1. What is the role of church ushers?
A role is a part that one plays in the system.
For example, an actor or actress has a role in the play or film. That role contributes to the entire story line of that play or that film.

In my professional life, I have the role of pastor, father, missionary, writer, trainer, business owner. These are in no particular order, but show that I play many different roles in my life.

With this understanding of the word
role, what is the role of a church usher? Here is my best attempt:

The role of a church usher is to help your first time guests, repeat visitors, and members experience the sacredness and joy of a worship service .

The church usher role is one of many different roles in the system of church hospitality . They help create a great hospitality experience that your first time church visitor or long term member will have on a given day.
Church greeters play a role.
Children’s ministry leaders play a role.
The worship band, preaching pastor, and other volunteers and staff all play different roles in helping your members and first time guests experience a church worship service.
Within this role, the various areas of responsibility will differ, depending on the level of formality and different duties that your ushers will have.

Areas of responsibility for the role of church ushers
Generally, the ministry of church ushers focuses on the following areas of responsibilities (if they occur in your church):
Assist in the seating members and visitors
Provide care for the needs of the pastor during the service.
Attend to the needs of the visiting speaker or guests of honor.

The Police in Enugu State say they have arrested a fleeing member of an armed group that allegedly killed the Enugu Deputy Governor’s orderly, Sgt. Helen Sunday.

This is contained in a statement by the command’s spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu on Friday in Enugu.

Amaraizu said the fleeing member of the group was arrested on May 27 in Lagos State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the orderly was killed in Enugu on May 9 by a group of armed men while on her way home from work.

The police had on May 10 stormed the group’s hideout and engaged the suspects in a gun duel.

Two people suspected to be members of the group were arrested while others escaped.

The police said the deceased’s Infinix smart phone, amongst other items, was recovered from the hideout after the shootout.

Amaraizu said the anti-kidnapping unit of the command arrested the suspect via a well-coordinated operation.

He said police operatives trailed the suspect to a hideout at Apapa in Lagos State, where he was allegedly receiving treatment.

“It is believed that the treatment was for bullet wounds sustained on May 10 when a shoot-out ensued between members of the armed group and police at Lomalinda and Amorji Nike areas of Enugu.

“On that day, two of the gang members were fatally injured and apprehended while others believed to have been hit by bullets escaped,’’ he said.

The police in Ghana have arrested about four people who allegedly murdered and lynched a soldier in Ghana after mistaking him for an armed robber.

Four out of the five prime suspects have been arrested in connection with the lynching of a Captain of the Ghana Army have been sent to the Central Regional Police Headquarters in Cape Coast.


According to Adom News, the fifth suspect who sustained bullet wounds during a struggle with the lynched Captain Maxwell Mahama is also at the hospital.




They were paraded before the media by the police at the Regional Headquarters of the Police in Cape Coast as part of the investigations.

Some security detectives have started investigating an alleged social security fraudster, who hid the corpse of a 90-year-old woman in a freezer for ten years to collect her pension.

A woman kept her dead mother hidden in a freezer for ten years so she could continue to claim an old age pension equivalent to £1700-a-month, prosecutors revealed today.

The 90-year-old’ corpse was found after detectives started investigating the alleged social security fraudster, who is 55 and cannot be named for legal reasons.

She was living in a detached house in the picturesque village of Horsarrieu, close to Pau, in South West France, with her mother’s remains at the end of the garden.

‘They were hidden in a freezer, and there had been no report of the mother’s death,’ said a prosecuting source in nearby Mont-de-Marsan, capital of the Landes department.

‘The freezer was not connected to the electricity supply going into the house. It was just a hiding place,’ the source added.

The suspect was first interviewed by gendarmes on Tuesday, and claimed that her mother had died seven years ago.

Investigators noticed, however, that there had been no medical fees claimed by the mother since 2007, suggesting that the time of death was more likely to be a decade ago.

The Mirror reports that all the mother’s benefits arrangements, including drawing an old age pension, continued as normal throughout that time.

At the time of death, the pair were living some 200 miles away, close to Toulouse, which means that the woman would have transported the corpse in secret when they moved to Horsarrieu in July 2016.

Police have evidence that the suspect had put her own picture on her mother’s driving licence – an offence that led to a search of the property. The corpse was found wrapped in a tarpaulin, with old clothes used to hide it.

An autopsy was due to be held on Wednesday to try to establish whether the mother had died of natural causes, or whether foul play was involved.

