PoliticsBuhari’s Purported Plans To Islamise Nigeria If Elected, PM News Reports. by pecothecash(op): 10:06pm On Mar 14, 2015
Honourable Okorie Asita, the All Progressives Congress deputy governorship candidate in Rivers state, comments on the allegations related to the party’s presidential candidate, Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

In particular, Asita spoke about Buhari’s purported plans to Islamise Nigeria if elected, PM News reports.

Speaking at Obi Wali Conference Centre in Port Harcourt, the lawyer characterized the widely circulating rumour as brainless, immoral and cheap.

The APC’s guber candidate mocked the Peoples Democratic Party telling its members to look for a more creative lie because Nigerians are tired of the acting administration’s incompetence.

According to Asita, the poor governance today makes it impossible for conscious Nigerians to remember the lies of the proponents of Islamisation.
He also inquired why the PDP-led government, which has been obtaining loans from Islamic Banks, attending Organisation of Islamic Conference and building Almanjiri Schools in northern Nigeria, never misses a chance to accuse the opposition.

Asita noted that Buhari, when he was a military head of state, neither took Nigeria to the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC), nor did he ever attend their meetings.

This, however, has never applied to President Goodluck Jonathan, who has been actively participating in the above-described.

In conclusion, Asita urged the South-South to vote for competent leaders and reject those focusing on blackmail.

PoliticsPDP Governors Fresh Plot To Rig Elections, Uncovered by pecothecash(op): 9:37pm On Mar 14, 2015
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Friday said the decision of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum against the use of card reader machines (CRMs) for the 2015 elections “is an attempt to promote electoral frauds and rigging.”

The party, also, said rejecting the use of CRMs for the next general elections suggested that the forum had demonstrated that the PDP at large “is not committed to credible elections and deepening the country’s democratic process.”

The APC National Vice-Chairman, Chief Pius Akinyelure in a statement described the forum’s opposition to the use of card reader machines as “antithetic to robust democratic culture and credible electoral process.”

Akinyelure, who was a former Executive Director in Mobil Nigeria Plc., explained that it was worrisome that the forum “has opposed to initiatives that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) put in place to guarantee the credibility of the 2015 elections.”
The vice-chairman added that the forum “has been plotting the removal of the INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, who has set all necessary machineries in motion in order to achieve the successful conduct of 2015 elections.”

He lamented that the forum adopted a do-or-die approach “to stop the use of card reader machine, which all critical stakeholders in the Nigeria Project including the civil society organisations (CSOs) have approved given its capacity to help realise credible elections against what we had in the past.”

He, therefore, urged Nigerians to resist any person or platform canvassing against the use of CRMs in the next general election, saying disapproving the devising amounted to disapproving credible elections that produce change and a better country where every vote counted.

He explained that the forum as well as PDP was opposed to the use of CRM because it was afraid of defeat in the next elections citing the massive support the APC presidential candidate, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari enjoined in all parts of Nigeria, especially in South-West Nigeria.

He said the CRM initiative was introduced by the INEC, an agency of the federal government and the CRM project was also funded solely funded by the same federal government for the purpose of achieving credible elections.

He, therefore, wondered why the PDP-led federal government “is not opposing the CRM initiative. What is then the purpose of spending billions of naira to procure the devices when the federal government knows it will not support? This simply shows the PDP only wins elections by rigging. This is no longer fashionable. It is no longer acceptable and the time for change is now.”

It will be recalled that Adamu Mu’azu, the national chairman of PDP, had stated that the supposed leaked document from the presidency ordering the secret financial investigation of leaders of the main opposition party, was forged.

PoliticsDRAMA:- American Delegates And Nigerian Intelligence Clash by pecothecash(op): 11:13pm On Mar 13, 2015
An argument ensued on Wednesday at a special briefing in Washington DC when members of an American pre-election mission disputed claims by two Nigerian security chiefs that their delegation endorsed postponement of the elections.

