Politics / Withdraw EFCC Chairman From Pastoral Role At RCCG - Christian Body Demands by ovamalik: 2:59pm On Feb 08
The Christian Integrity Watch Nigeria (CIWN), led by Rev. Dr. Thomas Nwanchukwu, has issued a scathing rebuke directed at the leadership of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), urging them to swiftly renounce the pastoral status of Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The call comes amidst allegations of Olukoyede's involvement in political vendettas through the misuse of his commission's powers, tarnishing the image of the Redeemed Church and the broader Christian community.

The uproar stems from the outcome of a Fact-Check exercise carried out by the body following the EFCC's involvement of the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello in charge No. FHC/ABJ/CR/550/2022: FRN V. 1. Ali Bello 2. Dauda Suleiman, currently pending before Honorable Justice J.K. Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja Division, now ‘Amended Charge’ to include in the count, the name of Yahaya Bello, and describing him as being “at large.”

Addressing the newsmen in Enugu on Thursday, Nwanchukwu disclosed that EFCC's claims are disjointed and watery, noting that for the fact that the crime said to be committed happened months before the assumption of office by Bello, he can not be linked to the case except that it has become obvious that Olukoyede who is a pastor and expected to exhibit utmost integrity is now conniving with political cronies to victimize the former governor.

President Bola Tinubu appointed Olukoyede as the Executive Chairman of the EFCC. Born in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti, on October 14, 1969, Olukoyede boasts an impressive educational background, having studied at institutions such as Lagos State University, University of Lagos, and Harvard University. Prior to his appointment, Olukoyede served as the EFCC Secretary and Chief of Staff to former EFCC Chair, Ibrahim Magu.

Despite his notable credentials, Olukoyede's alleged involvement in partisan political activities has drawn sharp criticism. The Kogi State Government has accused the EFCC, under Olukoyede's leadership, of orchestrating a smear campaign against former Governor Bello. The EFCC's amended charge against Bello, accusing him of diverting Kogi State Government funds in September 2015, four months before assuming office, has been denounced as laughable and politically motivated.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information in Kogi State, Kingsley Fanwo, the state government condemned the EFCC's actions as a blatant attempt to tarnish Bello's reputation for political gain. The state government refuted the allegations, highlighting the absurdity of accusing Bello of crimes committed before assuming office as Governor. The EFCC's pursuit of baseless charges against Bello and other political figures has raised serious doubts about the commission's credibility and impartiality.

CIWN, along with other civil society organizations, echoed the state government's sentiments, calling on President Tinubu to intervene and restore integrity to the EFCC. They demanded Olukoyede's removal from his pastoral role within the Redeemed Christian Church of God, citing concerns over his involvement in partisan activities contrary to the church's principles.

"The unprecedented level of political interference and manipulation within the EFCC has sparked outrage and undermined public confidence in the commission's ability to carry out its mandate effectively. Civil society groups and concerned citizens have called for urgent reforms to insulate anti-corruption agencies from political influence and ensure their impartiality in combating corruption," CIWN said.

The body warns that the body of Christ should not be dragged into political matter that could tarnish the image of the Church, adding that the leadership of RCCG must quickly disassociate self from the EFCC chairman before it drags the name of the church into the mud.

Politics / Insecurity And Gross Misconduct: Three Traditional Leaders Deposed In Kogi by ovamalik: 7:19pm On Jan 08
In a bold move to address growing concerns over insecurity, Governor Yahaya Bello has taken decisive action, ordering the deposition of three traditional leaders in Kogi State. The leaders, accused of gross misconduct and fueling insecurity, now face the consequences of their actions.

Governor Bello, citing adherence to traditional and chieftaincy laws, rules, and regulations, announced the removal of Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isah Koto, the Ohimege-Igu Koton-Karfe, who also serves as the Chairman of the Lokoja/Kogi Local Government Area Traditional Council. Alhaji Koto is set to be deposed to Rijau Local Government Area of Niger State.

