@papaking1 please tell us a bit about Winnipeg after your 10 months stay, please share the good, the good and the good grin

Winnipeg is good if you are just coming from Naija but after some time, if you are the big dreamer type like me you will begin to think of relocating to another place with bigger opportunities.

Like all of Canada, you will basically be starting afresh here. Canadian experience and education are key here.

The city is geographically big but you can drive around the city in 2 hours or less.

There are so many Aboriginals and many of them can kill you for a stick of cigarette. Some of them are okay but the majority of them appear jobless with a good number of them homeless even though they get substantial benefits from the govt.

Most Nigerians here are into care jobs - personal support worker and security jobs. the major reason for this is that apart from being able to get, the jobs, especially the care job is quite easy (if you don't mind taking care of others, even bathing and cleaning their poo).

One thing I have noticed here is that factory jobs and other hard labour jobs usually pay less, so Nigerians usually just do the easier and better-paid job of home care. I have seen a few that owns their own business and other that have decent jobs but mostly its care jobs especially the women.

I have seen some people relocating to Calgary once they get their citizenship and I will probably follow this route when I obtain my citizenship.

The people are nice though with a lot of Indians and Philipinos.

Govt is very supportive and they help you with rent assist, daycare subsidy and there is a place (Provenchial) where you can go anytime to get furniture, mattress, clothes and other stuff to help you fill up your apartment for free.

Most places are good to live-in but if you have kids you will want to avoid downtown area because that's where the majority of Native lives.

These are statistics and logic, not something you can't do. When I joined, under the old curriculum, there was a statistic course to bring you up to date. However, the curriculum was changed but I am sure there is provision for it in the improved curriculum. I am almost done with half of the program.

Thank you sir. Can I pm you?

Since you have a background in management, you may want to look into a free online masters program in Financial Engineering. Python, R, etc are a huge part of the program and you will be taught how to program from scratch. The program focus on how to build trading algorithms for financial markets, data analytics, quant research, etc. If interested look up World Quant University, it is a 2-year program.

Thank you, I will look into it though I forgot to mention that I'm kind of scared of strong calculations like Maths. I try to avoid it whenever I can.

The course description sounds great and I will surely look it up to see if it's available here or online.

Hello house,
After 10 months in Winnipeg, I think it's high time I begin to plan for the future and leave this rat race. I have made up my mind to go into IT though I don't have IT background but I very good with computer and own a few blogs and ecommerce site I created myself.

I enrolled for python programming online but has been unable to give it enough attention. I need advise on where to start from.

A friend said I should take Itil certication and blend it with my management background. Another advised me to do A+.

I want to do something that I can easily get a nice job and also be able to start my own firm later in the future. I don't want to be an employee for long.

I really want to learn python language but I feel I need to have a more solid IT background before venturing into programming. Anybody in IT field here? Your advice is desperately needed please.

Hello Guys/Ladies,

I just opened a shop on shopify to sell tshirts and other stuff but I am having problem coming up with creative designs. I need someone who can help me with some creative designs to put on the t-shirts, mugs and other items.

My niche is motivation/inspiration, so any design must be motivating or inspiring.

PLEASE NOTE, a simple motivational write-up may be sufficient as long as it creatively presented. Designs don't basically have to be too complicated.

I have a canva.com account and will grant access to the chosen designer (if you want).

I will need the design in Jpg and Pgn before payment.

ANY DESIGN PAID FOR BECOMES MY SOLE PROPERTY AND I WILL RETAIN THE EXCLUSIVE RIGHT TO IT.

COPYRIGHT DESIGN IS NOT ACCEPTED. HOWEVER, you can take an existing design and modify it to make it unique.

If you are using a copyright quote, I may accept it if the name of the person quoted is included in the design.

Please research motivational t-shirt designs and see what is out there before even replying my message.

I WILL PAY N1,500 PER DESIGN ACCEPTED

Please email me with a sample design (you can use watermark or any other ways to protect the design) and if I like your work I will send you my number so we can conclude on watsap. I am in Canada so don't be surprised when you see a foreign number.

waiting to see your design @ kelvinomere@gmail.com

Want to know more about me, you can check my blog @ kelvinomere.com

Thank you for your time.

You see, I really like your courage and persistence in this business. I see how passionate you have been; you really wanna get to the bottom line of the business to get to the top. Your kind is rare, keep it up and be calm too.

How I wish you know how open my eyes have been to this business. I have taken back all my losses a long time ago and FX does not owe me at all. Kudos to you.

Hello Pipsbasketings,
I read on the first page of this thread that you have formulated a brand new way of minting steady profits from the Markets.

Please, can you direct me to the thread and page where I can access that valuable information?

Thanks in anticipation!

nice one sir, trading in 2007 is now different from now where many thins have been manipulated and modified, i will advice to start over to learn, since you have much knowledge of the past, you will catch faster. May be forexfactory will be good for you to get basic strategy, then build it to suite your time. As per avatrade, i dont know much of them. you can try www.100forexbrokers.com to start shopping good brokers that accept canadian residence.

Thanks bro, I appreciate the response. I intend to start learning as if i don't know anything about fx. I suspected that a lot of things would have changed.

Great thread!
I'm about to go back to fx trading after quitting it in 2007.

Do anyone trade with https://my.avatrade.com because I am about to open an account with them?

I live in Canada and would like to know if you guys can recommend a better platform.

Please, I also need links to strategies and guidelines that will make my second journey into fx a huge success.

Regards

I need advice on what certificate or diploma program I can do so as to get a good job. Gurus in the house, maternal, Salford, Congo and blackbuddy please kindly give suggestions. I dont have any preferences just something that will make me job ready. Am coming as a permanent resident.

As an experienced banker, you may want to consider financial analyst, I heard they are very well paid and I have seen a lot of job placements also.

Anybody in Winnipeg here?

I was a business minded civil servant in Nigeria and had a liking for management (Studied Public Administration)
I have always wanted to become a business development manager and would love to go the way of management here.

Though my cousins here are not enthusiastic about it, I feel there are prospects for me as I see a lot of management positions on offer. I intend to take a job as a management trainee while I look for management courses to take, while building my management and Canadian job experience at the same time.

What do you guys please think about a management career in Canada generally?

Two good heads, as they say is better than one.

Any suggestions please

From my personal experience, they didn't search any of my boxes and i had so much food stuff. i had about six boxes filled with all kinds of stock fishes, crayfish, pap, iru, snail, maggi, even smoked guinea fowl tongue embarassed. all in large portions to last me at least 6 months. While i was on the flight to toronto, the form they usually give to fill asking if you have food stuffs etc, i ticked "no" as i have always done based on past experience to the us, etc . However, if you aren't comfortable with ticking 'no" please do not as long as you are ready to be searched .

I ticked yes but wasn't searched all the same

Good morning all, please can you tell how I will go about carrying food stuffs? I intend packing fish, crayfish, etc. Please advice. Thanks

Not a big deal. just ensure you put everything in transparent nylons. it would be advisable to ground everything groundable too.

Declare it at Lagos airport. they will ask you to pay 2k for each bag. negotiate it with them and you are good.

Lagos was the only place my food stuff was checked.

you should also ensure to wrap your bags with celotape after the checking. there's is a guy there that would do a professional job for you on agreed fees.
