Go and tell your baba (or if you are the one trying to campaign now) that he will never be president of Nigeria. We don't want thieves as leaders anymore. He has already caused enough harm to millions of innocent Nigerians with all his loots. #Nigeriashallriseagain

Politics / Hospitalized Wife Of Nigeria’s Junior Minister For Labor James Ocholi Dead by patrotic9gerian: 7:47pm On Mar 06, 2016
The wife of James Ocholi, the Nigerian junior Minister for Labor who died today in an auto crash between Kaduna and Abuja, has also been confirmed dead.

Mrs. Ocholi, who was evacuated from the scene of the accident to a local hospital in Doka, Kaduna State, was confirmed dead a few minutes after arriving at the hospital.

A source at the Kaduna State government told our correspondent that the death of Mrs. Ocholi brings the casualty number in the horrific accident to three. Mr. Ocholi, who was traveling on a private visit to Kaduna in company of his wife and first son, died when his driver slammed on the brakes of his Lexus SUV car while at top speed.

A source told SaharaReporters that the driver slammed on the brakes after receiving a radio message from the security car behind the minister’s main vehicle alerting him to a low pressure on one of the back tires. The driver’s panicked reaction precipitated an accident as the security vehicle then rammed into the minister’s vehicle, which somersaulted several times, instantly killing Mr. Ocholi and his first son. Mrs. Ocholi was subsequently pronounced dead after she was taken to a hospital.

A source disclosed that the bodies of Mr. Ocholi and his family were being transported to a morgue in Abuja.

The Former president posted on his Facebook Page

"On behalf of my family and I, I would like to wish all Nigerians a Happy New Year. We are all brothers and sisters born from the womb of one Nigeria and as I have said previously, we would not be Nigerians if God did not will it. Having found ourselves as Nigerians by the divine providence of God, let us celebrate our Nigerianness and make 2016 our turning point year in which we embrace each other and work as a team to advance the frontiers of Nigeria in every field of human endeavour. In the 80s, our people sang and danced to the hit song 'Nigeria go survive'. I am convinced that in 2016, Nigeria will not only survive, she will also thrive and help drive the peace, prosperity and unity of all her people. This is something we can all look forward to in the New Year and beyond. May God bless you and may God bless Nigeria. GEJ."

This man always come up portray himself as a patriotic Nigerian as his major achievement in office for 6 years is conceding defeat. Dear GEJ, please stop sending us messages as if you love Nigeria. You lead Nigeria for 6 years and under your watch, more than 13,000 Nigerians where helplessly murdered and yet you did nothing about it. Under your watch, we recorded a high level of impunity and corruption. Our country was crashing under your watch yet you did nothing about it... Please we dont need all your beautiful messages as you had the chance to make life better for the Nigeria whom you claim to love and yet did little or nothing to make life meaningful for NIGERIANS once again...

Troops of 7 Division Garrison Nigerian Army in Operation LAFIYA DOLE, yesterday made a remarkable progress by arresting a Boko Haram terror kingpin, Mr John Trankil, at Kasuwar Shanu in Maiduguri metropolis.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect said that 9 of them were sneaked into the Maiduguri armed with AK 47 assault rifle each and a Hilux vehicle laden with 20 Improvised Explosive Devices meant to be detonated at some selected targets in the city.

The Theatre Commander operation LAFIYA DOLE, Major General Yusha'u Mahmood Abubakar, commended the efforts of the troops and renewed call for the troops and the public to be more vigilant and security conscious particularly at all check points, markets, worship centres, motor parks and schools.

In a related development, troops of 21 Brigade Nigerian Army, while on offensive operations on Boko Haram terrorists location, with the support from the Nigerian Airforce discovered and destroyed the terrorists' Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and Rocket making factory along Bama-Gonin Kurmi within the outskirts of Bama town, Borno State.

The items recovered includes gas cylinders, welding machine, pipes and poles. Others include locally made rocket shells, plenty of assorted chemicals, unprimed IEDs and various technical and laboratory equipment suspected to be stolen from schools' laboratories around Bama before they were dislodged from the area.

The 'groom and rooster' part caught my interest, OP.

Can you possibly elaborate on any role (if any) this rooster might play in the marriage ceremony? Like, is it customary to kill and feast on it as part of the marriage rites?

Radoillo...

The rooster stands as a symbol of acceptance or rejection. In some cultures, the palmwine is used to indicate this but for the Idomas, if the bride accepts the rooster, it signifies that she is willing to be with the groom all the days of her life. She also has the authority to kill the rooster and eat as it is just a special gift by tradition from the one who loves her...
Culture / Six (6) Major Interesting Facts About The Idoma People Of Nigeria by patrotic9gerian: 9:01am On Oct 15, 2015
The Idoma culture is perhaps one of the most fascinating cultures in Nigeria. Exceptionally proud of their native heritage, the Idoma people have preserved many of their ancestors’ traditions, a number of them present in their mixture of elaborate traditional tales, artistic expressions, music and varied culture elements.

Like any other society, Idoma people reveal their customs, traditions, beliefs, norms and lifestyle through the distinctive behavioural traits.

