AFTER a gruelling contest that saw many tough contenders falling by the way, Paschal Eronmose on Fridday emerged the winner of Gulder Ultimate Search 9. He thus becomes the 9th champion of Nigeria’s first 100 per cent local content reality TV show. He narrowly edged out Onyinye Udodi, the last female contestant standing. The competition has never been won by a female since inception in 2004. On the last day of the competition, four contestants remained. They were Paschal, Onyinye, James Adah and Nuhu Zigwayi. The hunt for the treasure started in the morning when all four, who had spent the night at an old oil mill, were directed to assemble at the mouth of an old fire bridge. After travelling for hours, they arrived at the location where they were subjected to their first challenge. For his feat, Paschal will cart home the N9 million grand prize, N500,000 swagger allowance and a brand new 2012 SUV. He will be formally presented with his prizes later today at the Le Meridien Hotel, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State at the reveal party. Governor Godswill Akpabio is expected to be the special guest of honour. Onyinye however gets the sum of N4 million as total prize money – made up of N3 million for emerging second placed contestant and N1 million for emerging Gulder Ultimate Search last female contestant standing. Selena Gomez spent the last day blocking her phone numbers and other communication devices so Justin Bieber cannot contact her … TMZ has learned. Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ … Selena wants no contact with Justin, so whatever they tried hashing out during their sit-down last Sunday didn’t work. She has blocked her phone (which includes texting). For some reason, she’s still following Justin on Twitter, but we’re told she’s blocked him on all forms of contact. And … we’ve learned … the breakup absolutely, positively involved another woman — though our sources didn’t know which one. There’s been speculation that it’s a Victoria’s Secret model. We don’t know for sure if it’s her, but we know it involves another woman. source; http://www.rosemarynkblog.com/selena-gomez-im-totally-blocking-justin-from-my-life/

While President Obama’s lopsided support among Latino and other minority voters has been a focus of post election analysis, the overwhelming support he received from another growing demographic group — Americans who identify as gay, lesbian or bisexual — has received much less attention. But the backing Mr. Obama received from gay voters also has a claim on having been decisive. Mitt Romney and Mr. Obama won roughly an equal number of votes among straight voters nationwide, exit polls showed. And, a new study argues, Mr. Romney appears to have won a narrow victory among straight voters in the swing states of Ohio and Florida. Mr. Obama’s more than three-to-one edge in exit polls among the 5 percent of voters who identified as gay, lesbian or bisexual was more than enough to give him the ultimate advantage, according to the study, by Gary J. Gates of the Williams Institute at the U.C.L.A. School of Law, in conjunction with Gallup. The results are consistent with earlier research on the size and political beliefs of gay voters. Gay voters are another demographic group — along with African-Americans, Latinos, Asian-Americans and Jews — in which Democrats have been winning big victories over Republicans. Some of the groups are small, but together they make up about one-third of the electorate, forcing Republicans to win large victories among the remaining two-thirds of voters to win elections. By comparison, white evangelical voters, who vote overwhelmingly for Republicans, make up about one-fourth of the electorate and are not growing as rapidly. As with Latinos and Asian-Americans, the number of voters who identify as gay appears to be growing. Only 1.9 percent of Americans over 65 identify as gay, lesbian or bisexual, according to the Gallup survey, while 3.2 percent of those between 30 and 49 and 6.4 percent of those between 18 and 29 do. “In the younger population, there is a much wider range in the geography and ethnicity of those who are identifying as L.G.B.T.,” Dr. Gates said, using a common term for lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. That range now extends well beyond major cities and into multiple swing states. As Republicans plan to reach out to Hispanic and Asian-American voters, another question is whether they would also help themselves by improving their standing among gay voters. Some analysts say Republicans should try to do so, in part to win over some moderate straight voters, while others see any such effort as having more risk than upside. Research by Patrick J. Egan, a professor of politics and public policy at New York University, suggests that gay voters