Giving updates on preparations for the re-scheduled elections, Ambassador Ayodele Oke, Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, and Rear-Admiral Gabriel E. Okoi, Director of Defence Intelligence, said the Nigerian government has overcome most of the security and logistic problems that led to the postponement of the election.

Mr. Oke said the election delay was occasioned by incidences of criminal violence, widespread tension and Boko Haram insurgency, which were occurring in tandem with considerable shortfall in the electoral calendar.

“INEC was having challenges with regards to the distribution of permanent voter cards (PVCs)”, he said, “While another important tool, the card reader machine were not fully yet tested and deployed” across the country.

Speaking on the insurgency, Mr. Okoi confirmed that Boko Haram effectively controlled 14 local government areas in the run-up to February 14, the day elections were scheduled to commence.

The terrorists’ threat virtually pre-empted any form of electoral activity in the occupied areas, the intelligence chiefs said.

“Consequently INEC, after robust consultation with key stakeholders, deferred the elections by six weeks in accordance with constitutional provisions”

Re-emphasizing the gravity of the conditions that led to the decision to postpone the elections, Mr. Oke said that “that when the election was postponed, the NDI and IRI who are both on the ground issued a joint statement which corroborated and gave fuller explanation as to the reason why INEC took the decision it took,” adding that the statement is on their website.

But speaking after the security chiefs’ presentations, representatives of the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the International Republican Institute (IRI), who were present at the event, took an exception to Nigerian officials’ representation of their statement.

Former US assistant secretary of state for African Affairs, Ambassador George Moose, said “nothing in the statement justified postponement”.

Mr. Moose led the eight-person joint pre-election assessment mission that visited Nigeria January 15-20, this year.

He said while the delegation’s statement recounted the prevailing conditions of the electoral process and specific challenges to the polls, it did not recommend any change to the electoral calendar.

On the contrary, the delegation expressed “concern that postponement would increase post-election risks”. Other members of the NDI, IRI delegation spoke in the same vein.

it will be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan has admitted that he never spoke with the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI via telephone, as claimed last week by Nigeria’s foreign affairs ministry

When there was a flood in this country 2012, everybody panicked, President Goodluck Jonathan didn’t panic, people said there was going to be food crisis. I remember I went to him, I had my detailed analysis done, Mr President people are telling you that we are going to have food crisis, I said; No, you didn’t choose to shock we choose our response.
The President had that day on his desk quite a lot of people that had sent him letters asking for waivers to bring in food and flood the country with food.

The President didn’t listen to them and he called his Minister of Agriculture that is a great leader and he said can we survive? Do you think we are gonna survive?
Mr. President, I said, we can survive if you help us to do dry season rice. I gave him the plan, he took his pen, he used his green pen and he cancelled every single one of those things on his desk asking for waivers. He said Akin as he normally calls me go get the job done.

Today he launched dry season farming program the first President in the history of this country to launch a program for National dry season farming, so we can produce food during the main season, food during the dry season.

All across the North of this country it started and that is why we have been able to boost so much food production, farmers, young people that use to leave the north to come and work in Lagos or Abuja as mai guards or night guards or stuffs like that have stopped.

We create a lot of jobs, agricultural sector alone in terms of farm jobs have been able to do 2.3million farm jobs, you go and ask people not on the internet, not on Facebook, you go ask the in Jigawa, you go ask them in Katsina, ask them in Sokoto ask them in Kano, ask them in Bauchi and ask them in Gombe; they will tell you that there is no other President that has loved farmers more, supported farmers more, encouraged them more and being there for them all the time, he truly is the farmers President and he truly is the farmers president because he loves Farmers, he supports farmers and I believe that the farmers are going to reward him back because the farmers don’t want to be naked again, they want the clothing on their body and they are not going to loose that to just empty promises from others.

Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is the Farmers President and the Farmers are for Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