1) The Idoma people are not only found in Benue state

The popular idea is that the Idoma are an ethno-linguistic group primarily found in the western areas of Benue State, Nigeria. This is because they are the second largest group in the state and occupy 9 local government areas (L.G.A.’s) which include: Ado, Agatu, Apa, Obi,Ohimini, Ogbadibo, Oju, Okpokwu & Otukpo . Aside from the western parts of benue, this tribe have settlements in other parts of the country, including Nassarawa and Cross Rivers States. The men are obliged by tradition to pound yam for their wives, Unlike other cultures where the woman is expected to perform all culinary chores, the Idoma men are not always exempted.

2) The people strongly believe in the ‘Alekwu spirit’

With the advent of Christianity and other foreign religions, the traditional belief systems of most ethnic groups in the country has been influenced by western practices.

However, a majority of the Idoma people still believe strongly in the Alekwu , which is seen as a link between the living and the dead. They host an annual ‘Aje Alekwu’ festival where traditional religious practitioners commune and make sacrifices in worship of their ancestors across the land.

The Idomas have strong attachment to the worship of Alekwu-spirit of the ancestors which is believed to stand as an invisible watchdog of the family and communities while checkmating vices like adultery, theft and murder.

3) The groom and the rooster

While the marriage rites and customs of the Idoma people is not unlike that of the Ibos and some other south-eastern cultures, there are specific aspects that clearly distinguish their tradition.

One of those specific aspects is the fact that the groom and his family have to present the bride with a rooster and some money on the marriage day after the dowry has already been paid. If she accepts, it is a sign of approval and disinterest if she reject the gift. While there are no certain reasons to justify the need for a rooster, it remains an interesting part of the ceremony.

4) Language Diversity

Classified as a minority ethnic group and often mistaken to be part of the Igbo tribe, the Idoma people are known for one language – Idoma, which is classified in the Akweya subgroup of the Idomoid languages of the Volta–Niger family.

With a population estimated to be about 3.5 million, varied dialects have over time emerged from the umbrella of this mother-tongue and they include ‘Western Idoma’ chiefly spoken by the Okpokwu and Ogbadibo local government areas; ‘Central Idoma’ spoken by Otukpo and Ohimini people; ‘Southern Idoma’ largely spoken by Ado communities and ‘Northern Idoma’ spoken by the Agatu & Apa regions.

5) The Okoho Soup

The Idoma people are known for their love of food, as there is an annual food festival inBenue State to celebrate women and the various traditional cuisines.

Most popular among their delicacies is the Okoho soup which is made with the peculiar Okoho plant, bush meat and many other ingredients.

6) The Colour

The traditional colour of the Idoma people is the red and black

Hello guys, I'm here to warn everyone and most especially those in the Roman Catholic Church to come out of the Jesuit order today, or face eternal punishment.

The Roman Catholic Church is a pagan religion and not Christians. They serve their master who is the devil (lucifer). The pope Francis is also the beast in the Revelation:17. He might be coming to Africa to talk about peace, and sustainable development, as well as religious tolerance. Please don't be deceived by his false charity. All Catholics will go to hell, if they ignorantly refuse to heed to this warning.
Change your ways now that the era of mercy is available.
Come out of The Roman catholic (Babylon the great)

Be careful of the things you say for they can stand against you on the judgment throne of God. Be wise..

They use to say that experience is the best teacher....lol

I can't even get married to a lady that dated someone for more than 3 years unless in some scenario where something bad happened to the other guy which stopped the relationship half way.

Truth be told - When you've passed through a process either legally or not it is a binding factor on how your general outlook on life is and would become in the long run .A woman or a man that that cohabited will no longer be a novice to the day to day ups and downs of living together with the opposite sex.

If one must get married then it is important to be on the same level when it comes to your knowledge of what should be obtainable in a union and not one party having a lot of experience while the other one is still in kindergarten. That is a recipe for a disaster.

Nyz Contributions bro. It has come to my knowledge that finding that novice as you are is always difficult. Life generally presents the opposite of you especially in relationships. The good fall in love with the bad and vice versa. Lets see how one can condition the mind. Tnks

Ever since I left Nigeria two years ago, I found myself falling for a foreigner. I have never been into any relationship before but my heart feels special when ever I sight this girl. But after critical thinking, I made up my mind that if I must ask her out then I must get set to marry her cos I can't date a girl that I cannot marry. But do you guys know the problem, She has a boyfriend and not only that, they live together like husband and wife. I am 99% sure that she likes me and we have been chatting too all this while but I am not sure if I can date a lady that has cohabited.

Guys can you marry a Lady that has lived with another man? What are the possible negative effects that may come out of this union after marriage? State any benefit that may come out too if you have any...

If you want to suppress Boko Haram, don't post their videos when they are released unless they contain vital information.
This type of news should never be suppressed. Ignoring it is like pretending it didn't happen and it is hurtful to the family of the victims and to the victims who survived. When stuff like this is posted the government should take note and do something about it.
If all is not well, we must not pretend that all is well.
I strongly believe that the govt of PMB is fully aware of these statistics and he is fully dedicated and committed to put an end to insurgency. Let us give them little time to work and see results. If they relax, then we hit them up with things like this but for now, this is unnecessary as I believe PMB is a determined president. God bless PMB, God bless Nigeria, God bless Africa...