may prove difficult to bring into the Republican tent. Many gay voters “aren’t swingable because they have liberal positions on a whole bunch of issues besides gay rights,” Dr. Egan said. Exit polls showed that 76 percent of voters who identified as gay supported Mr. Obama last week, and that 22 percent supported Mr. Romney. Among straight voters, each candidate received 49 percent of the vote. If Republican candidates move to the center on gay rights, they might also risk losing support among cultural conservatives. “I think it would be a mistake for the party to abandon its moral values,” said J. Hogan Gidley, the national communications director for Rick Santorum’s 2012 presidential run and a senior strategist at BrabenderCox, a political consulting firm. Instead, Mr. Gidley said, the Republican Party’s low levels of support among gay voters can be overcome with better messaging to other voters, particularly about same-sex marriage. “We’ve lost the buzzword battle,” Mr. Gidley said, “that marriage is a ‘right.’ ” Other Republican strategists, however, say that their party’s stances on social issues like marriage are alienating straight voters, too. Public support for same-sex marriage and civil unions has climbed steadily since 2004. Recent polls show that support for same-sex marriage now outweighs opposition to it. Surveys by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life have shown that women and younger people support same-sex marriage at substantially higher rates than do men and older voters. “We have a very good message, a good plan,” said R. Clarke Cooper, the executive director of the Log Cabin Republicans, a group that pushes for gay rights, referring to the Republican Party’s overall platform. “But it’s been drowned out by the cacophony and the noise that is perceived as anti-immigrant, or anti-L.G.B.T., or anti-women.” While polls show that a large majority of Republicans continue to oppose same-sex marriage, there are small signs of a shift in tone among Republican officeholders. When Mr. Obama endorsed same-sex marriage in May, the response from Republican leaders was relatively muted. Republicans in Congress “will tell me behind closed doors that this is the direction we need to go as a party,” Mr. Cooper said, “but publicly they’re not doing that.” If the Republican Party does not make inroads among gay voters along with other minority groups, he said, the party risks going the way of the Whigs or becoming a regional party. Mr. Romney’s loss, Mr. Cooper said, is a sign that broadening the Republican Party’s appeal is imperative. “There’s nothing fun about saying I told you so,” he added. source: http://www.rosemarynkblog.com/gay-vote-seen-as-crucial-in-obamas-victory-is-this-also-a-lesson-to-our-politics-here-in-nigeria/

Former Nigeria’s President Olusegun Obasanjo, at the weekend, cried out about the state of the nation saying a massive revolution looms unless there is a conscious effort to improve the state of the nation. Obasanjo made this assertion while speaking at the West African regional conference on youth employment in Dakar, Senegal. The former Owu-born warlord lamented that the unemployment situation had given birth to categories of youth involved in social crimes whom he labelled as “area boys, Yahoo boys and, recently, Blackberry boys.” He said the danger posed by an army of unemployed youth in Nigeria can only be imagined adding that the country may witness a revolution soon unless the government takes urgent steps to check growing youth unemployment and poverty. He said “I’m afraid, and you know I am a General. When a General says he is afraid, that means the danger ahead is real and potent.” “There is the absence of serious, concrete, realistic, short and long term solution unemployment.” The former military Head of State referred to the doctorate degree holders who applied for jobs as drivers at the Dangote Group, saying ”Nigerian youths have been patient enough and that this patience will soon reach its elastic limit.” OBJ said youth unemployment rate which was 72 per cent in 1999 when he took over power had been reduced to 52 per cent by 2004 but that the rate rocketed to 71 per cent by 2011. Obasanjo called for diversification of the economy saying attention should be given to agriculture business as against the usual local farming. He stressed the need for easy access to land and micro credit, while advocating for a review of school curriculum to enable undergraduates spend additional one year to learn entrepreneurship. The conference, sponsored by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the African Development Bank, was attended by top bankers from across Africa including the Managing Director of Nigeria’s Bank of Industry, Ms. Evelyn Oputu. source: http://www.rosemarynkblog.com/we-now-have-area-boys-yahoo-boys-and-blackberry-boys-obj-warns-gej-of-imminent-revolution/

