Politics / SATIRE: The Review Of Nigeria’s Existence by Pearl1988: 9:39am On Nov 11, 2013
This week, ASUU FC remains top of the table in their 4 months Unbeaten run extended by yet another emphatic victory over Federal Govt FC. In A die-hard game of 15 hours, the Captain Of Federal Govt FC, Judeluck Jona, scored a terrible own-goal in the 8-7 cracker to bring the game to a close!

ASUP FC's Match was postponed as hoodlums occupied the venue of the match and they occupy second on the log.

Boko Haram FC Occupy the 3rd position on the log as the maintain their stingy defence and ever prolific attacking form! Their striker- BOMB is banging in goals week in week out!

The Captain Of APC FC, Bolax Tinumbu, Has ordered that the FA at abuja look into the form of ASUU FC as they win matches at ease. The Captain Of ASUU FC, Nasri Faga, was quick to come out to the defence of his team that their recent run of form is due to share hard work!

SURE-P FC Might be relegated at the end of the season as a 500 million naira is missing from the club's account and we think the manager of the club does not even know how it went unnoticed!

PHCN FC have gotten new new owners and they got a draw in the last outing! All their players have been sacked, only few ones were left and they are shopping for new players as the new owners are ready for business!

AVIATION FC is yet to decide the future of their skipper, Streller Odwa, as they think they cannot meet the striker's demand for a bullet-proof car.

The highlight of the week's round-up is the GOLDEN EAGLETS FC Who rose from the Buttom of the league into the upper half. Beating WORLD FC on their home soil 26-5! Congrats to them!

In All, Federal Govt FC striker- CORRUPTION leads the scorers chat, followed by BOMB of Boko Haram FC and the Immediately By STRIKE of ASUU FC. Federal Govt FC are however worried of their defence and captain, judeluck jona, who keeps giving away cheap goals and scoring own goals!

Crime / CALEB University Student Arrested For Molesting AStudent In Uncompleted Building by Pearl1988: 3:33pm On Sep 19, 2013
A 22-year-old undergraduate of Caleb University, Lagos, Ugochukwu Agudosi, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate Court, Lagos, for allegedly raping a lady in an uncompleted building in Ikeja metropolis.

The undergraduate, who was arrested by Policemen at Area ‘F’ Command, Ikeja, Vanguard, gathered, had been remanded in prison custody over a similar offence.
It was gathered that Ugochukwu’s first victim was a 22-year-old lady (names withheld), who was his senior in school.

His modus oparandi, it was gathered, include chatting up his victims on Black Berry.
Along the line, he would invite them for a date, a plan his victims usually fall for because of his posh car. Rather than take them to an eatery as anticipated, he would take them to an uncompleted building in Ikeja Government Reserved Area, where he allegedly take advantage ofd them.
Police sources said: “Immediately he take advantage ofd any of his victims, he would delete their contacts from his BB chat.

Nemesis caught up with him after one of them, who turned out to be his senior in school, reported to the Police, leading to Agudosi’s arrest.
He was charged to court and remanded in prison custody because he could not meet his bail conditions, but was later released.
When the case came up for hearing, the lady said she wanted to withdraw the case. This made it difficult for policemen to continue with the prosecution, since there was no direct witness.

Just after his release, he reportedly attacked this 22-year-old lady. The incident reportedly occurred on August 27 at 8pm.

The lady was said to have reported the case at the Area F Command, which led to the re-arrest of Enugu State-born Agudosi.

Crime / Native Doctor Opens Fake University, Dupes 5 Thousand Students! by Pearl1988: 3:34am On Sep 09, 2013
A native doctor identified as Fidelis Chukwujindu has been apprehended by the police for luring over 5,000 students, extorting money from them and conducting fake entrance examination for the unsuspecting victims.

Chukwujindu, was nabbed at the premises of his non-existent College Hospital which has the sign post “University College Hospital Ogboko, Ideato, P.O.Box 1960, Orlu, Imo State.

Also written on the signpost, which was conspicuously mounted by the roadside, is, “Present Courses: B.Sc, Nursing, Health Sciences, Education Humanities, Medical LAB Sciences. Admissions Are Still Going On. Govt. Approved. Call: 08064082750.”

The operator of the illegal college attracted students by printing flyers which he distributes to churches across the country, as most of the students claimed they came to know about the school through their pastors.

Chukwujindu claimed to have the permission of the State Government and Federal Ministry of education to run his non-existent college hospital.

He also claimed to be a product of the prestigious Harvard University, America. “I won a Federal Government scholarship to study abroad, but was incapacitated by an accident which disfigured one of my legs and I was flown back to Nigeria where I later decided to set up the college,” he said.

Assisting the suspect, who claimed to be the vice –chancellor of the university college hospital, was a middle aged woman later identified as Ngozi Ayoha. The woman, who initially said she was deaf and dumb, caused a stir when it was found that she was the Dean of Faculty of Medicine of the illegal college.