Similarly, the Olu Magongo of Magongo, His Royal Highness Sam Bola Ojoa, is to be deposed to Salka, Magama Local Government Area of Niger State. Another deposed traditional leader is His Royal Highness Samuel Adayi Onimisi, the Obobanyi of Emani, who is slated to move to Doko, Lavun Local Government Area of Niger State.

Governor Bello emphasized that the deposition of Onimisi stemmed from the contentious upgrade of the title "Obobanyi of Ihima" to first-class status. He revealed that the promotion was done without consideration for an ongoing legal dispute over the title. As a result, the stool is reverted to "Obobanyi of Emani," and the present occupant remains deposed.

In addition to the depositions, the governor announced the indefinite suspension of His Royal Highness Boniface Musa, the Onu-Ife in Omala Local Government Area, further underlining the gravity of the charges.

The governor's decisive actions underscore the commitment to tackling insecurity and upholding the rule of law. The depositions and suspension send a clear message that misconduct and actions exacerbating insecurity will not be tolerated, even among traditional leaders who hold influential positions in their communities.

As Kogi State navigates these changes, the people await the ripple effects of the governor's bold decisions on the overall security landscape and the restoration of stability within traditional leadership structures.

Politics / Coalition Condemns SDP, Muri Ajaka For Night Attack On Tribunal Secretary by ovamalik: 10:49pm On Dec 04, 2023
Coalition of Civil Society Organization Condemns SDP and Muri Ajaka for Attack on Tribunal Secretary Monday Night in Lokoja

A coalition of 13 Civil Society Organizations has expressed displeasure over the forceful attack on the Kogi State Governorship Tribunal Secretary to accept a backdated petition at about 8:45 PM on Monday, following the 21 days' expiration of petition filing after the November 11th gubernatorial election held in Kogi state.

In an emergency meeting in Lokoja on Monday night, the coalition issued a joint press statement condemning the molestation of the Tribunal Secretary, Mr. David Mike, by some thugs and the legal team of Muri/Sam. Dr. Kayode Olasukanmi Daniel, the coalition's spokesperson, described the incident as a coup attempt that could lead to a breakdown of law and order in the state.

Dr. Kayode expressed pity for the helpless Tribunal Secretary, stating that the SDP's legal team broke into his office with armed thugs, demanding him to backdate and receive their petition. After having their way forcefully, They hurriedly took pictures of the Backdated Documents ( Petition) which was full of Light reflections from Mobile Phones on the front and back pages, as it was done about 9pm Monday. The Light reflections signified it was done late hours in the dark but with the help of Phone and touch Lights to enable them Spread it on Social media to mislead the Public following their failure to meet the deadline.

The coalition plans to file criminal charges against the SDP and its candidate within the next 48 hours, emphasizing the importance of upholding the rule of law.

Dr. Kayode thanked all coalition members for their concern and coming out late in defense of democracy.

It's noteworthy that Muri Ajaka and SDP failed to file their case within the 21 days after the declaration of results, as stipulated by the Electoral Act. With this failure, it becomes clear that no candidate or party is challenging Ahmed Usman Ododo's victory at the Governorship Tribunal.

Politics / Bwala Warns Female Minister, Further Reports Exposed Her Atrocities by ovamalik: 2:31pm On Dec 04, 2023
Daniel Bwala, the spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, has issued a warning to an unnamed female minister, urging her to cease presenting herself as the First Lady of Nigeria. The caution, delivered via Bwala's verified social media handle, highlighted concerns about the minister's conduct around President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing potential complications for her in doing so.

He wrote, “The beauty pageant minister should be advised by the protocol say make she no dey package herself near presido like say she be First Lady in every trip when she follow them.

" First Lady fit sack am ohhh. I no even know wetin carry humanitarian matter follow trip abroad sef, except if her job include hurricane catrina, Haiti earthquake, flood for china, cyclone mocha, earthquake for Turkey etc.”

