Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that the APC Federal Government through the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) has directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC ) to work with internet service providers to shutdown internet access during the forthcoming elections. Governor Wike said that shutting down internet access by the NSA and INEC is aimed at facilitating the rigging of the 2019 General elections. He spoke on Thursday during a courtesy visit by Savannah Centre Council on Peaceful and Violence Free in Nigeria at the Government House Port Harcourt . He said: “The National Security Adviser has met with INEC to ensure that internet service providers shutdown the internet, so that foreign bodies won’t see what’s happening in the country during the elections. “They will jam all the frequencies and internet services to stop real time communication during the elections. “This plot to rig the forthcoming elections is a recipe for violence. They will not succeed in whatever they are planning . The world will be informed about their criminal activities “. The governor said that the negative actions of the Buhari administration indicate that they will not accept defeat when they lose the forthcoming elections. He advised President Muhammadu Buhari to emulate Former President Goodluck Jonathan who placed Nigeria above personal consideration. “I don’t think this administration will willingly accept defeat. They should emulate Former President Goodluck Jonathan who lost elections and accepted the outcome. “There was no litigation. He went back home and did not generate crisis “, he said. Governor Wike said that Rivers people will not fold their hands and allow the APC Federal Government unleash violence and rig the 2019 elections. He regretted that the APC Federal Government has caged the Judiciary, making it difficult to determine electoral disputes in court. He argued that the conduct of credible elections rest squarely with security agencies and INEC. He said once the two agencies act within the law, the poĺls will be credible polls. Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Founder of Savannah Centre Council on Peaceful and Violence Free in Nigeria, Prof Ibrahim Gambari called on all stakeholders to work towards peaceful and credible polls. He said that the group is involved in extensive research and consultation to promote peace. He noted that peace and development are intertwined, hence they must be encouraged. Gambari urged Governor Wike to use his national contacts to enhance the culture of peace. Former Director-General, Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), Prof Oshita Oshita urged the governor to continue to work in the interest of peaceful polls.

DR UCHE OGAH FLOORS CHIEF IKECHI EMENIKE AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME AT THE COURT OF APPEAL. The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division has delivered an earth quaking judgement upholding the appeal by APC against the erroneous judgement delivered by the FCT High Court In the Ruling, court had directed INEC to recognize Chief Emenike as the candidate of APC in Abia for the 2019 general election taking place sometimes in March. Recall that both APC and Dr Uche Ogah appealed separately against the said judgement. The court at the last weekend fixed toddy for the hearing of the appeal of APC while that of Dr Uche Ogah is slated for tomorrow(which apparently may be disrupted due to the two days court boycott called by the Nigerian Bar Association as a result of the suspension of the Chief of Nigeria, Hon Justice Walter Onnoghen). Two of the major grounds of appeal of appeal of APC were denial of fair hearing and jurisdiction. Their argument was they were not allowed by the court to file in their defence as allowed by the rules of court and that the court erroneously dismissed their preliminary objection to the suit. On the issue of jurisdiction, APC argued that the purported election of Chief Emenike took place in Abia State and they wondered why Chief Emenike went on forum shopping to Abuja High Court for redress of his alleged grievance. The Court of Appeal in their considered judgement unanimously upheld the appeal of the ruling party which had conducted direct primaries in Abia State during which Dr Uche Ogah emerged as their rightful candidate. They had since submitted the name of Dr Uche Ogah to INEC which has accepted it waiting for the final publication on the 31st of January, 2019. With this judgement the fate of Chief Emenike is finally sealed in his quest to be the flag bearer of APC in Abia State for the 2019 general election. The coast for Dr Uche Ogah’s emergence as the next governor of Abia remains clear and clearer by the day. In a telephone conversation with our correspondent Dr Ogah thanked God for the well deserved victory at the court of appeal, he called on all Abians to troop out tomorrow to receive the leadership of the party that will be at Aba stadium tomorrow to flag off the presidential campaign of Mr President, President Mohammadu Buhari. In the same vein the APC gubernatorial flag bearer enjoined Chief Emenike to close ranks and work with the party in the State to liberate Abia from the scavengers and looters that have kept Abia terribly backwards for years.

Day 1: Buhari announces the suspension of Justice Walter Onnoghen. Expected Reaction: PDP would threaten fire and brimestone, internet sponsored posts will floor everywhere, ipob Yoots will open countless threads abusing Buhari, PDP will use their lobbyist to cause UK, US, EU to issue statements but they would call for caustion. Saraki and Dogara will issue statements condemning Buhari. NBA will issue statements. Many SANS will Condemn Buhari's Action. Day 2: The Acting CJN, will swear in the Election Tribunal members. The reality will start to sink in that a New CJN is actually in Charge. The rage will increase on the internet, however by this time with caution from Lawyers. Day 3: They would be pockets of protests in some embassies, though the turn out may not be more than 15 people. NBA will meet and issue another statements and unenforceable communique. Day 4: The Senate will reconvene to lament by members of the opposition. Oshiomole will meet with APC caucus before the plenary. At the end of the day, they would be incoherent motions at the floor of Senate. Then The FG will formally write the international community assuring them of preservation of rule of law and warn them to stop meddling in the internal affairs of Nigeria. Day 5 : Support for the president will start swelling, Lawyers will start giving different interpretation of issues. Onnoghen lawyers will approach the court for grievances. Meanwhile the acting CJN will get busy with work. Day 6 : PDP will resume Campaign amidst wailing and name calling. INEC will intensify preparation for the Elections. Day 7: Onnoghen is forgotten, everybody becomes fine. |

Olodo see the ruling here, its about the congress not APC name on the ballot The Supreme Court on Monday reserved ruling on the competence of the appeal on the legality of the primaries conducted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State. The apex court had asked the parties in the suit to address it on the competence of the appeal after the appellants led by Mr Umar Abdullahi withdrew the appeal. He also asked the court to enter a judgment dismissing it because it had been overtaken by events, since it ought to have been heard before January 1, 2019. Abdullahi’s position was not opposed by the counsel to the APC, Mr Lateef Fagbemi, who informed the court that parties were at liberty to withdraw their appeal. He, however, said the withdrawal cannot be anchored on the main appeal. The panel of the Supreme Court led by Justice Musa Datijjo, thereafter, struck out the case. It also asked parties to address the court on the competence of the appeal at the Appellate Court which led to the instant appeal. The apex court informed the parties that a date for the ruling would be communicated to them. |
