The former Central Bank Governor, and Emir of kano His royal highness muhammadu Sanusi the second , surprised guests present at the Muson Centre for the launching of the book of Sir Olaniwun Ajayi. Below is his unedited speech. “Let me start by saying that I am Fulani (laughter). My grandfather was an Emir also fulani my uncle and guardian was also the immediate late Emir of kano Alhaji Ado Bayero and therefore I represent all that has been talked about this afternoon. Sir Ajayi has written a book. And like all Nigerians of his generation, he has written in the language of his generation. “My grandfather was a Northerner, I am a Nigerian. The problem with this country is that in 2009, we speak in the language of 1953. Sir Olaniwun can be forgiven for the way he spoke, but I cannot forgive people of my generation speaking in that language. “Let us go into this issue because there are so many myths that are being bandied around. Before colonialism, there was nothing like Northern Nigeria, Before the Sokoto Jihad, there was nothing like the Sokoto caliphate. The man from Kano regard himself as bakane. The man from Zaria was bazazzage. The man from Katsina was bakatsine. The kingdoms were at war with each other. They were Hausas, they were Muslims, they were killing each other. “The Yoruba were Ijebu, Owo, Ijesha, Akoko, Egba. When did they become one? When did the North become one? You have the Sokoto Caliphate that brought every person from Adamawa to Sokoto and said it is one kingdom. They now said it was a Muslim North. “The Colonialists came, put that together and said it is now called the Northern Nigeria. Do you know what happened? Our grand fathers were able to transform to being Northerners. We have not been able to transform to being Nigerians. The fault is ours. Tell me, how many governors has South West produced after Awolowo that are role models of leadership? How many governors has the East produced like Nnamdi Azikiwe that can be role models of leadership? How Many governors in the Niger Delta are role models of leadership? Tell me. There is no evidence statistically that any part of this country has produced good leaders. You talk about Babangida and the problems of our economy. Who were the people in charge of the economy during Babangida era? Olu Falae, Kalu Idika Kalu. What state are they from in the North? “We started the banking reform; the first thing I heard was that in Urobo land, there will be a curse of the ancestors. I said they (ancestors) would not answer. They said why? I said how many factories did Ibru build in Urobo land? So, why will the ancestors of the Urobo people support her? “We talk ethnicity when it pleases us. It is hypocrisy. You said elections were rigged in 1959, Obasanjo and Maurice Iwu rigged election in 2007. Was it a Southern thing? It was not. “The problem is: everywhere in this country, there is one Hausa, Ibo, Yoruba and Itshekiri man whose concern is how to get his hands on the pile and how much he can steal. Whether it is in the military or in the civilian government, they sit down, they eat together. In fact, the constitution says there must be a minister from every state. “So, anybody that is still preaching that the problem of Nigeria is Yoruba or Hausa or Fulani, he does not love Nigeria . The problem with Nigeria is that a group of people from each and every ethnic tribe is very selfish. The poverty that is found in Maiduguri is even worse than any poverty that you find in any part of the South. The British came for 60 years and Sir Ajayi talked about few numbers of graduates in the North (two as at independence) . What he did not say was that there was a documented policy of the British when they came that the Northerner should not be educated. It was documented. It was British colonial policy. I have the document. I have published articles on it. That if you educate the Northerner you will produce progressive Muslim intellectuals of the type we have in Egypt and India. So, do not educate them. It was documented. And you say they love us (North) more than the south. “I have spent the better part of my life to fight and Dr. (Reuben) Abati knows it. Yes, my grandfather was an Emir. Why was I in the pro-democracy movement fighting for June 12? Is (Moshood) Abiola from Kano ? Why am I a founding director of the Kudirat Initiative for Nigerian Development (KIND)? “There are good Yoruba people, good Igbo people, good Fulani people, good Nigerians and there are bad people everywhere. That is the truth. “Stop talking about dividing Nigeria because we are not the most populous country in the world. We have all the resources that make it easy to make one united great Nigeria . It is better if we are united than to divide it. “Every time you talk about division, when you restructure, do you know what will happen? In Delta Area, the people in Warri will say Agbor, you don’t have oil. When was the Niger Delta constructed as a political entity? Ten years ago, the Itshekiris were fighting the Urobos. Isn’t that what was happening? Now they have become Niger Delta because they have found oil. After, it will be, if you do not have oil in your village then you cannot share our resources. “There is no country in the world where resources are found in everybody’s hamlet. But people have leaders and they said if you have this geography and if we are one state, then we have a responsibility for making sure that the people who belong to this country have a good nature. “So, why don’t you talk about; we don’t have infrastructure, we don’t have education, we don’t have health. We are still talking about Fulani. Is it the Fulani cattle rearer or is anybody saying there is no poverty among the Fulani?”, he said. This is a great message to our generation.

