The mandatory NYSC scheme is governed by several codes and ethics, the violation of which attracts penalties, ranging from extension of service year to termination of service year.

In recent time, there has been emphasis on the need to participate in the one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme mandated under the enabling Act.

The calls amidst the recent realities of sacks, resignations and disqualifications (among others) of political leaders who became graduates at and/or before the age of thirty but failed to participate in the scheme.

The mandatory NYSC scheme is governed by several codes and ethics, the violation of which attracts penalties, ranging from extension of service year to termination of service year and prosecution among other disciplinary actions to be determined by the designated and/or empowered officials of the Scheme.

David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, recently put in for the mandatory NYSC program sequel to his graduation from the University before the age of thirty. Consequently, he was mobilised to the Iyana Ipaja, Lagos Orientation Camp of the Scheme but has since taken off to do other things.

Davido is widely acknowledged and popular both home and abroad. That said, can we conclude that the George Orwell’s view about the society by his book ‘Animal farm’ is in play? Whence, he said by several allegorical syllogism: “All animals are equal but some are more equal than the other”. In other words, it seems we are all equal before the law but some are more equal than others. The question is; is Davido above all other Corps members currently participating in the program to the extent that he cannot be sanctioned, queried and/or at least cautioned if found wanting?

Davido, 26, was one of the 2,152 Batch ‘B’ Stream II corps members sworn-in at the NYSC orientation camp at Iyana Ipaja in August, 2018. Since Davido joined the Scheme, the Following are the SEVEN NYSC Rules of engagement broken by him:

Chimamanda Adichie says Jesus Christ’s treatment of women is symbol for gender equality

Award-winning author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie met with the press yesterday to discuss the return of her writing workshop and, during the press conference, she talked about religion and how it relates to feminism.

The Americanah author explained that the stories in the bible were rooted in particular cultures and the Jewish people at the time were patriarchal.

But Jesus Christ came and began treating women with a certain degree of respect that was alien to the Jews, thereby making a point that everyone is equal in the sight of God.
She said:

When you use the bible to justify what in my opinion is an injustice, the problem with this is that, I want to then ask you, let’s talk about the new testament, let’s talk about Jesus Christ, because, in general, Christianity really is about the coming of Christ.

Late Reggae singer Raskimono’s wife, Efe Okedi has just passed on, 3 months after her husband’s death.

According to reports, Okedi died in the early hours of today at her Magodo Isheri home in Lagos. The cause of her death is still unknown.
Confirming the death of Efe to Pulse Nigeria, the Project Manager of Premiere Music, Michael Odiong, said the sad incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, September 23.

“Yes, Efe Kimono is dead. She was confirmed dead today, early this morning. I can’t give out any other detail aside this for now.”
Odiong told Pulse.

Reggae icon, Ras Kimono was reported dead on the 10th of June.
Kimono before his death celebrated his 60th birthday with friends and family and was supposed to travel to the United States before his demise.

According to an eyewitness, Jay Stewart, the incident happened on the 14th of September. The Nigerian woman had asked the white lady to remove her bag from the seat next to her so that she could sit.


However, the lady refused and told her that there were other vacant seats. The response anger the Nigerian, making her accuse the other lady of being racist and rude. Other passengers eventually persuaded her to go to another seat.

Senate President and presidential aspirant of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bukola Saraki, yesterday, excited members of the party in Lagos as he assured them that he will do everything within his reach to ensure PDP produced the next governor of the state.

Saraki, who spoke at the PDP secretariat in Lagos State, where he was endorsed as a favorite candidate, said he had the medicine of the man terrorizing Lagos State.

He said: “What you have been fighting for many years, you will have it during the coming election because you now have somebody that has intention and charisma to deal with those disturbing you.

“I have a medicine of the man who regards himself as godfather terrorizing Lagos State. We have their formula, come next year, PDP will take over Lagos.”

Obi Adegoke, a 25-year-old suspected member of the cult said he was lured into the group with promises that he would meet music star, David Adeleke alias Davido.

