy.

The president of Somalia offered his condolence over the incident. The Somali embassy in Cairo put the death toll at almost 400.
But the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) has cast doubt, tweeting that the information that hundreds of migrants had died appeared "inaccurate".
The fact that the boat capsized at night in open sea may well have contributed to the lack of clear information available, correspondents say.

If this menace is fixed in this Nation we all we see a great transformation in the lives of our youth & entrepreneurs.


We have been able to cope with the pressure to meet up with the demands of clients because we are diligent ‎at our work, once we get an order we swing into action thereby avoiding any form of pressure from the client.


I have not really been exposed to loan facilities because most of the seminars I have attended about loan facility talks, the seminars are mostly agricultural loan facility. It appears to me that more loans are available for the entrepreneurs in agriculture line of business than the kind of business that we offer.


What I would really want the government or financial institutions to do is that they should make soft loans available for young entrepreneurs. I usually say something, for some of our young entrepreneurs to kick-off their business all they require is just Fifty Thousand Naira (N50, 000) and you find out that such person can hardly get such amount from the banks easily without having to provide several documents, except if the person gets the money from friends & family. Again if the person doesn’t have a buoyant family, what will be the fate of such young entrepreneur? So banks should set-up ‎small or micro finance system that will take such soft loan seriously. Banks should offer financial management trainings for entrepreneurs who are willing to take their business to the next level.


Where I see our business in the next 10 years is that ‎I see our business to have metamorphosed into other face of businesses, our client base would have increased and also become a big name in the industry.
As for continuity plan, I don’t have one yet, but our prayer is that we will grow so big and will come into the picture we have in mind for the future. Thanks

Omoshalewa Adenike Babalola a student who just graduated from the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH), has made history as the first student to graduate with the maximum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0.
Omoshalewa, a Science Laboratory graduate, emerged valedictorian and was showered with gifts at the ceremony with a number of dignitaries in attendance including Deputy Governor of Lagos state Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule representing Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, Ayangburen of Ikorodu Oba Kabiru Shotobi, Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and former Group Managing Director of Chams Plc Ademola Aladekomo, among others.

The governor urged the graduands to be innovative and practise the entrepreneurial skills acquired from the school. He said: “There is no gainsaying the fact that we are in a challenging time, especially the current unemployment rate. It is time to bring out your innovative and entrepreneurial skills. You must look and explore other options to engage yourselves.”

The Rector, Dr. Samuel Sogunro who led the procession of graduands and the principal officers at the ceremony, said Omoshalewa is the first student to graduate with the maximum CGPA and the school would offer her a job after her National Youth Service.
Omoshalewa, who attributed her success to group reading and hard work, spoke on behalf of other graduates and hailed the polytechnic staff for their guidance. She described her feat as unbelievable, saying: “I never had it so easy.”

The ceremony held at 10am in the schools auditorium with a graduating set of 8,519 students. 263 of the graduating students were awarded a distinction.

41 year old Bryan Thouvenel, of Oregon, was devastated when his ex gf and baby mama took their then 2 year old daughter Harmony Rain Thouvenel, and disappeared for 2 years without contacting him. Thouvenel who has 2 other children, a 17 year old and a 14 year old, said he had spent years and time trying to track them down to no avail.
Luckily, last June, one of his friends called him to say that he thought he saw a little girl who looked like his daughter at a Salvation Army homeless shelter.
He got in his car with his mother beside him and drove to the shelter in Spokane Wsshington.
The father had in March of 2015 been granted custody of Harmony, so when he got to Washington, he drove straight to a Spokane courthouse where a judge ordered his ex-girlfriend to bring their daughter to court
His ex gf didn't show up, the judge promptly granted custody to him in her absence and his daughter was brought to him while he waited outside the courtoom.

He said:

'I sat there and the next thing you know I've got my daughter coming out, walking by herself,'. 'She's kind of looking around, and I said her name once. She kind of looked at me funny and I said 'Harmony, it's daddy.' Her eyes just kind of lit up.'

'It made it all worth it, you know?' he said. 'It was two years I fought through hell just to be a part of my daughter's life and she was back in my life.'

Since sharing his story, Thouvenel said that his ex-partner had now come forward to criticize him after the custody battle.
But he insisted he was focusing on what was important; his daughter.

'Nobody in this story is perfect, including the mother,' he wrote on Facebook. 'Said mother had her opportunity to make these claims in court, but ignored all proceedings.

'I will continue to to take the high road on this and focus on the rebuilding with my daughter.'

Thouvenel described how, while he was separated from Harmony, he would look up at the night sky and sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
'It became my medicine for a broken heart and aching for a child missing from my life,' he said in a post on Facebook.

'Every single night I would do this as it was the only thing that made me feel close to my Princess Harmony. I had hoped that maybe she was staring at the same stars.

'I remember Princess Harmonys first night back home after nearly two years. Before bed Harmony grabbed me by the hand and took me to the front porch.

'She propped her self up on the rails of the balcony. She looked up at all the bright shining stars in the sky. Suddenly to my hearts tears she began to sing Twinkle Twinkle little star.


'This has been what we do before I tuck her in for bed every night since she has been back home. I can't help but to smile each and every time we do this and think to my self....... "Princess, if you only knew."

A New Jersey woman named Lakishette Williams accidentally set fire to her apartment after she found out her boyfriend was gay and was cheating on her with other men. She told police she accidentally set her apartment ablaze while burning love letters from the man.

This happened in December and she was immediately arrested for arson after police found out she started fires in two rooms, but she claims it was a mistake. The 25-year-old mother-of-two said she was “distraught” after she found out her boyfriend's 'friends' were actually his sexual partners and she'd left them in her home on several occasions.

She appeared in court last week for a bail reconsideration hearing where a judge reduced her bail from $50,000 to $35,000

“She was devastated. She didn’t intentionally set the fires; she was just burning love letters from her boyfriend." said her attorney Caroline Davis.

A teenage girl was crushed by a train as she posed for a selfie just inches from a railway track. Horror photos show the unnamed 19-year-old just seconds before the train hit her after ignoring warnings from other tourists to move back. This happened in the city of Foshan, South China’s Guangdong Province last Saturday.

The girl was reportedly attracted to a particular stretch of rail by a sea of roses growing nearby, which also attracted hundreds of others but she went too far by straying too close to the railway tracks until she was finally struck by a freight train and paramedics on arrival pronounced her dead.

Officials have banned people from taking photographs in that railway area.

While selfies may never be listed as an official cause of death, there have been an increasing number of selfie-related deaths in China in recent years, including those of victims who tried to take selfies while on top dangerous cliffs and waterfalls.

The 25 year old boxer suffered bleeding on his skull following his fight with Chris Eubank Jnr for the British middleweight title which left him brain damaged. He spoke his first words on Sunday having been in a coma for almost a week. The swelling on his eye seems to have varnished.