Reports further indicate that this female minister has allegedly been involved in questionable activities within an office close to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The need for immediate intervention is stressed, emphasizing the importance of reigning her in and instilling a sense of fear within the office and among the "villa boys" to deter similar actions, considering the public's awareness of her reported atrocities.

One of the critical issues raised against the female minister pertains to the deteriorating living conditions among Nigeria's poorest population. Reports claim that, on a daily basis, at least three million Nigerian children go to bed hungry. This situation was exacerbated by a United Nations World Food Programme report in April 2023, which revealed that one in eight Nigerians, totaling 24.8 million people, were facing acute hunger. The reports also cautioned against the misuse of funds intended for community projects to gain political favors.

Recent images circulating on the internet allegedly depict the female minister strategically positioning herself in close proximity to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Coalition of Civil Society Groups in Nigeria expressed deep concern over this, emphasizing the need for President Tinubu to take immediate note of the situation. The group raised issues with the perception that the ministry in question may be a politically created entity for female ministers lacking moral records, potentially available for unofficial engagements.

Accusations against the female minister include her purported involvement in all trips undertaken by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and taking photographs to create a false impression of closeness. The group claims she uses these tactics to manipulate the Chief of Staff (CoS) and the "villa boys" to fulfill her agenda. The group highlighted the minister's alleged influence on the CoS, resulting in the removal of some ministers from an official assignment to Dubai with President Tinubu. The minister reportedly replaced them with her name and further influenced the CoS for deployment to a more lucrative ministry, possibly Trade and Investment.

The Coalition of Civil Society Groups emphasized the potential threat posed by the female minister, considering her overbearing attitude and the murky marital status of the beauty pageant minister in question. The group warned that if unchecked by President Tinubu, the minister's actions could lead Nigerians to question the sincerity of the current administration. The records cited by the group suggest a history of the minister allegedly causing harm to men close to her in her pursuit of power. The group concluded by urging both Mr. President and the First Lady to exercise caution regarding this minister's actions, stating that failure to address the situation early could have serious implications for the administration's credibility.

"She forces herself to be seen with Mr. President to use it for the manipulation of the villa boys and positions; she switched her name with someone else on the Dubai list through the office of the CoS

"Both Mr. President and the First Lady should tread with a lot of caution as far as this lady who is ready to do anything to achieve her evil intention is concerned.

“Records have it that she has ruined a lot of men that were unluckily close to her in her quest for power.

“This is one Minister that if not checked early by Mr. President will surely cause Nigerians to look inwards about the sincerity of purpose of this present administration”, they said.

Politics / Kogi Civil And Peace Consultative Forum Disapproves Of Sdp's Hasty Accusations by ovamalik: 11:06am On Dec 01, 2023
The Kogi Civil and Peace Consultative Forum (KCPC), a non-political organization led by Comrade Attah Mohammed Idakwoji, strongly disapproves of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for hastily assuming that the attackers on the Independent National Electorial Commission (INEC) Resident Commissioner were thugs loyal to Governor Yahaya Bello. The disapproval was expressed during a media address in Lokoja earlier today.

KCPC raised concerns that SDP might have connections to the attack on INEC officials in the state, leading them to consistently accuse the government or the All Progressives Congress (APC). The group emphasizes the importance of allowing security agencies to conduct a proper investigation to identify the perpetrators, rather than making baseless accusations that tarnish the image of the government, the police and the State at Large.

While addressing the media, Comrade Attah Mohammed stressed the need for responsible statements, urging SDP to refrain from laying false accusations and instead cooperate with the ongoing investigation. KCPC emphasizes the significance of due process and unbiased investigations to ensure justice is served.

In response to the SDP's press release, KCPC asserts the importance of restraint and caution in attributing blame before a thorough investigation is conducted. The group calls for a unified effort to uncover the truth behind the attack on the INEC Resident Commissioner, promoting transparency and accountability in the electoral process.

