In 2018 I was in a place called kontagora in niger state...is one of the extreme end town of niger state bordering kebbi state. That place is local government of the present government of niger state abubakar Sani Bello! The biggest and only decent hotel called JAMAL is owned by an igbo man. Igbos has a settlement there called dadin kowa...they buy land and build decent houses there, built a big Catholic cathedral.. they control their local market, building materials, spare parts and other commerce in that place. Imagine doing this in far away kontagora in niger state! Is just a fact that these guys are controlling retail business in Nigeria even though the percentage may not be up to what the writer is putting up

And talking about dadin kowa how many houses in that area belongs to Igbos for you to call it Igbo settlement infact there are more Yorubas in Dadin kowa than Igbos in fact. 80% of Igbos in that area are on rent not owners, and the Catholic Church there was not build by Igbos stop typing trash... Of all the areas we have in Kontagora only the barrack gate do we have Igbos owning 80% of the houses there, places like federal low cost, state low cost and samunaka has almost 80% of properties belonging to Yorubas.

According to the Punch Newspapers, Igbo Elders council members have written a petition to President Muhammadu Buhari and the international community including the European Union, United Kingdom, United Nations, ECOWAS and China.

In the last few months, there have been multiple attacks by unknown gunmen on police officers and their stations in the southeast region and some part of the south-south. These criminal group also took interest in burning INEC facilities in the region.

To contain the situation, the federal government deployed Nigerian soldiers to the region. However, the Igbo Elders Council has cried out that most of the youths that are being allegedly arrested are innocent. 

In a statement obtained by the Punch Newspapers, the elders wrote to the international community that over 5,000 Igbo youths have been allegedly killed in the southeast and more than 10,000 are allegedly languishing in terrible detention camps

They appealed to the international community to intervene in the matter for the sake of peace so that the current situation will not be aggravated. 

It is important to remember that since the army was deployed to the region, they have killed some IPOB/ESN commanders and some people have also been arrested for the attacks on Police officers in the region.