Happy hijrah!!!!!!! When Quran was banned in Russia. In 1973 communism was at its peak in Russia, whole world was saying that sooner whole Asia will turn red. At that time a Pakistani Muslim went to Russia for training. This is his story He said that on Friday he asked his friends to get ready for Jumma prayer. They said Mosques are turned into storage in this country, few mosques are turned into motels for tourists, only one or two mosques in this city are kept as they were. Even they are close most of the times. I asked them to just guide me toward a mosque. When I reached there the mosque was closed. A person in neighborhood had its keys, I requested him to open its gate so that i can say my prayer. He : Okay i will open the gate for you but I'm not responsible if you will face any harm. Me : Brother! I was a Muslim in Pakistan and shell remain a Muslim in Moscow too. I prayed in karachi, Pakistan and I shell pray in Moscow Russia too no matter what. He opened the door and i saw Mosque was in bad shape. I cleaned it in a hurry and tried to make it as good as i could in limited time. After that i said call for prayer (Azaan) in loud voice. Many old people, women and children gathered on the door of the mosque when they heard the call for prayer but no one came inside. I wasn't able to say juma prayer cause i was alone but i did said my Zuhar prayer. When I came out people were looking at me as I've done some thing new. A kid came to me and invited me to his home for tea. His voice had such sincerity that i wasn't able to refuse so i went to his home. People there cooked different dishes for me and were extremely happy. I had my lunch and after tea i asked a little kid who was sitting there that if he can recite Quran? Kid : Yes sir! we all know how to recite Quran. I opened my pocket Quran, placed my finger on a verse and asked him to recite it to me. That kid looked at me, then looked at Quran and then look toward his parents. I thought "he don't know how to read but then why he said that he can?" I recited that verse ﻳَﺎ ﺃَﻳُّﻬَﺎ ﺍﻟَّﺬِﻳﻦَ ﺁَﻣَﻨُﻮﺍ ﻗُﻮﺍ ﺃَﻧْﻔُﺴَﻜُﻢْ ﻭَﺃَﻫْﻠِﻴﻜُﻢْ and that kid started recited ahead without even looking at the Quran. I was shocked, looked toward his parents and asked what is this? They smiled and told me that "Quran is banned here. If a person is caught having even a single verse of Quran his whole family is killed. Thats why we cant keep Quran in our homes. Me : If no one here have even a single copy of Quran then how come this kid memorized it? They : We have many Hafiz e Quran here doing different jobs. Some of them are tailors, some are shop keeper, some are farmers and some sells vegetables. So we send our kids to them pretending that they are there for work but in reality they are memorizing Quran there. Thats why even though we don't have even a single copy of Quran but all the kids you see here and in all the Muslim families are hafiz. So when you put your finger on a verse, the kid was not able to read it but when you recited it then he recited whole chapter. And you stopped him otherwise he was going to recite whole Quran. That day i saw not one but many miracles of Quran. A society where Quran was banned, whole generation became hafiz. I tested this thing on many kids. All were hafiz. That day i truly understood the meaning of the verse ﺇِﻧَّﺎ ﻧَﺤﻦُ ﻧَﺰَّﻟْﻨَﺎ ﺍﻟﺬِّﻛﺮَ ﻭَﺇِﻧَّﺎ ﻟَﻪُ ﻟَﺤَﺎﻓِﻈُﻮﻥَ ) 15:9 ) Assuredly, We alone have revealed this Glorious Admonition (the Qur’an), and surely We alone will guard it. People can ban copies of Quran but how can they ban whats in heart. Please share it. Its worth it. posted by Sheikh Ibn Sulaiman Najimdeen. |

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. [This sermon was delivered on the Ninth Day of Dhul-Hijjah 10 A.H. in the 'Uranah valley of Mount Arafat' in Mecca.] After praising and thanking Allah the Prophet (saws) said: “O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today. O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that he will indeed reckon your deeds. Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest), therefore all interest obligations shall henceforth be waived. Your capital is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. Allah has judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to Abbas ibn ‘Abd’al Muttalib [the Prophet's uncle] be waived. Every right arising out of homicide in pre-islamic days is henceforth waived and the first such right that i waive is that arising from the murder of Rabiah ibn al Harithibn. O People, the unbelievers indulge in tampering with the calender in order to make permissible that which Allah forbade, and to forbid that which Allah has made permissible. With Allah the months are twelve in number. Four of them are holy, three of these are successive and one occurs singly between the months of Jumada and Shaban. Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope of that he will be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things. O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah’s trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right, then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with anyone of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste. O People, listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers, fast during the month of Ramadhan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to. All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over a white – except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belogs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not therefore do injustice to yourselves. Remember one day you will meet Allah and answer your deeds. So beware: do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone. O People, no prophet or apostle will come after me, and no new faith will be born. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand my words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Qur’an and my Sunnah and if you follow these you will never go astray. All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O Allah, that I have conveyed Your message to Your people.” |
1st & foremost, EFCC is just a toothless bulldog that can never bite nor chew ordinary chewing gumg, they are tools in which the gov of the day use in threatening any political office holder who is not ready to cooperate with the presidency be it good or bad I.e (pomoting or fighting corruption) which is not suppose to be. But I know there will be a day that all forms of corruption in this country will reduce to the barest minimum if not stop totally #God bless Nigeria# |
Nigeria is country made to exist by God's grace but some bigots, tribalists and senseless beings are trying to break it up which will not be possible May almighty God save us from the hands of the evil doer's. |
WHY I LOVE ISLAM PART 1: IT IS REALITY How nice will it be for an Imam to go on air and say “this is your year of breakthrough, this year all of you will have jobs and money”. It will obviously sound nice to the delusional but the reality is that some will be rich, others will be poor, some will give birth to baby boy, others baby girl, and others twins who are boys or twins who are girls or mixed twins but others will be barren; so why lie or are you ashamed of how God Almighty made things? Islam is perhaps the only faith which does not look for a scapegoat or blame carrier for how God Almighty has made life. Some blame the up and down of life on karma which means anyone who is going through challenges have done evil before and is being repaid; even though this may remove sympathy for one in distress. Others blame it on Adam eating a fruit; even though when I have malaria Adam will not have to swallow bitter pills. And others blame it on the anger of the “gods” over what the fellow has done. Islam alone stands out for the truth being that man was created into struggle, in other words you are told the natural truth which is that life is a struggle rather than the feel good gospel that there is a family curse that needs to be broken The Qur’an says: “We have certainly created man into struggle. Does he think that never will anyone overcome him?” (Qur’an 90:4-5) This verses do not only tell you the whole truth, it also tells you that whatever wealth you have can be taken away. In explaining the statement of Allah in the Qur’an that “You shall certainly experience stage to stage”, Al Hassan Albasri said it means Ease after difficulty, difficulty after ease, wealth after poverty, poverty after wealth, health after sickness, and sickness after health. This is just the natural truth which no one can deny about life and this truthfulness is from the reasons I love Islam Another area to this truthfulness is that Islam uses the reality in solving problems. This explains why it teaches the youths not to go near fornication so that they won’t commit it. It is also why it does not only speak against suspicion it also tasks the other party to only put hands in matters that are clear so that suspicion does not arise. It is also why it does not only tell men not to commit fornication of the eyes but it also tells women to help men by dressing properly. And it is also why it realizes that some men cannot retrain their love and desire to one woman so it allows more than one wife for whoever needs it though with restrictions. It is also why it does not stipulate an age limit for marriage because the reality on ground is that people are not defined by their age Islam is not a belief based on the illusion that once one has a certain spirit he can drink poison and not be harmed. A man came with a camel to the Prophet and asked if he should pray that his camel is safe where he left it or if he