These two comments highlight the problem of Africans: Very religious, superstitious and forming righteous yet don't fail to exhibit their extreme wickedness at any given chance.

The Bureau for Public Procurement (BPP) has queried the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola over the award of 10 road and bridge contracts worth N166 billion.
The BPP said the minister and his ministry violated the laws guiding contract awards in Nigeria in the manner they selected contractors for the projects.
The procurement agency is asking Mr. Fashola to explain, among other things, why the costs of some of the projects were inflated and why some were awarded to unqualified firms.

The projects are the rehabilitation of Numan-Jalingo Road awarded to Deux Projects Ltd for N11.7 billion; replacement of substandard bridges along Gusau-Sokoto Road awarded to Triacta Nig. Health › Osun Ranks Highest In Female Genital Mutilation – UNFPA by PapaBaby(op): 11:19am On Dec 02, 2016
@mods please move to correct section.
The United Nations Population Fund on Thursday said that Osun State still recorded highest prevalence of Female Genital Mutilation in Nigeria with over 76.3 per cent.

Damilola Obinna, a Gender Analyst with UNFPA, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that FGM was high in the South West in spite of the geopolitical zone’s high literacy and awareness rate.

Obinna said that the statistics was arrived at after a survey was carried out by UNFPA in collaboration with UNICEF in 2015.

Obinna said: “After data collation and analysis, we discovered that Osun had 76.3 per cent prevalence rate, Ekiti had 71.2, Oyo, 69.7; Ebonyi, 55.6; Imo, 48.8; and Lagos, 44.8.

“There is no single benefit in the practice of female genital mutilation; yet, the practice is high even among the educated.

“Aside from the immediate risks of FGM which includes haemorrhage, infections, and death, survivors of FGM are liable to present later in their lives recurring urinary tract infections, menstrual problems, reproductive tract infections, depression, sexual dysfunction and pain, and chronic genital pain.

“They are also at risk for several adverse complications for both mother and newborn during childbirth.”

Oga, BMB is a Senator, he has the instrument of the State to make change, he is paid handsomely for it. But instead, he would rant on SM...

Tonye is not an officer of the State, everything I do is sacrificial for the love of the country
For the love of country organize some protest against the incoming tariffs.
I hate when people accuse Ben Murray of doing nothing when it's obvious he's raising awareness of what we face if we do nothing.
Most people who criticise Ben Murray don't even know who their senator is.
Ben Murray has been one of the most vocal senator, Donald Trump also use Twitter as his choice medium of disseminating information.

Am saying you'd be more productive to society if you channel your energy on something meaningful like joining a protest March.
Writing meaningless articles on Nairaland won't change anything.

Politics › #500m MTN Bribery Allegations: Presidency Orders Probe Of Abba Kyari by PapaBaby(op): 1:52pm On Oct 21, 2016

There are indications that the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Abba Kyari is under investigation by the Special Investigation Panel of the Nigerian Police Force over bribery allegations. The probe according to Vanguard’s investigation is in connection with alleged N500million bribery money said to have been paid to the Chief of Staff by officials of South African owned MTN Telecommunications Company with the intent that the COS influence government to discontinue its heavy stance on the $5billion fine imposed on the company.
Recall that the NCC, Nigeria’s telecoms regulator, slammed a $5 billion fine on MTN for failing to disconnect subscribers with unregistered phone lines bought before January 2012. In 2011, the NCC mandated all telecoms operators in Nigeria to register all existing phone subscribers before a January 2012 deadline. The NCC had ordered that all unregistered phone lines after the end of the registration process should be disconnected from operators’ networks. But MTN Nigeria, the largest telecoms operator in Nigeria, failed to comply with NCC’s directive and this is believed to have facilitated activities of terrorists and kidnapping kingpins who perpetrated several of their murderous and nefarious acts that proved costly to the nation. However, following the frustrations of the telecommunications giant’s bid to fight the huge fine imposition, firstly through the courts and later through diplomatic means, an online media (Sahara Reporters) published a report on 20th September 2016, stating that officials of MTN gave a bribe of N500million to Alhaji Abba Kyari, to intervene and use his closeness to President Buhari, to influence the federal government to give MTN a safe landing. Worried by the allegation, the Presidency is said to have directed the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to investigate the allegation and come out with findings regarding the accusation.
