Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, suspected billionaire kidnapper better known as Evans, has asked a Lagos state high court to grant him bail.

Evans is being tried on several counts of criminal charges bothering on alleged conspiracy, murder and kidnapping.

At the resumed sitting of his trial on Friday, he also asked the court to give his case an accelerated hearing.

His bail application was, however, opposed by the persecuting counsel who described it as an abuse of court process and an attempt to frustrate the trial.
Titilayo Shitta-Bay, Lagos state director of public prosecutions, said the application of the accused, as well as the prayer to quash the charges brought against him was conflicting and confusing.
After Evans pleaded “not guilty” on an amended two-count charge of conspiracy and kidnapping, the Lagos state government had filed fresh charges of conspiracy and attempted kidnap of Vincent Obianodo, chairman of The Young Shall Grow Motors.

A staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr. Christian Nwosu, has told a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos that he collected the sum of N30 million from the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke and spent it on logistics aimed at influencing the outcome of the 2015 general elections.

Mr Nwosu who was then the Kwara State Administrator of INEC gave this evidence while testifying in a “trial-within-trial”.

A trial-within-trial is conducted to test the voluntariness of confessional statements made by suspects during investigations.

The INEC staff is standing trial for allegedly conspiring with two other INEC officials to take a bribe of N264.8m from a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, to compromise the elections.

The offence was said to have been committed in March 2015.

At today’s proceedings, Mr Nwosu also disclosed that though he signed for the N264.8m, he only got N30m which he did not personally benefit from as it was shared out to the ad-hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission for logistics.

The EFCC had alleged that the N264.8m was part of a total sum of $115m which Mrs Allison-Madueke Diezani doled out to several individuals across the 36 states of the federation for the purpose of influencing the outcome of the elections in favour of the incumbent President at the time.

A Canadian doctor, Dr Jen Gunter, has urged women with ‘smelly vaginas’ to dump boyfriends, husbands, male partners with benefit who complain about the natural smell of their genitals.

According to Dr. Jen, a vagina should smell. It is a ‘form of abuse’ when men complain and women should not feel ashamed or feel they have to resort to buying harmful products that create artificial odours.

These harmful products, she says, upset the vagina’s natural pH balance and leave you at a greater risk of infections like gonorrhoea and even HIV.

Writing in her latest blog newsletter, the Canadian gynecologist revealed she once dumped a boyfriend for complaining about the smell of her genitals.
She wrote:

‘I once dated a guy who insinuated my vagina did not smell right. He was an a** in other ways too. For example, he thought my hair would be better if it were straight. Sadly I took the bait, it wasn’t.


‘He thought I would look better if I dressed a certain way. Again I took the bait. I just felt worse.
‘When it came around to telling me how my vagina could be better, it finally clicked that this is a form of control that men often use.
‘Fortunately I am an appropriately confident vagina expert and I had a light bulb moment and dumped his sorry a**.

An Ogba, Lagos landlord’s son and his married lover were found dead in a Toyota Corolla on Abisogun Leigh Street, behind the headquarters of the Area G Police Command, Ogba, Lagos on Sunday.

The man was found on the driver’s side, half-naked, with his penis slumped, while the woman, who wore a gown, reclined in the passenger seat next to him, Punch reported.

A tricycle rider who noticed that the headlamps of the car were on around 8.30am drew the attention of an executive member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to the car.

It was gathered that the executive member and the rider went to the scene, peeped into the car and observed that the lovers were motionless. They were said to have immediately alerted the police at the command.

The car was subsequently moved to the premises of the Area G Police Command while the corpses of the lovebirds were deposited in a morgue.

An NURTW member, Adewale Sofuyi, told PUNCH that he alerted policemen at the Area G Command to the incident.

“A tricycle rider approached me around 9 am. He said the headlamps of a Toyota Corolla by the roadside were on and that he had knocked at the car door without getting a response from the occupants,” he said.

“I followed him to the scene and confirmed what he said. The man wore a shirt only; he did not cover his private parts. The woman was in a gown. They were both in the front seats. The seat where the woman sat had been adjusted so that she reclined on it. From all indications, they had had sex with each other before their deaths.

The popular Brazilian competition, Miss Bumbum, has been rocked by scandal after six contestants were accused of cheating by using Robots, an online software to influence their votes.

Organisers confirmed on Monday that six finalists out the 15 well-endowed curvy contestants have docked 40,000 votes each "for the use of or attempted use of robots to interfere with the public vote."

This comes after the popular beauty pageant launched a probe following claims that some of the women had used computer software to influence thousands of online votes in a just a few hours.

The contestants include favourite for the title Rosie Oliveira, representing the jungle state of Amazonas, who came first in the public ballot with 149,404 votes.

Others involved in the cheating scandal include second-placed Pietra Maya, who got 148,547 votes, and third-placed Hellen Cristyan, who gained 144,736, including three others who have not yet been identified.

The scandal, which could see the women eliminated from the competition, has now thrown the pageant into confusion with just weeks to the final day of the contest, holding in Sao Paulo on November 6.