Parading the suspect with his victims before newsmen, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammad Katsina, explained that one striking thing about the strategy of the gang was that they carefully selected the site opposite the Imo State University, Ogboko, and adjacent to the Rochas Foundation College, Ogboko, to convince their victims of the genuineness of their business.

Crime / Boko Haram Burn Schools In Borno by Pearl1988: 12:50pm On Sep 06, 2013
No fewer than 20 people were feared killed when suspected Boko Haram members in separate attacks laid ambush to Gajiram, headquarters of the Nganzai Local Government, and Bulabulin Ngawra village in the Konduga Local Government area of Borno State on Thursday.

Several others also sustained injuries.

The Nganzai Local Government secretariat complex, two primary schools, a clinic and some residential houses were also set ablaze by the attackers.

Nganzai is about 73 kilometres while Bullabulin Ngawra is 45 kilometres away from Maiduguri, the state capital.

Both council areas are linked and have boarders with the terrorists’ camps of Marte and Sambiza Forests.

The camps were acclaimed to have been destroyed by Joint Task Force (JTF) at the peak of the emergency rule declared in May by the Federal Government.

It was gathered that some terror suspects numbering over 40 fully armed with Ak 47 rifles ambushed Gajiram town on Thursday morning and killed 15 residents, set some public and residential buildings ablaze before they were repelled by the combined efforts of the vigilante youths and men of the JTF.

It was also gathered that Borno State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Kaka Shehu Lawan, has gone to Gajiram headquarters of Gajiram to commiserate with the residents.

The actual number of casualties could not be officially ascertained at press time on Thursday.

Governor Kashim Shettima and his deputy, Zanna

Umar Mustapha, were out of Maiduguri for an official assignment in Abuja on Thursday.

Also, the Maiduguri-Dambao-Biu road which was reopened two weeks ago after its closure by the JTF came under siege by some terror suspects who mounted a road-block on Thursday few metres away from Bullabulin Ngawra village.

The bandits reportedly shot and killed five people.

An eyewitness, Aisami Babagana from Bulabilin Ngawra told our correspondent that “the Boko Haram sect members attacked Bullabulin Ngawra in the early hours of today (Thursday) and killed five people.

“I believe that they attacked us because of how our volunteers have succeeded in curtailing their atrocities in our area.”

In a related development, six suspected members of the Islamic sect, including their commander (name withheld), have been arrested by the combined efforts of the military operatives and the vigilante youths in Maiduguri, the state capital.

It was gathered that the arrested commander of the sect was in charge of Sulimanti Ward where he equally led his members to a deadly attack early this year on a bakery in Sulimanti where six workers were slaughtered.

A source explained the sect’s commander was arrested in the Konguga local council area on Tuesday, and that after interrogation, he pleaded with the JTF to allow him come to Maiduguri and expose some of his collaborators.

It was also learnt that when the suspect was taken to Sulimanti Ward, he was able to fish out five of his collaborators and handed them over to security forces.

Speaking, JTF spokesman, Sagir Musa, a Lt. Col., told newsmen in Maiduguri that he was not aware of the incidents, but promised to send statement on the development after compiling his report.

In a related development, no fewer than eight condemned criminals have escaped from Daura Prison in Katsina State after they broke out of their cell.

Daily Independent gathered that the escapee criminals capitalised on heavy down pour in the area on Tuesday night to perfect their escape.

A dependable source said the condemned criminals may have been working on their escape plan before then, as they dug an undergroundtunnel from where they escaped.

It was also gathered that all efforts to re-arrest the runaway criminals failed.

Our correspondent who visited the Katsina Prison Command met a Deputy Comptroller who insisted the Public Relations Officer had an accident while the Comptroller was away on official assignment.

“I was not authorised to speak. You know everybody has his own limitations and therefore it is not my mandate to speak,” the Deputy Comptroller said.

Another source told our correspondent that the case has been taken over by the headquarters of the command.

The source explained that some prison wardens were arrested in connection with the escape.

Meanwhile, security has been tightened at all prisons in Katsina to avoid recurrence.

Another report on Thursday said an officer with the Katsina Command of the Customs Service, Mr. Apollo, has been critically wounded from gunshots when a riffle he was carrying allegedly went off.

Our correspondent gathered that the incident occurred on Wednesday evening when the wounded officer on patrol with his colleagues allegedly mishandled the gun.

A source close to the Customs command told our correspondent that “the officer was badly injured as the bullet hit him on the knee. In fact his knee was ripped open.”

When contacted on phone, Katsina Customs Command spokesman, Muhammad Giade, confirmed the incident but dispelled the rumour that the affected officer attempted a suicide.

“At the end of the test, I was successful. I am going to read Computer Science at Wisconsin University, Ghana. The discipline has been my lifelong ambition and I am grateful that God has used my community and Shell to make the dream a reality.”

