Why do we have terrorists in selected areas in Africa where those elements are common there? More than 50% of uranium deposit is located in just 3 countries,Australia, Kazakhstan, and Canada. No African country can compete with any of those 3 countries in terms of uranium deposit. I wont be surprise if you're also accusing some people in far away continents of creating Boko Haram and IPOB in Nigeria |

Atuero: This process of Autonomy was started under his predecessor and I think the Judiciary that has the final say deserves the glory The process of Autonomy was not started under Buhari. The national assembly under Jonathan and Buhari also tried to grant finacial autonomy to the LGAs, but they failed woefully. People like you are so irritating. You're the first clown I will see make this kind of irritating comment. When Buhari paid LG money directly to LG accounts, the Governors dragged the FG to the supreme court and got a favourable judgement. Right now, Tinubu has not only made sure LGAs get their funds directly, LG Chairmen can't be sack by Governors. It's an insult for you to claim the person who made this possible do not deserve a praise. |

Atuero: I am a little bit skeptical and confused as regards the way Tinubu supporters have been rejoicing over the supreme Court judgement on the financial Autonomy of the local government in Nigeria which has been existing in the Constitution of the land but neglected over the years.
The question that comes to my mind is since the Judiciary is an independent arm of Government, are they not the body to take the accolades for such courageous and historical judgement?........... those praising Tinubu on the judgement, doesn't it He interferes and influences the Judiciary?
I don't think this is part of the responsibility of the executive arm of Government who should be busy making policies and developing strategies that will make life easy for the citizens. If financial Autonomy of the local government in Nigeria has been existing in the Constitution of the land but neglected over the years but someone took step for it not to be neglected... So the person who finally took the step to make sure financial autonomy become possible for the LGAs do not deserve to be praise? |

lawani: Take a gas retailer or any retailer for instance. The person may sell up to 40kg per day on average and one hundred naira additional per kg will add over one hundred thousand naira per month to the net income of the business and to pay the minimum wage will be easy because it is the business paying and not the business owner. It must be realized that without factoring in wages, prices fluctuates wildly. Gas retail price moved from 650 to 1200. If you can employ then you can certainly pay any wage imposed by the government simply because it is an overhead expense. The business is paying. You are not the one paying. If a living and taxable minimum wage is imposed on the economy, prices will rise a tiny bit will be the response but the economy will be much better off on the overall. Is it compulsory for you to talk? |

Politics › FG Awards $21 Million Contract To Meter 187 Oil Stations by Paraman(op): 4:17am On Jul 13, 2024 |
The Federal Executive Council announced the award of a $21m contract for the metering of 187 crude oil flow stations in Nigeria, to properly account for the country’s production and exports.
It also disclosed that the council awarded another contract for the deployment of software that would enable the government to monitor the movement of Nigeria’s crude from the point of loading of every cargo in Nigeria up to the point of the cargo’s destination.
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, who disclosed this at a press briefing in Abuja, stated that the initiatives would further give clarity on the volumes of crude produced in-country as well as the amount exported to other nations.
He said, “Two days ago, the Federal Executive Council meeting was held, presided over by Mr President, where we took some very bold steps to reorganise the oil and gas sector. One of the key approvals by the Federal Executive Council has to do with awarding a contract for the metering of our 187 flow stations across the Niger Delta region of Nigeria by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission.
“NUPRC is the apex regulatory agency or commission for the Nigerian oil and gas upstream sector. As part of our steps to ensure that we have proper accountability, the Federal Executive Council approved the metering of all our production. We have 187 flow stations in the country, and there was a contract awarded for us to meter all the flow stations so that we’ll be able to properly account for what we produce and what we export.
“It is a major development that has never happened in this country. And this project is meant to be completed within six months, within 180 days. And it is important that Nigerians know some of the key steps that this government is taking to ensure that we maximise opportunities that other countries are getting by the availability of oil and gas in Nigeria.”
Lokpobiri pointed out that the approved cost for the deployment of the meters was $21m, adding that it would be complemented with advanced cargo tracking technology.
“The second key issue is what we call advanced cargo. As part of the steps towards ensuring that we account for what we produce, and then Nigerians get the maximum value for what we produce, the second memo that was approved by the council has to do with what we call advanced cargo.
“This means we are awarding a contract to a company that will provide the technology within 180 days, the same period, to enable us to know from the point of loading of every cargo of crude oil that’s loaded in Nigeria up to the point of destination. That’s why I call it advanced cargo.
“So if from Forcados Terminal, where crude oil is loaded, I can stay in my office and know when it is taken off from Nigeria up to the final destination. You will agree with me that most of the time you talk about the issue of oil theft. Major steps haven’t been taken. But this is the time for us to take some major steps so that we know from the beginning what we produce to the point of loading from our terminals up to the point of destination,” Lokpobiri stated.
The minister said the main objectives of those decisions were for Nigeria to ramp up crude oil production and grow its revenue from oil sales.
“Remember that oil is still the fastest way we can raise the funding we need to be able to address our economic and social problems. And so one of the steps we are taking as a government is to ensure that there is proper accountability.
“That is why this project was awarded and is to be delivered within 180 days so that we will know when a cargo is loaded, we will monitor it through digital technologies, up to when it is delivered at the final destination, and that will increase our federation revenue,” he added.
There have been concerns around crude oil production in Nigeria, as domestic refineries have repeatedly complained of being starved of crude by international oil companies.
Also, industry experts have complained about the lack of transparency in getting the actual crude oil volumes produced in the Niger Delta.
Modular refiners as well as officials of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery have repeatedly called for the provision of crude for their plants, while independent oil producers recently stated that Nigeria has to produce about two million barrels of crude daily to meet its local oil demand as well as that of export.
Nigeria currently produces less than 1.3 million barrels of crude oil daily and this is less than the 1.5 million barrels daily production quota approved for the country by the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries.
But Lokpobiri stated on Friday that with the deployment of the software and metering of the 187 flow stations, the country hopes to get the actual volumes of crude produced in Nigeria, a development that would also help in the drive to ramp up crude oil production.
“The database and the control centre are dedicated to tracking our crude oil export from the point of loading to the final point of sales in any part of the world where our crude oil may be sold. Having said that, it’s also important to inform you that we’ve been able to bring back the confidence of the investing community.
“You recall that for the past 12 years, there has been no major investment in Nigeria. But since the inception of this administration, and since I was appointed as minister, we have been able to work very hard to rekindle the confidence of the investing community,” he declared.
The minister also disclosed that the Port Harcourt refinery would soon come on stream, but did not mention the date when the plant would start producing refined petroleum products. https://punchng.com/fg-awards-21m-contract-to-meter-187-oil-stations/?utm_source=telegram&utm_medium=social