Today I'm talking about the types of neigbours found in Hostels, Off campus Hostels to be precise, Let's begin Note: It's not a generalization,
most students fall under on of the following:-

(1) The Borrower
These set of neighbours are very friendly and nice at first, Then they reveal their true self when you become close to them, they start by innocently borrowing things from you, and you being a good neighbor happily comply. but they see this as an invitation to keep borrowing your Stuff, even to personal objects, It gets to a point where they just help themselves without asking you. the good ones return borrowed objects in a damaged state, while others don't return them at all

(2) The Churchy Neighbour
These set of neighbours see themselves as the holy of Holy's, they don't mingle with others whom they tag as worldly people. their major concern is Church, Church, Church

(3) The Gladiator
These set of neighbours are like kratos in The God of war video game, they keep fighting over little issues. everyone try their best to avoid their them.

(4) The DJ
These set of neighbours are well known for their habit of playing loud music, they always play the sound system with the settings on the highest volume, thus making it difficult for other people to sleep or concentrate while reading. they don't care if they're disturbing other people around.

(5) The Yahoo Guy$$$$$$
These guys are highly respected by other neighbours due to their financial level, they put on good clothes, have the most furnished apartments, drive good cars, and they know how to ball .....

(6) The Party Goer
To These set of neighbours, everyday is Friday.. all they care about is Party, party party. and they are the ones who always return late at night and knock the gate for those inside to let them into the compound.

(7) The Run town
These Set of neigbours are also known as hustlers, they get the highest number of august visitors... lol (if u know what I mean) most times the visitors stay over night playing (temple run) with them.

( The Food hunter
These set of neighbours are really good at finding and devouring food, they secretly cook their food, but openly devour the food of other people, when you're cooking, they won't come into your apartment, but the moment the food is ready they will just stroll in and lie down on your bed....I don't know how they do it, maybe they use food detecting radar.....

(9) The Psycho
This neighbor tends to keep to themselves. Their blinds are always shut and you never really see them except for the times that they are peering through the window at you. On the odd occasion that you do catch them outside, they will never return your hello, but instead give you a silent cold stare.

(10) The Gossipers
These ones are the BBC and CNN of the hostel, they know about the latest happenings withing and outside the hostel, they know those dating each other, keeping malice with each other, e.t.c, They pretend to be your best friend so that they can scoop information from you to give to their next victim,....

(11) The Nice Neigbour
These set of people are nice and loved by all, they are well balanced.......

These set of lecturers consists of advanced men, who keep comparing the standard of Education they had back then to the one we presently have, they are very disciplined and highly respected by everyone. They have acquired so much experience in the field of academics, They give students lots of assignments....
(4) The Modern Guys
These set of people consists of Young lecturers, who haven't spent much time in the profession. they are cool with students and gadgets. They know what's up. and most lazy students pray for them to invigilate examinations, because when they are around, things happen.....
(5) The Preachers $$$
These set of Lecturers keep preaching for the payment of tithes, Lol, they normally use words like "Heaven help those who help themselves" and
"Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar" Rich students don't bother to read for exams in courses handled by such lecturers
Lastly
(6) The Turbo Charged engines
These set of lecturers keep their eagle eyes active in the search for beautiful female students, They can see through the clothes of female students with their xray vision ability, They are the ones who invite ladies into their office and keep mounting pressure on female students to sleep with them with the threat of failing the students should they refuse, that's how they service their turbo charged engine

40% of the time people die in fires. It's because they just stay in their room and hide in their closet or even under their bed. Sometimes pets will hide under the bed or even inside a wall. Little kids get so scared that they hide in the closet. The next thing you know, they're trapped. A fire cannot happen without the three parts of the fire triangle. The parts are heat, oxygen, and fuel. Follow these steps to escape.
Steps
(1) Install a fire alarm and a sprinkler. Get a fire extinguisher if you can. Change your fire alarm battery occasionally and test your fire alarm afterwards. Plan your escape and practice it!

(2)Plan a fire escape route and practice it once a year, change smoke alarm batteries twice a year, and test your smoke alarm once a month. Be sure to go over basic safety tips. Ensure that everyone in the house knows where to meet.
The meeting place should be in the front yard. Don't do it in the back because you'll lose sight of your family. Plus, it's hard to get in the front without going inside the house.

(3)Listen for the smoke alarm . After it rings,
don't stay in your room. You must get out immediately.

