For those still wondering what F1 visa is being given, it's single entry with 3 months validity. I submitted for renewal in June before they passed the new rules and was put on in AP.
Were you interviewed when you submitted for renewal in June?

Hello everyone,

If a particular consular officer have denied one of visa previously, and the person reapplies again and the person happens to see himself before the same consular officer that denied him, can the person decline to be interviewed by the same consular officer and request to be interviewed by another consular officer that hasn't interviewed him previously?

NB: I have been denied by the 2 males at Lagos Consulate in August 2023 and June 2025.

Hello.

YOU;
I attended F1 interview in August 2023, I was denied based on 214b. I have attached my transcript below.

*** I wont talk about it as its irrelevant to your present state , it would have been relevant in the year 2023 if you had planned to re-apply then.

YOU ;
Currently, I have a fully funded Mechanical Engineering MS at a different university and the research is different too.

*** Ths is your current state (situation) which you need to focus on by reading past & present transcripts that is related to it.

YOU;
What questions should I expect from the consular officer and how to answer them.

*** If i want to (or any competent person) deduce a genuine possible questions and answers for you i must know your profile & status. Any suggestions other than this is just going to be a generalisation.

YOU;
How do I answer question like, "is been 10 yrs you graduated, why are you going for yours Master now".

*** How did know that the consular will ask you this specific question? This is the beginning of a pre-meditated answers. You cannot cram every answers you are imagining. Your gap-year can be explained inside your ds-160 or genuinely when asked.

YOU;
I have another worry, I stutter sometimes while speaking but not so bad, so during my first interview, I was advised to write a note on an A4 paper "Chronic stammerer, please I need you to be patient with me". I showed the consular officer as I approached him and I also told him verbally that I stutter, that he should be patient with me.

***. There is a space you can improvise and slot this in inside your visa application (ds-160).

*** U.S. visa officers are also trained to handle interviews with individuals who stutter or have other speech impediments. So it's not new.

*** Inform the officer about your stutter early in the interview. At the interview, bring a sheet of paper saying ' i have a stammer, plz allow me the time needed to answer you questions, or allow me to write my answers' (you can go with blank paper and a pen). Good LucK 👍
Thank you very much for your detailed response and explanation.

I have some questions.

*** If i want to (or any competent person) deduce a genuine possible questions and answers for you i must know your profile & status. Any suggestions other than this is just going to be a generalisation.

Can you kindly list out what entails the profile and status? I want to supply the information.

b]***. There is a space you can improvise and slot this in inside your visa application (ds-160). [/b]

I have been checking the section I can input that I stutter in the DS-160, please can you point me to such space?

Thank you once again for your detailed explanation and response.

I am very grateful.

He then said but you didn't stutter now, I guess he felt I wasn't been honest.

What is the best way to go about it, should I let the consular officer know that I stutter at the beginning of the interview or I just leave it out and answer the questions without informing him/her?

Hi Efotobore,

Thank you for your detailed response. I am grateful.

I will go with the option that the money will be in my account.

I have another question, we don't have the full $5k equivalent in Naira, if we can get someone to deposit the fund, how long are we going to leave it in the account before we print the account statement to submit to the school for the I-20s.

Secondly, can we arrange the account statement via olowore.

Thirdly, does the school and the embassy carry out verification of the account statement.

Good evening everyone.

I am really confused, please I need advice.

I have full funding ($32,184) for my MS program that will start Fall 2025. My school asked for $5k proof of fund to add my spouse as F-2.

Here is my question, I want to know the effect that the proof of fund that I am going to send to the school will have on the visa interview. I plan on going together with her to the interview.

NB: That both me and my wife are working in a good company here in Nigeria.

1. Should the whole $5k be in my account, and what will this mean to the consular officer since she is also employed.

2. Should the whole $5k be in her account, and what implication does it have.

3. Should we split the fund, say $3k for me and $2k for her, and what implication does it have.

NB: we don't have a joint account.

4. Please who has gone interview with their dependent at the same time, how did it go, what do we expect.

Please I need you guys to talk to me before overthinking finish me.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Otelsmyg(m):
Good day everyone.

I want to add my spouse as F-2 (dependent) and the school wants a $5k proof of fund. They said that the proof of fund document can be in my name or my spouse's name or a sponsor's name.

Please, which person's financial documents should be used and why (what impact will any choice of the financial documents be on the interview), bearing in mind that both the student (F-1) and the dependent (F-2) will attend the interview at the same time.

NB: Both the F-1 and F-2 works in a multinational company here in Nigeria.

F-1 Master's program is fully funded.
