Hello
Please where did you get the pension insurance history and the social insurance. Can the health insurance card be used? Also what does the marriage certificate with translation mean?

I missed your question on marriage certificate translation. You need a translation if the marriage certificate is not in English.

Thank you. This helps. For now though, my contract stated it was meant for one person, even though the size is beyond 30sqm, I am not sure if this would be a problem; I'm in talks with the Landlord though, if the clause could be changed.

When you rented the house, was your landlord aware your wife will join you?

Relax!!

You are getting yourself worked up. Submit the house contract as they stated, you don't need to do any other thing. There is no how your wife's name would be on your contract. Inform your landlord your wife has joined you when she does.

Hello, Thank you for this information, it helps.

Was it the ABH that said you should not send the whole rental contract? Is it just the size part they need? Please can you confirm one person is still 15sqr meter, that means 30sqr meter should be sufficient for a couple?

The message I posted is as requested by ABH. The part of the contract that specifies the room size and amount you pay monthly is what is very important, its usually in the first two or three pages of the rental contract.

Unfortunately I cannot confirm what I have no proof to backup, but I believe its still 15sqm per person.

Hello,

why did it take you close to 1month before you submitted your documents to the ABH? What documents were requested for?

Also how did you get your travel insurance for your wife?

Did you translate some of your documents?

I was not in Germany when the letter asking for the documents came. One of the documents is pension insurance information which took about a week.

You get travel insurance in minutes from AXA mansard website in Nigeria.

I did not translate any document.

Here are the documents requested in my case.

Passport in copy
- Copy of the rental contract indicating the size of the apartment in sqm (please do not send the entire
(please do not send the entire rental contract) and a copy of the monthly costs of the rent or the
(e.g. bank statement) - in case of subletting also copy of the main lease
copy of the main rental agreement
- Copy of marriage certificate with translation, if applicable
- Employment contract and employment certificate (not older than 14 days)
- A copy of the net income for the last 6 months and
Proof of health insurance with indication of the type and duration of insurance under
Indication of the employer
- Current pension insurance history (not pension information) and certificate of registration for social insurance

I hope it helps.

Ask further questions here(not inbox) if any and I will respond, it may help someone else that way we are helping the community.

Cheers!

It is quite understandable if the spouse is still a student and marriage did not occur before visa. The rule is the rule.

Question is do they apply the rule to students who have now converted to a work permit? That will be funny o.

Shouldn't the permit/status be changed from being student to a 'worker' f you have a full-time job?

Does not apply if you have graduated and have a full time job, work permit or EU Blue card. I studied also, so I know from my experience and that of others.

Emphasis is on having a job that can feed you and your spouse, the 20hrs allowed weekly student work time cannot do this.

That's cool. How about if a student gets a job while schooling, can he not file for the spouse reunion? Please, did your wife also learn how to speak German before she was issued a visa? Heard its a requirement too. And, how long does the whole process take, from filing to when visa is issued

As long as it's a full time (not working student) job you can apply for reunion visa. If you have the EU Blue Card, then she does not need to show proof of language (A1), for other kinds of resident status of the spouse, it is required.

Pls for someone who doesn’t have EU Blue card ( a student) request for a reunion visa for a spouse too?

As far as I know, it has not worked for anyone. You will get appointment, but they will not issue the visa. They will wait until you have a job

Heyo!

Giving back. Here is our timeline.

I have the EU Blue Card and reside in Berlin.

Booked for re-union visa appointment 23/03/2022

Wife got an email from the embassy on 24/04/2023 for appointment on 16/05/2023 (verification fee was not asked, although she was with it, she did not bother to ask since we were even praying for that long process to be skipped….lol)

Received a letter from ABH on 15/06/2023, dated 9/06/2023 asking to submit documents (verification was indeed skipped)

I submitted the documents on 03/07/2023. I got a response from ABH on 10/07/2023 that my wife's visa has been approved and it is now on Lagos to issue the visa.

12/07/2023, she got an email to submit her passport, travel health insurance and travel date. We submitted all same day and she got her passport with visa stamped on 19/07/2023.

I hope it helps and gives someone hope.

No no ,you don't need to worry about that. The embassy will ask ABH. ABH will ask your spouse for some documents and when the required documents meet the requirements, there will send the pre-approval to the embassy.

Calling this a pre-approval is misleading. It is approval. A pre-approval for EU Blue Card for instance is gotten before application (booking for appointment) is started at the embassy in Nigeria

Please, what is the maximum duration someone can stay after a submitted travel date?
e.g. Assuming I submitted 13th July 2023 as a travel date and got my passport and due to some circumstances I am unable to travel within that period, how long after this date am I still eligible to still travel with that VISA?

As long as your visa is valid. Keep in mind the bureaucracy of extending it when you arrive Germany, it could take some time depending on the city. That's the reason you are given upto 3 months. So waiting a few weeks and upto one month, is not an issue.

Hello everyone..
I need advise on my issue , Incase anyone has heard about this case..

I am did my Msc in Poland, and asking the line
I did my reunion interview in oct 2021.visa was refused in 2022 as regards my husband been still having a student visa.
He later finished and got a job and got a blue card.
After that he sent the blue card to the Nigeria embassy and the reunion visa was approved..

Presently am in Poland. Do I need to send my passport to the embassy , and they stamp it and send it back to me here in Poland ?

Or I need to go to Nigeria myself and get my passport stamped and come back..

Has anyone seen such case before.. I appreciate to get feedback.. thank you all

I know of someone who had a similar case.

