About JAMB CAPS. The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) is geared towards ensuring quality control, transparency and credibility of the admission process. CAPS is expected to make provision for a ‘market place’ in the JAMB portal where institutions can go and ‘request for students in Nigeria who score their cut off points.’ The system is such that institutions can only admit those who meet their cut off points. If a candidate fails to meet the cut off mark, that student would certainly be denied admission irrespective of the candidate’s connection.
HOW TO CHECK ADMISSION STATUS ON CAPS. You can follow the pictures as well
1. Go to Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal at http://www.jamb.org.ng/efacility/. Login with your e-mail address and the password you registered during your JAMB Registration. E.g mufutau@gmail.com and your password too.
2.Then locate and click on ‘ CHECK 2018 UTME/DE ADMISSION STATUS ON CAPS ‘.
3. It'll bring a page which says " WELCOME" (A) Now if you're using Chrome, Puffin, FireFox and etc. Just click on your option button as indicated in picture and click on "REQUEST FOR DESKTOP SITE" or "DESKTOP SITE". It will open another page, kindly click on " ADMISSION STATUS". it'll bring another and finally click on "SEARCH". (B) if you're using Operamini, you reach stage 3 which displays " WELCOME". Edit your URL and locate "default" in your link. Clear only "default" and replace it with "candidateadmission" then reload your browser by clicking on Go or circle button. It'll display new page and finally click on "SEARCH".
You must understand this terms when you scroll down to check your admission status. Once you are on your JAMB CAPS page, the important thing you should look out for is what is written under “ADMISSION STATUS” If you have been offered an admission, what you will find under your ADMISSION STATUS is “CONGRATULATIONS, YOU HAVE BEEN OFFERED ADMISSION!”. You will equally see two buttons under it : “ACCEPT ADMISSION” and “REJECT ADMISSION”. You are expected to click on the appropriate button to either accept or reject the admission . Like JAMB said earlier, if you accept the admission, it means the admission window for 2018/2019 session has closed for you. If you reject the admission, you will be available in CAPS MARKET PLACE for other schools to consider you for admission. On the other hand, if your admission has not been approved yet, what you will find under your admission status is “NOT ADMITTED”, “ADMISSION IN PROGRESS” or “RECOMMENDED……” Now, “NOT ADMITTED” simply means two things; (a) that your school of choice has not sent or proposed any list of admitted candidates to JAMB. (b) It can equally mean that your school has sent in the list of admitted candidates but you have not been considered for admission. If your Admission status says NOT ADMITTED, you can check back later to see if there are any changes especially if your school of choice has not released its admission list (either on its website or Notice Board) when you first checked JAMB CAPS. “ADMISSION IN PROGRESS” is likely to mean that you have met the requirements to be admitted in your school of choice, but for certain reasons like Admission Quota and other admission criteria of your school of choice, your admission is still pending. Candidates in this category may be offered admission later if other candidates offered admission by the school decides to reject their admission thereby creating room for more admission slots. “RECOMMENDED” means that you have been considered for admission but your admission is still under review to ensure you meet all admission criteria set by your institution and JAMB.
Take note of these instruction 1. Don't click on REJECT or ACCEPT when your admission status displays "NOT ADMITTED". Don't ask me the repercussion 2. You're given 72 hours to accept or reject admission. After 72hours, your admission is out. Therefore check your CAPS everyday or after 2 days. 3. Admission on CAPS is department by department and faculty by faculty. Link yourself with your course mates so that they can feed you with changes on their CAPS.

Ademola47: Pm Edulanders, With regards to the leaked cut off mark, I had 55.125 as my aggregate and am going l l laboratory science. It is obvious my mark can't reach its requirements. My Dad then called a lecturer in Ui, who advised I change to either of: Chemistry, statistics, Forest Resources, Wildlife and ecotourism, Agricultural science, etc.
But my question is as follows: 1. If I go ahead and study any of the following courses, what's my chance of securing a job after graduation and subsequently making it in life. 2. After taking it up, can I still change to any medical course? 3. WilI be happy studying it?