MR. Idakwoji urged all parties to be peaceful and cohabit harmoniously as the State is known for peace in last few years and Election should not paint the State in a bad Light.

Signed,
Comrade Attah Mohammed Idakwoji
Leader, Kogi Civil and Peace Consultative Forum (KCPC)

Kogi Guber: Result Allegedly Manipulated by SDP in Kogi East Surfaced

In the aftermath of the November 11th gubernatorial election in Kogi State, where the All Progressives Congress candidate, Ahead Usman Ododo, emerged as the winner, signs of result manipulation in favor of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi East continue to surface.

One such allegedly manipulated result came to light on Thursday. The result sheet from Open Space Ofe Aya polling unit in Anyigba, Dekina Local Government, revealed discrepancies. The officially recorded number of accredited voters, as captured by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) BVAs and uploaded on the IREV, was 153. However, surprisingly, the votes cast totaled about 395. According to the forged sheet, SDP purportedly garnered 373 votes, while the APC secured only 17.

These irregularities in the result sheet further lend weight to accusations from Sen Dino Melaye of the People's Democratic Party suggesting that the governorship election was significantly manipulated in Kogi East, favoring Muritala Ajaka of the SDP, who predominantly campaigned on a tribal agenda rather than A Kogi Agenda

Politics / Between Muri And Bello: What The Masses Ought To Know by ovamalik: 8:38pm On Oct 28, 2023
Have you ever wondered why Muritala Ajaka has never sued Yahaya Bello in court despite the numerous attacks allegedly melted on him by Yahaya Bello? Why would someone continue to attack me without claiming my rights?

Months ago, the Social Democratic Party Campaign Office in Lokoja was set ablaze by hoodlums believed to be acting at the pleasure of the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

A lot of people were miffed by the assault on democracy, but only a few were surprised. This is because this attack is just one of many, and there has been a consistent onslaught on the person of Murtala Ajaka, the SDP flagbearer for the 2023 Kogi gubernatorial elections, and his perceived supporters.

On June 3rd, Yahaya Bello’s convoy blocked that of Murtala at Lokoja Highway, and Murtala only escaped by the whiskers. Both parties made conflicting press statements.

In a previous development, Kabir Owo Bala, alias Okwo Ejule, was extrajudicially killed by armed forces acting on the directive of the state governor, Yahaya Bello. Prior to his death, Okwo was an APC chieftain and stalwart who Bello granted a pardon from prison in 2018 and used to perpetrate electoral violence in the 2019 Kogi elections.

Murtala, Bello, and Okwo were all APC members and committed heinous crimes against the state together. However, Okwo and Bello fell apart after the latter endorsed Usman Ododo of the APC for governorship.

Okwo, who was more keen on an Igala candidate, shifted his political allegiance from Bello’s APC to Murtala Ajaka of the SDP, and many widely believe this was chiefly the reason Bello ordered his death. As we speak, many Igala youths are killing each other in the name of support for Muri and Bello. No political ambition is worth the life of any Igala youth.

One becomes very curious as to why only Murtala Ajaka and his perceived loyalists are consistently in the governor’s bad books when, in fact, there are well over four governorship aspirants in the state.

It becomes more puzzling when you understand that just a few months ago, the Kogi state governor and Murtala Ajaka were allies, and the latter was a frequent visitor to the home of the former. In fact, both take decisions on how local government allocations are shared. This never went well with Simon Achuba, the former deputy governor to Bello, and Edward Onoja, the then COS and now deputy governor.

The relationship between Bello and Murtala dates back years. In the 2019 gubernatorial elections, Murtala Ajaka was the instrument that Yahaya Bello used to disqualify and frustrate Igala contestants in the APC. Prominent among those that were disqualified are the late Seidu Oga, General Akpa, Hassan Bewa, Yakubu Muhammad, Tim Diche, and Admiral Jibrin Usman.

