raumdeuter: Give an example of a successful football CEO so we can see their football profile
Is Gill a Football CEO and what makes him one and Woodward not He just pointed out what a well-managed club will not do and you're still asking him questions... Don't be too fixated on the role of the CEO here, what those against the management have hammered on is the whole management structure from CEO, DOF, Chief scout, CFO etc...I want INEOS to fix all of that so that they'll be no excuse going forward because if na spending, we dey spend but just not rightly... |

raumdeuter: All these talks of football heads is just another excuse giving exercise and has nothing to do with the clubs failure. Its like failing a job interview and blaming potholes on the road
Is Omar Berrada more of a football person than Ed Woodward?
Ed Woodward was the CEO when Man Utd was successful under Ferguson, His non football background did not matter then Who knows the CEO of Liverpool and is he a football person? Billy Hogan was a Sales guy for FSG The current CEO of my club is Jan Dreesen a former Banker The current CEO of Arsenal was an Accountant (Like Woodward) who studied Economics at Oxford his career, he was former Strategy Consultant for Delloitte which is similar to what Woodward did at PwC before joining Man Utd Florentino Perez was a Civil Engineer before he got involved with Real Madrid Juan Laporta was a lawyer before he was voted President of Barcelona
Were basically fans who had other careers before they got involved in the football club
This City success was because they got Pep Guardiola, They had other coaches before him who were not successful. Despite the Omar Berrada being there
I am sure someone will say its because of the football person that made him target Pep Guardiola. No anyone who casually followed football for 3yrs between 2008 and 2015 will know that Pep Guardiola is a game changer Dayo, I have always argued here that we have spent as much as our rivals and have engaged the services of good managers over time but some others feel that our poor recruitment of players (overpaying and in some cases, signing players that are not good enough) points to the board and to be honest, they do have a point. One of the strong proponents of the logic that we need to overhaul the management team is the first to sound pessimistic here hence my post. I just want us to try again with a different setup at the management level to see if it will improve our recruitment process...In recruitment, the focus is on incoming and outgoing. |

The day Luiz was supposed to lift his country in front of millions of fans, he was lifting Neymar jersey

When Neymar got to Europe he won the treble as top scorer David Luiz has also won all those trophies. Neymar has featured in subsequent world cups, what did he achieve? I am only bringing Neymar into the argument not because I think he is a bad player but to point out to you how your logic fails when applied to other players. |

Now, the club has gotten one of the top guys at City yet una dey no dey happy...I am sure when we get in a director of football and other competent football guys some of you will shift the goalpost.
We have seen it play out before. The board refuse to sign some players the coaches recommend, and the fans complain. The board gets another coach and gives him the power to decide who comes in and who goes yet the fans still complain pointing fingers at the club's management team, accusing them of being clueless on how best to manage a top team and now, the board are doing what we agreed is the right thing to do but una dey preach pessimism. |

At least now, the pretentious lens of objectivity and unbiasedness falls away.
Key take away from here; Every single soul who supports this wicked government has a personal agenda, be it sentimental or material. BlueRayDick: Tunji ojo used his position as a public officer(Minister) to get another public officer (Betta Edu) award a contract to a company he is most likely the majority shareholder. The law didn't say it must be a ministry u control . As long as he isn't part of the procurement committee (Vendor verification committee/bid opening/technical evaluation committee/financial evaluation committee/contract award committee) then he doesn't have a case to answer...If it was his ministry, all he would need to produce is the document where he acknowledged that his being a member of the Committee would conflict with his interest. Once he makes it known that he has an interest in the company, he will be excused from being part of the process...This is assuming the contract was from his ministry... One can lay claim to him using his position to influence things but there's no proof whatsoever however, it is best to avoid such scenarios as a public servant. |

DissTroy: I've always insisted here that a lot of monies made by state governments do not reflect in IGRs. Just local-search "DissTroy IGR state government".
Then there's the very lucrative Cross River - Akwa Ibom stretch of the ocean. The Cameroon - Calabar - Oron - Ibeno belt. Shark fishing and fishing trawlers are bought with government monies but never reflected in the IGR. Monies made from the blue economy are never reflected in financial statements. It's the reason I pay more attention to what is happening in my state. Governors will be quick to point to the sharing formula at the national level where the FG takes the greater percentage but they never talk about the revenue they generate in their states which is not reflected in the financial records of the state. Most States generate 3 times the IGR they report the rest is stolen. |

The proceeds probably don't get reported in govt earnings The timber is from Boki LGA of Cross River...Successive state governments come in and get their people to run the illegal logging business... BlueRayDick: Can u imagine ? I believe the reason why states and LGA's allow such illegal mining/exploration to go on with their blessing is due to the law that says everything beneath the ground belongs to FG.
They prefer tapping those resources illegally without losing a large chunk of the proceeds to FG who will only give them whatever minute percentage is stated in the constitution as derivatives. They prefer having greedy & unscrupulous foreigners mine it and remit sizeable part of the proceeds to them.
U will be surprised that after some successful raids on those illegal gold mining site by ur neighbor and his team, those financing the illegal mining might either bring him in to arrange for his settlement or they silence him I did not want to add the bolded but it is the fact. BlueRayDick: The state government is aware, they just do not want to accept their complicity in the tragic event. Below was what the security adviser to the governor of Oyo State said when he was on Channels TV: I do not get why the solid minerals we have are left to the hands of illegal miners when the government should be raking in billions of dollars from the sale of these minerals. I reckon the money we get from crude oil exploration is not comparable to what we'd get from the vast mineral resources around the country. Maybe the politicians have decided that the oil money is for the country but the money from solid minerals is for their pockets alone because I don't understand why the government will sit and watch so-called illegal miners doing their thing. |
