Politics / Corruption Would Break Nigeria-ex Minister by oziegbe2015: 9:56pm On Dec 23, 2014
Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice of the Federation Kanu Agabi has said corruption is more capable of breaking the country than religion or ethnicity.
He made the remark while presenting a paper, “Rewarding Excellence and Integrity in Service” at the maiden rewards and recognition ceremony of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at its Academy in Karu, Abuja yesterday.
He said: “I’m speaking to you at a time when nothing seems to be predictable, a time that virtually, all the structures of accountability provided by law have been knocked down and destroyed.”
Agabi who insisted that there was no “discord between the Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo nations, between the Christians and Muslims,” stressed that the only enemy of Nigeria is corruption.
“If we do not give up corruption, it will not be long before we stop to exist as a nation,” he maintained.
The former minister of Justice noted that Nigeria’s problem started from multiplication of public institutions, stressing that most people occupying offices were unqualified to take up such responsibilities.
While maintaining that corruption has eaten deep into the fabric of Nigeria, he said the EFCC could only do little to salvage the nation.
Agabi however, advised EFCC operatives to continue in the task of fighting corruption in the country as her survival depends on the commission.
Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Lamorde praised the dedication of staff of the commission to carrying out its mandate.
He said through their efforts, “the EFCC that only a few were willing to give a chance of succeeding 11 years ago, is today an institution of reckoning in law enforcement.”
While charging the awardees to continue to do their best while carrying out their respective assignments, Lamorde said EFCC will continue to reward hard work. http://dailytrust.com.ng/daily/news/42624-corruption-could-break-nigeria-ex-minister
Politics / Fugi House Of Commotion Star Joins Politics by oziegbe2015: 9:28pm On Dec 23, 2014
As the 2015 elections inch close, another entertainer, Sola Onayiga, aka Ireti in the popularFuji House of Commotionsitcom, has joined other entertainers who are aspiring for political offices.
A source toldThe Nationthat the actress, who is seeking to represent Ikorodu 1 Constituence in the Lagos State House of Assembly, submitted her INEC nomination last Friday, and will be running under the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Onayiga was said to have submitted the form personally to the chairman of SDP, Lagos State chapter, Engineer Rufus Osula.
Popular for her character as ‘show off cook’ in the now rested drama, the thespian is also noted forCheckmate, another rested soap by the producer ofFuji House of Commotion, the late Amaka Igwe and as Madam Philo in BBC’sStory, Story -Voices From The Market Place.
Speaking toThe Nationon telephone, Onayiga said, “I can’t say because I am not a politician, then things should be left undone. We need people to come out. If you are interested in correcting wrongs, you just have to come out. I want to contribute my little quota.”
According to the thespian, there is need for government to take entertainers more seriously by putting enough funds in the sector. “They see entertainers as unserious set of people. Government is not putting money into the arts in this country, all they do is invite us for their programmes to come and dance,” she said.
She noted that although it will be her first time in politics, she has affected her society positively, and will do better as a public office holder. “I have done alot for the youths in Ikorodu. I have also been resourceful to the women folks; I encourage women, especially widows on how best to move on with their lives.
On why it took her long to seek an elective post, she said, “I had to take my time to study the grounds very well.”
Onayiga said she chose the SDP platform because it is the late M.K.O Abiola’s party, and that she considered it the best way to launch her political ambition.http://thenationonlineng.net/new/fuji-house-commotion-star-joins-politics/

Do you know u can go to JAIL faster with this. If buhari is a terrorist why has it not been confirmed by fg. Why has fg not even taken him to court if they have proofs. Even if buhari makes certain statments it doesnt matter in law u have to back it up. Many like obj, dokubor, tompolo have even made worse statements. It could naturally be out of exictment or annoyance, buhari is not guilty of any crime. Or is gej scared of persecuting one man, with all the federal power it has, if he is scared then he deserves to be voted out for beign an ameatur in handling governance. Even in law if u see a man that killed someone in your very presence he would be called an ordinary suspect. Becareful u can go to jail for deformation of a gentleman character. undecided

Politics / Re: If You STRONGLY Believe In Buhari, that He Will Change Nigeria. A Question For U by oziegbe2015: 8:32pm On Dec 23, 2014
Where are the questions, ask one by one in a civilised way. I only saw why did ibb remove buhari as military head. The ans = in buhari time we all know his corruption fighting stance, he had pencil babangida and gusua(ur present chief of defence) for drug baron crimes. Ibb was suppose to resign and be disgraced on the 1st of october 1983, when he and gusua who knew the consequences of the act heard of it they staged a coup, when buhari had gone to mecca, they saw the perfect time to act and u knw military power. They disposed him and later made a briefring that it wasnt done because buhari was insuffient but because they saw some external forces. Buhari never wanted bloodshed so he calmed down. To this day ibb had apologized. Mr gusua is still serving in gej cabinet