Well, the day has been kinda boring, so i thought i should publish this article on boyfriends waiting for sex. The girl usually has to take the decision on when she would allow sex in the relationship. Guys are more than willing to have sex on the first date itself, so it’s up to the girl to make up her mind on when to go for it. It’s important that the decision is whole hearted and that you don’t give in to any pressure from the guy. Some girls end up having sex with their guy just because she feels she should not “hurt” him. That’s a wrong notion because most guys are quite “okay” if the girl does not want to have sex, they just feel a little frustrated but that’s not really a bad thing. The guy is going to respect you when he realizes that you are a “no nonsense” girl when it comes to drawing a line on when the relationship can get intimate. A relationship needs to be balanced and “resentment” free. If you feel that you have to give in to your boyfriend’s demands or pressure that would indicate that you are creating an “imbalance” in the relationship because you are being submissive, and that can get very unhealthy for you in the long run. If your boyfriend is acting too needy and petulant about having sex, it would indicate that there is a hollowness to the relationship you share with him – after all sex is but a small aspect of close relationship. Tips To Consider So what if your boyfriend is insisting on having sex, how do you convince him to wait? Here are few tips: Let Him Know That You Are Not Ready You don’t have to be apologetic or timid about it, just let him know in no uncertain tone that you need some more time before you allow for such a level of intimacy. Tell him that having sex will take the relationship to a different level and you want to be sure that you are emotionally ready for it. If there is even the slightest of resistance in you, it implies that deep down you are not sure or that your intuition is warning you against it. Pay heed to this intuition and stand firm by your decision. Assure Him That Denial Is Not A Reflection Of A Lack Of Love Your boyfriend will question you if you are in love with him or not when you deny him sex. It’s quite a norm for guys to use the tool of “emotional” pressure, so he is bound to get a little cross with you and demand to know if the reason why you are denying sex is because you are unsure of the relationship. You will need to convince him quite sweetly that this is not the case and that the relationship means a lot to you. You can tell your guy that you are waiting for the relationship to mature in terms of emotional bonding and closeness before you take it to the next level. Get Him To See This From Your Perspective A girl might feel hesitant about engaging in sex early in the relationship because she feels that the guy might treat her differently once he gets physical with her. There are many instances when a guy’s attitude changes completely once he feels he has “scored” with the girl, this also leads to hollow relationships. Guys also tend to label a girl as an “easy” lay if she agrees to have sex within a few dates. .....continue at the blog http://www.rosemarynkblog.com/how-to-convince-your-boyfriend-to-wait-for-sex/

A two-day old baby abandoned by an unknown mother was found dead behind the Medical Students Hostel, University of Calabar near the office of the Cross River State first lady, Mrs. Obioma Liyel-Imoke. Mrs. Imoke in the last five years had been waging war against teenage pregnancy and child abandonment through her pets’ projects and had been able to put a stop to rampant baby abandonment in the state despite alleged campaign of calumny carried recently against her. Speaking at the scene where the dead baby was abandoned, special assistant to the Governor on Public Health/ NGO and Special Projects, Dr. Regina Ejemot-Nwadiaro said her attention was drawn to the incident by an anonymous caller which prompted her presence at the scene. Nwadiaro said that immediately she got to the place, she called the Calabar Urban Development Authority, CUDA, who quickly responded to the call and subsequently alerted the Police. She condemned the perpetrator of which she described as a dastardly act, callous, inhuman and outright wickedness. According to her, “for the past five years the wife of the State Governor Mrs. Obioma Liyel-Imoke, has been championing the stamping out of teenage pregnancy child abandonment in the state through her project; Mothers’ Against Child Abandonment (MACA). “It is thus, disheartening that in spite of the consistent efforts by Mrs. Obioma Liyel-Imoke and the MACA team, people could still dump babies.” source: http://www.rosemarynkblog.com/abandoned-baby-found-behind-unical-hostel/