And to the bosses in the medical college... 4. Do you feel superior to your colleagues who changed to a less competitive course along the way 5. like how many attempt(s) do you make before getting Medicine and its related field as a course. 6. Will you advise I take it up like that or wait till next year?

To add to what iles199 has posted I will answer ur question 1 by 1 1. Anyone can make it in life whether u go to school or not.Or whether u study any particular course or not. It boils down to ur attitude. Set a goal and standard for urself work towards it diligently u will be on the track of success. Putting connection aside, Ur chance of securing job depends firstly on your attitude. I have come across 2.2 2.1 and third class graduates who secured jobs for themselves due to their fighting spirit, personal skills and characters. So personal development is required. Secondly it depends on ur grade when u grad. A first class graduate has a higher chance and more opportunities than a 2.1 graduate. A 2.1 has a higher chance and opportunities than a 2.2 graduate. Provided they can proof their worth with their personal characters and skills. I advice u to aim for a first class or at least a 2.2 if u take up other course. 2. After taking any of the course u mentioned up u can still change to any medical course but I know that if it is possible it is very difficult to do so in ui. 3. Most people gradually and eventually fall in love with the course they changed to and some do thank God for not giving them the course they initially wanted. They later realized that is where their strength and/or passion lies. U will be happy studying it when u began to find real life applications of ur course. Am not yet in the medical college but I sha made it this year. 4. Remove superiority from ur mindset. No course on earth is superior to another. Some are just challenging and harder. They all serve different functions and work together to achieve a common goal. None can work effectively without others. If u meet any practicing doctor u can ask him/her this. The doctors (practicing doctors) I have come across are very nice (most especially the female ones) it still amaze me how they keep their passion burning considering the challenges they face. I have once met a rude doctor (practicing doctor) but nonetheless everyone is different and no one is perfect. Any doctor who feels superior to another is probably having a personal issue. 5. Mine was 5 attempts and all are solely my faults. But I never wasted my time during these periods. I once attended a A level program. The most important thing is not to waste ur time cos even jamb can be unpredictable. U can go to other tertiary institutions or polytechnic and during this period still attempt jamb again. My first and second attempt was due to my in experience and ineffective time management and I was just two and thee marks away respectively. I overcame this ineffective time management by answering past questions under exam conditions almost every day. My third attempt was due to prof. Dibu for cancelling pume. My fourth attempt was due to lack of dedication. I never knew that to get MBBS thorough dedication and perseverance, with hardwork, smart work and sacrifice are required. On one year, I prepared for jamb for only 2 weeks and still scored 256. Last year I used just 1 week to prepare and I scored 286. I always had this taught that if I get to the exam hall I will know what to do without having to prepare thoroughly and well before hand. U can see that I was never dedicated. I managed to get aggregate of 70.125 but the cutoff rose to 80 something. I learnt that MBBS cutoff can be unpredictable. This year was my first ui post utme attempt. I forgave myself of all my past mistakes and started preparing since November and never slowed down except that world cup month that distracted me a little bit. I even did jamb mock exam so that I can predict the real jamb score I would get 6. I will advice u to look within u and measure ur academic strength and weaknesses if u will be able to achieve a aggregate of at least 80% (MBBS cutoff can be unpredictable) to be safe. If u can't then take the course like that don't waste ur time. While u take up that course u can always still pursue and achieve ur dream course provided ur passion is still burning and u are willing to be dedicated.

If ur aggregate is the cutoff u are definitely secured. U may not necessarily be the last person because other candidates can as well have the same cutoff as yours. U guys will be considered the lucky ones

Sorry I taught it was 0.25 mark away. I just saw that the ELDS cutoff for dentistry is 68.75 U have to still stay strong and be hopeful anything is possible
The cutoffs seen for now are the merit cutoffs, I don't know about the ELDS cutoffs yet. The ELDS cutoffs will be available when the cutoffs marks list is officially released from the ui website. What u can do for now is to pray and be hopeful U are 0.25 mark from the merit cutoff so u still have a chance
Some 25 things/secrets about successful MBBS aspirants and students
1. So many people told them to give up but they never listened to them. Most have had series of failures.
2.They know that to gain admission 99% very very very very hard and smart work is required and 1% luck which is the grace of God. They know that this 1% luck (grace of God) is what can separate them from myriads of brilliant and intelligent aspirants otherwise their their very very very very hard and smart work *may* be futile.
