PoliticsWe Will Not Allow The Use Of N-power Personnel As Ad-hoc Staff Says Wike by Pastorlarry(op): 7:54pm On Jan 21, 2019
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that the state will not allow the use of N-power personnel as INEC Ad-Hoc Staff during the 2019 General Elections.

Addressing the PDP Campaign Rally for Ikwerre Local Government Area on Monday at Omagwa, Governor Wike said that the N-power list is concocted to favour APC with a view to rigging the 2019 General Elections.

He said: “I hear INEC wants to use N-power personnel as Ad-Hoc Staff for the elections. This is a ploy to rig the elections.

“N-power personnel will not be allowed to serve as INEC Ad-Hoc Staff in Rivers State. If you bring them, we will chase them away”.

Governor Wike said all Nigerians should share in the blame of allowing a man without knowledge of the economy to emerge as President of the country.

“The mass unemployment across the country is due to the emergence of Buhari. All Nigerians should share in the blame for their suffering.

“We took our future and mandate and handed over to people who don’t understand job creation “, he said.

Governor Wike charged the people to vote for the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar for his understanding of the economy and ability to create jobs.

He said: “All his life, Atiku Abubakar has been involved in job creation. He is one of the highest employers of labour in Nigeria”.

While urging the people to vote for all PDP candidates, Governor Wike said that during his second term he would construct Omerelu and Omagwa Internal Roads.

Rivers State PDP Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah performed the traditional handing over of flags to PDP candidates. He appealed to the people of the area to remain steadfast.

Former Rivers State Governor, Sir Celestine Omehia said Governor Wike is a true son of Ikwerre who has transformed the state and the people are happy with him.

He said in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Governor Wike executed key projects that have improved the economy of the area.

“Wike is our son in whom we are well pleased. Ikwerre people are happy that you have kept your promises”, he said.

Omehia said Governor Wike in the course his first term executed key projects for the good people of Ikwerre Local Government Area.

Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Mr Nwanosike Samuel said that the use of security agencies to rig elections in the area will not work in 2019.

PDP House of Representatives Candidate for Ikwerre/ Emohua Federal Constituency, Mr Boniface Emerengwa said that the people will overwhelmingly vote for Governor Wike and other PDP candidates.

Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University, Prof Blessing Didia said Ikwerre people will reciprocate the kind gesture of Governor Wike through their votes.

PoliticsABE WARNS Againts Abusive Language On Social Media by Pastorlarry(op): 10:11pm On Jan 18, 2019
Senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe has warned against the use of abusive words on the social media.

Abe in a statement issued on the platform of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) social media platform said such comments would not help the party in anyway.

He said, ” I have read through a lot of comments on this platform and do not consider them helpful. Granted that there are those who feel the Minister of Transportation was wrong and there are equally those who felt that I (Senator Abe) was wrong.

“I appeal to you all to please stop abusing yourselves on this platform. Enough is enough. If the Minister still believes he can save his candidates, he should be allowed to pursue his options in peace,” he said.

Abe who is the leading gubernatorial aspirant of the APC in Rivers state maintained that from the outset, he saw as unnecessary the in-fighting in the party since it was orchestrated by those who wanted to use it as an opportunity to rise while fighting to bring others down.

“I remember that Hon Loolo Ibieneye correctly predicted that the current road on which we (the party) were being led will lead to disaster. And, I believed that that road was wrong ab initio, and I said so, we must continue our quest in peace.”

He queried the role most party members played and their contributions when the party was being derailed.

“Those who are interested in saving the party should quit the blame game and name calling,’ stating, “Let us focus on what we can do to gather ourselves together,” Senator Abe stated.

He admonished party faithfuls in the mist of the current travails of the need for a new mind set to restore confidence and hope in the party, saying, “We must preach and act forgiveness and tolerance.”

“Rightly or wrongly we are in a quagmire before the entire country. It is clear that no one person, not myself nor the Minister have answers, but I am committed to the party. Let us talk constructively and look for ways forward,” Senator Abe stated.

PoliticsRivers State House Of Assembly Passes 2019 Appropriation Bill by Pastorlarry(op): 7:24am On Jan 12, 2019
The Rivers House of Assembly on Friday passed the proposed N480 billion Appropriation Bill for the 2019 fiscal year made up of N157.12 billion recurrent expenditure and N323.28 capital expenditure.

The passage followed the presentation of the report of the House Committee on Appropriation/Supply by the Chairman, Mr Christian Ahiakwo, (PDP-Ogba/Egbema/Andoni) Constituency 1.

Mr Sam Ogeh representing Emohua Constituency move the motion for the adoption of the report and was seconded by Adams Dima representing Okrika Constituency.

Following the third reading of the bill and passage, the Speaker, Mr Ikwunyi-awaji Ibani commended the committee for its commitment and ensuring proper examination of the proposed budget.

Ibani said that the committee having studied extensively the provisions of the budget agreed that it was a balanced financial document for the year.

“In doing so, members of the committee highlighted the various sectoral allocations contained in the 2019 appropriation bill.

“Some observations were made in the process and the committee agreed that the appropriation bill as presented by the governor was a balanced financial document, having taken into consideration the economic realities in Nigeria today.

“They agreed that the forecast and projections made be considered, which is a little above N480bn as appropriate for the 2019 financial year,” he said.

The speaker further noted that members of the house considered the report of the appropriation committee based on funding, observations and recommendations of the committee.

Ibani said that some of the requests identified by the committee showed that the estimated N480 billion could also take care of such requests during the implementation process.
