Mrsstephanieo: I missed your question on marriage certificate translation. You need a translation if the marriage certificate is not in English. 1 Like |

DanNwaGod: Relax!! You are getting yourself worked up. Submit the house contract as they stated, you don't need to do any other thing. There is no how your wife's name would be on your contract. Inform your landlord your wife has joined you when she does. 1 Like |

DanNwaGod: The message I posted is as requested by ABH. The part of the contract that specifies the room size and amount you pay monthly is what is very important, its usually in the first two or three pages of the rental contract. Unfortunately I cannot confirm what I have no proof to backup, but I believe its still 15sqm per person. 2 Likes |

DanNwaGod: I was not in Germany when the letter asking for the documents came. One of the documents is pension insurance information which took about a week. You get travel insurance in minutes from AXA mansard website in Nigeria. I did not translate any document. Here are the documents requested in my case. Passport in copy - Copy of the rental contract indicating the size of the apartment in sqm (please do not send the entire (please do not send the entire rental contract) and a copy of the monthly costs of the rent or the (e.g. bank statement) - in case of subletting also copy of the main lease copy of the main rental agreement - Copy of marriage certificate with translation, if applicable - Employment contract and employment certificate (not older than 14 days) - A copy of the net income for the last 6 months and Proof of health insurance with indication of the type and duration of insurance under Indication of the employer - Current pension insurance history (not pension information) and certificate of registration for social insurance I hope it helps. Ask further questions here(not inbox) if any and I will respond, it may help someone else that way we are helping the community. Cheers! 6 Likes |

Zluky: Does not apply if you have graduated and have a full time job, work permit or EU Blue card. I studied also, so I know from my experience and that of others. Emphasis is on having a job that can feed you and your spouse, the 20hrs allowed weekly student work time cannot do this. |

SouthSultan: As long as it's a full time (not working student) job you can apply for reunion visa. If you have the EU Blue Card, then she does not need to show proof of language (A1), for other kinds of resident status of the spouse, it is required. |

Benifu: As far as I know, it has not worked for anyone. You will get appointment, but they will not issue the visa. They will wait until you have a job |

Heyo! Giving back. Here is our timeline. I have the EU Blue Card and reside in Berlin. Booked for re-union visa appointment 23/03/2022 Wife got an email from the embassy on 24/04/2023 for appointment on 16/05/2023 (verification fee was not asked, although she was with it, she did not bother to ask since we were even praying for that long process to be skipped….lol) Received a letter from ABH on 15/06/2023, dated 9/06/2023 asking to submit documents (verification was indeed skipped) I submitted the documents on 03/07/2023. I got a response from ABH on 10/07/2023 that my wife's visa has been approved and it is now on Lagos to issue the visa. 12/07/2023, she got an email to submit her passport, travel health insurance and travel date. We submitted all same day and she got her passport with visa stamped on 19/07/2023. I hope it helps and gives someone hope. 8 Likes |

Babbbbbbbbby: Calling this a pre-approval is misleading. It is approval. A pre-approval for EU Blue Card for instance is gotten before application (booking for appointment) is started at the embassy in Nigeria 2 Likes |

Atopet: As long as your visa is valid. Keep in mind the bureaucracy of extending it when you arrive Germany, it could take some time depending on the city. That's the reason you are given upto 3 months. So waiting a few weeks and upto one month, is not an issue. 1 Like |

osento: I know of someone who had a similar case. If you have a reliable person in Nigeria, send your passport via DHL back to Nigeria, the person sends it to the embassy and once it is stamped, they send it back to you via DHL. 1 Like |

williams2600: Recently some people for the family reunion visa did not pay, verification was not even done. Some didn't pay on the day of the appointment but were asked to pay later. It is not clear yet the yard stick which they use to determine who pays or not. I do not think it is Blue Card, someone I know whose spouse, the verification was not done for this year does not even have a Blue Card, however earns up to the Blue Card threshold though. Please let us know how your goes. 1 Like |

Codedboy95: If you applied in June last year, you will be contacted in July this year for an appointment date in August, that is the pattern, so just relax. |

olig: Yes it will not be approved. If you cancel, you will need to queue again for more than one year to get an appointment. Do you really wanna do that? Do you have hopes of securing a job soon? If yes. My thoughts; Wait for the appointment to drop, postpone it for like three months a head for instance (it is possible by an email), for reasons of unavailability or any other reasons legit to you that also makes sense. If by the time the new date approaches and you still don't have a job, then you may cancel. You can cancel just few days before the appointment. 1 Like |

KingXXI: You do not need to book a flight. Write it in a piece of paper and submit together with the health insurance print out, or in the body of the email if you want to send the health insurance as an attachment via email. They use it to know what start date to print on the visa. |

Bukky098: This is not a good sign, seems like a rejection. You can appeal though if it is a rejection. Was it a family reunion visa? What is your own resident status? |

Travel / Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Oracle12: 12:49pm On May 22, 2023 |
FrauPosh: Please what is your spouse resident permit type? What city is your spouse? These will help better, because the processing time of city A is usually not same as city B and the embassy works directly with those cities before the initiate any process. |
Travel / Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Oracle12: 12:47pm On May 22, 2023 |
FrauPosh: Go a head and process your change of name on passport. If it comes out before you are asked to submit your passport at the embassy, submit both, but let them know one is old and the visa should be on the new one. Its really a very easy matter, nothing to worry about. |

FrauPosh: His wife was simply told by the VO that their is no need for verification for their case. I have no idea what yardstick they use.
What do you mean by the above statement? You didn't pay for visa fees? Visa fee and verification fee are two different things |
Travel / Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Oracle12: 4:18pm On May 17, 2023 |
Just curious. I have the EU Blue Card, my wife went for re-union appointment at the embassy this week and was not asked to pay for verification fee. A friend's (who does not have the Blue Card, normal work visa) wife I know went also in March and was not asked to pay. ABH wrote him in April, like 6 weeks after the appointment to submit some required documents as per usual. I am now wondering, has the process changed since this year? Is there no more verification somehow? Please reply if you went this year and what was your experience. PS: If you paid for verification, do you have a child? I think they always do verification for people with a +1. I'm trying to see if there is a pattern here. Thanks 1 Like |