3. They never take any exam for granted be it waec jamb or post ume by ensuring they attain excellence with a very very high score as much as possible . 4. They also prepare for exams even during a festive day like Christmas, Easter, and Salah etc.
5. They have unexplainable passion for the course and this is their driving force. 6. They know their academic strength and weaknesses and don't go beyond their limits on that very moment they are writing their exam. Example, if they attempt a question and do not get it they move to the next question rather than trying to forcefully solve a question they don't know or can't solve.
7. They know how importance is seeking experience and seeking knowledge on how a particular exam will be before writing the exam themselves.
8. They know their academic limits. If a school is more competitive than another and they know they can't compete they go for a less competive accredited school where its safer and surer to gain admission. After all you receive the same mbbs degree as others.
9. They don't underestimate anyone no matter how young or how old. They know that everyone has equal chance of gaining admission provided if the person has seek experience or has experience in the game. More so, they know some people will be naturally lucky.
10. They don't ignore any information even trivial ones in the syllabus or textbook cos they know that the trivial information can decide their getting admission that year or not. They know how precious is 1 jamb or post jamb mark or even 0.001 aggregate mark.
11. They start preparations early and gave their all to studying whether in tears, sweat, blood and money.
12. They have shed tears when they failed to beat cutoff, and during the course of their preparations they have wept secretly when they were alone.
13. They seek group chat, threads or tutorials for positive competitive atmosphere and to step up their game.
14. They know that for most people their eventual success was a series of failures that led to the road of success.
15. They can feel the pains of those who didn't make the MBBS cutoff because they have been there before. They have empathy.
16. They were always hopeful, never envied those who made it believing that one day their time will come.
17. Some have had to hustle hard to pay for their exam fees, materials, and other things necessary for their success in the exam.
18. They have solved lots of past questions and learned from their mistakes . 19. They have the appropriate past questions and textbooks.
20. They know that there is unpredictability in cutoffs it can go from 70 to 80something. With this they prepare as much as possible to reach cutoff from 80% to be safe. Cos they know MBBS aspirants are highly intelligent and u (reading this piece) is one of them . remember everyone has equal chance it boils down to ur experience, academic strength, luck (grace of God).
21.They have open mind and prepare their mind for the unexpected not to be taken aback in exams.
22. They know that there is something called luck but they *DON'T* depend on it. Because it risk their chances of gaining MBBS admission. By this I mean that during preparations, they don't hope that in the exam hall they would guess any question this makes them work harder, study smarter, ask God for guidance during reading, master their text books and solve & learn from all questions they failed in the past questions. During the exam, they can guess the answer but they try as much as possible during their preparations to prevent guessing answers or minimize the answers they would guess as much as possible in the exam. They don't take anything by chance.
Luck in this case is a gift from God the fact that u worked hard doesn't mean He will give it to u. He can give it to anyone. U see those guys who scored 88, 89, and 90 had this luck. They must have guessed at least 5 answers correctly or even guess 4 correct answers out of 5 to reach that score (88%89%, and 90%) when others will have guessed those 5 questions and fail all or manage to score 1. U see this is when God's grace comes into play.
Pray for luck but never do the mistake of hoping in luck when seeking MBBS admission. Everything is in ur control not in fate. Do your part and let God do His.
23. They also have this secret that post jamb score has a higher value than jamb score. They will never tell u this. So even if they score very high in jamb they make sure that they score even higher in post jamb. Because someone who scored less in jamb may score higher in post jamb and beat them in aggregate. Consider this scores 310 jamb + 70 pume aggregate 73.75 Consider this also 300 jamb + 80 pume aggregate 77.5 So u can see they never joke with post utme exam in as much as they don't joke with jamb. Remember a very high jamb score is the foundation for success but if u don't score high in jamb never give up, give ur best shot in pume.
