I also wanted to use it on wise.com. it said "this merchant does not support this payment method"

For any merchandise that the Amex card doesn’t work but PayPal is allowed just connect your credit card to your PayPal account and then use your PayPal as medium of payment for that merchandise.
Did that for megabus and it worked.

Yes I get your point, but in my case it was more cost effective opt for that option even with using special delivery as the special delivery cost £65 than changing with with any physical delivery outlets due to the exorbitant rate.

Opt A
Exchange rate was £1 to $1.37 (As at then because it is determined by the official exchange rate)
$4000 = £2919 - £65 = £2854

Opt B( Physical Outlet)
Exchange rate goes around £1 to $1.45 to $1.5
$4000 = £2758 to £ 2667

In those scenario I discovered I could save more than £100 especially when the special delivery comes with insurance package of the money sent.

For the lady in question she can try to change a smaller amount of money to see if it works and then if it works then she can do the rest.

I was also skeptical about it too when I arrived and I did the same thing too by changing small amount of money to confirm if they were genuine before parting with a larger sum when they were genuine to me.