According to The Nation, Tobi Adegoke who said he was an upcoming music artist, said he believed meeting Davido would have helped his music career boom.
Adegoke was among 27 suspected cultists arrested from various parts of Lagos and paraded by Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal on Wednesday.
He said: “I am an Aiye member (). I have been in the cult for about two years. I was told that Davido was a member and if I joined, I will be able to meet him.

“It was the guy who initiated me that said so. He said he worked for Davido and that it will be an easy access. But since I joined, I have not met Davido. They told me I’ll become a very popular musician but see where I am now.

“I am renouncing my membership of Aiye. I will never belong to any cult again. They should look at my face very well. They will never see me in their midst again.

“I lived at Oniru in Lekki. I used to be a domestic help. Since I joined, I have not done anything bad. I have not killed anybody. I just wanted to be a famous musician.”

Urging other aspiring musicians to be patient, Adegoke said he regretted being on the fast lane, adding that if he had remained steadfast, he would not have landed into trouble.

Another suspect, Biodun Alade, 22, said he joined his own group about four months ago, adding that the teardrop tattoo on his left eye was not a cult symbol.

However, several others denied being cultists, insisting they were arrested during random raids carried out by policemen in their neighbourhoods.

A Nigerian woman based in Toronto has told of how she challenged cultural norms by choosing not to kneel down for her husband during her traditional marriage, and that Nigerian men are mad about it.

The gorgeous Yoruba bride said she and her husband spoke to the coordinators (Alagas) ahead of the wedding and asked that they do not ask her to kneel for her husband. The wedding day came and it was the way the bride and groom wanted it. There was no mention of submission and she didn’t have to kneel.

She said her sister also took a stand at her own wedding which took place earlier this week.

Thirty-three-year-old Zainab Salisu, an internally displaced person (IDP) in Maradun camp, Zamfara, has been delivered of a set of quadruplets, two males and two females. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mrs. Salisu, who hailed from Gidan Dan-Guntu village in Maradun District, was delivered of the babies on Sunday, without complications.


The father of the quadruplets, Malam Salisu Muhammad, told journalists before the delivery that his wife only attended antenatal care only once at the Maradun General Hospital.

“Even then, her condition seemed normal, but she could not get back to the hospital due to fear of attacks by bandits and so we managed her at home since this was not her first pregnancy.

“We, however, noticed that this particular pregnancy was too big, but since she has had seven deliveries including a set of twins, we paid less attention.” He said the woman went into a brief labour in the early hours of Sunday and she was assisted by traditional birth attendants at the IDP.

The police in Lagos state have arrested 29-year-old Taiwo Akinola pictured above for trying to kill his mother, Alice Akinola so as to further his cyber fraud business ( yahoo.com) to the bloody or ritual level (yahoo plus).

A statement by the police command spokesperson, CSP Chike Oti, says Taiwo who lives with his mother at No.2 Raji Ajanaku street, Alaja Road, Ayobo, Lagos, is a staunch member of the notorious Aiye confraternity.

At about 8 am yesterday Sunday, August 19th, Taiwo went to his mother’s provision store in front of their apartment and told her to meet him inside the house for an important discussion and at the same time sent his nephew, Faruk to go buy him a white handkerchief and a stick of cigarette.

As soon as his mother entered the house, the suspect attacked her, smashing her head with a plank, pressing iron and a UPS charger to ensure she didn’t survive the ferocious attack.

When Faruk returned from the errand, he didn’t see his grandmother in the shop so he went into the house only to see the poor woman lying in a pool of blood.

Shocked by what he saw, the small boy raised the alarm which attracted neighbours to the scene.

They called the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ayobo Division who arrived the scene with his team and promptly arrested the suspect and secured the scene for further investigation by the police forensic experts attached to the Homicide section SCIID Panti, Yaba.

The victim was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment and was found to be hanging onto life. Right now, the doctors are battling to revive Mrs Alice Akinola presently unconscious Meanwhile the CP has paid the initial hospital cost which enabled the doctors to commence treatment.
