Omakraid: Congrats mummy. Some of these hospitals are supposed to be shut down because money is priority to them than human life, leaving you unattended to for CS refusal is very bad but thank God you and baby are okay I am pretty sure they didn't leave her "wallowing". For most women with prior CS scar, they cannot aid labor for them for risk of rupture. Labor has to progress very naturally, and at 4cm with so much pain, the risk must have been high for them to quickly suggest they move into the theatre. Most times, labor progress is very slow, very painful, and very risky too, and it can only be recommended when there is appropriate devices to monitor such labor which is very few here in Nigeria. |

Ayoolajumoke: Good evening mamas.
Please who has experienced grade 3 placenta maturity at week 32 or earlier?
I went on google and some of what I found out are scary. Most times, based on the mother's medical health history, and the fetal wellbeing, it is not a cause for concern if baby is doing well. However, your doctor may need to monitor and evaluate both yourself and the baby constantly. You May also be induced by 37-38 weeks for the nutritional well being and safety of baby and you. Please speak more with your Dr. |

shutupareyouGOD: Someone shade more light on this too…I saw grade 3 placenta at week 36 scan and quite worried…..does it mean the placenta is weak….is it linked to placenta abruption…..do one need to monitor anything Take your mind off it. At 36 weeks +, it is quite okay and normal. Provided baby is okay, developing well and getting enough nutrition through the placenta. Everything is okay. |

prettmum: My Birth Story I had my first baby April 2017,after ttc , it took me four years+ to conceive again, after a missed miscarriage at 7weeks. This pregnancy was different eh, morning sickness showed me pepper but In all I thank God it ended in praise. approaching my edd my doctor said I should choose date for my elective CS because of previous SCAR, I choose FEB 9TH But on the 31st of January I started having contractions I timed it. it was 10 to 15 minutes apart. On the 1st of FEB WE headed to the hospital , I was checked the Dr said I'm 4cm by 6am the next day I was 6cm but the refused to hasten labour reason been I had previous SCAR and I have been booked for CS , they left me unattended to because I refuse to do CS I was progressing very well but still they wanted to tear me up. my hubby pited me because I was wallowing in pains when contraction came and so he signed consent form,i was wheeled to the theater and they brought out my damsel. I don't pray for my enemy to use that hospital. all the care about is money with VERY POOR QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. Whyworryph BS submitted Congratulations Mama. Most times we are quick to think hospitals care about money without recourse to the mother's wellbeing. What happened to you was pretty risky. Without a CTG,you stand more at risk as the Dr will have to manually measure how your womb is contracting and relaxing. You stood a high risk of uterine rupture, which is a major cause of concern. They were not after your money, but after your health. You can take out time to read up more about it, and you may ask questions about this and I will try to answer to the best of my abilities. Please don't risk this again. If the money you have can save your life, and ease you comfort, then by all means go for spending it, if you have. Congratulations again, and may you heal well. |

The large size I got in 2019 for my child delivery, is still very much available. Actually I just took from it to cleanse my face. I actually doubt the hospital taking your things. Factly, they may not even touch your cotton wool or savlon. |

Omakraid: Mummies I have a few questions, thanks in addy for the answers... 1. Is it compulsory to buy a big water flask? I'm asking because I have 2 small ones (1ltr & 820ml) and the hotness lasts for more than 24hrs either water or pap. I also heard some general hospitals have it in their list but mine doesn't so I don't know how important buying a bigger one would be.
2. Is it compulsory to buy Eucalyptus Oil (SilverBird) and how different is its use from Mentholatum?
3. What does hospitals use cotton wool for? Asking because I bought a small one (150) as my hospital didn't specify size) and I watched videos of people packing their delivery bags packing gigantic cotton wool of 2000 naira or more
4. What kind of outfit can be used as baby's first outfit after birth cos my hospital wrote Assorted Baby wear (I still don't get that kind of assorted like mixture of liver, intestines and roundabout )
5. How heavy or light should one pack to the hospital as I've watched different videos of people packing their delivery bags and carrying the biggest box size to the hospital (like it's a wedding sumtin).. Please share experiences of the kinds of bags you used to take your things to the hospital especially for people who don't have cars like myself or whose labour might not occur in the night before one will look like someone who wants to go and live in the hospital.
6. When getting items on the hospital list like comfit, spirit etc, do I still need to get extra for home use or I will comeback home with whatever is left of the number the hospital asked me to bring?
7. Any reviews on Lebrace Diapers? How good and comfy is it?
Help a FTM You seem to like rationing than comfort o. 7. For the comfit, you will still need to get more than the hospital prescribed to buy. That is just for hospital use. 6.Get spirit the normal moko size. 5. Your hospital packing should be dependent on what you think you need. However I suggest you pack comfortably so you won't be going up and down or buying at expensive rate at the hospital, the things you should have packed. 4. You should welcome your child with something worthy. That's what they mean with assorted. 3. Getting the bigger size can be cost effective. You get to pack back home too. 2. Is eucalyptus on your list. If not, leave it out then. 1. 2 water flask is extra load, but since you have them already, it's cost effective for you. However a bigger 1 Maximizes utility, and minimizes space use. |

