Security operatives kill 18 bandits in Katsina ambush

Security operatives in Katsina State have killed 18 suspected bandits and recovered weapons and livestock during an intelligence-led ambush in Bakori Local Government Area. Reports indicate that the remand order was issued on September 4, 2026, following proceedings concerning allegations surrounding the alleged sexual assault and death of Favour Agbro.

The case reportedly began after allegations that Favour travelled to Asaba following an invitation from the accused. The Delta State Police Command subsequently announced Ogbonna’s arrest in July 2026 after a complaint was lodged in connection with the allegations.

DDM Learnt that investigations into the circumstances surrounding Favour’s death have included autopsy and toxicology examinations, with the resulting reports reportedly forwarded to the Delta State Ministry of Justice as part of the case file.

The matter is expected to continue through the judicial and prosecutorial processes, while Ogbonna remains in custody following the court’s refusal to grant him bail.

NDC Wins Battle Over “Two-Finger” Logo as Court Orders INEC to Restore It

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has secured a major legal victory in its dispute with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the party’s official logo.

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, presided over by Hon. Justice J.O. Abdulmalik, has ordered INEC to approve and use the NDC’s modified digital logo — a “two-finger victory sign” on a blue background with the letters “NDC” written in red.

According to the NDC, the party approved the modified logo at its First National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on March 25, 2026, and subsequently forwarded it to INEC. The Commission initially uploaded the new logo but later removed it and reinstated the old association logo.

The NDC said it gave INEC sufficient time to resolve the matter administratively before approaching the court for legal redress.

In its judgment, the court ordered INEC to approve the modified logo, including its symbol and colours, for use by the NDC as its official logo for all purposes as a political party, including elections conducted by INEC.

A young man has cried out over an alleged ordeal at a police checkpoint in Imo State, claiming that officers forcefully took his ATM card and withdrew **₦582,000 from his bank account**.

Ugwuonye argued that, in his view, privacy concerns should be weighed against the public interest, particularly when the person involved is a sitting president and a major political figure whose record is relevant to voters.

He further examined the circumstances surrounding the reported $460,000 forfeiture in 1991, asking what might have happened if Tinubu had refused to forfeit the money and instead insisted that the funds were legitimately obtained.

Ugwuonye offered his interpretation that agreeing to the forfeiture could have been connected to an assessment of potential legal exposure at the time, while stressing the importance of understanding the complete historical record before drawing conclusions.

Adeyemi in fresh trouble as Reps uncover 58 linked bank accounts
Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the detained self-acclaimed Director-General of the fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), is in fresh trouble as the House of Representatives’ ad hoc committee probing the scandal disclosed that about 58 bank accounts and 12 entities are linked to him through his Bank Verification Number (BVN).
According to the committee’s preliminary findings released on Wednesday, more than 30 of the 58 accounts were operated in the names of about nine agencies, companies, foundations or related entities, while others were held in personal or variant names. Committee Chairman Yusuf Gagdi said information from financial and investigative institutions showed that the BVN and other identifying details associated with Adeyemi—sometimes recorded as “Adeyemi Matthew”—were tied to a substantial network of personal, corporate, organisational and foundation accounts.
DDM learnt that the 12 entities linked to Adeyemi include bodies with official-sounding names such as the Confederation of United Nations Youths, FCT Investment Promotion Agency and Public-Private Partnership, FCT Investment Promotion Council and Public-Private Partnership, Foreign Investment Promotion Agency, United Nations Youth Global Agency and United Nations Youth Global Foundation. The panel also said it was probing an alleged N400 million transaction in which a businessman claimed he paid Adeyemi for a PFIPC contract to renovate and furnish an official residence.
The lawmakers reiterated that PFIPC was never lawfully established by any Act of Parliament or Executive Order, and that Adeyemi’s purported appointment letter as DG was fraudulent. While the committee cleared Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila of direct involvement, it recommended further investigation and possible prosecution of Adeyemi and others who aided the scheme. Adeyemi, who is already facing an eight-count charge of forgery, fraud and impersonation, has denied the allegations and maintained that PFIPC is a genuine agency.