Another notable Igala person Murtala worked against is Hajiya Bewa. The APC National Working Committee asked Murtala to get the CV of Bewa, but he lied to the NWC that he had contacted the woman and she wasn’t interested, when in fact, he didn’t contact her.

It is also noteworthy to understand that Murtala and Bello conspired to plunge the local governments in Kogi State into debt and financial crises to raise funds for Bello’s presidential bid.

During the APC primaries, Bello and Murtala played the religious card against Edward Onoja and aided his failure.
Given these facts, many might find it difficult to understand the frosty relationship between the duo in recent times.

The cosy relationship between Yahaya Bello and Murtala Ajaka started to turn sour during the buildup to the APC Presidential Primary elections, when Bello approached Murtala, who was then the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Party, on how to lobby members of the NWC and secure their support for his ambition.

Murtala was alleged to have demanded twenty billion naira for the task. An amount Bello sourced by forcing the local governments through the then Auditor General of Local Government, now APC Governorship candidate Ahmed Usman Ododo, to take development loans amounted to N21 billion, from which he graciously gave Murtala the agreed sum.

The fallout started when Bello found out a fortnight before the elections that Murtala never shared the money with the NWC members as agreed.

Things became worse after Murtala bought 46 vehicles in his name instead of Bello's and distributed them to APC Ward chairmen in the state to support the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign in Kogi State and fan the flames of his popularity.
Several communities benefited from the largess of Murtala as he went around doling money to those who cared to receive it. Bello, who felt Murtala was getting undue attention and support by spending his (Bello’s) money, became agitated and started demanding his money. The actual rift between the good friends and partners in crime started when Murtala couldn’t refund Bello the money. The onslaughts on Murtala by Bello are therefore a result of these unfolding secrets.

As the election draws near and investigations about the candidates deepen, it has been uncovered that Murtala Ajaka secured his position at the APC NWC using forged certificates and had to decamp from the party not only because he couldn’t secure the party’s governorship ticket but also because his disgrace from office was imminent.

Several questions have been raised regarding Murtala’s integrity, the source of his income, his qualifications, and his antecedents.

Shocking emerging facts reveal that Murtala fraudulently collected money from several APC presidential aspirants in the name of the Yobe state governor and his former boss, Mai Bala Buni, putting serious scars on their relationship.

In Lagos State, when Ambode had a rift with Tinubu and other APC leaders in the state, Murtala was alleged to have approached Ambode and demanded seven hundred million (# 700, 000, 000) to help the latter secure his second term ticket. He allegedly got the money but never delivered it.

As controversies around Social Democratic Party candidate Murtala Ajaka deepen, he has continued to lose widespread support across the state from both individuals, politicians, and top traditional rulers.

In Kogi State today, there is a tone-deaf, highhanded Governor Yahaya Bello who is ruthlessly committed to installing his brother and political protegee as governor to cover all his malfeasances in office.
And then Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, a former ally of Bello and partner with Bello in the many crimes and atrocities committed against Kogi State and her people, now deceitfully presents himself as a saint in the garb of a redeemer.
Murtala’s personality and numerous activities can best be described as dubious, mischievous, criminal, and misleading.

As the race for the governorship race in Kogi becomes intense with the new facts and emerging realities, the people of Kogi State have begun to search for credible candidates with good antecedents and a proven track record who will inherit their votes on November 11th and salvage Kogi State from the doldrums.

Politics / Muri/abenemi And The Dilemma Of Certificate Forgery: A Warning To Kogi Voters by ovamalik: 10:04pm On Oct 12, 2023
In a legal battle drawn by the Democratic People's Party (DPP), the Social Democratic Party deputy governor candidate was accused of result falsification. That seems like a coincidence in the camp of the SDP and a common denominator, as both the party flag bearer, Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, and his deputy governor candidate are alleged to be wearing a common badge, leading to the likely disqualification of the joint ticket. This situation seems to be giving the Kogi, particularly Igala voters a stern warning signal.