24. They know their success was from God alone and not by their smartness or hardwork.
25. They know it was not yet time to quit they gave in their all holding these three words quote "never give up". Don't give up on your dreams God has the best plan for u and u will naturally know when it's time to quit but the characters u have developed through the years will forever be with u.

This is seriously what I never espected...I have never even given a thought to failure all this while...All my struggles,sleepless nights(studying),prayers,mindset and even the very air I breathe everyday of my preparations were all channelled towards SUCCESS . Imagine,I was so convinced that I will get admission to study MEDICINE this year that I have bought my school bag and some other things.
When my JAMB results were released this year(2018),I was very happy and elated when I saw 303 as my score.I continued to study and prepare for the UI PostUTME with zest.When the results were released, I saw 73 as my PostUTME score and 74.375% as my aggregate score.I was sad and worried because my target score is not less than 90. When I remembered that UI cutoff mark for medicine last year(2017) was 71.88% , I kept my fire of hope burning...but not without serious prayers and fasting.
Now,the cutoff mark for medicine this year has been pegged at 76.5%, and as you can see, I am just like 3 marks away from the cutoff mark.Since yesterday when I saw the cutoff marks,I have not been able to sleep.It is very very painful.
But friends,I am not here to ask you to pity me...no no no....This is my 4th failure since I started to pursue MEDICINE and I have learnt to brace up and struggle harder after each failure,....No matter what people will say..... I am writing this to seek counsel and sincere directions on my next line of action because I believe that a problem shared is half solved.Now,my questions are :
1) Since my score is high enough to get another course, I am thinking of doing a COC to courses that will allow me cross to medicine in year two like biochemistry,human Nutrition and physiology....but I heard that those courses are not advertised on the COC.....Is it true ?
2) What other courses can I go for apart from the aforementioned ones ?
3) If after accepting any other course, can I stay in the university(UI) and write JAMB and PostUTME again in the same UI in 2019? .... Can I abandon my present course then and accept admission to study medicine in the same University of Ibadan?
4) If I should decide not to accept any admission UI will offer me whatsoever(because my passion is seriously tied to medicine), do you think (from experience) that I will be able to study well if I get a job and come back for jamb next year?...The job will take like 8hours of my time everyday.I cannot just stay at home studying for a whole year idle...an besides nobody is willing again to give me any money for anything until I enter school,not even for jamb....because my people have given up on me.
5) Also on the Job issue,I am planning to buy a laptop and an android phone from my savings,but I am thinking of how I can convert it into a good source of income. Successive governments in Nigeria have blamed the complexity of the country for their failure in office and some even argued that Nigeria is a difficult country to govern.
However, this piece is not to debate whether or not, Nigeria is a difficult country to govern since every country has their own peculiar difficulties, the focus is to proffer workable solutions that if implemented can set the nation on the path of progress.
To my understanding, any visionary leadership can fix Nigeria in just 72 hours and position the country for greatness.
By fixing Nigeria, I do not mean a sudden transformation from third world to first world.
What I mean is simply to create a structure for progress by building and empowering all citizens to directly or indirectly be part of the nation building process and putting the right people in the right place, to drive the right policies with the required vigor at the right time and create an institutional culture that cannot be reversed.
Without boring you with so much intellectual analysis and academic jargons, let us go straight to the issues that matter and how to fix Nigeria within 72hours.
We must recognize that people, whose tribal and family members were cruelly murdered in the first coup, counter coup, pogrom and civil war are still hurting.
They are all front line victims still hurting from the pains of the past.
Nigeria as a country should offer specific apology and relief to these set of victims and a national apology to all Nigerians, who may have been directly or indirectly affected by these unfortunate incidents.
This singular action will begin the process of leading Nigeria to civil peace.
This action is very important because, it is the first primary duty of Nigeria as a country to protect every citizen from harm, even against themselves and the country failed in that regard.
Nigeria’s greatest challenge is the disconnection between the people and its government.
The people lack outright understanding that they own the government and could dictate what must be done. This disconnection has made them lack patriotism in the sense that, they do not take ownership of government resources, assets, policies and vision.
Prioritize public information, re-orientation and sensitization through constant engagement for educational purpose on key citizenship concept.