He advised other youths in difficult situation not to give up, saying that with hard work and trust in God, they would achieve their desires.

Jokes Etc / My God! Laff It Out! Family Problems by Pearl1988: 11:13pm On Aug 31, 2013
Two men met at a bus stop and struck up a conversation. One of them kept complainingof family problems. Finally, the other man said: You think you have family problems? Listen to my own situation!
A few years ago, I met a young widow with a grown up daughter and we got married.
Later my father married my step daughter. That made my stepdaughter my stepmotherand my father became my stepson. Also, mywife became the mother-in-law of her father-in-law.
Then the daughter of my wife, my stepmother, had a son. This boy was my half-brother because he was my father’s son, but he was also the son of my wife’s daughter which made him my wife’s grandson. That made me the grandfather ofmy half-brother.
This was nothing until my wife and I had a son. Now the half-sister of my son, my stepmother, is also the grandmother!
That makes my father the brother-in-law of my child, whose step sister is my father’s wife. I’m my stepmother’s brother-in-law, my wife is the Aunty of her own child, my son is my father’s nephew and I am my ownGrandfather!

The incident took another unfortunate dimension as Niyi’s ailing father; Pa Adelana who was receiving medical treatment in a hospital in Abeokuta, Ogun State reportedly gave up the ghost immediately he received the news that his son was bathed with hot water.

Police sources confirmed the story and say investigation is on.

Politics / Boy Who Hid In Aircraft Tyre Compactment To Get Scholarship To University Level by Pearl1988: 5:40pm On Aug 28, 2013
Experts in the aviation industry have expressed surprise over the survival of a teenager stowaway, Daniel Oikhena, who hid in the wheel well of Arik Air aircraft used for flight W3 544 from Benin Airport to the Murtala Muhammed Airport, MMA, Lagos.

It will be recalled that the teenager apparently sneaked into the aircraft main wheel well at the Benin Airport after he had beaten security checks at the airport, but he was arrested by Arik Air personnel and handed over to Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, security upon arrival at the Murtala Muhammed. Airport, Lagos when he came out of hiding.

Speaking on how Daniel could have survived at the nose wheel of the aircraft, an aviation expert and Managing Director of Belujane Consult, Mr. Chris Aligbe said there was no expert in the aviation industry that could give a satisfactory explanation to what happened, stressing that the boy’s survival was indeed miraculous.

He further noted that the boy’s survival could be as a result of the short distance that the plane flew, noting that from Benin to Lagos airport was just 35 minutes of flight time.

He said that the aircraft did not ascend high into the sky as it only flew at 10,000 feet above sea level.

Aligbe, however, stressed that if the distance was a long haul flight, like from Lagos to London, the teenager would have frozen to death, stressing that the higher an aircraft ascends into the sky, the cooler the nose wheel apartment becomes.

He said that was the major reason why people that stowed away from Lagos to other parts of the world are found dead upon arrival at their destination.

In such cases he said, the airline staff often found the corpses of such people on landing.

It was a miracle

He said: “There is no aviation experts that can give you a satisfactory explanation on the incident. The nostril of the aircraft is not designed for anybody to stay in. The boy’s survival was miraculously done by God because the aircraft could have crushed the boy when the plane was retracting its tyres.”

“Although the hole is a bit wide, it is not meant for anybody to stay in. There is no scientific explanation to it, there is no aviation expert or technology that could explain how that boy survived onboard that aircraft.”

He survived because of his size —Ore

Also speaking, Chairman of Aviation Round Table, ART, Captain Dele Ore, explained that the boy survived because of his size and more so, the flight was for a short distance which was not more than 10,000 feet.

Ore said based on the small size of the boy, he was not crushed to death on the wheels where he hid himself.

The ART chairman further said had the flight been a place like United States of America, the plane would have flown above 25,000- 35000 feet, the boy would have died in five minutes because the place he hid himself was not a pressurized area.

Group volunteers to sponsor his education

Meantime, De Raufs, a volunteer group extolling the virtues of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Governor of Osun State, has volunteered to sponsor 15-year-old stowaway teenager, Daniel Oikhena, who hid in the tyre compartment of Arik Air flight from Benin to Lagos.

In a statement signed by the Director General of the group, Comrade Amitolu pootu, the group is ready to give scholarship to Daniel up to university level and help him realise his dream of travelling by air legitimately.

pootu said: “Genius and ambitious citizen of our country must not be suffocated on the alter of political and bureaucratic enforcement. The little boy’s ambition should be nurtured through qualitative education, and the group is ready to give the boy all the necessary support to make his dream a reality.

“We sincerely willing to offer him the scholarship to encourage thousands of teenagers who are cerebral and ambitious. The leaders in Nigeria fail on their part to see the potential of the little boy. Therefore, De Raufs takes up the responsibility to safe the future of this great boy and not turning him to criminal.”