Not long ago, Hon. Muritala Yakubu Ajaka was directly accused of certificate forgery following the decision of the famous Barewa College to testify to his not being a student of the college in the WAEC records of the academic institution. Till date, there has been no clear denial in refutation of the allegation, leaving the people in confusion.

Curiously, the deputy SDP party candidate, Hon. Samuel Tanti Abenemi, has been accused of certificate forgery on a similar ordinary-level GCE certificate, thereby putting the party ticket in trouble. Needless to say, the dust raised by the allegation against Muritala Yakubu Ajaka and his WAEC certificate has yet to settle.

The lawsuit, which was filed at the High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, alleges that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) provided false information on Form EC9, a critical document in the electoral process. According to the DPP, it claimed that Hon. Abenemi Samuel Tanti misrepresented his academic qualifications by attaching a forged GCE result with serial number 14709101, allegedly obtained in December 1979. The outcome of the lawsuit could have significant implications for his political career and the SDP's prospects in the upcoming election on November 11, 2023.

The crux of the matter revolves around the alleged forgery of academic credentials, which is a serious offence under Nigerian law. The lawsuit cites Section 158(2) of the Penal Code, which specifies the punishment for such an offense. The case is fixed for Friday, October 13, 2023. Section 158(2) of the Penal Code states:
"Any person who, with intent to deceive or defraud, falsely makes, alters, forges, or counterfeits any document or writing capable of being used to signify any matter or thing, or who makes use of any such document or writing, knowing the same to be false, with intent to defraud, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven (7) years or with a fine or with both".

Muritala Yakubu Ajaka has yet to publicly respond to these allegations, as weighty as they sound. Citizens are divided in their opinions on the matter. More alarming and surprising is the fact that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has yet to issue an official statement regarding the allegations and the impending lawsuit.

The legal proceedings are expected to be closely monitored by political observers and the general public, who are not only anxious but curious, as the matter has the potential to impact the outcome of the gubernatorial election of November 11.

As the legal battle unfolds at the High Court in Lokoja, questions about the authenticity of academic credentials and the credibility of the SDP's candidates and campaign will likely be the focus of discussions among the people and electorates of Kogi State. The lawsuit also serves as a reminder of the importance of transparency and accuracy in the electoral process and underscores the consequences of alleged misrepresentation by political candidates.

In recent years, INEC has been tasked with ensuring that the electoral process remains fair and impartial as it investigates the allegations against the SDP party. It is obvious that Muritala Yakubu Ajaka will not be on the ballot, judging from the discrepancies witnessed on the certificates submitted by the SDP party governorship candidate. From all indications, the issue of certificate forgery has become a recurring decimal, as both Muritala Yakubu Ajaka and Sam Ranti Abenemi edged closer to disqualification. The disqualification of their joint ticket seems inevitable, as it is arduous to ignore the potential legal consequences and ethical dilemma that stem from two candidates entangled in certificate forgery controversies.

Knowing that Muri and his running mate will face this imminent disqualification, the people of the Kogi East who are undeniably the majority must be careful at this point and be decisive in their political alliance else, they are pushed to the back seat in the November 11th election when the forerunner of the 'Anya-aduga' mantral is eventually forced out of the race in the days ahead.

Political analysts have already started bearing their minds on the situation on ground, making this expository pertinent for Kogi voters. Let the people be aware now and let them realign with any impeccable candidate from the region with the capacity to champion their course. Anything short of this, Kogi voters believing in SDP will frustrate the chances of a competent person retaking power because they will not have a candidate to vote for.

Politics / ICDA National President Reportedly Apologize To Igalas For Endorsing Muri by ovamalik: 3:54pm On Sep 15, 2023
Report has started making the round that the National President of the Igala Cultural Development Association (ICDA), Sadiq Ahmodu Abubakar has apologized to the entire Igala nation for being part of the fraction of the association that endorsed Muritala Yakubu Ajaka as the consensus candidate of the Igalas ahead of the Kogi State 2023 Governorship election.

