Kill does not mean murder in its literal term, the issue here is that it appears that something is afoot to destroy the economic base of the opposition.

« #21 on: September 22, 2005, 02:55 PM »

Kalu has refused to substantiate his allegations despite being given the opportunity to do so by the EFCC. It appears he's just making loud and empty noise Angry.

My rezpunz

Why do we all have a problem of someone alleging something and keeping an open mind to let the facts bear themselves out? We are merging two issues here. Orji made one accusation and FFK replied that it is not true that it should be investigated, so let’s wait for the investigation.

If we have our own facts to add we should do so and not call one party a liar or anything else for that matter. Where is healthy debate?

As for me I have made my own allegation. Seun lives too close to Ota farm to run a board of ideas grin cool

There appears to be a pattern to this madness.

Presidential challenger Marwa, Albarka shut down
Presidential challenger Atiku, Suspected of coup plotting, Intels shut down

Remember Presidential candidate, Jim Ifeanyi Nwobodo – Savannah shut down

Presidential candidate – Ibrahim Babangida (Maradona) – either will get shut down or is sponsor of shutdown
PoliticsRe: "The Alleged Plot" Article in Daily Independent by pendelite(f): 2:05pm On Dec 10, 2005
This is the script General Abacha used to hold Nigeria hostage and resulted in a jail sentence for the current President. It the current President does not recognize this script and falls prey to it, he only has himself to blame because we already know how the script ends.

Instead of this clock and dagger stuff, how about the President lay out verifiable charges against the Vice President (if there is any truth to what’s being alleged) at which point all available legal redress will be used to oust the Vice.

Silence in the face of injustice will bring no good omen, the President’s failure to address instability in his own cabinet shows that evil hands are at work and have been given license to operate.

The Vice President has done the right thing to calm the nation he administers that he has no hand in a Phantom coup. If anyone believes he does then they should state their case and do so quickly to quiet the swirling speculation.

The dark days of scheming people out of government should be behind us; these people are playing with the future peace and prosperity of Nigeria. In an unsettled environment real plotters are given the ingredients to ferment trouble.

PoliticsRe: How to Deal With DSP Alamieyeseigha of Bayelsa State by pendelite(op): 1:22am On Dec 07, 2005
For the record this post is not about the guilt of innocence of the man but rather the method resolution of the facts.

1. He should not have jumped bail; he is not in Nigeria and will not be prosecuted because the BOSS does not like him. (one day our country will be the same) – So for those presuming guilt, one for you.
2. So he jumped bail, he loses all authority to remain the Chief Security Office of his state.

So now what happens?

1. If the constitution says he has immunity then respect it, in due time his term will end and he will face the music. Why are we always in a hurry?

2. If he wants to remain as Chief Security Officer of his state then he must respect the law and return himself to Britain to face the Music, unless he can prove he has immunity there and is being wrongly prosecuted.

3. Otherwise if he will not comply with (2) above, then he should be given the constitutional protections his office offers him but ostracized by the other law abiding people in the country. However we should not change the game in the middle because we want one man, then we are not letting the constitution mature.

4. That is the real argument here about harassment and intimidation.

5. If we don’t like our own constitution then let’s change it and remove immunity for all Governors, not just the ones that are not the flavors of the month.

Atiku: I Won’t Resign
Intel, VP’s company, shut
From Josephine Lohor and Onyebuchi Ezigbo in Abuja, 12.06.2005

