Sports / Ronaldo Top 10 Goals Ranked As He Becomes TOP Scoring Footballer Of All Time by Panti7: 11:51pm On Jan 20, 2021
It seemed only a matter of time before Cristiano Ronaldo would become the highest scoring footballer in the history of the sport.

It is a remarkable, breathtaking achievement which the man from Madeira finally achieved against Napoli, hitting the back of the net in the Italian Super Cup in the 64th minute to score his 760th career goal and leapfrog previous holder Josef Bican in the process to score more than any other player to have graced the beautiful game.

From his rockets at Manchester United to his sublime artistry at Real Madrid and Juventus, Ronaldo has never showed a single sign of slowing down.

After scoring in such ferocious quantities, selecting Ronaldo's best ever career strikes is never an easy task.

Sportsmail has pored back through the archives to compile the 10 finest, taking into account various elements such as the importance of the goal, the technique involved or the general aesthetic make-up of the effort itself.

Quite often with Ronaldo, all of these elements are merged expertly into one.

Sports / 4 Players Who Became Broke After Retiring From Football.1 Almost Committed Suici by Panti7: 12:10pm On Jan 18, 2021
4 players who became broke after retiring from football. No.1 almost committed Suicide

Professional football is a highly rewarding sport, especially when it's being played in continents like Europe, America or Asia. Many individuals have made quite a fortune for themselves as professional footballers. But the major problem lies whenever they stop playing football professionally. That's why many footballers try to invest their hard earned money in profitable ventures to keep their streams of income flowing.

On the other hand, we have had players who made a lot of money from football during their playing days but due to mismanagement of funds, bad investments or unforeseen circumstances they lost all and became broke.

In this article, we will look at 4 footballers who(at one point in their lives)became impoverished after losing their money.

4. Gbenga Okunowo

Gbenga okunowo is a Nigerian retired footballer who played majorly as a right-back. He played for football Club Barcelona between 1998-2001 and for so many other clubs across Europe. His career was plagued by numerous injuries and in 2012 he retired at the age of 34 with Sunshine stars of Akure being the last club he ever played for.

Sadly, in July 2012, Okunowo lost all his properties and possessions when an inferno broke out in his Ibadan Mansion. However, luck smiled on him after an online appeal alerted Football Club Barcelona of Gbenga's plight, which they obliged.

3. Ronaldinho

Arguably one of the finest and most popular footballers in history, Ronaldo de Assis Moreira a.k.a Ronaldinho used to be a household name in his playing days. The Brazilian former professional footballer is widely known for his skills and prowess with the ball.

Ronaldinho earned a lot of money during his playing days but sadly he squandered most of it on Mansions, women, parties, and other frivolous acts. A few years ago, the Brazillian Legend was said to be in a major financial crisis. He was owing a huge debt and was recently imprisoned in Paraguay after entering the country with a fake passport.

2. Drenthe

Royston Drenthe is a Dutch footballer who plays for Spanish Club Racing Murcia. The former Real Madrid player retired from the sport in 2016 to pursue a career in music under the name 'Roy2faces'. However, in December 2020, Drenthe was declared bankrupt at the age of 33 after losing about 3.2 million pounds partly due to a failed music career.

Recently, he came out of retirement and joined Spanish lower division side Racing Murcia.

1. Eboue

Eboue is an Ivorian professional footballer who played as a right-back for big clubs like Arsenal and the Turkish side, Galatasaray. However, 3 years ago Eboue revealed how broke he was and how he almost committed suicide.

The former Arsenal defender used to earn millions as an English Premier League player but he lost all his properties and was squatting with a friend. In an interview, he said he lost a divorce battle which resulted in him losing all his properties and possessions to his estranged wife.

" The money I earned, I sent it to my wife and children. In Turkey, I earned 8million euros and sent 7million euros back home. Whatever she told me to sign, I signed", Eboue said.

The divorce really affected Eboue as he crept into a state of depression and also contemplated suicide.

On this day in 1949, Nigeria played away at Marine F.C, in Crosby, Liverpool. The Nigerian side, playing in barefoot, ran away 5-2 victors.

The Nigerian team beat Marine Crosby 5-2. The match referee admitted afterwards that “I have not seen barefooted footballers before but, by gum, these lads are good.” The spectators surged on to the pitch after the match and carried the victorious Nigerians shoulder-high to the dressing room.

Sports / Blow For Mali As Traore Trains With Spain by Panti7: 8:09am On Oct 07, 2020
Tug-of-war forward Adama Traore from English Premier League club Wolves is training with Spain, effectively ending Malian hopes he might play for them.

The 24-year-old was born in Barcelona to parents from the west African country, making him eligible to play for either national team.

He got two call-ups last week -- from Spain for fixtures against Portugal, Switzerland and Ukraine and from Mali for matches against Ghana and Iran.

Silva said: “No, I don’t worry at all because I know where I want to get to because I have really high hopes about this team, this young team.

“Thank god, I physically feel really good. Age is just a number on your document but physically I feel very young.

