There is no point withdrawing your passport after this long wait. Be assured that you will get it before mid January. I am aware the embassy had some technical issues before going on break and that could have possibly caused the delay. As a result, a friend of mine had his study visa delayed as well and was asked to check back on the 9th of January 2015.

Exercise more patience and all will be fine.

No, you don't need VFS. It's the embassy. Unless things have changed and I didn't know about it.

When I came into the republic, my visa expired on 31 Dec 2014. The immigration staff stamped 12 Dec 2013. I didn't leave the republic till Sept this year. I am back in the republic again. I had no problem whatsoever.

As long as your visa is valid for the duration of your stay and there is no condition on the visa (like you must not spend more than 30 days per entry), you are fine and may ignore the date the immigration official put.

I know you will still go to the airport. Kindly confirm for us here after you come back from there.

I'm not sure but I think your duration depends on the conditions of your visa and not what the airport official stamps.

It shouldn't be a problem. How many days before the job starts, how many days after? They may not give you all.

In your letter of introduction, please clearly state that you want a few days to get used to the country before work starts and a few days after the job to cool off.