Abbeycharles: Please how reliable is gender scan?
Wife is 22 weeks (5 months and 2 weeks) pregnant and the doctor said it's a girl
We want to start buying female stuff but another part of me is telling me to chill a little in order not to waste money
Please, how reliable is gender scan and what is the probability of the accuracy? If we wait till, let's say, 7 months and perform another gender scan, is it possible that the same scan will reveal a boy? Your baby's gender is XX. Go and buy your baby things. For confirmation, repeat the USS. |

wentroublecomes: Hello house, please I need Ur advice. My wife went to do ultrasound scan this morning. She was 37 weeks but d scan says 32 weeks. Please, is there anything to worry about? I don't know why it reduces with 5 weeks
D last time we did ultrasound scan, she was 23 weeks and d scan measure 24 weeks. It shows d baby was developing well. So, what's now d issue with this result again We use different scan centre because of change of location. We are in Ibadan b4 but relocate to Ado Ekiti Could it be an issue with there scan system or what? Firstly, quickly go and register at a hospital ASAP! Or are you waiting for her to fall into labor before you do? Secondly at this stage, it could be an indication of IUGR, although one cannot conclude as there are other factors to rule out possible fetal distress, before ruling IUGR. What is the baby's kick count? |

Secondly, we are currently both away from home. We base in Ibadan but I travelled to Ogun state while she travel to meet my mom at ado ekiti since about 6 weeks ago. So she wanted to travel back to Ibadan next week Saturday coz I'll also be in Ibadan this coming Saturday so that she will give birth in Ibadan. She's 35 weeks. She will be 37 weeks next week Saturday that she want to travel. Is it advisable for her to travel that long distance (4hrs) journey? Not advisable at all!!! Anything can happen at 36 weeks. Kindly advise her to travel down to Ibadan immediately, if you want her to be delivered of the child in Ibadan. |

lady25: Hello mamas. My son will be 4 years old this December. This year he has had two episodes of ear pain. During one of the episodes he cried a lot and couldn't sleep through the night. I gave him paracetamol, ear drop and hydrogen peroxide. I thought that would be the last of it but yesterday he complained in the morning that his ear is paining him but by 12 noon he said the ear pain has stopped. Please what can cause this on and off ear pain. I have looked into the the ear maybe I can find a foreign object but nothing seems to be there someone said it's because I'm pregnant that's why (and truly it started when I got pregnant). Is there anyone that has experienced same Why not just take him to the hospital. You aren't treating anything here to be honest with you. And I will be frank with you in this. Take that boy to the hospital please. Thank you |

Honestly speaking, I'm in serious pain and I've been crying because I don't know how a thing if joy and celebration can bring so much discomfort. I'm at a crossroad and don't know what to do. As much as I want this, must I endure this intense pain? Hmmmmmmmmmmm
Thanks to all for the encouragements and advice. God bless and wishing you all a smooth and painless pregnancy Some people have it worse than this actually. I think the problem here is the threshold you can take, and being a FTM, it seemed very strange to you. Is your Nausea and vomiting very bad? And your fatigue level too? If you can't control yourself, please check in to the hospital so you can at least gain some strength. |

I tested positive for malaria though and my mum said that's the reason for the bitter taste. Been treating it with herbs for 1 week now as both doctors I visited said I can't take malaria drugs. No improvement still. I hope our seniors can advise. It's a terrible feeling. Herbs ke? Who says you can't be treated of Malaria in pregnancy? Please madam, carry yourself to the hospital right away and discontinue any herbs at this stage. You can and will be treated of Malaria. Don't hurt urself and the poor baby. |

beautyuche: Good Day Sabi Mama in the house.
Biko help me understand this MS.I am 13 weeks still throwing up almost every day the spitting sef is on gear 2. Yesterday in traffic I was just vomiting that drivers had to allow me clear off the road and park so I can Balance and vomit very well. Few weeks back due to lack of eating I was Vomiting Blood. The Dr had to place me on two drip. They rushed it into my system cause I was sooo dehydrated. Even My house and car sef is now irritating me from the plenty vomit.
Who did I offend? When will I be free? What can I do? It wasn't like this during the first Pregnancy.
Please Help So sorry ma'am. This is pretty normal. Infact your doctor is pretty nice with 1000 litres of water for infusion. However, no 2 pregnancy is the same. I've had someone leave her house and go as far as renting an Air B n B to avoid the smell of her husband, her house, her children and everyone in particular, so yours isn't a peculiar case. Week 14 is knocking on the door, where you will have so much intense relief from the drama of MS. For now, just be well aware of your health. Confirm and avoid your vomit triggers, if you can take more fluid, and ensure you snack on something maybe every now and then throughout the day. There's a high chance that your nausea is being triggered by an empty stomach actually. So be well aware of that. Now ask your doctor to prescribe you a medication to relief you of the nausea/vomiting. Ondansetron is a pretty great drug for this. Confirm if you can take it. You will be fine. Cheers! |

No pains, just discomfort around my stomach. Then i later noticed i was bleeding, with little. I went to the hospital immediately, the doctor said 5weeks is too early for a scan. That i will be placed on bedrest in the hospital and given progesterone and another injection. Now my question is, is there no way to check if the baby is fine or not?

I rotated BTW the two conditions last night. I want to go for test but want to hear from my big sisters here please mums, don't ignore Please see a doctor ASAP. Malaria and pregnancy doesn't go hand in hand at all. If there is a need to treat you with injections, the doctor will decide this depending on the severity. If the tablets can do the job easily, especially if the malaria is mild, then your doctor will prescribe the drugs to use. |

However, you may be part of the lucky few who do not experience symptoms in first trimester, but we cannot make this ruling until week 14. Congratulations Mama. |