“I am very well prepared for this and i have been preparing for this my whole life.

“people who know me, know how much i put into my work. i put in 200 per cent and this is a great opportunity that Chelsea and Frank Lampard has given me and I don’t want to let them down.

“At 36, I am arriving to play in one of the best championships in the world.

“This is usually a league of young players but I am coming here as an older player and I see it as because Frank Lampard and Chelsea want a player of my experience.

“If someone wants a runner, then I refer to the words that Carlo Ancelotti used for James Rodriguez ‘if you want someone to run, they can sign Usain Bolt’.

“With my experience and the young players here, I hope to help them in this new adventure.

“It is another opportunity for me in my life. I will say that I am very well prepared, I have been working hard towards this.

“Tomorrow is my first game and I feel like it will go well given the way that we are training.”

Sports / Arteta Admits He Was Worried He Would Lose Aubameyang Before Striker Signed by Panti7: 9:46am On Sep 19, 2020
Mikel Arteta admitted on Friday night that he was worried about Arsenal’s chances of keeping Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the striker had doubts about staying.

But the Gunners boss revealed some pivotal conversations with Aubameyang and his representatives during lockdown proved decisive in securing his future at the club.

Captain Aubameyang gave Arsenal a huge boost by signing a new three-year deal this week that, with bonuses, could be worth in excess of £350,000 per week.

Sports / Suarez Arrives Perugia To Take Italian Exam As He Pushes For Juventus Move by Panti7: 7:33pm On Sep 17, 2020
Luis Suarez was greeted by photographers, journalists and Juventus fans as the Barcelona striker arrived in Perugia to take an Italian exam.

Suarez has been deemed surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp by new boss Ronald Koeman and that has accelerated interest in him from Italian champions Juventus.

But with Andrea Pirlo limited as to the number of non-EU (European Union) players he can acquire in one window, the club need Suarez to pass his exam in Perugia and acquire dual nationality to make a transfer possible this month.

Suarez took part in training with his Barcelona team-mates earlier on Thursday before flying to Perugia for the university exam.

Juventus have already brought in Brazilian international Arthur Melo and Unites States midfielder Weston McKennie this summer, limiting their options in pursuit of the 33-year-old striker.

The transfer deadline closes on October 5 but Suarez's appearance at the university in Perugia on Thursday is the clearest indication yet that he is pushing to secure a move to Turin to join Juventus.

Suarez arrived in denim shorts, trainers and a white Puma t-shirt as he was seen wearing a face mask due to the ongoing health concerns for players amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Sports / Cristiano Ronaldo Told To Wear Face Mask During Portugal 4-1 Croatia by Panti7: 10:49am On Sep 06, 2020
According to Football Italia, Ronaldo was not included in Portugal’s squad because of a bee sting. Yes, you did right that right: a bee sting.

The 35-year-old’s right foot has reportedly become infected due to the sting and there’s a chance he could also miss Portugal’s fixture against Sweden on Tuesday.

"I am very doubtful that he will be 100 per cent OK," Portugal head coach Fernando Santos said during his press conference, per The Sun.

"He had been training well, then suddenly on Wednesday one of his toes was red, as if he’d been stung by a bee.

"Now we have to wait. With an infection, you don’t know how long the recovery is going to take."

Despite his infected foot, Ronaldo was still in attendance at the Estádio Do Dragão in Porto for Portugal’s clash against 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia.

And his teammates produced an excellent team performance in his absence, registering a 4-1 victory over their opponents thanks to goals from Joao Cancelo, Diogo Jota, Joao Felix and Andre Silva.

At one point, the camera cut to Ronaldo being asked by a member of staff inside the stadium to wear a face mask.

Those around him in the stands were masked up, but Ronaldo had clearly forgotten to put his on.

Don’t worry, Cristiano, we’ve all been there at one point or another in recent months.

Getting all the way to the shops before realising you’ve forgotten your face mask is the worst.

Ronaldo duly cooperated after his reminder and continued watching the action.

Nobody escapes the mask rule - not even Cristiano Ronaldo!

Sports / Thiago Alcantara Breaks Silence On Liverpool Transfer With Strong Statement by Panti7: 6:37am On Sep 06, 2020
Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has denied telling the Champions League winners that he wants to leave.

The Spain midfielder is understood to be keen on a new challenge after seven years with the German giants.

The 29-year-old was instrumental as Hansi Flick’s men claimed European glory last month, but has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of Thiago, and has been tipped to make a move if they can do a deal at a reasonable price - while it’s been suggested that the player would be keen on a move to Anfield.

But speaking ahead of Spain’s clash with Ukraine on Saturday, Thiago, when asked about his future, went against what has been said by Bayern’s top brass.

"I have not told anyone that I'm leaving," declared the playmaker on Saturday.

“Every year you put me at a different club.

“For me, my future is tomorrow's game and there is nothing more to say.

"I neither care nor am I interested. What interests me is tomorrow."

It comes after Thiago told ZDF on Thursday night: "Bayern is my home and I am happy to be there."
