Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that any attempt to rig the 2019 Elections in the state will be met with very stiff resistance. Governor Wike also declared that aside negative assurances that there will be the rigging option, APC Rivers State wouldn’t have attempted to field candidates for the 2019 General election. The governor who spoke during an interview at the Government House Port Harcourt on Friday said that it is incumbent on the security agencies and INEC to be impartial. He said: “We want free and fair elections. We are therefore prepared to resist rigging. This is a solemn responsibility. Just take that as a bank draft. “The only way forward is for the votes of the people to count. It is important that the security agencies must not only be seen to be neutral, they must be neutral”. The governor added: “If not for the expectation to rig, there is no way that the APC will contemplate sponsoring candidates in Rivers State. “All the hope they have is in rigging through the security forces. If they attempt to rig, there will certainly be resistance”. The governor said that he is certain of a second term because his projects are scattered across the state and he has governed in line with his contract with the people. “When you put all our projects together, everybody is satisfied that we have done well enough to merit a second term. The projects that earned me the title Mr Projects speak for themselves. “The Vice President who conferred that name on me went beyond politics because of what he saw on ground. There is no local government area where we don’t have projects. We made promises and we have fulfilled the promises”, he said. He said that APC Federal Government has no meaningful projects on ground in Rivers State. The governor noted that the International Departure Terminal commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari was over 79 percent completed by the Jonathan administration, while funding was set aside through a loan. “The good thing that will happen in 2019 is for the PDP to win the elections. No Nigerian who wants to better his life will want the APC to win”, he said. Governor Wike said that he is still speechless that President Muhammadu Buhari refused to sign the amended Electoral Act to strengthen the Democratic Process. On security, Governor Wike noted that he is happy that issue of cultism has reduced fundamentally across the state. He said the killing of Don Wani and the signing of Anti-kidnapping and Anti-Cultism laws have helped in ensuring that criminals are checked. Commenting on the crisis in Rivers APC, Governor Wike said that though it is not his business, it is obvious it that it a fallout of the impunity perpetrated by the Minister of Transportation. He said that whatever the outcome, the PDP in the state will emerge victorious as it has effectively used the mandate of the Rivers people.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has called on the Police and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to commit themselves to credible polls in the interest of the nation. Governor Wike said it is the negative actions of the police and INEC who manipulate the Electoral Process that make it difficult for politicians to be held accountable by the electorate. Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 6 Calabar, Governor Wike said that politicians take advantage of the illegal electoral system to deny the people good governance. “Don’t allow yourselves to be used negatively to influence the Electoral Process. “Please, save Nigeria so that we can continue to remain united beyond 2019. The greater interest of the nation is paramount. You people make politicians not to be accountable. “If votes count, every politician will sit up. Here, our votes don’t count. People rely on police and INEC to get into office”. The governor noted that the illegal actions of the police and INEC generate violence in the political space. “Violence is caused when security agencies lay the scene for the rigging of elections. INEC manipulates the process and it leads to violence. “Our major problem in the country is the Police and INEC. It is the duty of the police to stop the crime of rigging”, Governor Wike said. He assured the Police that the State Government will always support them with the logistics and funding to fight crime. Earlier, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 6, Mr Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi assured the Rivers State Governor that the police will perform their responsibility professionally to ensure credible polls in 2019. He said that officers and men are receiving the required training to be neutral and professional during the polls. He commended the Rivers State Governor for his logistical and financial support which has assisted the police in carrying out her duties. The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 6 informed Governor Wike that the Zone will arrange a peace accord for security agencies, political leaders and INEC ahead of the 2019 elections.