The apologize is said to be contained in a letter from him seen on the social media.

The letter states:

"PRESS RELEASE

Beloved Igala Nation

The past few days have not been easy for me and my executives over our hasty decision to endorse Muritala Yakubu Ajaka of the SDP as the consensus candidate of the Igala extraction. On behalf of my exco members, we apologise to the Attah of Igala and the entire Igala Nation for that erroneous move. Though our action was not in any way a product of desperation, we have revisited it and decided to give it some thought and retrace our steps.

Our reason for making a U-turn on our earlier decision is premised on the political permutations in our state and region in particular. First, we must accept the fact that equity must come into play in our politics.

Recently, the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, graciously appointed one of our sons from Idah Federal Constituency as a minister. This positive development has automatically settled the Idah Federal Constituency in the ongoing dispensation.

Again, we are shocked by the recent court judgement that has bewildered the victory of our brother, Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho, where the court dismissed his election and ordered a rerun between him and Dr. Victor Adoji. The implication of this development is that, if Dr. Victor Adoji wins the rerun, Dekina Local Government Area will be stripped naked. Both Adoji and the new minister are from Idah Federal Constituency. This calls for a rethink and restructuring in order to pave the way for equity.

On a historical note, Ankpa Federal Constituency has enjoyed nine (9) good years of governorship under Ibrahim Idris (Ibro). Captain Wada only served for just four (4) years before Prince Abubakar Audu won his second term in 2015 before he was called to the grate beyond, and his victory was transmitted to the present occupant of Lugard House. Note: Prince Abubakar Audu is also from Idah Federal Constituency.

I and my excos have also realised that in seeking the unity and progress of the state, we ought to be politically all-inclusive, irrespective of our tribe and political regions. To this end, we have, as a matter of necessity, revoked the endorsement of Muritala Yakubu Ajaka of the SDP, and we regret our inconsiderate action of towing towards the regional agenda, the so-called Igala Agenda. It is our resolve to encourage all Kogites to embark on the Kogi State Unity Agenda. We cannot afford to work against each other in the state and expect collective progress.

We have pledged to use this period to search for that one candidate who has the capacity, all-inclusive spread, and experience to become the governor of the state. We sincerely believe that such a candidate will bring about unity, peace, progress, and human capital development. This should be our collective resolve as a state.

Finally, we want to convince all Kogites that this is not the time for sentiment or emotion. This is not the time for personal interest. This is the time to speak with one voice. Indeed, Kogi State deserves a good government through active and deliberate representation up to the federal level.

God bless the good people of Kogi State. God bless and protect the Igala Nation. Thank you so much.

Sadiq Ahmodu Abubakar
National President
ICDA."
Politics / Apc And The Porosity Of The Rewarding Mechanism by ovamalik: 5:27pm On Aug 04, 2023
I have been keenly following the activities of the All Progressives Congress since the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to see if he is going to right the wrong of lopsidedness in the reward mechanism of the party.

But I was disappointed with the wrong selection of the nomination from my dear State, Kogi State, no one can argue with the fact that the Late Prince Abubakar Audu deserves to be rewarded for all his effort in bringing APC to Kogi State but my argument is that the right Audu should be picked.

The late Prince has a daughter Maimuna Audu who is a business woman and astute legal practitioner who handled most of his businesses when he was alive.

He also has a son Mustapha Audu who has been played an integral role in the APC right from the formation before the late Prince demise.

The Igalas are at a crossroad at the moment and very unhappy with the APC after the just concluded gubernatorial primaries it is imperative that we have the right leadership at the National level.

