It is true because by now, most applications to German schools for MSc programs would have closed for winter semester (October) but you can apply against summer semester (April) next year. German schools take a longer time to process admission unlike UK. But if you are for PhD and you get the scholarship, you can write to a supervisor at any time and if you get a positive feedback, you can start at an arranged time. You don't necessarily have to wait for April or October but this also depends on whether your supervisor is in a University or a research institute. I am a PTDF PhD scholar, I started the same year I got the scholarship, I got the success email around mid August, wrote to a supervisor and was lucky to get a positive response within 1 week and I started in November.

Germany being in recession should not be a reason not to select it because advanced countries like it know how to ameliorate the effects of recession on their citizens such that you only hear about it in the news but you don't feel the effect much.

Also, if you get the scholarship in the GFM category, you can switch between Germany, France and Malaysia but not to UK and anybody going to UK can only go to UK and cannot switch to the GFM category. Though, for the 2022 scholars, there is a little exception for Germany scholars and they are allowed to change to the UK because of some delays with the PTDF/DAAD partnership but this is not usually so

Well, for me I was asked majorly questions concerning my PhD proposal, questions like in 5 or 10 mins (can't remember the exact duration now), talk about your PhD proposal with focus on why you want to do the PhD research, innovations in your research and potential applications. Some people were asked how their projects can solve problems or how it is related to the oil and gas sector. They also asked some questions to ascertain the feasibility of my potential research. So, I will suggest that you get so familiar with your research proposal or SOP and own it such that you can answer any questions associated with it.

Also, for those asking about getting admission before the interview day, you don't need to have admission. Infact, most people don't have admission before the interview so having admission doesn't give you any advantage so relax if you are not able to secure one.

It is really wrong to make a statement like this. I got the scholarship last year without knowing anybody or pulling any strings and I know of several people who said same. Infact, I did my interview online too so d fact that u didn't get it last year or someone u know didn't get it doesn't mean d process is not fair

Then how come someone who submitted application last is ranked at the top of their state. CGPA is not the only thing the application asks for. It asks for your WAEC grades - the specific A1 or B2 or B3. It also asks for class of degree e.g 1st class is 30 points, 2'1 is 24 points 2'2 is 18 points. A1 is 6 points, B2. is 5 points. All those are numbers that are fed into the system for shortlisting. Or do you think PTDF would scroll through 20,000 applications to shortlist 8000? they'll use computer software to do the separation

I think you are correct, I submitted my application few minutes past midnight on the deadline, I was No 1 for my state for the interview list for PhD GFM category and I got d scholarship (No 32), I think all d published lists are arranged according to performance

She will have to go first and later bring her husband and family because the way Germany visa works, the person bringing you will have to have a residence card and some other support documents which makes it almost impossible for them to go together but tell the person that as she is applying for visa, the husband and accompanying children should equally apply because Germany family reunion visa takes very long

Disregard d above, just went back & found out dat bank account info has been included in d 1st page (and d bank is not exactly required so I just entered d acct # and name, hoping dat'll b enough). Also, PTDF file # is no longer required as it was b4, meaning one can proceed to d final stage.

Wat I'd want clarification for b4 submitting is IF acct# and name is enough account info without d bank. Somebody, anybody pls...

I just went back to d form now & realized DAT other banks are included so d bank acct opening wahala is scrapped off, what a relief!

Yes it's d 2nd page of d induction form I saw DAT we are required to fill in our account details. From d email, it seems we are expected to fill out all dis info b4 d documentation, what if someone one can't fill it out because of some issues like dis arising, will dey b any penalty? @ Dmainman

No special materials oo, I just studied online, tried some online questions/tests, u can get some at indiabix.com. U are tested based on d specialty u choose, it consists of 50 questions & general English questions consisting of 100 questions.

For nairalanders dat r yet 2 b interviewed, ensure u av 1 photocopy of all d documents mentioned in d text and any1, u feel u'll b asked for & two copies of ur drivers license or int passport data page cos photocopying documents @ Golden Tulip hotel cost N80 per page