deboysben:Supreme court will hear the matter on march 8 2019 by then APC has taken over rivers state.nothing spoil |
No shaking ,the main judgement will be given march 8 2019.the appeal to join was only stroke out not on the appeal given by justice worgu of high court in october |
The Court of Appeal Sitting in Port Harcourt today dismissed all appeals brought before it by the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Tonye Patrick Cole, Ojukaye Flag Amachree Ors against the decision of the Rivers State High Court nullifying the congresses and all indirect primaries conducted by APC in Rivers State. The following appeals were lodged before the Court of Appeal Port Harcourt against the decision of the State High Court: 1) Appeal 461 which is the substantive appeal against the Judgement of the Rivers High Court delivered on the 10th October, 2018. The court of Appeal dismissed this appeal on the ground of incompetence . The court held that being a pre-election matter, the appeal was filed out of time and it’s therefore statute- barred. 2) Joinder application by Mr Tonye Patrick Cole and and 48 others (being purported candidates of APC was emerged through the voided indirect primaries). This application was dismissed on the ground that one can’t appeal a matter he was not party to, especially when that person is already in serial contempt of court. 3) Ojukaye Flag Amachree and Ors (representing the party exco at all levels in Rivers State who emerged through the congresses conducted in defiance of a valid court order). This joinder application was similarly dismissed on the ground stated above. In a judgement delivered by the Chairman of the panel, Justice Abubakar Daati Yayaha, he stated that the appeal lacked competence in its entirety and went ahead to dismiss all. The effect of the verdict of the Court of Appeal is that the judgement delivered by Worgu J of the State High Court on the 10th of October, 2018, nullifying all the Indirect Primaries conducted in Rivers State by APC remains the law. It also means that the LGA congress of 12th of May, 2018; Ward Congress of of 19th of May, 2018; LGA congress of 20th of May, 2018 and the State congress of 21 of May, 2018, incredibly conducted by 4 Am in the morning which purportedly threw up Ojukaye as state Chairman remains voided.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has said that the refusal of President Muhammadu Buhari to sign the amended Electoral Act is a threat to the nation’s existence as it will generate deadly political tension in 2019. Governor Wike also declared that the whole essence of not signing the Electoral Act by President Buhari was for him to allegedly rig the 2019 elections. The Governor spoke at the Government House Port Harcourt during the visit of the Anglican Bishop of Niger Delta North, Wisdom Ihunwo. He said there was no certainty that there will be Nigeria after the 2019 General elections. Governor Wike said that President Muhammadu Buhari was aware that if he assents to the amended 2018 Electoral Act, he will lose the elections, adding that the APC was working against transparent and credible polls because they have been rejected by Nigerians. “This present administration does not not want the existence of one Nigeria. We don’t know if there will be Nigeria after the 2019 General elections. “The National Assembly tried to cure the defects of the Electoral Act that led to controversies during the 2015 elections. After the passage, the President kept on giving countless excuses why he wouldn’t sign the amended Electoral Act. “The whole essence of not signing the Electoral Act is to rig the 2019 General elections. And in the plot to rig the 2019 elections, Rivers State comes first and Akwa Ibom State is the second on their list. “Now, they don’t want to use the smart card readers because they want to sit down and write results. “It is painful that the President that says he is fighting corruption is leaving room for the rigging of the 2019 polls. There is no corruption worse than rigging. The President cannot set this country on fire”.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has called on the United States Government to mount pressure on the Federal Government against using the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to manipulate the 2019 elections. Addressing journalists after a meeting with the United States Consul General to Nigeria, Mr John Gray at the Government House Port Harcourt on Tuesday , the Rivers State Governor, said that the actions of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government indicate that they are not interested in credible polls. He said: “We are preaching for free and fair elections and violence free elections. I let them know that we stand for free and fair elections. We stand for violence free elections. “Our fear is that we don’t confidence that the Federal Government through INEC would want to conduct free and fair elections. “You know that the security agencies are partial. Even the refusal of the President to assent to the amended Electoral Act gives us the impression that they are not interested in free and fair elections. ” The governor added: “Not having free and fair elections portend doom and danger for this country.” Governor Wike called on President Muhammadu Buhari to rescind his decision and follow the path of honour to sign the amended Electoral Act. He said: “We believe that Mr President would rescind that decision and assent to the amended Electoral Act so that Nigerians will have confidence in the Electoral process. “The International Community has every role to play to impress on the President, security agencies particularly the police and INEC to be impartial during the elections.” The governor said that the unnecessary changes in the nation’s security architecture show that the Federal Government is working against credible polls. “Look at the changes in the security architecture in the country. Commissioners of Police are moved right, left and centre. In two days, some states have gotten four commissioners of Police. All these indicate that things may not be well in 2019”, he said. In his remarks; United States Consul General, Mr John Gray noted that the United States Government is committed to ensuring credible elections where the will of the people will prevail. He said : “What we talking about today is that all we are looking for as we enter the election season is free, fair, credible and peaceful elections. “The United States Government does not support any candidate. United States Government supports a clean fair process in which the choices of the Nigerian citizens come through

The Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki on Sunday said that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have all it takes to win next year’s general elections. Saraki said the party will not only sweep the elections in Kwara state, but will win the presidential election because the platform has strategists as leaders. He asked his supporters not to be afraid of the use of federal might in the forthcoming general elections, pointing out that he had confronted such situations in two previous elections and floored the incumbents. Saraki spoke at the inauguration of a 42-man Campaign Council for the the state PDP at ABS Mandate Constituency Office, Ilorin. The Senate President said while the 2019 election, like any other election, has its challenges, experience has shown that with the right tactics and strategies, the PDP will win the state again. He said: “Don’t be afraid, don’t create fears in your heart, I have heard all the talks of the opposition about using federal might. But we have seen it all. “We saw it in 2003, we saw it in 2015 or don’t you know that they used federal might in 2015? In 2015 with federal might we defeated them. It was you people that God used then and in 2019 with those who have come to join us we will defeat them again.” He, however, asked members of the Campaign Council to demonstrate utmost faithfulness in the discharge of their duties to achieve the desired results. “Every election has its challenges. But, we have what it takes to tackle it and once you are committed victory is ours”, he said, and tasked the party on the need to implement a rigorous campaign to ensure everyone is reached. He pleaded with aggrieved members of the PDP to sheath their sword and work for the party’s victory, promising that there would be a better deal for Nigerians under a government run by Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate. According to Saraki, it is only when the PDP is in power at the federal level that things can return to normal for suffering Nigerians and the hopes of the people properly addressed. https://www.google.com/amp/dailypost.ng/2018/12/09/pdp-will-defeat-apc-2019-saraki/amp/

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State have filed an application at the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt against the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state. The PDP is asking the court to make declarative injunctions in its favour that the APC in Rivers State does not have candidates for all elective positions for the 2019 general election. The PDP also wants the court to mandate the independent national electoral commission, INEC, not to recognise any candidate for the APC. Counsel to the PDP, Ferdinand Oshoke-Orbih, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, asked the court for accelerated hearing of the matter which was granted. On his part, counsel to the All Progressives Congress, Emenike Ebete said the court will determine whether the PDP has the right to seek for injunctions in an issue that concerns only the APC. The matter, which is before Justice J.K Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, was adjourned to December 11 for hearing.