If you have a reliable person in Nigeria, send your passport via DHL back to Nigeria, the person sends it to the embassy and once it is stamped, they send it back to you via DHL.

Good morning Ogas

I have a quick question, this 250k for verification of certificates is it everybody that needs to pay it I am going for visa interview this week and someone said I might need it please advice

Recently some people for the family reunion visa did not pay, verification was not even done. Some didn't pay on the day of the appointment but were asked to pay later. It is not clear yet the yard stick which they use to determine who pays or not. I do not think it is Blue Card, someone I know whose spouse, the verification was not done for this year does not even have a Blue Card, however earns up to the Blue Card threshold though. Please let us know how your goes.

Hi everyone,

We are little bit confused on how to handle this situation, my wife's work visa was rejected last year, now she's coming through family reunion and she got an appointment date already. she wrote her O'level exam twice in different schools and when she went for her interview last year, she only presented the certificate from the second school where she only wrote the second exam and passed her papers leaving out the main secondary school she attended. This time around, is it advisable to go with the just the second one she presented at the embassy the last time bearing in mind they could ask for verification and contact the second school where she only wrote exam without attending or present both.

PS: The reason for her visa rejection was not related to her secondary school.

I would say, do not make it complicated, maintain the one from the second school.

If you applied in June last year, you will be contacted in July this year for an appointment date in August, that is the pattern, so just relax.

Good day all,

Please, I want to know;

The family reunion visa will not be approved if one is on a job seeker permit (post-study) right?

We booked on 29.06.2022 and will probably receive an interview email next month. I am thinking of canceling the appointment if the visa application will eventually be rejected.

I don't have a skilled job yet.

Yes it will not be approved.

If you cancel, you will need to queue again for more than one year to get an appointment. Do you really wanna do that?

Do you have hopes of securing a job soon? If yes.

My thoughts;

Wait for the appointment to drop, postpone it for like three months a head for instance (it is possible by an email), for reasons of unavailability or any other reasons legit to you that also makes sense.

If by the time the new date approaches and you still don't have a job, then you may cancel. You can cancel just few days before the appointment.

Goof afternoon my good people. Please I have a question which and I really need directions.

My wife had her interview on the 24th of April, she didn't submit her A1 exam because she was told she could submit later. Today, she got a call from a delivery man (dhl) that she has a message from the embassy. We are now concerned as to why are we receiving documents so quickly? Although we are yet to know the content of the message, she is also not present in the state where she can rush to get the documents. We are just anxious, please can we get clues as what may likely happen? Does anyone has similar experience?

Thanks in anticipation

Hey,

What was this about finally, if you don't mind?

How do I submit travel date? By booking a flight?

Please help.

You do not need to book a flight. Write it in a piece of paper and submit together with the health insurance print out, or in the body of the email if you want to send the health insurance as an attachment via email.

They use it to know what start date to print on the visa.

This is not a good sign, seems like a rejection. You can appeal though if it is a rejection. Was it a family reunion visa?

What is your own resident status?

I tried visiting my husband in 2021 and was denied because they weren't sure that I'd come back to 9ja. when I went for Family reunion interview last year the interviewer told me that he could see in the system that I tried to visit using Schegen visa and was denied,he said that even if I applied a thousand times I wouldnt be given visa cos it will be believed that I won't return since I am entitled for family reunion instead of just visiting.

I still haven't heard from the Embassy or the lawyer and still no response to emails. My husband contacted an immigration lawyer,I really hope It helps.

Hello have you been contacted yet? I haven't though. Sending you cyber hugs.

Please what is your spouse resident permit type?

What city is your spouse?

These will help better, because the processing time of city A is usually not same as city B and the embassy works directly with those cities before the initiate any process.

Please House how does one go about change of name on international passport? I applied for my FRV using my maiden name and I also submitted newspaper publication change of name for my new surname. Please will this pose a problem when I am asked to submit my passport for the visa stamp? When is the right time to start processing the change of name on my passport with immigrations? Do I hold on until the embassy requests for it or start process of change of name on my passport with immigrations now? Please I await responses. Thank you.

Go a head and process your change of name on passport. If it comes out before you are asked to submit your passport at the embassy, submit both, but let them know one is old and the visa should be on the new one. Its really a very easy matter, nothing to worry about.

I did my interview in January 2023. I paid the verification fee of 150k. This month of May is almost ending I still haven't heard from my lawyer.
Did your friend's wife insist on paying and it was rejected? There are some people that were called back later to pay the fee. Most times the interview officer tells you the reason why a fee is waived. For example the visa officer that interviewed me told me why I shouldn't pay the visa fee. If they want to change the process please let them change it. Haba! The stress is too much. They can verify documents but let them scrap out this lawyer visit of a thing chai. That's the one that is paining me o.

His wife was simply told by the VO that their is no need for verification for their case. I have no idea what yardstick they use.

For example the visa officer that interviewed me told me why I shouldn't pay the visa fee.

What do you mean by the above statement? You didn't pay for visa fees?

Visa fee and verification fee are two different things
Travel / Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Oracle12: 4:18pm On May 17, 2023
Just curious.

I have the EU Blue Card, my wife went for re-union appointment at the embassy this week and was not asked to pay for verification fee.

A friend's (who does not have the Blue Card, normal work visa) wife I know went also in March and was not asked to pay. ABH wrote him in April, like 6 weeks after the appointment to submit some required documents as per usual.

I am now wondering, has the process changed since this year? Is there no more verification somehow?

Please reply if you went this year and what was your experience.

PS: If you paid for verification, do you have a child? I think they always do verification for people with a +1. I'm trying to see if there is a pattern here. Thanks