Vice President Atiku Abubakar yesterday put to rest speculations that he may resign from office following the crisis of confidence between him and his boss, President Olusegun Obasanjo.
“I am committed to serving out our entire term of office as mandated by the Nigerian people when they re-elected President Olusegun Obasanjo and I (sic) in 2003, in spite of false insinuations about my imminent resignation,” the Vice President said in a terse statement that sought to repudiate some documents about a purported plan to rope some of his associates and him in a coup plot.
The statement, personally signed by Atiku, coincided with the suspension, by the Federal Government, of one of his companies, INTELS (Integrated Logistics Services) Nigeria Limited, from the operations of Onne Lighter Terminal, Port Harcourt in Rivers State.
The Vice President’s statement, which was released in Abuja read, “My attention has been drawn to some documents circulating in the country about a purported plan to rope me and some of my associates into certain unconstitutional acts with grave consequences for the stability of our country and my personal safety.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to state unequivocally, that by my antecedents and democratic convictions, I will never be involved in any plot to derail our hard-earned democratic system of government, having uncovered and frustrated a coup plot whose master-minds are already facing legal trial.
“I remain committed and faithful to my Oath of Office to defend and uphold the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In this regard, anyone purporting to drag my name or Office into anything contrary to this oath should be regarded as mischief-makers who do not wish our country well.
“I will also use this opportunity to react to insinuations about my continued role in the present administration. I am committed to serving out our entire term of office as mandated by the Nigerian people when they re-elected President Olusegun Obasanjo and I in 2003, in spite of false insinuations about my imminent resignation.
“Finally, I wish to appeal to Nigerians to remain steadfast and loyal to the Government and Constitution of Nigeria and avoid any acts that could derail our cherished democracy.”
Meanwhile announcing the suspension of the concession programme of INTELS, in which the Vice President has substantial interest, Federal Ministry of Transport in a statement by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, said its Minister, Dr. Abiye Sekibo, took the action following petitions and complaints by many stakeholders over the mode of the company’s operations at the port.
The minister, the statement added, also directed the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to take over all activities in the ports pending the conclusion of on-going investigations on the ports.
Intel entered into a 25 year agreement with NPA to develop the port facility and operate it under the terms of Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT). The agreement was in furtherance of government's policy of partnering with the private sector operators by giving concessions to private companies to operate the facilities hitherto managed by the NPA.
As part of the implementation of the deal, INTEL earlier in the year completed a section of the Onne Port Complex.
INTELS (formerly NIC-OTES), is not new to closures, as this is the second time it will run into trouble. In 1996, the company was taken over by former Head of State, late General Sani Abacha, apparently to financially cripple former Chief of Staff, Supreme Headq-uarters, late General Shehu Yar’Adua, a major shareholder of the company, who was opposed to his plan to elongate his regime.
The company was, however, returned by Abacha’s successor, General Abdu-lsalami Abubakar rtd., following a petition by Atiku after Abacha’s death in 1998.
Set up in the late 1980s by Yar’Adua, Atiku and some Italian partners to offer logistics in Nigeria, the company started operating from a small container office at Apapa Ports, and grew its operations to expand to Equitorial Guinea, Congo Brazzaville, Sao Tome and Principe, Gabon and Angola with a combined staff strength of over 16,000. cheesy

Both you guys are pathetic asking the government to leave this man alone
the man is a criminal and should be prosecuted and jail just like Tafa balogun was jail. that is the problem with Nigerians, we all need to come together and said no to corruption. regardless of who you are, if you stole public funds for your own vendetta you should be disgraced and impeached
You miss the point entirely. I am not against his prosecution but that due process must be followed not the cowboy method currently employed.

It is time to leave Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha alone

Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha is the elected Governor of Balyesa state. While we may think of him in any form we like, to me as a Nigerian he is a source of great embarrassment as a leader; he however came to the job as an elected official by the people of his state. If they feel the way I do about him then they should follow the constitutional process for removing him from office, anything less is a COUP.

"General" Olusegun Obasanjo may feel as embarrassed as he wants in Abuja but he cannot and should not interfere in the affairs of any state, anything less is a COUP against the constitution of Nigeria he swore to uphold.

Until we start to respect the role of our constitution and its processes we will have third term agendas (pole movement), ineffective governance, insecurity (remove the man I don’t like), military rule etc.

Sending the military and silencing the radio makes not just Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha the bad guy but our silence in the view of what is intimidation, harassment and violation of due process for a quick fix makes all look like immature jungle monkeys to the world.

They go begin ask, these people no get laws…..

It is time to leave Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha to his people. We can debate the issues of governance and advocate the right ideas but not remove the man without due process

Quote" Nice stats.