Validated: There has been a lot of buzz about LGA autonomy as if it will change anything. The LGA Chairmen are all selected by the State Governors.
Until State Independent Electoral Commissions are scrapped, there will be no autonomy. As long as State governors select LGA chairmen in the name of LG elections, nothing has changed.. By the way, why is the Supreme Court silent on the LCDAs?
Anyway, I can imagine that this is the only achievement by the Tinubu government in the last 1 year plus of monumental disaster. Having plunged the economy into an abysmal state, a Supreme Court Judgement is Worth celebrating in the midst of significant and unprecedented failure. A lot of you just criticize irresponsibly, nothing the government do will make you happy. You're are even asking why the supreme court is silent on LCDAs |

Politics › S’court’s Verdict On LG Autonomy, A Relief For Governors – NGF by Paraman(op): 5:30pm On Jul 12, 2024 |
Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman, has said that the forum welcomed the ruling of the Supreme Court granting autonomy to local government areas. AbdulRazaq said the verdict of the court is a relief from the burdens on the governors. AbdulRazak accompanied by the Chairman, All Progressives Congress Governors Forum, Hope Uzodimma, and Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum, Dr Bala Mohammed, made the remark while addressing State House correspondents after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Friday. He added that compliance to the verdict is guaranteed, saying “our Attorney General has applied for the enrollment order, which we’ll study carefully.” “But by and large, governors are happy with the devolution of power in respect of local government autonomy. It relieves the burden on governors. “Our people really don’t know how much states expend in bailing out local governments, and that’s the issue there,” he said. AbdulRazaq said his government in Kwara State had never tampered with local government funds. “What the local governments have to do is to manage themselves, especially with the incoming minimum wage, to manage their affairs and make sure salaries are paid, traditional rulers get their five per cent and those are the main issues,” he said. AbdulRazaq said the forum would meet next Wednesday to look into issues of states where local government elections are yet to be conducted. Recall the Supreme Court declared on Thursday that it is unconstitutional for state governors to hold funds allocated for local government administrations. The seven-man panel, in the judgment delivered by Justice Emmanuel Agim, declared that the 774 local government councils in the country should manage their funds themselves. The apex court held that the power of the government is portioned into three arms of government, the federal, the state and the local government. The court further declared that a state government has no power to appoint a caretaker committee and a local government council is only recognisable with a democratically elected government. The court stated that it is the local government that should receive and manage funds meant for local government. The Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), had filed a lawsuit on behalf of the Federal Government, seeking to grant full autonomy and direct funding to all 774 local government councils in the country. https://punchng.com/scourts-verdict-on-lg-autonomy-a-relief-for-governors-ngf/?utm_source=telegram&utm_medium=social |
Politics › FG Clears 1,330 NIS Retirees 17-Year Severance Allowance by Paraman(op): 5:17pm On Jul 12, 2024 |
The Federal Government has cleared the 17-year outstanding severance allowances of 1,330 officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service who retired between 2006 and 2007.
At a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, the Director-General, Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Mr. Dasuki Arabi announced that 885 officers had been verified and paid their outstanding benefits after a verification exercise was conducted across the six geopolitical zones across the country.
The DG noted that the exercise, which began on November 27, 2023, and ended on January 20, 2024, was a culmination of efforts by the BPSR, Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Federal Civil Service Commission, and Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation.
“We have finally resolved the outstanding severance benefits of 1,330 disengaged officers from the 2006/2007 reform programme. This achievement serves as a beacon of hope for other parastatals and MDAs facing similar challenges,” Arabi added.
Arabi equally thanked the FG for its “unwavering commitment to addressing this long-standing issue, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
He noted that 17 verified officers could not be paid due to some inconsistencies in their account details, but are being addressed by the stakeholders’ committee.
The PUNCH had reported that ten months after their recruitment, NIS officers were yet to receive their salary arrears despite being captured on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System.
The personnel, whose appointment letters date back to August 15, 2023, claimed they had not been paid between September 2023 and February 2024.
The National Chairman and Coordinator, National Association of Retired Immigration Officers, Mr. Ola Gbadamosi acknowledged the payment to the association’s members but noted that some beneficiaries could not be traced due to mix-ups in the biodata of the next of kin for the late officers.
“I want to thank the DG, BPSR and the office of the Accountant-General and Auditor-General of the Federation for their intervention in making the payment a success. It has been 17 years of struggle but it’s a reality today.
“Although we have not been able to fully verify some of our members, about 400 of them. We are working to ensure that everyone is fully captured,” Gbadamosi said.
He also appealed to the government to settle the disparities in the 17-year salary arrears owed to the retirees. https://punchng.com/fg-clears-1330-nis-retirees-17-year-severance-allowance/?utm_source=telegram&utm_medium=social#google_vignette