The leader must educate the people to be able to socially mobilize them for joint policy implementation and to instil mass patriotism.
Economic marginalization, extra judicial killings, security high handedness and lack of access to justice had given birth to regional and community terror gangs such as militants, insurgents etc.
Offer sincere apology to all victims and their community.
Offer sincere amnesty to all combatants and demonstrate willingness for true national healing by having open and sincere dialogue about the cause of the problem and give room for joint problem solving. De-militarize, De-mobilize and reintegrate.
The court is not a place for dispute resolution; it is a place for judgement pronouncement.
And in most cases, judgement is only pronounced in favour of the most intelligent speaker, but only the rich can hire the best speakers.
In addition to this, the slow justice system is a major problem, apart from the excessive concentration on technicalities, thereby loosing the essence of the justice system.
The worst alternative dispute resolution is still a little better than the best court judgement because, ADR does not only resolve the dispute, it unites the conflicting parties.
Center for alternative dispute resolution should therefore be given greater priority in our quest for peace.
ADR centers should be established across all local government areas of Nigeria and empowered with adequate resources to function properly.
The court should be encouraged mostly to handle criminal matters, while ADR centers handle civil matters.
Religion/ethnic sentiment is the order in Nigeria rather than the exception.
This vice drives our politics, policies and conduct in every sphere of life.
Hardly can any policy be discussed without an element of ethnic and religious sentiment.
From Central Bank money printing, recruitment into civil service, security engagement and activities, foreign mission and even achievement of Nigerians in diaspora are all subjected to ethnic/religious interpretation.
If we don’t want the populace to continue to draw wrong ethnic/religion interpretation from our everyday issue, we must give them something else to draw interpretation from by shaping their sentiments with more free thoughts that disrupt their preconceived thoughts.
As we all know, sentiment is part of life and a visionary leadership will understand how to exploit the ethnic and religious sentiment of all sections of its citizens for positive advancement of their interest.

Correction of astigmatism the answer is cylindrical lens curved on one side
Longest bone in the human body is femur not vertebrae column .Unfortunately I failed this question it is tricky considering the fact that the whole bones in the vertebrae column is longer than a single femur bone. But the question states longest *bone* (just a single bone) so automatically vertebrae column is out of the possible answers
There are so many questions like this but this is what I can remember Guys that nabbed 80 or 80+ aggregate provide tips for students to learn from and realize their mistakes there is no need in keeping all ur tactics u have already gained admission

For MBBS guys In my opinion and from the information above, the average post utme score within the range of 80-90 Will be less than 85 say, Worst come to worst the aggregate will certainly be less than 80% Let's wait for the release of official cutoff next week Monday that's after their concluding meeting this Friday.
scromatan: UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN 2018/2019 POST-UTME RESULTS AND PROCESSING OF ADMISSIONS You will recall that the Post-UTME Screening for the 2018/2019 Admission Exercise at the University of Ibadan held on Friday 14th September and Saturday 15th September, 2018. The conduct of the screening has been adjudged to be quite outstanding by all the parties concerned including the candidates themselves, their parents and guardians. A total of 17,956 candidates sat for the screening. Out of these, 11,730 scored 50% and above, this representing 65.3% of the total number of candidates. For the avoidance of doubt, only those candidates who scored 50% and above are eligible for consideration for admission. The highest score at the Post-UTME screening was by Anyanwu Favour Chinazaekpere who obtained 90%, and is seeking admission into Communication and Language Arts. Other high scorers at the Post UTME include four candidates who scored 89% and five candidates who scored 88%.

The aggregate score for each candidate has since been computed and same communicated to the candidates on their admission portals. The next stage is for meetings of the Faculty Admissions Committee to be convened to select candidates for admission by setting the cut-off marks from the aggregate scores. The criteria for these include Merit, Catchment and Educationally-Less-Developed States. The meetings will hold from Wednesday, 26th September till Friday, 28th September, 2018. The list of admitted candidates will be published soon after.
While we appreciate the anxiety by the candidates and their parents and guardians, we strongly appeal to all our stakeholders to exercise a little more patience while the decisions of the various Admissions Committees would be communicated as soon as possible.