About President Obasanjo's rule:
- The coup that brought him into power the first time was not his doing.
- He willingly left the seat of power after a short time.
- His last 8 years have been by the people's choice."

Resp: Thats really not the issue if he came by chance "God's work" or brought himslef there with a gun. It simply means that these gentlemen have had ample opportunity to rule Nigeria and so everyone can ask "so what do we have to show?" as we take steps to elect a new leader

Do you know what the Presidency of Nigeria means or have we bastardized it to the point of irrelevance. Are you offering him for President of your house.

The President of Nigeria.

is someone we look up to, his vision for the country (made of individuals) is clear. We are inspired and motivated by him to contribute our piece to the world.

He develops and manages our role in the world and ensures that the country will be a better, safer place for us now and generations to come. He ensures our place in the community of nations. He fills us with pride and carries our dignity as he represents us around the world.

A general and gentleman he protects us. When we are ejected from a foreign country he sends a plane to bring us home. When we are threatened, he moves the troops to assure our safety. We answer his call to live and die for country.

All life matters, the least fortunate knows his President; he provides for all, when we are sleep he is awake making sure we are safe. When we are awake he works and defines for us the quality of life issues, education, jobs and the economy.

At the end of the day we honor his life because he made a mark for all us in the world.

PoliticsThe development problem of Nigeria is not corruption by pendelite(op): 2:02am On Dec 04, 2005
The development problem of Nigeria is not corruption, the problem is representation

If you look at the least developed areas of Nigeria you will spot a pattern. The people that represent them do not live in the community. A village house you visit once a year is not your place of residence. The pattern in Nigeria is for someone living in Lagos or abroad, at the sound of the election bell to head back to his state to run for office. What does he know about the needs of that community?

He/She is merely an opportunist, there to plunder the financial vote of the community and to divert resources to Lagos/Abuja or abroad to the detriment of the represented constituency.

This is why at the end of his term there is nothing to show. So I suggest the following:

A person must meet a residency requirement and may only run for office in the state/community that he has resided for a minimum of five years and for at least six months in a year during the period.

This will also curb the feeling of a lack of belonging for people that have lived in a community and are considered outsiders as they can now run for office in that community. Imagine being born in Lagos, growing up there and when it is time to run for office you have to travel to Bauchi to seek political office because your father or his father is from there. Of what use can you be there and so what have you been doing in Lagos all your life.

Over to you…….

Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Prime Minister: 1 October 1960 - 15 January 1966
Nnamdi Azikiwe Presidents 1 October 1963 - 16 January 1966
Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi Head of State 16 January - 29 July 1966
Yakubu Gowon Head of State 1 August 1966 - 29 July 1975
Murtala Mohammed Head of State 29 July 1975 - 13 February 1976
Olusegun Obasanjo Head of State 13 February 1976 - 1 October 1979
Shehu Shagari: President 1 October 1979 - 31 December 1983

Abdulsalami Abubakar Chairmen of the PRC 8 June 1998 - 29 May 1999
Olusegun Obasanjo President 29 May 1999 -

Since independence, Nigeria has been ruled by a Northern ruler for an approximate total of 49 years and 3 months. The South (Yoruba) will have ruled Nigeria for 11 years and 11 months at the end of President Obasanjo’s second term. The Ibo’s have ruled Nigeria for approximately 2 years and 9 months.

No Southern minority group has ruled Nigeria but the Northern Minority have ruled Nigeria for approximately 18 years and 10 months.

Obasanjo at the end of his current term will be the longest ruler of Nigeria with a total of 11 years and 8 months, followed by Gowon who ruled for 9 years and 11 months and then Babangida who ruled for 8 years and 1 day.

If Obasanjo gets a third term he will have ruled Nigeria for 15 years or approximately one third of the time from Independence. If Babangida runs in 2007 and wins a four year term he will just become the longest serving ruler, surpassing Obasanjo’s by approximately one year.

OBJ at the end of his term and IBB, if he does not rule Nigeria again have ruled Nigeria for almost 40% of the time since Independence.

Good luck, your man
