what continent does russia actually belong to?
I was having a debate with my parents about this--
although most of russia is located on the Asian continent, the
actual captial is located inside the European continent.
because of that, my dad says that russia is officially
considered as a "european" continent.

The Federal Ministry of Justice has asked the Code of Conduct
Tribunal, CCT, sitting in Abuja to issue bench warrant for the
arrest of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.
A deputy director in the office of the Attorney General of the
Federation, Mr. M.S. Hassan, applied for the arrest order
following Saraki’s refusal to appear before the tribunal to
enter his plea to the13- count corruption charge against him.
Saraki who was billed for arraignment this morning, sent his
team of lawyers to serve the tribunal with a copy of the ruling
of Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Abuja Division of the
Federal High Court, yesterday, which summoned the Ministry
of Justice to appear on Monday to show cause why the trial
should be allowed to proceed.
Equally summoned by the court were the Chairman of the
tribunal, Justice Danladi Umar and that of the Code of
Conduct Bureau, CCB, Mr. Sam Saba, as well as Mr. Hassan
who signed the charge against Saraki.
Meanwhile, irked by Saraki’s absence at the tribunal for the
commencement of his prosecution over alleged false
declaration of assets, the Ministry of Justice prayed the
Justice Umar-led panel to order for his arrest, saying “he
cannot sit in the comfort of his chamber and object to his trial
in absentia”.
The prosecution further maintained that Justice Mohammed
lacked the powers to summon the CCT and CCB chairmen,
even as it accused Saraki of engaging in “forum shopping” in
a desperate bid to scuttle his trial.

The National Broadcasting Commission [NBC] on
Friday said it has arrested operators of Radio
Biafra, blocked the station from Nigeria’s airwaves
and seized its transmission equipment in many
part of Nigeria’s South-East zone.
NBC’s Director General, Emeka Mba, made this
known Friday in a statement made available to
PREMIUM TIMES.
Mr. Mba said his commission has effectively
neutralised the illegal broadcast from the pirate
radio station he said had shattered the peace of
South-East Nigeria with unsavoury messages.
“Working with security operatives, the commission
has also tracked down, neutralized and confiscated
transmitter equipment from several locations in the
region,” he said.
“Some suspects involved in the illicit broadcasts
have also been arrested and taken to Abuja for
questioning and prosecution.
“The commission has also worked with other
agencies to remove the transmissions of the illegal
station from the satellite, and this has put paid to
the divisive and disruptive transmissions.”
He said the commission appreciated the concerns
expressed by Nigerians over the seditious
activities of the illegal radio station and urged the
people of the region to disregard the messages
purveyed by it.
Radio Biafra was floated by some Nigerians in the
South-East of the country, who appear nostalgic of
the defunct Biafra Republic, which ceased to exist
at the end of the Nigerian civil war in 1970.
While its backers say the radio caters for the
needs of people from the region, the network is
also known for propagating falsehood, dangerous
propaganda and ideology of the former
secessionist Republic.
This newspaper had on July 10 wrote an editorial
drawing attention to the disturbing signals from the
radio station and called for urgent steps to curtail
its excesses.
Four days later, the government said it had
successfully jammed its signals.
The permanent secretary in the Ministry of
Information, Shade Yemi-Esan, made this known
Tuesday while briefing journalists at the
presidential villa after briefing President
Muhammadu Buhari on the activities of her
ministry.
She claimed the NBC had successfully blocked the
signals of the radio station.
However, on July 15, PREMIUM TIMES
correspondents in the South-East of Nigeria, and
other listeners confirmed that station remained on
the airwaves as of Tuesday night and Wednesday
morning, long after Ms. Yemi-Esan, told journalists
it had been blocked.
The station also denounced the claim by
government, tweeting that its terrestrial
transmission remained alive as well as its online
radio.
“Radio Biafra is live in Biafra land: NBC woe to you
and your lies: NBC lied to their master and
gullib…,” the radio tweeted. |
“His condition is stable — he is fine — but he’ll
be in a neck brace,” spokesman Jim McGrath
said on Twitter.
Mr McGrath told CNN Mr Bush, 91, was being
treated in a hospital in Portland, Maine.
Mr Bush was never disoriented and his stay at
the facility was not expected to be long, Mr
McGrath said.
Mr Bush spent Christmas Day last year in a Texas
hospital after experiencing breathing problems.
Another Bush prince on the throne?
Following years in the political trenches for his
family, Jeb Bush is finally carving out his own
path to the White House.
The former Republican president served from
1989 to 1993. His term was defined by his
aggressive response to Iraqi president Saddam
Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait in 1990.
He lost the election for a second term to Bill
Clinton.
The 41st US president and the oldest of the four
living former US presidents, the wheelchair-
bound Mr Bush appeared frail in recent public
appearances.

In a new twist, a former church insider has claimed that the terrible Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) building collapse that claimed many lives was a “sacrifice”. A Nigerian evangelist who had worked with the church recently claimed in an interview with Daily Telegraph in Accra, Ghana, that Pastor T.B Joshua sacrificed victims of the church collapse. The former SCOAN worker added that followers of the church should expect more calamities. The woman identified as Mabel further said that she was part of the Synagogue game before God opened her eyes and sent her into a full time prison ministry in Accra. She maintained that the SCOAN collapse was a form of compulsory spiritual sacrifice which the respected man of God had to offer to the gods behind his success. She further said that two cows were buried alive in the foundation of the main church auditorium. Mabel insisted that Pastor TB Joshua avoided going to court during the initial hearing because lying will forfeit the purpose of the ritual he used the victims for.She then insisted that her interview should be published to reveal to those that care to know that more calamities will befall Joshua soon unless he repents and gives his life to Christ, forsakes his gods and stops deceiving the innocent congregation trooping into his church from everywhere in the world... source.. naij. com |

A former Speaker of the Ekiti State House of
Assembly, Femi Bamisile, has said that his party
will monitor the state government’s spending of
the N2.1 billion recently approved by the federal
government.
Speaking at the All Progressives Congress, APC,
stakeholders meeting in Ado-Ekiti, the ex-
lawmaker thanked President Muhammadu Buhari
and the Federal Government for extending the
support to the state.
“President Buhari has given Ekiti a lifeline. He has
rescued our people out of poverty and (Governor
Ayo) Fayose must pay our workers. He must not
divert the money,” he said.
“The APC as an opposition party is monitoring the
situation closely. Fayose will give account of how
he spent the N2.1 billion . He will also explain to
EFCC how he spent the N22 billion released by FG
on Federal roads constructed by Fayemi, because
his immunity will go very
soon.”
Mr. Bamisile said his party would return to power
in the state in 2018 when governorship election is
held there.
The lawmaker, along with his 18 other APC
lawmakers in the last Ekiti Assembly, failed to oust
Governor Fayose, despite having an overwhelming
majority. Their efforts were thwarted in the last
period of their tenure when the governor locked up
the assembly complex and mobilized residents of
the state against them.
According to him, the loss suffered by former
Governor Kayode Fayemi to Mr. Fayose was a
temporary setback to the party, assuring that the
party would reconcile all interests and bounce back
to reckoning in the next dispensation.
On the crisis rocking the party over the leadership
of the National Assembly, he said, “We will always
fight because such is normal in politics. But while
fighting, we must always display extreme loyalty to
our party. That is what I believe in.
“The best way we can show this is by believing in
any reconciliation efforts put in place in resolving
crisis. I quite believe that we shall overcome and
come out stronger.”source.. premiumtime cc. lalasticlala |
