It never ceases to amaze me the way bad or defamatory news goes viral... without confirmation. The latest viral *bad news* making the rounds about an inferred attempted robbery or kidnapping in Sunnyvale Abuja, is one of such, *full of conjectures and ending with a flourish of clearly stated ignorance* about the mitigating actions by the Estate's security agents. _The true story is this:_ The armed men were officers from the police force. They didn't go through the proper process of informing the FM to take them to the house. They reported at the outpost police station in the estate to make entry of their presence and went straight into the estate looking for one Mr. Uchechukwu without a detailed description of the house. Victim's house was actually the 2nd one they had tried to gain access to in a bid to execute a stealth mission or *surprise arrest* They ought to be accompanied by the estate police officer to prevent this unfortunate incident but the l officer were in a hurry to execute their mission and left without any supervision or direction. They started going round the estate trying to locate their suspect. As a resident, I am very upset with the quick-fingered originator for crying wolf... Ask yourself, will three able bodied ARMED MEN with intention to rob or kidnap waste time talking and asking questions instead of simply issuing their threat and executing their nefarious actions? Naija and unconfirmed viral news sha! |

Eniola Akinkuotu, Abuja The Nigerian Army has warned the United Kingdom against interfering in Nigeria’s elections following comments by the UK that the role of the military in the Rivers State elections was improper. The British High Commission in Nigeria had in a series of tweets on Monday expressed concerns over the report of military interference in the election in Rivers State. It said the military interference in the polls put stress on the staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission and has made it difficult for them to carry out their duties. However, the army said in a statement by acting Director of Public Relations, Col. Sagir Musa, that the allegations were baseless. In a statement titled, ‘Re: UK expresses concern over military involvement in Rivers poll’, the army denied allegations that its men contributed to the electoral problems in the state. “Foreign interests are enjoined to be mindful of interfering in our national internal affairs especially when there is no credible evidence. Any allegation against the NA must be confirmed from appropriate quarters before jumping to conclusions,” the army said. The agency said there was no evidence to show that its men compromised the exercise. The statement added, “The NA wishes to state that the statement is totally baseless, untrue and therefore capable of misleading unsuspected members of the public, especially when there is no credible record of such involvement anywhere in Nigeria before, during and after the 2019 elections. “The NA, as a responsible organisation, wishes to debunk such misrepresentation in order to set the record straight. Similarly, it is on record that the NA has been globally applauded by many individuals, foreign and local elections observers for its sacrifices/roles in creating an enabling environment for a secure, transparent and peaceful conduct of the elections.” The army maintained that politicians gave hoodlums military uniforms which confused members of the public. It said it would continue to remain neutral during and after the polls, adding that it was only providing assistance to civilian security agencies. It added, “The NA has also drawn the attention of the public to mischievous activities of some selfish individuals who recruited thugs dressed in military uniform and armed to harass and intimidate their opponents. In some cases, as reported, and as indicated in various intelligence reports, – hoodlums dressed in military fatigue snatched ballot boxes and other electoral materials. Some INEC staff were reportedly abducted.” Source: punchng

THEY DISPLAYED MY MOCK COFFIN PUBLICLY~ Jonathan. Photographs Of My Mock Coffin Traumatised My Mother Who Lost Eight Children, Says GEJ Former President Goodluck Jonathan says pictures of his mock coffin displayed in the media during the anti-fuel subsidy removal protests of 2012 traumatised his aged mother who had lost eight children. Jonathan said this in his recently published book titled, My Transition Hours. The former President said, “The protests continued unabated. In all of these, one woman I pitied most was my aged mother who was with me in the State House. “Every day, she watched on television protesters carrying a casket with my picture on it and having the inscription ‘Rest In Peace.’ “I could imagine her trauma. This is a woman who had 10 live births with only my elder sister and I surviving.” Jonathan said during the protests, several notable Nigerians visited him, asking him to reverse the increment in the pump price of petrol. Some of the prominent Nigerians who visited him include: General-Overseer, Living Faith Mission (Winners Chapel) Bishop David Oyedepo; Primate of the Anglican Church, Rt.Rev Nichola Okoh and eight other clerics. He said what was more disheartening was the fact that the opposition in Lagos had hijacked the protests. Jonathan added that even the Nigeria Labour Congress which had been briefed on the matter before the subsidy removal was announced was co-opted into joining the protests. The former President added, “In Lagos State for instance, it was like a carnival. Musicians, comedians and other celebrities were engaged by opposition elements to join the protests. Refreshments were served to protesters. “Every morning Lagos State government workers cleaned up the Gani Fawehinmi Park and prepared it for the day’s protests. It appeared as though the protesters were very special guests of the Lagos State Government. Similar scenarios played out in other opposition controlled states.” Jonathan further stated that the House of Representatives, which was led by pro-opposition Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, decided to exploit the situation. He said the House accused him of fleeing the country in a bid to exploit the situation for political gain. The former President added, “The House of Representatives whose Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, was hobnobbing with the opposition (he eventually defected to the opposition) did not help matters. “Thinking that I had left the country for South Africa to attend the centenary celebration of the African National Congress, Speaker Tambuwal convened the House to sit on a Sunday just to condemn the deregulation. “That was the first and only time in Nigeria’s political history that the parliament sat on a Sunday. At that sitting, an opposition member of the House got up to allege that I had abandoned the nation at such a crucial time to join festivities in South Africa. “Unknown to the House, on that same day while they were sitting, I was at Eagle Square to inaugurate mass transit vehicles my administration purchased to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal.” #NB Same People who Occupied Nigeria then suddenly became dumb without Brains anymore. #Copied

The Speaker of Katsina State House of Assembly, Abubakar Kusada, could not vote during Saturday bye-election for the Ingawa/Kusada/Kankia Federal House of Representatives due to his lack of a Permanent Voters Card. Kusada, who was the All Progressives Congress candidate in the election, nonetheless, won the election in his polling unit. The Speaker had arrived his Unguwar Kaya primary school polling unit at 12.47pm, armed with a temporary voter card. After his name was checked and seen on the voters’ list, the Speaker could, however, not vote since he did not possess a Permanent Voter Card, which was required to exercise his franchise.
