If we can't trust state governors with their own police force, then the NPF should recruit more locals and deplore them to their locality.

Also forest rangers.
Nice idea, but then: if you say so. Governors will told their hands over insecurity and say nothing. The President is in Asorock and can not come to each and every state to monitor issues day and night.

The Governors with the state Police on their desk can supervise their state issues and confront any insecurity once they get any information not until they call Abuja.

The Governors will also sit up since they know everything now lies on their hands. People won't be call Tinubu here Tinubu there again

Most state governments in Nigeria are struggling to pay staff salaries so I wonder where they will get money to pay staff of the state police?
The solution to insecurity is more an urgent approach than salaries and other matters.

If they will channel all funds to insecurity and creation of State Police right now is better.

State workers can conviniently go to farm

Why do all of you imagine that state policing necessarily means that governors should get to treat the police like their personal armies? That's not how things work anywhere else worth emulating! It's as if Nigerians can't conceive of the idea of division of powers, which is why they also seem to think a president must be an elected dictator able to pass laws and set prices as he pleases.

There is absolutely no reason why state police have to be answerable in any way to a governor, and in fact, it would better that they don't, so we don't have a situation where governors deploy them as enforcers of their personal whims. The heads of state police could be directly elected, just as the governors are, and subjected to an oversight committee appointed by state legislators and LGA chairmen. The important thing is that there should be a mechanism for citizens to hold the police accountable, which is what is completely missing right now.

This accountability issue is why local police at the LGA level would be an even better suggestion than state police, as then both the police and the citizens they should be protecting will know each other by name.

I will suggest you take time to read my comment well and over again, you may see that I have good understanding of how this works.

Your comments should be directed to those who think State Policing is Governors personal Army!

As much as this idea sounds great due to insecurity, it will just make governors mini tyrants.

I hope they put enough checks mechanism in the law that would set it up to mitigate abuse.

APC governors will just be using state police to rig elections.

In fact, I suspect the reason they are pushing for State Police is to have enough touts that would help execute 2027 elections seeing that nobody in his right senses would vote for them except their brainless supporters.
Bros, no one that has power and won't insult it. State Policing is needed urgently to cobe the insecurity as a matter of urgency.

The Governors are to powerless and everyone waited for the President. It's wrong, let the Governors have their full force to Police their states.

Governors have only 4years, if they abuse powers, we get them arrested the day they hand over power at once.

People are dying, farmers can not go to farm again, Tinubus decision to create state Police is the answer to Nigerias insecurity ASAP

Governors are very powerless, this is the only way every Governor can fight insecurity in their state.

So instead of every one waiting for Tinubu to come and answer to everyinsecurity.... It's better you let the Governors have their powers to Police their states and the President focus on the bigger Terrorist and economics.

Best move by the President. State Police is urgently needed since the mess of insecurity is becoming unbearable couple with the population of the country and it's complexity.

We can't have 2President in the same country. Obi should mind his business and wait for his time - Tinubu waited for 11years. After all, did he fix Anambra!

Every parents should care for their daughters and they won't look up to their boy friends for gifts.

Alia is a Governor, let him run the state any how he likes, next election is by the corner, when the time comes, you guys can now decide!

I won't take nonsense if by this time next year I can't see devidence of my vote for Tinubu and APC