should tie it. The prophet said to him “tie your camel and pray”, this is being real while knowing God Almighty can do all things. It is in line with this that Muslims are expected to maintain righteousness but still fear God Almighty. A Muslim is not filled with pride boasting about how he has one spirit or another mercy; he is balanced knowing fully well that being good is not enough as no one can surpass his Lord in goodness. This is why when you hear other people say “may God forgive you” you hear the Muslim say “May God forgive us all” and this is why when the Muslim says he will be in the paradise when he dies he quickly adds “In shaa Allah” and tell you it is if Allah wills because he knows it is not by his deeds after all, if his deeds were to be expended on gratitude for having a eye alone it will not be sufficient Islam is real and in line with nature because it is from the Creator of the heavens and earth who intends that relating with Him be easy and based on truth. I urge every Muslim reading this to be firm in faith and every non Muslim reading this is invited to Islam which is not the religion of any tribe or race but for mankind I pray Allah gives you benefit from the little I have been able to say. Any error in my presentation is from me, any good in it is from the mercies of Allah |
“God has placed truth upon Umar’s tongue and heart. (Hadith)” ‘Umar’s Life During his last illness Abu Bakr had conferred with his people, particularly the more eminent among them. After this meeting they chose ‘Umar as his successor. ‘Umar was born into a respected Quraish family thirteen years after the birth of Muhammad (peace be on him). Umar’s family was known for its extensive knowledge of genealogy. When he grew up, ‘Umar was proficient in this branch of knowledge as well as in swordsmanship, wrestling and the art of speaking. He also learned to read and write while still a child, a very rare thing in Mecca at that time. ‘Umar earned his living as a merchant. His trade took him to many foreign lands and he met all kinds of people. This experience gave him an insight into the affairs and problems of men. ‘Umar’s personality was dynamic, self-assertive, frank and straight forward. He always spoke whatever was in his mind even if it displeased others. ‘Umar was twenty-seven when the Prophet (peace be on him) proclaimed his mission. The ideas Muhammad was preaching enraged him as much as they did the other notables of Mecca. He was just as bitter against anyone accepting Islam as others among the Quraish. When his slave-girl accepted Islam he beat her until he himself was exhausted and told her, “I have stopped because I am tired, not out of pity for you.” The story of his embracing Islam is an interesting one. One day, full of anger against the Prophet, he drew his sword and set out to kill him. A friend met him on the way. When ‘Umar told him what he planned to do, his friend informed him that ‘Umar’s own sister, Fatima, and her husband had also accepted Islam. ‘Umar went straight to his sister’s house where he found her reading from pages of the Qur’an. He fell upon her and beat her mercilessly. Bruised and bleeding, she told her brother, “Umar, you can do what you like, but you cannot turn our hearts away from Islam.” These words produced a strange effect upon ‘Umar. What was this faith that made even weak women so strong of heart? He asked his sister to show him what she had been reading; he was at once moved to the core by the words of the Qur’an and immediately grasped their truth. He went straight to the house where the Prophet was staying and vowed allegiance to him. Umar made no secret of his acceptance of Islam. He gathered the Muslims and offered prayers at the Ka’aba. This boldness and devotion of an influential citizen of Mecca raised the morale of the small community of Muslims. Nonetheless ‘Umar was also subjected to privations, and when permission for emigration to Medina came, he also left Mecca. The soundness of ‘Umar’s judgment, his devotion to the Prophet (peace be on him), his outspokenness and uprightness won for him a trust and confidence from the Prophet which was second only to that given to Abu Bakr. The Prophet gave him the title ‘Farooq’ which means the ‘Separator of Truth from False hood.’ During the Caliphate of Abu Bakr, ‘Umar was his closest assistant and adviser. When Abu Bakr died, all the people of Medina swore allegiance to ‘Umar, and on 23 Jamadi-al-Akhir, 13 A.H., he was proclaimed Caliph. ‘Umar’s Caliphate After taking charge of his office, ‘Umar spoke to the Muslims of Medina: “…O people, you have some rights on me which you can always claim. One of your rights is that if anyone of you comes to me with a claim, he should leave satisfied. Another of your rights is that you can demand that I take nothing unjustly from the revenues of the State. You can also demand that… I fortify your frontiers and do not put you into danger. It is also your right that if you go to battle I should look after your families as a father would while you are away. “O people, remain conscious of God, forgive me my faults and help me in my task. Assist me in enforcing what is good and forbidding what is evil. Advise me regarding the obligations that have been imposed upon me by God…” The most notable feature of ‘Umar’s caliphate was the vast expansion of Islam. Apart from Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, Palestine and Iran also came under the protection of the Islamic government. But the greatness of ‘Umar himself lies in the quality of his rule. He gave a practical meaning to the Qur’anic injunction: “O you who believe, stand out firmly for justice as witnesses to God, even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it concerns rich or poor, for God can best protect both.” [4:135] Once a woman brought a claim against the Caliph ‘Umar. When ‘Umar appeared on trial before the judge, the judge stood up as a sign of respect toward him. ‘Umar reprimanded him, saying, “This is the first act of injustice you did to this woman!” He insisted that his appointed governors live simple lives, keep no guard at their doors and be accessible to the people at all times, and he himself set the example for them. Many times foreign envoys and messengers sent to him by his generals found him resting under a palm tree or praying in the mosque among the people, and it was difficult for them to distinguish which man was the Caliph. He spent many a watchful night going about the streets of Medina to see whether anyone needed help or assistance. The general social and moral tone of the Muslim society at that time is well-illustrated by the words of an Egyptian who was sent to spy on the Muslims during their Egyptian campaign. He reported: “I have seen a people, every one of whom loves death more than he loves life. They cultivate humility rather than pride. None is given to material ambitions. Their mode of living is simple… Their commander is their equal. They make no distinction between superior and inferior, between master and slave. When the time of prayer approaches, none remains behind…” ‘Umar gave his government an administrative structure. Departments of treasury, army and public revenues were established. Regular salaries were set up for soldiers. A popuation census was held. Elaborate land surveys were conducted to assess equitable taxes. New cities were founded. The areas which came under his rule were divided into provinces and governors were appointed. New roads were laid, canals were lug and wayside hotels were built. Provision was made for he support of the poor and the needy from public funds. He defined, by precept and by example, the rights and privileges of non-Muslims, an example of which is the following contract with the Christians of Jerusalem: “This is the protection which the servant of God, ‘Umar, the Ruler of the Believers has granted to the people of Eiliya [Jerusalem]. The protection is for their lives and properties, their churches and crosses, their sick and healthy and for all their coreligionists. Their churches shall not be used for habitation, nor shall they be demolished, nor shall any injury be done to them or to their compounds, or to their crosses, nor shall their properties be injured in any way. There shall be no compulsion for these people in the matter of religion, nor shall any of them suffer any injury on account of religion… Whatever is written herein is under the covenant of God and the responsibility of His Messenger, of the Caliphs and of the believers, and shall hold good as long as they pay Jizya [the tax for their defense] imposed on them.” Those non-Muslims who took part in defense together with the Muslims were exempted from paying Jizya, and when the Muslims had to retreat from a city whose non-Muslim citizens had paid this tax for their defense, the tax was returned to the non-Muslims. The old, the poor and the disabled of Muslims and non-Muslims alike were provided for from the public treasury and from the Zakat funds. ‘Umar’s Death In 23 A.H., when Umar returned to Medina from Hajj;, he raised his hands and prayed, “O God! I am advanced in years, my bones are weary, my powers are declining, and the people for whom I am responsible have spread far and wide. Summon me back to Thyself, my lord!” Some time later, when ‘Umar went to the mosque to lead a prayer, a Magian named Abu Lulu Feroze, who had a grudge against ‘Umar on a personal matter, attacked him with a dagger and stabbed him several times. Umar reeled and fell to the ground. When he learned that the assassin was a Magian, he sid, “Thank God he is not a Muslim.” ‘Umar died in the first week of Muharram, 24 A.H., and was buried by the side of the Holy Prophet (peace be on him). |