I am very curious as to how and why the party decided to selected Shuaib Audu, simply because the Late Prince Audu has offsprings that a better suited to help elevate the Igalas . I am of the opinion that Shuaib was deliberately selected because he is seen as the weaker politician less of a threat to the Ebiras that have decided to hold the state to ransom.

I believe Mustapha is more like his father dogged and principled and he has earned his stripes politically too, standing on the side of the people.

The Igalas have already made up their mind not to vote the APC in the upcoming elections and this ministerial appointment may further solidify that decision. Some of us were almost killed in 2014, 2015 because of the APC and it is very painful to see that when we finally get a chance of representation at the National, the Audu Political family and critical Igala stakeholders were not even consulted.

All of Audu’s children are our children but we know who will represent us better.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu promised to bring fresh ideas for renewed hope which everyone believes would reflect from his selection of Ministers by ensuring fairness, equity, and justice, how then can the President only defer to our oppressor to pick on our behalf?

If APC does not correct these ills I don’t see the party retaining the state in the upcoming elections.

Crime / Natasha Akpoti Accused Of Using Soldiers To Intimidate Voters In Kogi Central by ovamalik: 9:43pm On Mar 17, 2023

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zollkGGxaXs

Recently, a disturbing video has surfaced on social media showing the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) Kogi Central Senatorial Candidate, Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan, purportedly intimidating voters with the help of military men during the just concluded senatorial elections in the region. The footage, which has since gone viral on YouTube and other platforms, has sparked outrage and condemnation from various quarters.

According to eyewitnesses, Natasha and her accomplices, who were dressed in military uniforms, allegedly stormed a polling unit and disrupted the voting process by intimidating voters and causing chaos. The video footage shows Natasha and her supporters brandishing weapons and shouting at voters to vote for her or face the consequences.

The incident has raised serious concerns about the state of Nigeria's electoral process and the role of security personnel in ensuring free and fair elections. It also highlights the need for political parties and their candidates to play by the rules and respect the sanctity of the ballot box.

Unfortunately, the PDP candidate, Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan, lost the election to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engineer Ohere. While this outcome may have been influenced by various factors, including voter apathy and the effectiveness of campaign strategies, it is important to note that the use of intimidation and violence in elections is unacceptable and must be condemned by all.

The Kogi Central Senatorial elections have once again brought to the fore the need for electoral reforms and greater accountability in the conduct of elections in Nigeria. It is hoped that the authorities will investigate this incident and take appropriate action against those responsible for violating the law and undermining the democratic process.

Crime / Isah Aliyu: Kogi Blogger Arrested On Natasha Akpoti's Reques Freed After 14 Days by ovamalik: 9:33pm On Mar 01, 2023
After spending 14 days in police custody, Isah Aliyu Amoto, a young blogger who was arrested for alleged criminal defamation of character against Bar Natasha H Akpoti-Uduaghan, has been freed. This news comes after several protests by the people of Kogi Central, who called on the 2023 senatorial candidate to release the boy.

According to reports, Isah Aliyu Amoto was arrested on the orders of a court for publishing an article that allegedly defamed the character of Bar Natasha H Akpoti-Uduaghan, a well-known figure in Kogi State. However, many members of the public believed that the arrest was unjust and called for the blogger's release.

The protests against the arrest gained momentum in the days leading up to the blogger's release, with many people expressing their dissatisfaction with the situation. The release of the blogger on Wednesday has been seen as a victory for the people of Kogi Central and a sign that justice has prevailed.

It is not yet clear what led to the decision to release the blogger, but many have speculated that the public pressure and protests played a significant role in his release. Some have also pointed out that the case highlights the need for stronger protections for free speech and press freedom in Nigeria.

The incident has also raised concerns about the use of criminal defamation laws to silence critical voices and the need for a more nuanced approach to balancing the right to freedom of expression with other rights such as the right to privacy and reputation.

As the dust settles on this incident, many are calling for a deeper reflection on the importance of protecting free speech and the press in Nigeria, as well as the need for a more transparent and accountable justice system.