(4)Go close to your door. With the back of your hand, not your palm, feel the door. If it's cool to the touch, open it slowly with your back facing the door but also looking where you're going. If it's hot dial 911 . If there is not a phone in the room, get a flashlight or something light colored and wave it at the window signaling for help. If it's not cool and not hot, just medium, open it slowly as shown when it's cool.

(5)Crawl down on the floor after opening it. The cleanest air is found at the bottom. Get out of where the fire is, and leave the house.
Most fires do not kill you by burning you to death or falling debris. Fire needs gas, heat and oxygen. You also needed oxygen to breathe. The fire takes in more oxygen than you do. The floor gives you the most oxygen so if you need to breathe, crouch down.

(6)Go to a neighbor's house and seek emergency help .

(7)Wait until the fire department comes. Follow any instructions they give you.

The second generation of the Kia Cadenza hits the US market, promising to offer better handling, more refinement and improved quality.
The new Cadenza is based on a new lighter chassis that’s more than 35 per cent stiffer than the one used by the outgoing model. This is not only improving the handling character of the new model but also helps in achieving a better score in the NVH department.
Power comes from a revised version of the company’s 3.3-litre V6 petrol engine offering 290hp and 253lb ft of peak torque. Kia’s first FWD-based eight-speed automatic gearbox promises a more engaging driving experience as well.

In what may be perceived as a supremacy battle, two factions of Boko Haram terrorists are waging war against each other.
Since the appointment of Abu Musab al-Barnawi as the new leader of Boko Haram by ISIS, there has been disquiet within the rank of the terrorists as Abubakar Shakau who has been the leader of the group insists he is still in charge.

In a video by the Wilayat Gharb Afriqiya which is recognises the leadership of Barnawi, the group showed its military strength by firing machine guns and a suicide bomber drives a vehicle into what is possibly the rank of Shakau’s boys and explodes in the distance.
The group then shows off bodies of dead soldiers from the faction they now consider their enemy.

Shekau has insisted that his rival does not have what it takes to lead the terrorist group as “it is not possible for a Muslim to profess his faith without kicking against an infidel system”.
In a statement he released, he claimed he was deceived.

This is our stand, and we are still in the cause of Jama’atu Ahl as-Sunnah li-Da’awati wal-Jihad and Allah will help us. May Allah strengthen us to remain in this cause. We are still members of Jama’atu Ahl as-Sunnah li-Da’awati wal-Jihad, no matter what they call us, we remain what we are. No matter what we have our basis in Quran.
No matter what they call us, what we aspire is to justify our ideology in the Quran which is ultimate because we have not derailed. We are on and in the future, we will not accept any emissary except the one we can attest he is sincere and truthful for Allah and His cause.

In the first place, we sat and I was deceived, they said I should write my ideology to be taken if there is a mistake they will point out and bring back. They now deceive me, and it is base on some authorities and today I found out that there is one who is following principles of infidel which they want me to follow, and Prophet has stopped us against such.
We are still in the cause of Allah and will never depart in the struggle to establish an Islamic caliphate and standing by Islam. We will continue to work for the cause of Allah no going back. Anyone that caused this, no problem, if it’s possible may Allah show him the correct path and if it is not so may Allah protect us from his mischief.”

In continuation of its crackdown on the activities of illegal crude oil thieves and pipeline vandals, the Nigerian Navy has arrested a marine vessel (MV) Star Shrimper for trying to evade interrogation about the contents it was carrying, as well as the destination it was headed.
A statement signed by the Director of Naval Information, Commodore Christian Ezekobe noted that the vessel and its crew are being investigated adding, “The vessel was alleged to have tried to evade interrogation when intercepted by the Nigerian Navy Vessel, with an unclear reason for its action”.
Disclosing that the vessel was arrested by the Nigerian Navy Ship Nwamba on 13 August 2016, at about 1000 hours, Ezekobe reiterated the Nigerian Navy’s resolve to eliminate all forms of economic sabotage and criminal activities in the maritime areas.
Furthermore, the Navy said on 10 August 2016, a patrol team deployed by NNS Jubilee raided an illegal refinery site at Ikoh Imoh Community in Akwa-Ibom State.
“During the operation, the patrol team destroyed a Cotonou boat laden with suspected stolen crude oil, 103 drums of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and 2 motorcycles.
“Similarly, on 12 August 16 at about 0630 hours, a patrol team deployed by NNS Delta raided several illegal refinery sites along Jones Creek in Delta State.
“During the raid, the patrol team destroyed unquantifiable amount of stolen crude oil and illegally refined AGO.”
